    The mission:

Third period would start and the kids would be directed to the back lot of the academy. A heavily wooded mountainous area. It was there they would find Tadara and Katsumi waiting. Most of the students at this point preferred Katsumi due to Tadara's lack of emotional connection to well...anything. The bee would buzz in his ear as he would blink and let his dark eyes settle on the children. Once they gathered and formed lines Tadara would explain that Katsumi would be covering practical lessons for surviving such as creating shelter and how to hide smoke when cooking. Identifying tracks and what not. While they worked on these Tadara would be explaining a series of information on what was edible and what was not. Including plants one shouldn't touch or if one was stealthy enough could be used to cause certain effects to their enemies food supply. General information for long term survival in the woods. Or short term espionage in the long run. He would wait for Katsumi to begin the lesson and once the practical part of his lesson began Tadara would have gathered a series of herbs and mushrooms as well as some pictures of certain plants not kept in the academy for good reason.

Third period decended upon them and though Katsumi had changed back into his normal clothes and met Tadara at the back of the academy for their next lesson, Katsumi would still have a towel to dry his hair, leaving the mess as the students arrive and throwing the now wet towel over his shoulder. Katsumi and Tadara would begin their lessons plain enough, Katsumi focusing on first finding and building shelter. How best to place it and secure its standing and where it should be placed.

Of course, there was an element of stealth to it, Katsumi would bring the students into the woods to see him place a quickly makeshift tent and bag down quickly while considering the arrival path of people and enemies. To really manifest it, he would take the students back to the edge of the forest and have them try to identify it, though at first glance none would immediately catch the tent out from the bushes and other debris and that was the goal.

Of course, skilled enemies, Jounin and other sensory types would easily see past the subterfuge but this was the first step and a note Katsumi would encourage. Katsumi would shift on to a quick commentary about setting traps for both food, small rabbits and things they could eat to survive off of as well as setting traps for enemies. Both as a mechanism for alert and another, though undemonstrated in the moment, could be used for catching and killing enemies before they arrived. Everything framed in the idea that survival was meant to keep you and your comrades alive. Any lapse in that, and death could be certain. A hollow and almost forboding tone carrying over.

Tadara would begin explaining by having the children try some edible roots. This they did not appreciate much to be honest. It would keep them alive but aside from some berries most of what was on the table simply tasted terrible. One could survive on it but the pallet did not appreciate it. Of course he would explain some herbs to rub on wounds to prevent infection and show some more poisonous items in the photos for sabotage on their enemies. Including some psychedelic's commonly found in nature. Even ways to attract local predators to an enemy camp. Without considering he was speaking to children he explained that a hallucinating enemy was unlikely to be able to fight off a predator well. Terrorize the enemy and their morale would drop. Poison their supply and they would be starved out and weakened. There were ways to draw out a fight and eliminate an enemy indirectly. He was rather straightforward and detailed about some of the effects much to the horror of most of the kids. When they departed for lunch most of them didn't have an appetite. Still Tadara saw little issue with it as they prepared for the next lesson.

Still, the negativity in it would shift as Katsumi smiled and shifted his lecture towards hiding smoke from a fire, keeping the flame hot while at the same time, in a way that smoke would be minimally produced and not signal into the sky their position. Katsumi even went into some basics of cooking, noting that while red and slightly undercooked meats would be fine in the village where meat was controlled and safe to eat, a wild animal was not the same. Meat needed to be cooked to a very sufficient level and he would show with some samples of fish, cooking the meat through from pink to nearly white, leaving the skin attached for nutrient and letting the various student try the past tender meat.

As Katsumi would finish up, he would take note of Tadara's commentary about the various effects of food and poisons and how that could effect the enemy. While there was a seriousness about both their talks, maintaining their appetite was a difficult thing to do, even for Katsumi at the lingering thoughts of some things.

"Maybe we shouldn't be so somber with the kids..." he would posture towards Tadara for a moment before shrugging. "I guess they're lessons that these kids need to learn at some point anyways. There's just an element to maintaining others innocence to the world for as long as possible, don't you think?" Katsumi would add with a slight melancholy in his voice while clearly wondering about their instruction of these students. While they had the basics, they weren't experts. Katsumi definitely wasn't. Was it their place to teach and impart the lessons and reality of the ninja world?
