“Odd, I wonder what all the fuss is about?” Hibiki questioned herself out loud. Being a bit dense she wondered if maybe they were running towards something like a limited time event. Ditching the stall without paying she continued to shovel the food on her plate down as she leapt over the crowd to the side of a wall, bouncing off it with a kick in order to reach the top of the nearest building so that she could could get a better vantage point and see for herself what the people where either running to or running away from.
She arrived just in time to witness what appeared to be a pale skinned demon or oni judging by the horns on its head being lasered to death. A moment in time that most would consider to be brutal seemed to her to be profoundly beautiful, akin to seeing a particularly cool firework going off. Due to her unique upbringing Hikibi had a young child’s understanding of death at best. People die if they were killed, but what that fully meant was beyond her.
What wasn’t beyond her understanding was the gigantic bug. Part of the aim of Project Divine arms which she had been a part of was to create a weapon able to deal with a Bijuu so naturally her handlers had educated her on them to some minor extent. She’d forgotten the exact number of them but knew that bijuu were giant creatures capable of great destruction created by someone called the Sage of Six paths. Six paths? Why can't they like.. choose One and walk it? Why Six? That seems excessive.
In any case she’d been given crystal clear instructions that if she was to encounter a bijuu out on the field to drop everything and evacuate the area. The scientist had repeated over and over again until it sunk in that she was nowhere near ready to fight one of those colossal creatures. Oftentimes Hibiki didn’t like the directions she was given by her handlers but they had forced her to obey. Now that she was free she didn’t need to heed her old instructions anymore but this was one time she wasn’t about to argue with them. Sometimes discretion was the better part of valor.
Jumping down from the building she began to follow the fleeing crowd. She didn’t know the layout of the town very well so hopefully somebody would be kind enough to help lead her to shelter and safety.
