In for the Long Haul, Part 2 Empty In for the Long Haul, Part 2

Post by Diana Sun Jan 02, 2022 5:30 pm

Mission Name: To Protect & Serve
    Mission Type: Bodyguard
    Mission Rank: B
Mission Goal: Protect a wealthy Family
Description: A member of a wealthy family within the land of earth has had his life threatened on several occasions. He would like personal protection until the threat is dealt with, guard the member through their daily routine and eliminate the threat.
    Payment: 25k Ryo
    Requirements: C-Class

Nobles; Diana just didn't know what to make of them. On one hand, they were the people she often hated the most; greedy, self-centered, and full of themselves. On the other hand, be it from their own work or their family's they earned said money, and when one needed a backer they were the people even Kage had to bend a knee to. As such when Diana found out she needed to take a mission to act as a stipend for Project: Irena, she hemmed and hawed, but she still took the job. However, when she had taken the mission, she had also decided to have a little fun and mess with the request. They wanted body guards? Well, they would get body guards, and while Diana knew for a fact she could handle the mission by herself, she had sent a clone to Adam Jensen as to whether or not he would want to participate, and thankfully he agreed.

She had arrived at the mission location early, having done a quick scope around the place just to make sure no unwanted intruders were around, as well as gather the chakra signatures of those in the mansion before knocking on the door and being greeted by the bodyguard. Showing her credentials she entered and was directed to the VIP for the day. After exchanging physical greetings, he'd speak up.

"Hello there, and thank you. When I heard that the Clan head herself was coming to offer her protection for the day, I was quite ecstatic."

"Please think nothing of it. All I ask is a few copies of your schedule so that my associates will be able to assist in their fullest."

"Right, you did come early. Very well, you shall have them. Miss Valent, chop chop!"

The 'secretary' in quickly wrote out several copies of the schedule in question, then handed them to Diana, who gave a small nod in thanks as she noted a familiar signature and...one(?) two(?) more signatures enter her range.

"Thank you. I believe my companion has arrived, if you would please excuse me."

The VIP would nod, and Diana excused herself from the room, heading downstairs to go and see both Adam, of whom she was expecting, and this new signature that had entered her range.

In for the Long Haul, Part 2 Empty Re: In for the Long Haul, Part 2

Post by CestrellFROST Sun Jan 02, 2022 5:40 pm

Adam woke up early. As he absently clawed through the darkness for his alarm, he sighed. He neither was a morning person, nor was he able to see in the dark. Two things that made him reconsider about just going back to sleep. However he couldn't. Not only did he have a mission, but also did he give a personal promise. “I will be there”, he said the day earlier when Diana told him about a mission he should be attending too. Not that Diana needed his help in any way. But she seemed to have found a liking at Adam, either for the fact that he was at least a little bit competent in the few things he could do, or because he was willing to take her lessons to heart. After all she seemed like a wise person, especially compared to Adam. Thinking back about it, his teachers once said that he was as good as any other student, if he just believes in himself for a second.

As he finally got his alarm after what felt like hours he sighed yet again before he swung his feet out of his bed and got up. Immediately stepping onto the liquor bottle of last night, he fell back into his bed where he furiously jolted back forward, grabbed the bottle and flung it into the wall, where it broke into dozens of pieces. While he was up early, so he could make sure he was at his best today, he neither had the time or patience to deal with this now. Taking a quick shower and dressing himself in one of his nicer trenchcoats he had, he went into his kitchen before thinking shortly. Deciding that coffee was something that nearly every person liked or at least was ok with he set up a can of it. While he waited for the coffee to be done he readied 2 portable thermos. He surely was needing a coffee and while he didnt know if Diana was drinking coffee at all, he would be offering one to her too.

Going to the address he was given the day before, Adam strolled through the village and arrived at sunset there. Knocking on the door he got greeted by a bodyguard that wanted to know his business. Showing the bodyguard his armband, the body guard let him through quickly. Inside her saw Diana. Waving his hand at her he stated:

“Good morning Diana… mind for some coffee?”, as he pulled out a thermos out of his pocket and held it towards her. Wether she accepted or not, he would be willing to listen to her plan for today and pull through with whatever she had planned with the VIP.

In for the Long Haul, Part 2 Empty Re: In for the Long Haul, Part 2

Post by Kaori and Aji Jin Sun Jan 02, 2022 5:43 pm

It was undeniable that many people found Aji to be creepy. From the black robes and the mask, to the fact that they could not stand to wear shoes and the way that they presented themselves. Many people had no idea what Aji even was. People who were not afraid of Aji were very special to them.

