Hailing from the salty waters of a large bay between the Land of Fire and the Land of Water, the Octopus Clan is a solitary band of critters that tend to keep to themselves. Having little control over the natural waters that they reside in they possess an innate talent for Fūton chakra control, perhaps influenced by the twirling energy created by the series of rocky protrusions that forms the perpetual maelstrom at the entrance to their tiny village. This unique landmark has even shaped its name as the Village Hidden in the Maelstrom. Another focal point of their training involves kenjutsu, having skilled smiths who make their uniquely designed blades (purely for flavor and involvement with Maelstrom Blades Perk). They hold great respect for those with control over Suiton as well as skilled kenjutsu users, aligning with many Kirigakure and Kumogakure shinobi over the years with the natural affinity to their two main shinobi practices.

Summoning Method: Tentacle-themed tattoos are inscribed on the user, the size and location are determined at the time of inscription. A larger surface area of tattoo is beneficial as the unique method by which the octopus clan are summoned is by pulling themselves through the inked skin that acts as a portal for them. To enact this summoning process one must simply speak aloud any summon’s name to allow those named to exit via the tattoos. Octopus can squeeze through extraordinarily small spaces, allowing even behemoth octopus shinobi to pull themselves through, though creatures of such size would require ample surface area such as the entirety of one's back to be inked. Any number of non-behemoth-sized octopuses can fit through the tattoo's surfaces while only one behemoth-sized octopus can fit at once, as well as requiring the entirety of said back piece amount of space. If the user is made unable to speak they will be unable to open the connection with their tattoos for their summons to come forth from or leave back home from. This applies while one's head is firmly submerged below the earth but not when they are submerged in water, allowing the octopus to be summoned more easily into their natural element.
Requirements: Must sign one's name in the octopus scroll to be able to summon animals from this clan. The next step in the initiation is getting the tattoos required for the summoning process, one that is administered by a ceremonial octopus tattoo artist during the initiation.
Drawbacks: Octopus summons receive a -1 Tier to Speed while outside of water.

Maelstrom Blades: Every octopus shinobi has a set of eight katana forged for them upon their shinobi academy graduation, their quality equaling the summons rank, not to exceed A. These blades are also made to order for each individual, being smaller for a tiny octopus and appropriately oversized for the truly behemoth octopus shinobi. Though larger swords will provide a problem with their unique summoning method of traversal through the tattoos surface area, making them all but impossible to bring through traditional means. The octopus decides to bring the swords with them at their time of summoning, allowing them to opt to leave the weapons behind if desired. The design of these katana are like that of undulating waves, operating best in water where they grant a boost of ++ to Coordination for swordplay. If harmed or destroyed, these katana can be remade at the octopus village for free after one IRL week has passed starting from when they are unsummoned. The boost with these katana are only afforded to members of the octopus clan, no one else may gain them when wielded in water.
Sheathed and Ready: Contract holders are capable of summoning a single shinobi octopus per topic without their name spoken aloud but instead said within the summoner’s mind. If the tattoo’s full surface area is in contact with water the user is capable of calling for multiple names within their mind and bring forth multiple summons if desired and able when summoning this way.
