Assistant instructors (Part 1)

The mission:

Since Tadara had been spending a great deal of time in the academy library researching jutsu to better prepare him for the field it was easy for the academy to offer him a series of tasks for those still studying on winter break. Academy students that had been falling behind on the basics. It was no surprise to Tadara that they would ask this of them. They informed him someone named Katsumi would be joining him for these courses to ease the work load of the class. Tadara of course paid it little mind. Another individual would do better for connecting with students that needed it. The courses would be split up into hour long periods with half hour breaks in between to review the next course and plan accordingly they said. If they stuck with it through out the day and accomplished the task, the students would be back on course and able to enjoy their winter break and the pay would be substantial for them. That aside Tadara had already forgotten the individual was speaking to him as he idly waved him away. Dark eyes studying his notebook for the technique concepts he was designing. So many jutsu had such limited range.

Katsumi would be teaching people about chakra walking today, or rather... the Supernatural Walking technique in itself and its practice. He wasn't much one for teaching or really imparting understanding but he always had tricks and ideas on how to get things done easily. Arriving, Katsumi would be in his usual training setup, simple clothing on that allowed for free form movement and a t-shirt he recently acquired that had the symbol of the Kotoshura on them. Aside from that, he packed nothing else with him, not feeling an extraordinary need to bring a ton of gear alongside for these missions.

When arriving, Katsumi would find out that he was taking group A, a self-imposed group of those that would wish to learn through trying rather than contemplation. It wasn't a huge group of students, mostly rambunctious types with a habit of interrupting Katsumi and getting ahead of themselves. The vein of frustration building on Katsumi's head would start to build as he would yell out on their training ground, several tall tress picked out for them to climb upwards.

"Look, you imbeciles! You have to build the chakra up in your feet like so," Katsumi would close his eyes and weave the Ram handsign while focusing his chakra. "If you have trouble building up chakra in the right amounts, focus on your feet. If you build up the right amount of chakra, your feet should almost stick to the ground but be under your control. Too much chakra and-" Katsumi would show briefly what just a little too much chakra looked like, distorting the dirt and grass at his feet in a minorly violent fashion.

"You get that, or worse, you chakra can explode and knock you off your feet or break the ground completely. While on the other hand, too little chakra and you won't stick to anything, you can check on your first step if you fall off and onto your ass or not..." Katsumi would stare at two young boys who seemed totally incapable of building their chakra and holding it, almost letting go of it immediately.

When first period started Tadara had already been in the courtyard. Wearing black slacks with a white button up shirt and a black coat with the Iwa symbol on it in place of his headband. It reminded him of his lab coat and he rather preferred it. His boot would tap as he waited for everyone to gather. Finally once the class and his mission partner had gathered a bee would buzz in his ear to bring his attention. Ah yes the people were ready. He would quickly divvy up the group. Those who preferred hands on training would be assigned to team A with this Katsumi character. Those who understood more through study and theory like Tadara would be assigned to team B. A prize pot of honey biscuits would be the reward for the first team to reach the top. Tadara would take his group and review the details in an almost monotonous tone. Explaining the theory behind tree climbing as well as the percentage of chakra he used to climb with. Never actually exerting himself. However his class would pick it up quickly as intellectuals usually did and by the end of the period they had all managed to reach the top. Not first by any stretch but still they finished before the bell rang and they proceeded to take their half an hour break before the next course. The treat going to the more physical children.

When all was said and done though, the group of students had all had their turns at breaking the ground, falling on their ass, and getting better at controlling their chakra while moving. Katsumi's partial berating and note of how their bodies moved and where their eyes watched and moved. It all gave way to understanding where their focus was and where their mistakes were.

And beyond that, it seemed that in the end, those most ready to jump into things got a head start with practicing the move and getting further along. By the end of the period, the last student had reached the top of the tree and his group would be taking the inconsequential victory, however, for Katsumi the only prize was a moderate headache that had built up in dealing with these students. Still the prize had been distributed to them and Katsumi offered the idea of placing it in the classroom for later to have at lunchtime as a bit of a desert. Some students dismayed at wanting to try them immediately, while others accepting of the change. Katsumi would merely smile towards Tadara who seemed to have a bit of caring in him to offer something like that to the students. At least, in a first impression kind of way.
