Have a Craft

Post 1
First order of business on Akeno’s part is to get to work on this lumber. Her shadow clone just came back to her with the supplies for Akeno’s upcoming trip. “Get me about one and half feet strip of leather from this.” Akeno hands the clone the leather she had acquired recently. Luckily the clone thinks, acts, and appears to be like herself so the cloned Akeno got to work with a sharp knife and measuring what to cut. The phoenix lets out a sigh as she goes to tie her dark hair up to a high tail in order to keep her hair out of the eyes.

With a chisel and a small hammer in Akeno’s hands. She breaks off the bark and piles the bark next to the log. It wasn’t a long process for Akeno only needs a small section of the wood. Still in order to get a clean cut Akeno goes into detail about removing the bark to see what to cut and what not to cut. Especially if she hits a knot which is a pain on its own yet easy to spot. Sap oozed out of the bark and was beginning to coat Akeno’s chisel. Luckily she’s used to this kind of thing and occasionally she’ll wipe off the excess sap onto the log itself.

Once she has cleared off exactly 1’x1’ Akeno would draw out another knife to more or less make a shallow line of cuts until it is shaped like a small box. The next step is tedious, but Akeno hammers her chisel into the wood. Lightly enough to where the wedge wouldn’t damage the nearby wood of the log. Yet hard enough to put a dent on it. She repeats this process along the lines until Akeno literally has nearly a perfect cube of wood in her hands. “Lovely. Now i can get into the carving process.” Akeno looks over at her clone with the leather before asking. “How’s that leather coming?” The cloned Akeno looked up from her work and shows a good foot and half of leather in a striped form.

With the leather done already, Akeno went ahead and dismissed her shadow clone for now. Grabbing her whittling knife in hand, Akeno was swift and accurate as she beginning to carve on the cube. Wooden shavings tend to fly past her shoulder while others simply fall to her feet. About quarter of the way done it soon takes on the shape of a wooden sphere. For what she’s making is going to have a circular shape. It took her some time Akeno will admit before the sun was beginning to set for the day. Yet in her hands is a hand sized sphere of wood.

Akeno starts etching a design at the center which takes up half of the sphere’s diameter. Making a blank outer shell of the sphere as she etches with her knife to make a flaming phoenix design. The jounin begins whittling again, but only to dispose of the outer shell so the sphere now becomes barely the size of her palm. However the phoenix design remains untouched from damage as Akeno was careful around it. Now she etches more of the design around the edge to make it appear the phoenix is wrapped around the sphere with its fiery tails. For there is the front of the phoenix, and then there is the back of the phoenix.

With the etchings and carving out of the way. Next is the step that Akeno has to be extra careful with. Sanding the sphere to smooth out the wooden object. Luckily with a sandpaper in hand, Akeno can be sure not to scrub too deep on the sphere for fear of erasing the etched design. It didn’t take her long luckily before Akeno was finished smoothing it out.

Now the fun part where Akeno gets to use her ink brush with some ink. Making sure to blow off the sawdust from the sphere Akeno exhales to do just that. Once it was settled, Akeno begins to put ink on the design. As her brush traces the lines, Akeno begins to pour her chakra into the object. Once she was finished with her tracing of ink, Akeno finished her enchantment as the item took hold of the fire chakra. Not exactly finished quite yet, Akeno sets to creating a small hole at the top sides of the talisman so Akeno can slip the strip of leather through it. Finishing the whole crafting process by tying the two ends of the leather strip together, yet creating a neat little binding where she can adjust the size of the necklace. Still, it is done now and it is night time now.
