Personality:
Rotwang is always the embodiment of the stereotypical mad scientist, and he always embodies that archetype fully in both breadth and depth regardless of the situation. Specifically, he always thinks of everyone around him, including himself, as well as everything in the world, as potential specimens to be employed in his research studies and treats them according to this belief. Therefore, he never has respect or regard for most others and is even willing to turn his subordinates, allies, and even himself into lab rats or some other means to an end if doing so would allow him to acquire all the materials and data he needs for his research.
This is especially true if these materials and data are ones that Rotwang has not yet encountered in any previous situation as there is nothing he is as obsessed with as the pursuit of ever more knowledge at any cost, meaning that he would toss all semblance of ethics, morality, common social graces, and even the instinct of self-preservation aside without an iota of compunction. This is especially true if it means that he can achieve/acquire said knowledge or source of knowledge if it happens to pique his curiosity strongly.
Another aspect of this personality of Rotwang’s is his absolute hatred of the concept of perfection and this, in turn, stems from his firm belief that the achievement of such a state would leave nothing more to strive for in the foreseeable future. In combat situations, Rotwang always loves to toy around with his opponents by torturing them gradually by using a variety of strategies and tactics until they break down completely and surrender to his whims.

Rotwang was born as the only son of his parents, with his father being the current highest leader of the “Frankenstein Family” which is an ultra-wealthy and highly influential criminal syndicate family known as a “mafia” which has been in a foreign land located far away from the ninja nations since several generations before the present. In contrast, his mother was born into and is the current highest leader of one of the higher-ranking families belonging to the “Chinoike Clan” which is one of the major ninja clans belonging to one of the five great nations of the ninja world, namely “Kumogakure no Sato/Hidden Cloud Village” located in “Kaminari no Kuni/Land of Lightning”. At some point in the past, Rotwang’s father had traveled to the Hidden Cloud Village along with his retinue in search of an opportunity to expand their influence into this village. It was there that he met Rotwang’s mother while out on a business meeting and eventually the two grew closer to each other.
There were two main reasons why Rotwang’s father was accepted by the elders of the Chinoike clan when he was brought before them by Rotwang’s mother for presenting him as her permanent chosen life partner for the foreseeable future. One of them was the enormity of the wealth and influence that were freely and fully accessible to Rotwang’s father, and this was the case because the Chinoike clan elders realized that these would be useful to the clan’s future prosperity. The other was the fact that Rotwang’s mother was quite taken with his father and she had vehemently refused to give up on their imminent union and their future life together. After that, in due course, Rotwang was brought into the world, and he inherited several genetic gifts that caused him to be a very promising prospect since childhood.
That, in turn, led to Rotwang being named not only as the sole heir to the future leadership of his father’s vast syndicate and all its assets as well as personnel but also as the sole heir to the future leadership of his mother’s specific family and all its assets as well as personnel within the larger Chinoike clan of the Hidden Cloud Village. The genetic gifts that Rotwang had inherited included ones such as his father’s superlative aptitude for engineering in all its aspects and his mother’s superlative aptitude for the various ninja arts, of both basic and advanced variety. Consequently, he was made to undergo rigorous instruction in various areas of knowledge/expertise such as high society etiquette, linguistics, fine arts, and so on which were not related to ninja life but were among those that would be expected to be found in the repertoires of any other heirs or heiresses to such ultra-wealthy and highly influential families as his own.
However, his mother and her side of the family did not instruct him in the secret arts exclusive to the Chinoike clan since they wanted him to develop a good foundation in the basics arts that every ninja was expected to know thoroughly and was expected to be able to wield easily at any time (i.e., Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, and Taijutsu), but they did recognize the fact that he did indeed have innate talent for it which they insisted that he wait till later to cultivate at his leisure. So, he was not able to make any progress in this area despite his interest in these secret, clan-exclusive ninja arts being as obsessive as his fascination with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Thus, in this manner, time marched on for Rotwang wherein he went from being a mere boy to a young man.
During this period, he began to progress steadily in his mundane, non-ninja studies from one stage to the next in the relevant academic career, and he managed to place at the top of his class at every stage with little to no effort. Along with that, he also kept up with all areas of his basic ninja studies and put himself through auto-didactic training in “Chemistry”, “Puppetry”, and “Engineering” whenever he was not busy with his other more formal, basic ninja studies. It was also during this same period that the various aspects and traits of his lifelong mad scientist personality took permanent root within and eventually came to dominate almost the entirety of Rotwang’s rapidly maturing psychological profile.
This period also saw Rotwang developing the rest of his personality traits as well as personal preferences such as his obsession with intellectual pursuits, his penchant for incorrigible hedonism, his hatred of the concept of perfection, his intense love of the fluffy and jelliform, his caniphobia towards bestial dogs and wolves, and his acrophobia for 300+ m heights to their now permanent forms. After that, Rotwang continued to go about his life from one year to the next until his 28th birthday. At this point, Rotwang’s parents and clan decided to take matters into their own hands and forced him to attend the Kumogakure Ninja Academy to prevent him from whiling away any more time on his auto-didactic studies, but before they could, Kumogakure came under attack by the legendary figure known as “Dragon King Raijin” who had apparently laid waste to the key facilities in the village and so, his Academy debut was put on hold due to him and his family being forced to flee from this harbinger of destruction to ensure their collective and individual safety.
The land that they chose to flee to was none other than “Iwagakure no Sato”, or the “Hidden Stone Village”. As was fully expected by all of them, each of them was met with a great deal of suspicion and resistance from its denizens from the outset due to Kumogakure having been part of the alliance of Kiri-Konoha-Kumogakure which had long stood against Iwagakure on inimical terms, but they persevered onward despite that and then, in the coming months, each of them managed to prove their newfound and permanent loyalty to Iwagakure and each of them earned their permanent citizenship therein successfully, with this taking place by the time that Rotwang had hit his 29th birthday. Once that was done, as an additional gesture of goodwill and good faith, Rotwang was made to go through the Iwagakure Ninja Academy as a part of the newest batch of the Genin prospects for the Iwa village’s formal, standing ninja army. After he entered said Academy, Rotwang progressed through it as fast as he possibly could, all the while ignoring the jeering of his classmates and some of his teachers at how old he was compared to the rest of his peers who were several years his junior in most cases. Thus, after only a single year in the Iwagakure Ninja Academy (i.e., by the time of his 30th birthday), Rotwang graduated at the top of his specific batch thanks to the fact that he had already mastered the basics of all the areas of expertise taught to all Academy Students and since this had given him a significant head start over the rest of his peers at the time.
Additionally, when he was not busy with being made to follow the curriculum foisted upon him by the Iwagakure Academy, he continued his auto-didactic studies in the special skills he had mastered and incorporated into his repertoire (i.e., Engineering, Puppetry, and Chemistry). Besides that, he also took up an interest in and quickly mastered the basics of two additional skills, with one of these being the more specialized and advanced art of “Fūinjutsu” and the other one being the similarly advanced and specialized art of “Sensory” techniques. Naturally, due to his innately high intellect, he quickly became proficient enough in his expertise with each of these that he could deploy each of them both in and out of practice sessions by the time his graduation from the Iwa Ninja Academy came around at long last. After this phase of his training was over, Rotwang took up his formally appointed place among the ranks of the Iwa ninja army as a freshly minted, albeit quite over-aged, Genin. From here, it remains to be seen what will happen to Rotwang and where his life will take him, but it is sure to be an interesting ride all the way.
