Returning Mission Report: Grave News from Iwagakure

Ren would pause briefly within the Kamui Dimension, releasing the corpse and taking a military ration pill before stepping through into Konohagakure. Normally he would go through the normal channels of checking in with the secretary and waiting for the Hokage to summon him, but this was not normal circumstances. Ren would appear on the balcony right outside the office of the Hokage, bent down on one knee his head down bowing out of respect despite this being viewed as an intrusion by most. He and Tengoku didn't see eye to eye and one might assume he would try to kill the man, it was better this way, showing the man that he wasn't there to fight him. At the same time, he wouldn't put it past Tengoku to try to kill him either given his attitude towards the man in the past. He wasn't foolish enough to appear before the man unprepared in the eventuality something should happen, as soon as he appeared on the balcony his Life Sense would activate and he would be aware of every living being within a five kilometer distance of where he was. He had been away for many months, an unfortunate side effect that seemed to be attributed to his venture to deal with the problem in Menzagakure. He knew that he would need to explain why he had been gone as long as he had been, but there was a more unfortunate event that was far more important for him to report.

Should the window doors to the balcony be open, Ren would begin speaking immediately. If however the doors were closed he would wait for Tengoku to open the window doors before he spoke. "Lord Hokage, I bring grave news from Iwagakure."

Tengoku would be settled at his desk. Working on another drafted document for a joint training session proposal between three squads. Looking to get used to working together in teams of two while a third either took turns laying traps and ambushes or escaping the other two. The teams meant to rotate every couple of hours and ultimately do this training with meal breaks and camping. A week trip away from their duties around the village. It meant moving another squad or two to cover it. Not that there was a shortage of shinobi. Their war stocks were rebuilding and he had two A rank guards inside the vault now. The investigation still underway but hitting a wall. His equipment was scattered throughout the room on stands for display like ornaments. However each weapon or item was capable of great things. A variety of the physical arts. Tengoku fancied the Samurai after all. His own style similar to an old friends. Still he sat in his black and gold robes. His white hair tied back in a ponytail as strands hung around his face. His boots had his pants tucked into them. His wolf like ears twitching as he worked. 

Still his attention would snap the moment Kamui opened nearby. His attention was drawn to it as the golden rings around his ankles, wrists and upper arms hummed slightly. Ready to activate and shield him. If need be he was ready to both defend against the physical or consume the immaterial. He knew this chakra signature however and smelled....smoke? He would set his pen down and quietly rise from his chair. Pausing for just a moment....Ren could teleport....did that mean he was a suspect for the vault? It would be near impossible to prove it or to investigate the man. However Tengoku made a note to track him himself later. Minds eye would be good for such an event. A tail would just be spotted. Still he would let that be for a later time. For now he would move to the windows and open them leading on the window sill and sniffing again. Ren smelled of smoke and ash. The smell and his words were plenty of cause for concern. Did Diana not come willingly? Did they fight and Ren destroyed a great deal? He had orders but Ren wasn't likely to fully obey Tengoku. Not if he believed his way was better. 

Tengoku would take a breath. Those gold and black eyes looking the man over. He wasn't hurt by any measure. Though chakra had been utilized. Beyond that he had been gone for far longer than he should have been. And to top everything off Zenaku wasn't present. All warning signs. Still he would remain calm as he nodded with a hand gesture to rise. He was impatient with formalities. 

"Give your report Ren."

Ren would stand as Tengoku gestured, he knew the man wasn't going to be happy about the news. "Iwagakure has fallen Lord Hokage, the Tsuchikage Diana is dead." Ren would pause for a moment, knowing that this information was likely to be viewed in a bad light. "I arrived at the gates of Iwagakure to find it under attack, it seems that the rumors I had mentioned in my previous report are true. Raijin is still alive. It was Raijin that was attacking the village, I did what I could to help defend the village and repel the attack forcing Raijin to flee. Unfortunately, the Tsuchikage died during the attack. I did what I could to stabilize the land after the attack, Iwagakure has given us permission to provide aid and support in this troubling time. I promised that Konoha will help in the village reconstruction and protection moving forward, at least until they are stabilized enough to select a new Tsuchikage from what remains of their ranks." Ren's dark blue eyes would finally look up meeting with Tengoku's gaze, "I was unable to bring Raijin to heel, I was only able to beat him back. He is still at large and it is possible that he could attack another village, I request permission to set up a force to try and track the man down. I would like to know how he survived and how he escaped our vault." Ren's tone would hold a small tinge of anger within it, anger that one might assume was due to the fact that he was not able to capture or defeat the Missing-Nin. He knew that there was no evidence of what had happened to the vault, something that he hoped to use to his advantage. He knew Tengoku would be interested in the information from Raijin as well, not to mention the fact that it was Tengoku that announced to the world that Raijin had been dealt with. It would be a sense of honor or rather a sense of pride that the Hokage would want the man dealt with as quickly as possible, and that was but another thing that Ren would be able to use to his advantage.

