Polishing a Dirty Jewel [Private] Empty Polishing a Dirty Jewel [Private]

Post by Satori Ryuutei Thu Apr 11, 2019 12:13 pm

It had been a few weeks since Satori had begun properly nourishing Tin, and egging him on with training and workouts. Showing him basic skills like gathering food from the forest, how to locate water and clean it properly to remove the risk of sickness. Even the basics of hunting and tracking, though those skills would take a bit more time for him to really master, they were refresher courses on the basics the Academy already taught him.

Progressing his physical body, Satori also began making sure that he read books. It didn't matter what, really. Even if it was fantasy or fiction, Satori was just determined to ensure Tin read. Scrolls on techniques, on different forms of chakra control, war tactics, stealth and scouting, politics, or just fantasy stories. As long as he was working his brain as much as he was working his body, Satori was happy with it.

Tin didn't have to become a genius. But brushing back up on lost knowledge, and understanding what he was properly was important. Education was key for combat.

After time had passed, Tin was what Satori would now call an 'Average Genin' in his eyes. His body was no longer weak and decrepit, nor was it overly athletic and strong. His mind wasn't sharp and educated, but it was no longer slow and distance from lack of nutrition and focus on nothing but survival.

Had he magically changed him from a beggar in a little less than two months? No way in hell.

But--he had made some improvements, and he was a functional human now. He could move, run, jump, and had decent stamina. He was at the starting line, and from there Satori could work with him and improve him even further. That was the goal, now. Basic combat training was required.

So he had brought him to the training grounds. Now the large young man was standing in the center of one of the combat rings, waiting patiently for Tin to approach. He'd fallen behind a bit due to all the people. He was used to stares as a beggar, but since he was clean, trimmed, and in decent clothing now--no one was paying him a second look, nor any looks of pity or disgust.

It was probably very new to him. So he was letting him be, for now. Let him come in at his own pace.

It was a few weeks of training him up from being an urchin on the streets. Despite his reservations, it seemed as though he was actually feeling a little better. He’d not known hunger in a fair while, he’d almost forgotten how it felt. He’d learnt how to track in the forest, locate the essentials and so forth. Even if they kicked him out now, he’d still be better off than he was a while ago. And he’d do a lot better, as he’d be able to poach.

He had crawled from physical weakness to that of mediocrity. He wasn’t particularly strong, but he was average. That was good, average was good. He didn’t need to be particularly strong, he’d chosen what he wanted to do. He was what people called an “Archer”, or he was going to be. He didn’t need to be a front liner, he just had to be strong enough to pull a string, and fast enough to run away should people get too close to him. On the other side, he needed to strengthen his accuracy and his eyes.

What he found particularly annoying however was Satori’s insistence on him reading. He didn’t really care for it. He thought it was boring. He practically trudged his way through the books he was forced to read. He mostly kept to what he needed to know, he didn’t really want to force himself to read something that wasn’t important. He practically yawned his way through that. Reading simply wasn’t for him.

Eventually he was brought to the training grounds. Satori stood at the centre of the combat rings. He stared at it. So this was the day he died. He had to fight the giant now. He let out a sigh, and walked forth into the circle. The clothing he wore was somewhat comfortable and clean, he was getting used to it. And no one really cared about what it looked like. It seemed as though he was doing it wrong before, he needed to be so mediocre no one gave him a second look.

He stared at Satori. Wasn’t he going to start? Was he supposed to start? What was he supposed to do here? He waited for a while, then sighed. He walked in a slow, careful manner. He was not a little afraid of having his head popped by a fist, or getting his spine broken by a knee. Finally, after working up the courage, he moved forward.

Swinging his right foot back until it made a ninety-degree angle behind him, or round about that, he swung it toward Satori’s shin, ready to bounce back, should he be able to, if Satori decides to retaliate.

Satori watched Tin patiently, idly biding his time as he kept his relaxed position. Standing and watching him while he carefully paced a circle around him, until suddenly going on the offensive. Swinging his leg in a snapping kick aimed at Satori's own leg, an interesting first attack. It was clear his inexperience was playing a part there, that was fine. If he was going to help Tin actually progress himself properly he had to see how he was going to fight.

There was also no better teacher than pain, and as Tin's leg snapped out and collided with Satori's own, the large man didn't budge. The crack of bone on bone sounded, except one of them was much more durable than the other. Satori made no comment, the light throbbing in his leg was minimal at best.

