It had been some time since Rotwang's latest adventure and this one had come in the form of his formal team assignment notice for getting the details of which he had been summoned to the office of the current Tsuchikage, "Diana Elena Moneta". During this encounter, he had not only met Diana herself as well as the members of the team he had been assigned to along with his commanding officer, but he had also been granted access to the famous Iwa Kinjutsu which Diana had applied to him upon his swift acceptance of said procedure being performed upon him. This procedure had been one wherein Diana created a trio of mouths on his body, with one being on each palm and the last one being on his chest. To his great surprise, he had found that they synced up perfectly with the rest of his body systems, but he had put that matter aside till some future date when he would be better equipped to study the various possibilities of applications for these mouths. Regarding his meeting with the remaining members of the genin team he now belonged to, there were a pair of twin brothers that he had learned as being called the "Blasting Twins" with one being called "Atsu Kotoshura" and the other being "Ito Kotoshura" and then, there was his commanding officer, a female Iwa jonin named "Shigo Kazehana".

Since then, Rotwang had immersed himself once again in his usual routine of assisting his parents with the daily running of the Iwagakure branch of their business conglomerate, SteinCorp, which they had been busy attempting to establish to really set their roots down in this new forever home of theirs and he had also been kept busy with all the other activities and responsibilities that were expected of an heir to a wealthy family like his, a fact that had been much to his chagrin since it had begun to cut into the time he wanted to spend immersing himself in his true passion, namely, his ongoing and ever-burgeoning mad science research, not that he thought of it in such unsavory terms, of course

Now zat I haf finalized zis puppet armor prototype's design skhematiks undt decided on all ze materials necezzary to konstrukt it...I zuppoze, I kannot afoid ze impendink trip to ze schoppink diztrikt any longer...Hmm...vere did I put zat lizt uff materialz zat I vill be needink to purchaze fur zis new prochect?

Rotwang thought silently as he stirred from beneath the veritable mountain of countless research notes on various subjects of interest that he was currently buried under in his own private research lab located in the basement of his family mansion. Then, after he finally managed to drag himself out from underneath said pile of research notes, he dug through said mountain of research notes and rejected blueprint sheets to find the note he had drawn up for himself regarding all the various materials he was going to be buying during this upcoming shopping trip. Then, he proceeded to ready himself, his outfit of choice being his usual scientist's attire consisting of his polarized lab goggles which he wore on his head followed by a white lab coat which had chemical stains on some parts of it along with other signs of wear and tear that was to be expected of such an attire piece of a budding mad scientist like him that he wore on his upper torso, a light-colored formal shirt with a necktie having a knot done in classic Eldredge fashion that he wore beneath the lab coat, dark-colored formal pants that he wore over his lower torso and legs, and finally...a pair of light-colored surgical gloves that he wore on his hands and which had similar chemical stains as his lab coat and his dark-colored patent leather shoes that he wore as footwear.

Of course, Rotwang did realize that this was highly unorthodox for a ninja to wear, but he was not one to care about adherence to convention, so he did not pay it any mind, but instead, he headed out to "Hòu Zhuān Square", aka Iwagakure's shopping district, after informing his family's support staff where he would be for the day. Once there, he wasted no time in locating the shop he needed, and once he spotted the right place, he headed there without delay. Upon arrival, he strode up to the counter and produced the list of materials that he wished to purchase for crafting his puppet armor and informed the employee at the counter of his intentions. After the clerk came back with all the materials he had asked for, he paid said clerk for them and once he was finished with securing these materials in the bags that he was provided, he then made his way to "The Stone Yard" which was the official basic training area for Iwagakure while wondering if he could find a nice quiet spot to set down for his intended work that day, namely his puppet armor crafting project which he had been working on designing for a while now.

Ah, how fortuitouz fur me...zere iz indeet ze nizely izolatet spot afailable fur me here today fur ze purpozez uff konztruktink mein newezt infention...nov zen, vat vould be ze bezt schtartink point fur zis, I vonder?...Hmm, perhepz it vould be bezt to konstrukt zis puppet armor's bazik chezziz firzt undt zen to proceed on to konztrukt each uff ze machor mekenizmz zat I vill be inkludink vizzin it...after vich point, it vould zimply be a metter uff fittink all zose piecez uff zis puzzle into zeir azzigned placez in ze bazik chezziz...

