Perfect Octopus Sages
Octopus Sages learn from the elders of the Octopus Clan in the Swirling Depths of the Village Hidden in the Maelstrom. Those that pass their rigid training count themselves amongst the people that have learned to perfectly balance the Senjutsu Chakra to the point that their body reaches the peak blend with Nature Chakra, granting the full abilities of Sage Mode and changing only the eyes and surrounding areas to be similar to that of an octopus with horizontal pupil design.
Perfect Sages receive a 1 Tier Unique Boost to Strength, Constitution, Speed, Coordination, and Perception while Sage Mode is active
Imperfect Octopus Sages
Imperfect Sages are those that are taught Sage Mode from Perfect Sages. This is easier in that human Sages will generally have looser guidelines than animal Sages for the Sage selection process, but Perfect Sages are less capable at teaching Sage Mode than are their own teachers. Because of this, Imperfect Sages are less efficient at melding Senjutsu Chakra with their own bodies, causing slight morphing and fewer enhancements. These physical changes can vary by users but will generally resemble in some way the animals from which that Sage Mode originated.
Imperfect Sages receive a Unique Boost of ++ to Strength, Constitution, Speed, Coordination, and Perception while Sage Mode is active.
Senjutsu Technique Enhancement
By mixing Senjutsu Chakra into a technique, Sages are able to enhance the power and effectiveness of that technique. This can create techniques referred to as Sage Arts, or can simply improve the power rank of a regular jutsu by 1. To do this, the Sage need only spend half of the technique's cost with the pool of Senjutsu Chakra, while using the normal chakra pool for the other half. This ability is available to both Perfect and Imperfect Sages.
Sage Kata
To further a Sage's fighting ability, the animal Sages have developed Kata specific to themselves. The Octopus Kata rages particularly fiercely, burning 10 extra points of Senjutsu Chakra to force the body into this enhanced state.
Octopus Kata
Receive an increase of +1 Tier to Intelligence. Additionally, the number of Precognition Save uses the user has remaining reduces the cost of any Senjutsu enhanced technique or Sage Art by that amount, never reducing any lower than 1 CP and only affecting the cost from the Senjutsu Chakra pool and not the cost from one's Stamina Chakra Pool. This cost reduction has no effect on any costs for Sage Mode Upkeep, Octopus Kata, or the Custom Sage Mode Exclusive Technique.
Senjutsu Chakra Pool
The Senjutsu Chakra Pool is the energy reservoir drawn from when using Sage Mode and what is spent in the technique enhancement ability mentioned above. The amount of Senjutsu Chakra available is based on the amount of training put into Sage Mode. It takes a careful balance and is therefore difficult to expand, forcing Sages to spend 50 Experience Points to increase the pool by 10 points. Every Sage's Senjutsu Chakra Pool starts out at zero points but then slowly grows as they invest experience. The absolute limit to their Senjutsu Chakra Pool is half of their base Stamina stat's points.
Sage Mode Upkeep
While in Sage Mode, Sages use a constant draw of Senjutsu Chakra from their pool. This begins at the cost of 20 points per post, but by spending 500 Experience Points, Sages can halve that value to 10 points per post. Perfect Sages are able to do this again, spending another 500 Exp Points to bring the cost down to 5 points per post.
Because of these costs, Sages may find themselves depleting their Senjutsu Chakra pool rather quickly, providing a need to renew that energy. By remaining completely still, the Sage can effectively become one with nature, allowing Nature Chakra to flow into his body that he immediately converts to Senjutsu Chakra. This is one of the hardest parts of mastering Sage Mode, but it is a vital skill for any Sage to learn. Remaining still requires that the user wait 72 hours before their pool is filled to 100%. No partial wait times are permitted, the user must wait the full 72 hours or nothing is gathered.
Alternatively, a player can do a mini "flashback" recalling that they gathered Sage chakra at a previous point in time. This allows the user to start with 50% of their Sage Pool filled by paying 250 Experience upon entry into the thread. It requires that the user actually have 250 Spendable Experience available per their most recent update and that they declare their exercise of this option in an OOC note in their post. If they fail to make this declaration in their entrance post, they may not exercise this option.

Description: With Sage Mode and the Octopus Kata both active the user is capable of shrouding themselves in a water chakra cloak in the style of an ankle-length haori by condensing a truly immense amount of water into this cloaked form. This cloak affords varying levels of effects to the user based on the source of the water, its weakest state coming from chakra based water and increasing in power when formed with natural water to its peak when formed with natural sea water. The amount of water required is also of particular note, requiring a small lake-sized amount of water either created from chakra, taken from a suitably sized body of water such as a large river or reservoir or the ocean itself. For a chakra based comparison, Water Release: Great Exploding Water Colliding Wave and similar sized Suiton jutsu provide enough water. The Speed at which the cloak forms is also determined by the source, with the naturally tied sources being more receptive with the Nature Chakra and adhering quicker.
With the chakra cloak formed using any source of water the user gains the ability to pay for the entire cost of Sage Art techniques that utilize the Suiton element with their Senjutsu Chakra Pool. This also increases the power of Sage Arts by a single rank when used in this manner as it becomes a Kata Enhanced Sage Art. These Kata Enhanced Sage Arts may benefit from the Senjutsu Chakra cost reduction provided by the Octopus Kata.
With the varying levels of water sources, each tier provides added benefits while the chakra cloak is active. When formed from a chakra-based water source the user gains the ability to weave half of the required hand seals, rounding up, for Suiton techniques while the cloak is active. When formed with natural water the user also gains the ability to reduce the hand seals of a single Suiton technique while the cloak is active. When formed from natural ocean water the user also gains the ability to reduce the cost of Suiton techniques by one as well as allowing the user to use up to two Suiton techniques with their hand seals reduced down to one per topic while the cloak is active.
Weaknesses: As is the case with typical Sage Arts, the cost of this technique’s Activation and Upkeep is to be split between the user’s normal Chakra Pool and Senjutsu Chakra Pool though may not benefit from the cost reduction given by Octopus Kata, nor having its full cost spend in Senjutsu chakra. Requiring a tremendous amount of Senjutsu chakra to utilize with the already inflated cost of the Octopus Kata this technique is not well suited for extended use. Further restricting its availability is the requirement of large sources of water, requiring the right environment or means to provide these beneficial water sources in arid environments. Further draining on the Senjutsu reserves is the ability to fuel Sage Arts entirely with this limited stockpile, leaving this technique and Sage Mode as a whole less and less available.