"Sweeping the legs out from under an opponent is an excellent strategy. But not when they're physically stronger than you, in that case you need to use momentum and their own weight to counter properly. Keep coming. Try to get me to move, that'll be your first goal." With this simple statement, Satori remained where he was standing, taking a slow breath and separating his arms in a basic defensive stance.

He was curious just how far Tin could go now. How much his stamina could support him--as well as how far his new body could force Satori.

“Hngh!” Tin’s left eye winced shut, while his other one went wide. He felt as though he kicked an iron bar or something. He didn’t collide his shin, that would’ve been a bad idea, but his upper foot still throbbed from the collision. This wasn’t going to be easy, not by any sense of the word. He huffed, grumbling a few curses to make the pain go away.

It didn’t. But it helped to vent. He stopped to think. Satori was speaking. Well, he had to move Satori. He didn’t give any indication as to how to get him to move. The absolutely evil thing to do would be to leave the circle and set fire to one of the buildings, but that was just a bad thought brought from the pain in his leg.

“Hmpf.” he grumbled. He didn’t need to think too much on how to do it. He remembered a brawl between two fighters, and how it began. As Satori moved into his basic stance, Tin aimed to move around him, should Satori not move, he’d use his left leg, to give his other one a break. He shot it forward, aiming to kick the back of Satori’s knee to chickenleg him. He didn’t so much kick, as put his weight into a half-hearted dropkick, only rising his right foot a little to get him off the ground.

Satori remained where he was, watching as Tin favored his foot for several moments until he began to circle him instead. That was one issue solved. He wasn't an idiot charging in from the front, at least. Glancing to the side as he circled him, Satori waited patiently, his body remaining facing the opposite direction. It was at this point the smaller teen launched himself at Satori, and in return, Satori flexed his body and spun. Not moving from the spot he'd been in, but flexible snapping his hand back and grasping Tin by the ankle.

The long arms and massive hands coming in handy--before Satori would casually yank him by the leg and toss him into the sand. It wouldn't hurt, but it'd probably ruffle his feathers well enough. The movement also placed his upper body back into it's normal position as his crimson eyes watched him, patient and curious as ever.

Without a word, Satori's gaze narrowed on Tin with a bemused noise deep in his throat.

"Much better. Again. Let's see how creative you can get," he stated simply, a slight smile forming on his lips. This was nothing compared to the training he'd gone through--and still went through--with his father. But it was as good a starting line as any to encourage strategy and Taijutsu.

Tin gasped as Satori spun around quickly, grabbing his ankle. By reflex he tried to pull it back, but he had large hands. He fell onto the ground with a groan as his back hit the floor. So he was going to fight back after all. That’s annoying, but Tin didn’t know what he was expecting. He glanced at the ground. It was made of sand. He hated sand. He didn’t need to explain why; everyone knew why one would hate sand.

He gripped the floor as he got back up, using the movement to hide some sand in his clenched fist as he glowered at Satori and moved back a little. Now his other foot hurt too. So he was going to fight back. He may as well use the environment to his advantage. He moved into a more hunched position, before lurching toward Satori. He moved to punch abdomen, however he purposefully cut it short. He redirected his fist to move toward Satori’s face.

Of course, that was also a feint. He opened his fist, and out came the sand. He stopped his punch within a foot or so of Satori’s face, as he counted on him waiting until the last moment to stop him, but the sand continued. THEN he moved to his real, true target.

He spun his upper body around, re-adjusted his arm, and aimed to send an elbow toward Satori’s family jewels. This was, of course, assuming every step of his hastily constructed plan was a success.

Satori was not an idiot, and his senses were sharp. Watching patiently as the teen grasped the dirt to get up, he made a mental note of the possibility quietly to himself. If he'd done it, it was a good plan. Though it wasn't enough to guarantee a victory by any means, now he was evolving his strategies one step further. Using the environment as well as underhanded tactics to achieve his goal.

As Tin dashed at him, aiming to suddenly slam into his body, it didn't even cause a flinch. Satori, waiting to the last minute to defend, instead grabbed him by the hand that was aimed at him, and caught the fist that was aiming to jump up and collide with his face. It was also the hand that had dug into the sand earlier. Satori's face remained casual as catching the fist threw off the next attack, and as the elbow came, he used his grip on Tin's own fist.

Yanking his arm down so his elbow was stopped by the sudden shift in torso angle, and his own opposite arm. Wrapping the arm around his torso and tugging it upward to send Tin spinning away. Using the sand below's loose, terrible footing to his advantage combined with the momentum of the spin and launch. Afterward, Satori straightened once more and smiled.