Thinking over the matter thus silently, Rotwang first began by planning out each of the steps on the roadmap to this end goal of his, namely his fully functional puppet armor. Then, he commenced his work with the first of those steps, namely constructing the basic chassis for it, and this he chose to make entirely of titanium from head to toe, with this step consuming 20 of the 44 units of titanium that he had bought from the vendor in the commercial district earlier. Naturally, since the plan was for him to wear this puppet like armor, he ensured to constructed with a humanoid shape, and more specifically, to resemble his own lean build and average height as closely as possible such that he would avoid arousing any unwarranted suspicion towards him about him being armed and protected to any degree, as far as possible. Additionally, he also made sure that he constructed it in such a way that it could cover his real biological body over from head to toe in as thorough a manner as possible.

Once Rotwang was finished with this step, he set the basic chassis aside and began planning for the next step he was going to take toward the completion of this project

Now zat zis bazik chezziz hez been konztrukted fully, ze next schtep vould be to kraft zome zort uff zynzzetik zkin to koat zis puppet armor vith to furzzer enhance ze illuzion vich I am ettemptink to prezent to ze vorlt...I schould probebly alzo make zure to paint it to rezemble ze lifelike kolorz uff mein real body...

Rotwang thought silently thus about the next step, and then, he got down to work on crafting the synthetic skin quickly. This next step consumed 20 of the 30 units of polymer that he had bought from the vendor in the commercial district earlier. The paints that he used in this step were given to him by the staff overseeing the goings on at The Stone Yard upon his request. Naturally, as was the case with the puppet armor's basic chassis, he made sure to craft this synthetic skin in as humanoid a way as possible and in such a manner that it would cover the chassis from head to toe while also resembling his actual skin as closely as possible in every respect. Furthermore, like he had done with the puppet armor, he also made sure to craft this synthetic skin in sections and subsections to allow for more degrees of movement freedom so that he could properly deploy the mechanisms that he had been planning to include in the puppet armor's systemic toolbox and also to make all the movements that he would be performing while wearing this puppet armor to appear as realistically human as possible.

Once Rotwang was finished with this step, he set this synthetic skin coat aside and began planning for the next step he was going to take toward the completion of this project

Zo far, zo good...all hez been proceedink accortink to plen...undt now zat I haf finisched vith mein kraftink uff zis zynzzetik zkin kott...it iss finally time to mofe on to ze zirt undt final schtep in zis prochect uff mine...

With that in mind, Rotwang moved onto constructing each of the mechanisms that he was planning to include in his puppet armor. The first of these was one which had made for two purposes, one of which was to mimic his real hair's appearance and the other of which was to provide him a medium for engaging in ranged combat, albeit only in the short to mid-range distances. This first mechanism involved manufacturing what was essentially a tethered harpoon launcher. To this end, he started by constructing the first of its sub-parts, namely, ten 1' long sharp-tipped spikes which he made in the same section and subsection manner as he had for the puppet armor's basic chassis, with the idea that this would allow them to sway about in sync with the natural rhythm of the movements he would be performing with his body, such as walking or jumping, in the same fashion that his real hair would during such activities. The crafting of these spikes consumed 10 units of titanium out of 24 remaining units of titanium in total that he still had on hand after the completion of the puppet armor's basic chassis. Then, to complete this sub-part, he took the 10 reels of 15' long steel wires out of the bags of materials he had bought and threaded as well as affixed each one throughout the sections and subsections for each of the 10 spikes to connect them to each other to secure them properly.

Once that was over, he moved onto the other of the sub-parts to this first mechanism, this other one being its launching trigger. For this launching mechanism, he took 2 transducers and connected them to the 1 battery he was planning to power it via 2 copper wire reels each of which contained 15' of said wire. After that, he drilled a set of 10 holes in the head portion of the puppet armor and threaded each of the 10 titanium spikes with its associated steel wire spool through each of the aforementioned holes to secure them. Upon finishing that step, to complete the construction of this mechanism, he then affixed the launching trigger he had just crafted to the inside of the puppet armor's head and then threaded the copper wires through each of the 10 holes and interwove them with the steel wires that anchored the spikes to the puppet armor's head and applied the 10 remaining units of polymer he had on hand to them to craft the synthetic coat over each of the spikes in turn to cover it after which he painted each one in the same colors that his real hair now possessed, those being a gradated palette consisting of a blend of white and green which ended up making them look like a cluster of leeks in appearance, much to his amusement. Naturally, as he had done with the synthetic coat he crafted for the rest of the puppet armor, he made sure to craft this synthetic coat to mimic his real hair in every respect possible to further enhance the illusion he was trying to present that this puppet armor was indeed his real body.

