Grave Digger [D-rank]

Shin had a slow start to his day thus far, so it had been surprising when he had been the one to arrive a bit later out of the two of them. The two of them being between himself and Katsumi. Today’s mission was morbid, especially when Shin had read over the mission details. People dying was a natural thing – or influenced by other humans when it came to battles between shinobi – so it wasn’t new that a body required a resting place. The morbidness of the situation came when it read that there were not enough graves prepared to put a body to rest. The idea of members of a family needing a resting place near their loved ones had him slightly falling into the loop of his thoughts about his parents, though that was quickly erased. As he approached the area where they would be digging up the graves, Shin would accept the shovel that Katsumi offered him and gave him a slight nod in greeting. “Is it just the one?” Shin would ask a few minutes into their process of digging up the potential gravesite. Shin was getting to the point of being exhausted when it came to these tasks that could be assigned to just about any citizen, but at the end of the day, it would be some ryo in his pocket that he would otherwise not have at this moment.

The fact they had to dig up three graves meant that these graves would be filled by three more people sooner rather than later. Shin would glance towards the flag markers indicated on the ground – markers that he had not spotted earlier – and it was sufficient to say that three more individuals would be buried here. As they dug down the first grave, Shin followed Katsumi’s lead and began to put the dirt they would dig up on the side where it would be reused to fill the grave once a casket was lowered into it. Shin would know the moment they were nearing the depth of what they were required to dig, his own height indicating when they would be six feet in and then just an additional foot was required beyond that. Shin kept to being relatively silent as they would go about the laborious task before they would eventually move on to the second grave that would have the exact same specifications as the first – all three were identical. Shin tried to keep himself from thinking further of the situation, though he knew eventually everyone would require one; he just had a lot he wanted to do for himself before his fate would meet the same end as everyone else. The day would go on by normally before they’d move on to the third grave. Much like the first two graves, Shin kept to himself as they dug up the site. Once the third was dug up uneventfully, Shin would take his leave for the day and return home.