"Much better. Your stature is small, and you're weak. So use that weakness and abuse everything arrogant strong opponents give you," he stated this simply, not informing him, but agreeing with his tactics. Satori fought dirty himself. He may be large by normal human standards--but for a Ryuutei, he'd always been small. He knew what it was like, being the runt fighting a giant.

Tin felt a certain amount of frustration as his fist was grabbed. If this was an actual, real streetfight, he’d have been beaten half to death by now, this guy was simply too strong for him to deal with, that’s why he didn’t want to end up in fist to fist combat at all. It was just too much of a disadvantage even with a REGULAR person.

He felt his arm get yanked, stopping his attack, and had his arm wrapped around his torso. He was spun about and sent away. He let out a curse as he found himself almost falling to the ground. However, he gripped his fist, threw pride to the wind and gave a heavy counter-weight punch into the air to righten himself. He was on his very tippy toes to keep himself up, then found balance. He was facing away from Satori.

He spun around, before stumbling a little. His vision was all weird, he was dizzy. He let out a huff through his nose, glaring at the man. He was getting annoyed. He ran toward Satori, then pushed himself to the right, aiming to skirt around him again. He tried to give him a quick punch to the left hip, and bounced backward at the very first sign of trouble. Then he’d continue to try and circle around him, using hit-and-run tactics, while fleeing the moment Satori moved to retaliate. He was getting used to his speed now, even if he couldn’t match it.

Satori smiled as Tin began to get angry, but didn't lose control of himself. Even pridefully righting himself (in an odd but workable way) just so he didn't fall again. Not a few weeks ago Tin had stared at him for commenting on his hair and his own pride, and now here he was, starting to obtain a bit of his own. It was fantastic progress even if the teen himself didn't realize it. Clenching his hands a few times he brushed the bit of sand he'd gained on his palms off before focusing on him and offering a slight grin as he dashed at him.

Now he was doing better. Hit and run tactics. Underhanded strategies hadn't worked, so he'd try to wear him down. An excellent fallback strategy and Satori played along with it. Catching fists, parrying elbows and wrists to the side, and delaying each attack as Tin circled him like a coyote desperately trying to bring down a cow. Finally, after nearly an hour, Satori had begun to notice it. A slight shift in his speed whenever his hand reached out to grab him. It was only for a split second, but the burst was quite impressive and clearly chakra oriented.

After several incidents of this happening, he examined Tin and how out of breath he seemed and smiled.

"That's enough for now. Well done, Tin," he stated simply before drawing his hand up and tugging at the strap of his backpack. Pulling it off and setting it down next to his foot, crouching down as he motioned him to come over. Offering him a water bottle and snack of jerky and berries for a reward, as well as a signal for break.

He didn’t know how long he tried to move Satori. It was like trying to move a rock, now he was just trying to outlast it. Which, of course, was impossible. He was moving around, and it wasn’t like the rock was going anywhere. His annoyance sustained him for the first twenty minutes or so, but after a while he began to get tired. His determination carried him through the next twenty minutes. Then his stubbornness through the last twenty or so. He couldn’t really tell that time, he was just trying to move Satori.

He was thoroughly exhausted by the end of it.

Huffing and puffing, he stopped as Satori halted the exercise. He was drenched in sweat from the exertion. It wasn’t like the core training, he was moving all of his body. He paused for a moment, then walked over. He frowned at the water bottle, but accepted it, carefully drinking its nectar and accepted some jerky, albeit reluctantly. He munched on it idly as he looked around. “…Is that all for today, or…?” he asked. It wasn’t like he enjoyed it or anything, he just wanted to know whether he could go back to his spot to get some rest.

Truth be told, he did feel some times when he moved a bit faster than he should have, even with the recent changes to his body, he definitely felt stronger and faster, with more energy. He lasted a fair while, though he doubted he could match up to most ninja. He still felt frustrated over not being able to get a hit in, he didn’t really feel as though he earned the jerky, even though the regular roasted meat tasted better. The berries were nice, though.

Satori smiled lightly as he inquired if they were done for today and shook his head once.

"Taijutsu, yes. You have two other forms of combat to go over though. Once you have the basics down, we'll look into getting you a bow and arrow so you can work on what you enjoy, but you need a solid foundation first," with this he would wait patiently while he ate and drank. Giving him a bit of time to regain his breath and even himself out, before Satori would dust off his pants and straighten.

