As Rini had left her desk to go to the front of the room, she took her test with her, knowing something might happen and she'd need to have one in the end, in case someone tried to steal the tests in the room or in case someone tried to mess with the tests and destroy them. Even though the test wasn't something she thought really needed filled out it was easier to have it just in case. She honestly was just going to steal whoever's test she wanted to and replace the name with her own on her way out. The written portion of this test was such a joke, it couldn't possibly be the real test, but she had to cover her bases at least.
While she went through her monologue, she used the test as a reference guide when she mentioned it during the monologue, to give herself a reason for having it in the first place without seeming too suspicious.
Everything went pretty much as Rini had expected, something she wasn't really surprised with. Her pretending to be the proctor had gained quite a deal of attention, with someone even speaking over her while she herself was finished speaking. Trying to show her up on her intelligence. Rini had been correct in her assumption of Toshiyuki, he was quite intelligent, and saw through her little play, offering her a chance to prove herself by not needing the test.
She would have let him take it, but the situation changed as she had seen the Pop Star drop the transformation, and Rini crumpled her test up before Toshi could steal it from her and shoved it into her bra, before zipping her hoodie up to give it extra protection from thievery. He'd have to physically pry it from her in order to steal it from her if he was so inclined, and Rini had a sense about him that he was pretty awkward, like her. He put on a show, but that's all it was, same for Rini. Grabbing a girl in a room full of people wasn't likely to happen.
There was no longer a reason to pretend to be the proctor anymore though, as the proctor had actually revealed herself. Rini had been suspicious of the pop star for a while. "
Knew it." Pushing her glasses back up on her nose again, Rini's attention was partially drawn there, but she kept an eye on Toshi for any fuzzy business he might attempt.
The proctor's name dropping was a sure bet that she was in fact the proctor, as only she would know the names of everyone in the room. She confirmed that the written test was never the test, and anyone who thought it was should leave the room. Nami passed the test, and Sin, Baraka, and Chigetsu failed. Zeke was mentioned, but she didn't say he passed, just that she was sure to see him in the next round, since he had potential. However, he was singled out, so it was likely he would pass. Rini herself was then mentioned, and that while she didn't seem like the type who would pass, she'd proven her mental skills to be quite sufficient, so failing her would be pointless, her true test being in the next round.
Rini frowned. Again, not a full confirmation. Enough ambiguity, and Rini's mind immediately picked up on the nuances. The room had only two rules. Don't begin until the proctor said so. And complete all 10 questions. Box number 1 was fulfilled, the proctor had been confirmed to have earlier said to begin. But the 10 questions still needed to be completed otherwise it was only half finished. Her frown turned into a grin. She understood. Just because she'd passed didn't mean she didn't have to finish the test. Marks and all that. Or Hua Li could still change her mind.
That said, Rini wasn't surprised that she'd be passing. The test was a mind fuck for sure, but all the clues were there if someone was looking for it. The genin had already concluded that from the very beginning, and that's what she'd explained too. Information was always around, if you paid attention to things.
And then it happened. Chigetsu snapped, the prospect of losing having finally pushed her over the edge. Rini had seen it coming for a while. It was why she had chose to fail Chigetsu earlier. It's probably why Hua Li had actually failed her too. As she was, Chigetsu wasn't Chuunin material. Setbacks worse than this would happen, and if she was nearly crying just because of a test, then if it was a life or death situation, she'd be screwed. Worse, her teammates could be screwed. And yet, when backed into a corner, the truth of her character was revealed.
Chigetsu wasn't going to give up.
It was the look around before hand that clued Rini into Chigetsu's mindset. The pinkette had eyed up the sprinklers, and Rini knew what was coming. The girl was going to focus on the 2nd portion of the rules. Boomeranging her pencil so fast that Rini couldn't even see the initial throw, only the path of the pencil. Rini didn't really care, her test was safe in her bra, behind her shirt, and under a hoodie. Maybe it would get damp, but not ruined. She could fill it out later. She was just mostly mad that she'd get wet. The girl really needed to work on installing an umbrella into her wheelchair.
Rini began to roll her chair over to the door, a scowl on her face as the water was starting to soak her annoyingly. It was a good thing her hoodie was incredibly thick, because she liked to stay warm and comfy, it took a lot of water to drench through it, but still, her wheelchair was soaked, her shoes were wet, her hair was drenched, and she was sitting in a growing puddle of water. Rini hated that. Her glasses were blocked by the water drops, and she couldn't see very well.
As water poured down, Chigetsu claimed the genjutsu breaking was her, and that she would have broken the seal, that much was true. But it seemed to her that Chigetsu's way of doing things wasn't quite.... deft. Shooting a seal, setting off a wide spray of water, there was a lack of subtlety to Chigetsu that lent Rini to believe she was a block headed girl who didn't think before she acted.
Sliding the door open, Rini grabbed the doorframe and pulled herself and the chair through outside, closing the door behind her, and rolled toward the wall, water dripping down her body and chair as it emptied out of the seat back. Pulling out a pencil, Rini sucked the water off the tip to get the water off the graphite, and pulled out her test, using the wall as a desk. Having memorized the answers, not that she even
needed to in the first place, she filled it out fast, and then crumpled the test back up and shoved it back into her bra, but attached chakra strings to it while she did so, just in case.
Taking off her jacket, Rini tossed it on the ground, seriously pissed with how wet it was. Now she was getting cold. She reopened the door, and pulled herself back into the room, grumbling, as the sprinkler had turned off at this point. Rolling down the aisles to get to Chigetsu, Rini attempted to run into her. "
Hey." Rini rolled back and rolled forward again to bump into Chi. "
You got me wet. Carry me down the stairs when we leave." The ginger glared up at Chigetsu defiantly, sticking out her tongue somewhat immaturely.
Her expression softened though, as she shifted. "
Don't even bother turning it in. Rules were complete the 10 questions. You did that at least. Me too." She reached into her bra and pulled out the test a final time and opened it up, flashing it at the proctor, showing the filled out test with her name at the top of it. Then she crumpled it back up and tossed it to Hua Li, reaching around Chigetsu to do so, chakra strings ready to shift it in case Chi tried to grab it out of the air. "
Filling out the test isn't that important though. It's part of it, but you gotta prove yourself as well. Information gathering's more important. As long as you know it, you can write it whenever, so retention's pretty important, and destroying other people's information's also important. Turns out you're not just a pretty face. I misjudged you, Pink."
Rini turned her attention to the proctor. "
You're Hua Li, aren't you? I know most of the Jounin from Kumo by name and accomplishments. Please pass Chigetsu. I think she'll really shine later on, given the opportunity. Girl's wicked fast, I didn't even see her throw the pencil. It'll be so much better for me when I take her down in the combat portions." After that, Rini began to wring her hair out, most of the water just running down her shirt and onto her shorts and legs. It was pointless, but Rini just wanted to be dry. "
Dry me off please..." she muttered. She was going to be drenched for ages. "
Or get me a change of clothes? I'm not from here..."
Chigetsu probably lived closer to here than where Rini and the Kumo-nin were all staying. She was taller than Rini, but clothes fit fine if they were too big, just not if they were too small, and Rini wore baggy clothes often enough. They were comfier.
