After arriving at the village of "Menzagakure" village and stepping through the gates therein upon completion of the requisite entry formalities, Rotwang then headed to the "Mugen Base Camp" in the hopes of acquiring more information about the mission that he was going to soon be doing in service of the local authorities there in the capacity of one of Iwa's representative ninja who had been sent there. To that end, he immediately went to work to acquire the information that he would need to complete this mission. Fortunately for him, he found that this information had been neatly laid out in a mission scroll which he received shortly after he began inquiring about the mission in question
Hmm...so this is the mysterious castle that has struck such a seemingly intense fear into the hearts of the locals here, eh? How very intriguing, indeed...This will make for an excellent research subject in the coming days...
Rotwang mused thus silently as he looked up to take in the sight of the mysterious floating castle which seemed to be some kind of pagoda-like structure set upon a rocky landmass that had several thick chains issuing from it on each side. Naturally, he was not so overcome with fear as he gazed upon the castle as the locals around him, so he managed to keep his focus tightly centered on his mission objective without too much effort. After committing whatever sensory data he could glean about the appearance of the castle and its general features to his memory, he perused the mission scroll that he had been given by the local authorities
So...judging from the contents of this mission scroll...it would be reasonable to presume that my assignment here is to be part of the scouting team which is charged with the responsibility of locating the set of tags that are keeping that floating castle in a fully materialized and stable state...That sounds straightforward enough, but only time will tell if that will indeed be the case...
Rotwang mused thus silently further as he studied the mission scroll's contents and memorized the appearance of the tags that needed to be located by him in this mission. Once that was over, he rolled up the mission scroll and stowed it in the pocket of his lab coat before setting off towards one of the many chains that he could see dangling from the floating, rocky landmass upon which the castle was situated, ensuring to move at D-tier velocity all the while to avoid tiring himself out since this tag hunt seemed to be one that would require him to use his energies as conservatively as was possible for him. Consequently, it took him a while to reach the beginning of the chain that he was headed to, but he finally did manage to make it there in one piece. After that, he made his way up the chain while moving at the same D-tier velocity as before and using the "Supernatural Walking Practice" that he had learned from his Academy days to ensure that his position on the chain remained stable throughout the trip. After several minutes of uphill movement, he finally reached the entrance to the castle.
That was truly a long climb up to this point...but, at least there were no enemies that ambushed me during the journey up here...However, there does seem to be a guard posted at the entrance to this castle...which will make this mission a fair bit trickier...
Rotwang mused thus silently as he studied his new surroundings, all the while being on full red alert status with all his senses being geared towards attempting to detect and locate any potential traps that may have been laid to deter intruders so that he would not be caught by them. Luckily, he did not encounter any on his way towards the castle gate guard. Once he was within earshot and sight range of said guard, he decided to investigate further, namely by attempting to determine what sort of stimuli could elicit a reaction from the guard in question. To that end, he stepped a bit closer to the guard and then waited to see if there was any reaction
Hmm...no reaction detected from the guard yet...perhaps it is not as sensitive to intruders simply appearing before it...or perhaps...
Rotwang mused thus silently as he studied the castle gate guard further and this time, he tested the guard's reaction potential by picking up a pebble from the ground before him and tossing it in the guard's general direction. Still, there was no reaction to be witnessed from the guard in question, save for a turn of the guard's head in the direction of the pebble which had landed a couple of paces away from the entrance to the castle
That guard seemed to react this time...So it can react to both sight and sound, eh? That data will be useful in making my plans henceforth...Now then, what if an attempt at entering through that castle gate were to be made...
Rotwang mused thus silently as he studied the castle gate guard further and this time, he tested the guard's reaction potential by making his way towards the castle gate and trying to enter the hallway that he could see lying beyond it. This time, the guard attacked him, but Rotwang was just swift enough to perceive this attack that was made against him. Thus, he was able to defend against it successfully, namely by activating his "Puppet Technique" to bring forth one of the handful of mechanisms that he had built into his puppet armor. The specific one he chose for this occasion was the twin, full titanium wings which made up part of the powered flight module that he had installed in his puppet armor which he guided to curve around to the front of said puppet armor at C-tier velocity to block the katana with which the guard was attacking him.
Consequently, he was able to avoid getting struck by the guard's attack successfully, and afterward, he deployed those titanium wings at C-tier velocity to strike at the guard. Upon doing so, he witnessed the guard fading away to nothing, revealing itself to be some form of illusion, albeit one with substantial physical mass. Rotwang committed that observation to memory and then, he headed into the castle's hallway which lay beyond the door he had just passed through before stopping to assess his surroundings yet again in the interest of maintaining his cautious approach.
So far, so good...the guard has been neutralized successfully...but there could still be several more traps inside, so it would behoove me to remain on full red-alert status throughout this mission...Now then, where could these tags be hiding?
Rotwang mused thus silently as he studied the hallway that he was passing through and made sure to note any unusual features that he came across since those could be early warning signs about potential traps lying in wait for his approach. Fortunately, he did not encounter any traps yet and was able to make his way to the end of the hallway successfully, at which point, he encountered a massive door which he then opened carefully to see what lay behind it. Luckily for him, there were no traps in the room either, so he headed inside and spotted a tag that was affixed to a giant statue that was located in the center of the room. So, to complete his mission for this round, he deployed his puppet armor's titanium wings again to strike at the tag, making sure to slice the tag off from the statue's surface as precisely and accurately as he could for proof of mission completion that he could then present to the local authorities. Finally, he pocketed the tag that he had just collected and headed out of the gate of the castle, after which point, he made his way down the chain and back to the "Mugen Base Camp" area of the "Menzagakure" village to rest up for the next round's mission which would presumably involve hunting for more tags.