Because of Adam’s natural incarnation not to offend anyone, he was very nice to Aji. As a result Aji decided that they wanted to be his friend. First, they had to figure out what he enjoyed. So they followed him to his home in order to stalk him and find out what he liked. With the use of the hiding in shadows technique, hopefully Adam would not notice them. They followed Adam through town until he arrived at a house and entered. Was this his house. Aji was excited to see. Aji found a nice little corner to hide in and looked through a window.

He was having some coffee with another individual, a woman, and somebody that Aji vaguely recognised. They were a bit jealous of the casual way that she and Adam spoke. The confidence was something that reminded them of their sister. This woman seemed to hold a certain authority too, judging by the way she dressed and presented herself. If Kaori were here, Aji would already know her name. They wished that they had told Kaori of their plans today on some level, but doubted that Kaori would be willing to help.

She remained in this location, watching the two of them converse, until they suddenly became very active and started moving with purpose. Aji ducked around and lowered herself.l.

In for the Long Haul, Part 2 Empty Re: In for the Long Haul, Part 2

Post by Diana Sun Jan 02, 2022 6:37 pm

With the arrival of her student (was he? ehh, he was close enough to one now) she gave a small nod and waver her hand in regards to the coffee. "Thank you for the offer, but I am fine." She didn't have the heart to tell him she wasn't much of a coffee fan, but still appreciated the gesture. Whatever the chakra signature she felt was, it wasn't on Adam, so she would need to look into that soon. Reaching into her bag, she would hand him a sheet of paper. "Here is a copy of the Noble's schedule. I want you to stay closer to him, as I will be watching from the shadows to surprise the likely intruder. Speaking of which, someone had followed you, though their chakra levels were about the same as your own. I will have a clone keep an eye on them, so do not worry."

Preforming the clone sign, a copy of Diana appeared and stepped outside to watch the mysterious shinobi. Their chakra levels were low enough Diana wasn't concerned, but as their job was to watch for threats. Diana herself took to one of the side rooms and, with a clap of her hands, changed he appearance, & chakra signature to be that of one of the handmaidens who were around the house. She then picked up a duster and began work, keeping an eye out for anything suspicious as her clone just kept watch on this strange individual who dressed like a cultist, dropping one of the cloned copies of the schedule to see what they would do with it.

It hadn't taken long, several chakra signatures came and went, but eventually one came up that had an abnormal amount of chakra, likely the target who was trying to make the noble's life harder. From an outward appearance they seemed to be a noble, but the minute jingle of knives under their clothes told her otherwise, so she followed. The man had made his way though the mansion, and as soon as he had seen the Noble his pace sped up, and Diana took action. She'd pick up her own pace and passed him, then brought her hand onto the would-be assassin's face (why didn't he wear a mask?) and applied the Five Element's Seal right to it, pushing her hand forward and dropping her disguise at the same time to make it look like she had more strength than what she actually had; the man making a loud thud as he hit the floor. Reaching into the man's coat, she did indeed find two knives that were clearly not meant for cutting food.

"Apologies for the disturbance sir, but it seems your would-be attacker chose a rather poor method of attack. Continue on as before." She'd pick up the unconscious man and moved him to a secure enough place in the building, that of a small jail cell the noble had installed into his home for 'personal use', and continued on with guarding till sunset when their mission was done for the day, where the Noble would dismiss the both of them for a job well done, Diana taking the man to the shinobi jail for further questioning.

In for the Long Haul, Part 2 Empty Re: In for the Long Haul, Part 2

Post by CestrellFROST Sun Jan 02, 2022 6:46 pm

Seeing how effortlessly Diana handled the threat all  by herself, while Adam put up a protective wall around the vip with his sand made him stare at her in slight awe again. She certainly was a force of nature, and a powerful one at that. To Adam it seemed like there was no foe that she wasnt able to defeat. THough to be fair, the assasins werent trained shinobi either. With all the shinbi that Iwagakure had, it was even a wonder that there was so much crime within the city. After all, a normal person did often not even nearly stand a chance against a shinobi and even if they did, shinobis were military. They werent lone wolves usually, and if they were, they were dangerous beyond good and evil.

As Diana came back to them, Adam muttered under his breath:

Wouldnt mind mind learning this trick too…”, as he shook his head slightly. He still coulnt understand what it was that made her even take her with him. However, as long as he got payed, he wouldnt mind tagging along all the time. And aside of the very good money he was getting, he also learned quite a few things even by watching her do what she did.