Once that was over, Rotwang moved onto the next mechanism on his list, and this was a relatively simpler one since it was merely a set of 4 claw-shaped serrated blades combined with an extension and retraction device, all of which he crafted out of 4 units of titanium of the 14 that he still had on hand at this point. To finish this part, he installed this pair of identical mechanisms in each of the forearms of the puppet armor. Next, he moved onto the third of the mechanisms he was planning to install in the puppet armor, this one being a set of 4 electrical generator systems. He constructed each of these by taking a transducer and connecting that to a battery via a reel of copper wire that was 15' long. He installed each of these 4 generators in each palm and sole of the hands as well as the feet, respectively, of this puppet armor and affixed them securely to the titanium chassis of said puppet armor at those location. Finally, he came to the single most complicated mechanism of the ones he had chosen to include in this puppet armor prototype that he had designed and planned to build for his use, with this mechanism being the one which would allow it to possess flight capacity, albeit only to a limited degree.

To construct this flight mechanism, Rotwang started with the first of its sub-parts, namely the single pair of wings which were 4' each in length and which were the source of the lift and thrust produced by this mechanism. He constructed each of these two wings by using up some of the remaining 10 units of titanium that he still had on hand at this point and, to give them the most maneuverability that was possible, he crafted each one to possess an insect-type wing shape and made sure to do this in the same section and subsection manner as he had done for the rest of the puppet armor's basic chassis. Then, he took the 15' long steel chain he had bought and divided it up into two identical halves, each of which he threaded and affixed throughout the whole length of each of the wing sections and subsections and covered each of these in a polymer coat to make them appear to be real insect wings. Then, he used the remaining units of titanium in small portions to construct each of the multitude of joints, both complex and simple, that this mechanism would be needing to perform its intended function, that being giving the puppet armor heavier-than-air flight capability.

The first of these was a pair of complex joints, each of which comprised of a combination of a sliding and a pin joint. He affixed to each of these to the end of the steel chain segments that he had been planning to fit proximal to the puppet armor basic chassis. Once that was over, he moved onto the construction of the main body of this flight mechanism which he designed to be an exact replica of his natural backbone, with the only difference being that this replica was to be made out of some more of the remaining 10 units of titanium he was planning to use for the construction of this flight mechanism and made sure to include a sturdy internal scaffolding substructure inside it to fix the driver of the wings onto later. He finished this basic hollow containment shell of the flight mechanism by carving two slits which spanned the entire length of this backbone-like construct minus the ends, thus creating a way for him to extend the wings out from this containment unit of theirs, with one being done from each slit.

After that, Rotwang used up some of the remaining titanium out of those 10 units in crafting the slide-crank setup which would be the driver for the wings to allow them to produce the lift and thrust that were required for this flight function. He created this setup by creating a prismatic joint which was to be the slider, levers which he connected via rotational joints to the the prismatic joint to be the crank, and lastly, a single medium-sized gear which he connected to the levers via more rotational joints and then, he connected each end of this entire setup to the titanium backbone construct via a single pair of short rods also made of titanium the other ends of which he connected to the complex joint he had incorporated into each of the two wings of this flight module. Finally, to craft the power source for this whole mechanism, he created the two identical halves of said power source by combining 4 transducers, 15' of copper wire which he extended into and wrapped around the steel chain segments threaded through each of the two wings, and then hooked these to a single battery.

To finish this mechanism, Rotwang installed all of these disparate parts into the backbone-like construct with the wings being contained in retracted fashion for easy storage. Lastly, to complete this final mechanism, he affixed it securely into the back of the puppet armor and thus, he finally finished the construction of this puppet armor in full. Then, he christened it with the technical name and the code-name that he had chosen for it, these being Mechanical Exoskeleton Mk-I and Tálōs Mk-I, respectively, and after he field tested it a few times to make sure each part worked as he had intended it to, he then headed out of The Stone Yard and then back to his lab located in his family's mansion to do the fine tuning and the remaining preparation for the team training session that he had been ordered to participate in by his commanding officer.