Tengoku would listen as Ren gave his report. His eyes widening before narrowing. Veins appearing on his neck and temples as well as from the corners of his eyes as his canines would grit. He was furious. His word had been given that Raijin was dealt with. The loss of his head and body had undergone investigation but he was believed dead. Tengoku had even been led to believe the head was all that was left. He knew he should have incinerated it on the spot. All attempts to probe the mind had been for naught. He had tried to prepare for a future threat and hunting the mans forces and allies and gotten screwed in return. Energy crackled in the air around them. Like a static lowly buzzing from a tv the sound of his raiton energy humming around him could be audibly heard. The lights for three city blocks would flicker and a street lamp would pop before Tengoku would let out a shuddered breath. He was enraged but damaging his own village in a tantrum wouldn't solve anything. He was spending a great deal of time utilizing his minds eye these days just watching for threats. Giving himself time to arrive on the scene and deal with them...

All along Iwa had suffered yet again for his hubris. For nothing but pride and naivety. 

Tengoku would take a breath as he felt responsible for this slight. He was going to step down anyway but now he would likely do so and it would be seen as a shameful retreat. Damn that man! Still those eyes would shift to meet the uchihas as he continued. Ren was an effective man. A suspect or not it wasn't reason enough to turn down  the man. Not when Tengoku had already planned something along these lines. He would settle as the energy faded from the air. He wanted to personally kill the man but finding him would have to  come first. That damned day at the gate...what mercy had cost the world. He was slow to draw steel and as a result nations had burned...half the world had burned. He wouldn't hesitate next time. He just needed the opportunity. Still he would speak up with undertones of his anger still in his voice. 

"You have done well. Make sure to send relief supplies. However I will arrange for their economy to run separate and independent of Konohas. Once they establish a new Kage they will have whatever funds they would have otherwise. Diana was the only criminal. Not the whole nation. We help them rebuild. Not steal from them. We will also make sure to establish a couple of squads to guard them from opportunists. They will behave there as they would in Konoha. With honor and kindness to those who have suffered. You will assign those squads and another two squads of ANBU to locate and report Raijins position. You will do all of this with the authority of an ANBU captain. I have commissioned Airi for a new set of gear for you. You can collect the funds for this from the vault. Though now we have positioned a guard inside the vault so you will have to provide identity to them."

As he listened to Tengoku, Ren would maintain a flat expressionless look upon his face. Though he was surprised by it even the mention of him now having the authority of Anbu Captain did not see a change in this expression, however hearing Tengoku speak of Airi, Ren's demeanor would falter slightly. It was only for the briefest of seconds, but it was something that a perceptive individual would easily pick up on. It was no secret that the two had a relationship, and it was Airi that had originally given him the mission for Iwa. When he had left, Airi had been in a coma, which was why Tengoku had returned to his position as Hokage. He had no idea that she had regained consciousness, and it took everything he had not to leave right then to go and see her. He wondered how long it had been since her recovery, seeing as she was already back at work in the forge. He would at least be able to bring her the news of Diana death, which he hoped would put a smile on her face.

Regaining his composure, Ren would straighten himself. "You honor me Lord Hokage, I will not let the village down. I will see to the arrangements immediately, I will hand pick the squads myself to ensure their efficiency. Iwagakure will receive the needed aid and I will ensure only the best representatives are sent to guard them, and the Anbu will track down Raijin and get answers. I also request permission to travel to Kirigakure and warn them of the dangers, if he was bold enough to attack one of the major villages he may attack another. They need to be able to prepare to defend themselves, just as we must, unless there is anything else, I will excuse myself to see to everything."

Unless Tengoku had other matters to speak to him about, Ren would bow to the Hokage and leave the balcony. Jumping down to the street below to carry out the small tasks that he needed to before he make his way to Kirigakure

Tengoku would remain quiet as the man would reiterate some of his tasks. Though certain bullet points hadn't been particularly acknowledged he was confident that Ren wouldn't defy him. Not at least until Airi was in the seat again. She governed differently than he did and he wasn't so certain she would readily release Iwa when it recovered. Despite her being his student she was first and foremost her own person. Still he would consider the matter as he watched Ren leave. Silent as he contemplated how everything was emerging this year. It was a pain if he was being honest. He wished he could go back and correct the mistakes he had made with Raijin. To destroy him and his little army outside their gates. Even now he wanted a shot at the man. His blood was burning but he would close the window and move back to his office chair. Settling in a moment as he focused his chakra into his third eye. Opening minds eye of the Kagura and watching over his nation in silence. Letting his mind wander and look for threats. Ren was back...Diana was dead....Raijin was not. Both Kumogakure and Iwagakure were eliminated by one person. How troublesome was his sleep going to become?