Looking her now in the eyes, his Sunglasses dispersed into the fine crystals that they were in reality.Asking her: “What now boss?” He waited for an answer. While the two of them didnt make their agreement usually in such a way, it was clear that Diana was the way more powerful and way more experienced one of the two, therefore she was the leader. It didnt mean that Adam would blindly follow her into anything, but she at least had her respect since she saved him back then. Even moreso she was a comrade. As Diana explained the plans the vip had for the day to come, Adam and diana accompanied him.

Seeing as the rest of the day was going rather smooth, they were able to finish their mission without further incident. Either any potential assasin got scared away by the fact that Diana took out thier predecessors at ease, or there simply werent any more there that thratened the lift of their employer. At least for today. As they finally reached the house of the vip again, the bodyguards took over once more. The vip, now signing the mission contracts as fulfilled, thanked both of them and left them on their way home.

In for the Long Haul, Part 2 Empty Re: In for the Long Haul, Part 2

Post by Kaori and Aji Jin Mon Jan 03, 2022 12:46 pm

Aji beleive that they had managed to remain stealthy, but this was only because they could not hear the discussions that the unknown woman was having with Adam. She did seem somewhat suspicious that something was going on. However, if she knew Aji was around she did not react as they followed the pair through town. Somehow, Aji had entirely missed the clone that was now watching them. The woman transformed into a handmaiden, which was something that Aji did observe. They considered for a moment that that was a jutsu they would not mind learning themselves.

Aji watch the pair as the woman spent some time pretending to at as if she were a simple employee and judging by the way she reacted to the presence of a man who seemed like a noble, Aji guessed that they were a sensor ninja. Which meant that they had likely notice that Aji had been watching them, and they were being attacked. So, it stands to reason that this woman probably believed that Aji was some kind of enemy. They slithered around the back of the house, exposing a bare foot from under the robe every step, until they pooped open a window in another room and climbed inside. It was now that thay had noticed the clone that was following them, and they did a very awkward bow.

"Greetings, Adam's friend," Aji said, trying to seem like less of a threat, they showed their hands. "My name is Aji, I am very sorry for disturbing you. Umm... I wouldn't mind being of assistance if that is possible and reasonable."

Aji watched hesitantly as the clone made their approach. Aji's feet shuffled around as they wanted to make an escape but knew that now was a bad time for that.

Diana's clone had watched the strange shinobi throughout the day, staying out of sight and not really needing sensory to keep track of them as the main body went about their job. The more Diana watched this curious child, the more she had wondered if they were a possible threat. They had decided to try and enter the place, but to Diana's grateful concious had stopped as they had seen her clone sitting on a nearby pole and spoke instead of engaged in combat.

The clone would give a quick gesture to herself as she answered the girl(?)'s question. "I am Diana, and unfortunately the shinobi quota for the mission is filled for the day. More then that though, you are very lucky that I caught sight of you before you properly stepped foot inside seeing as it is my mission to guard the place from intruders." The clone sighed, the proper protocol was to punish the genin for interrupting the mission (even if it was tangentially), and by law she had to do something, but she was also the clan head of two groups, she knew how to twist the law just a bit. "Now, I will wave this mistake as you have been complying, but there will be consequences to these actions. There are a few missions coming up that I will need additional hands for, so I expect your assistance for these mission. You will still earn your pay, but they will not be easy either."

Diana briefly wondered if what she was doing counted as extortion, but decided that it wasn't seeing as they had offered their assistance, and had nearly invaded a home that didn't look to be their own. "For now, please continue on with your day and be more mindful of those who are working. I will make sure to get in contact with you when the time comes." The clone would wait for the Genin to leave the premises before poofing back to Diana, having spent enough time dealing with paperwork as it was.

In for the Long Haul, Part 2 Empty Re: In for the Long Haul, Part 2

Post by Kaori and Aji Jin Mon Jan 03, 2022 3:43 pm

Aji remained in a bowing position throughout their conversation. Aji had broken numerous laws by being here and by potentially interfering with their mission, so Aji would be in trouble, but Diana, that was the name she had given, was willing to overlook it if Aji agreed to assist her in some missions in the future.

Aji looked up nervously, before once focusing on the ground to avoid eye contact. "Yes ma'am. I shall assist in whatever way I can." Not only was this a good opportunity to learn things from somebody they were betting was far stronger than them, it also allowed them to spend more time with Adam, and hopefully befriend him. If they succeeded, maybe they could test their newly developed friend making skills on others as well. Maybe she could even get Kaori to like her.

Aji was instructed to leave the area. They climbed back out of the window and made their way back home. They planned to spend the rest of their day reading a book about the psychology of friendship in hopes that it might help them be better friends with Adam in the future. As soon as the clone saw that they had left the area, they vanished into a puff of smoke. Aji was left to disappear down the alleys and hide once again as she made her way home.