"I'm going to show you the old techniques that they taught you in the Academy, and I want you to do them again for me. We'll practice each one until you have a solid grip on each one's usage, once you do that we'll be done for the day," as he explained this, Satori then tilted his head and eyed him. He expected some sass, but that was fine, Tin rarely actually complained. Just grumbled alot.

"We'll start with what you remmember. What can you recall from the originals? Names, handseals, usage, and so forth."

Tin suppressed a groan of annoyance. Satori said he’d get him a bow what, a few months ago? And he still had to go through the slog before he was ‘ready’ for it. The basics. Right. He continued to eat, the jerky was a little hard to chew, but he guessed it was good for long distances, unlike pork. He once ate bad pork, never again.

He stared at Satori as he said what they were going to do next. The techniques, the wastes-of-times for a street urchin like him. Well, he guessed he may as well try them, but that didn’t mean he had to like it. “Fine, but it just feels like silly trickery to me.” he grumbled.

He thought for a moment. “We knew the… Clone-ish one, where you make another you, but they were like ghosts, and they disappeared after being touched. Clone technique. And the other one was like that, but instead you got an object or something and turned that into you. Body placing technique. Replacing.” he said. “I think those two were it.”

Then he dug real hard into what the hand signs were. He remembered the replacement one requiring none, so it was the easier one. “Uuh… Tiger… Ram… Snake?” he said. “Maybe not in that order.” he rubbed his nose, sniffing.

Satori gave a low hum, before he would idly lift himself up and straighten. The fact he clearly didn't think much of the techniques aside, that would be fixed as his stamina grew and he realized how much of a boon using chakra could be. For now, it was one step at a time. Thus he focused on the lesson at hand first. Nodding as he gave some basic information--though it was lacking detail tremendously, Satori began.

"Let's start with clone, then," he stated simply, before lifting his hands up and slowly forming each seal. As he formed them, he vocalized them in the same order.

"Ram, Snake and Tiger," he clarified. Before his hands would turn to a blur ending on the tiger seal, immediately forming two clones to stand beside him. Crossing his arms afterward he gave the basic explanation of the technique, his tone as calm as always. Just like a teacher helping a student understand a new tactic.

"You perform it by channeling your chakra into your body and cloaking your skin, before outputting it in a burst as you finish the seals. The chakra reflects the light and follows the imprint your body and mind left on it, creating an optical illusion. They don't cast shadows, and can't interact with things, but they're excellent for last-minute distractions to create openings for both offense and defense. You also need to understand and master this principal before you can move on to master the solid clones instead." With this, he ended the technique as the two clones dissipated.

He smiled lightly. "Go ahead and try. Practice the seals first, shake off the rust and make sure you have them down first."

He watched as Satori lifted himself up, pushing some of his excess hair out of his free eye. He still preferred pushing hair in front of the other one. He didn’t’ really know why he was just used to it. Satori said he was starting with the clone one, unless the clone actually did anything other than poof away after a single hit, he didn’t think it was worth much.

Satori began to do the seals, he remembered them as such, so to him it didn’t just look like he was making weird gestures. Tin paused for a moment before he began to practice himself. “Ram…” he made the seal of the ram. “Snake…” he did such. “And Tiger.” he said, finishing the last seal. He practised them again and again, without putting much effort into actually forming his chakra. He didn’t want to actually do it yet, he was just trying to remember the seals.

“Okay.” he said to Satori after he finished his explanation. He practised the seals a bit more, then closed his eyes and focused. He tried channelling his chakra. It was weird. He took a minute to try and grab hold of it, before just ushering it over his body. He focused hard on what it was supposed to look like, just him. He took a deep breath, before doing the seals.

“Ram… Snake, tiger.” he muttered, before trying to push it out, setting it into a burst. He opened his eyes, looking around. He glanced to the left. It was him, but it wasn’t him. He glared at it. It glared back. They glowered at each other for a few moments, then he slapped it, causing it to waver and poof. "I guess I remember how to do it now." he grumbled.

Satori chuckled dryly as the smack caused it to begin disintegrating.

"If you use it correctly, it can be quite useful. It won't disperse after you hit it, unless you allow it to do so. So you can keep them forming and continue switching places with them in combat. Against higher level opponents its little more than an annoyance, but it takes almost no chakra so sometimes it's worth it." With this, he would then tilt his head slightly to the side.

"You guess isn't good enough. Again, and this time maintain it and try to move and control it a bit." Satori stated with a slight smile, before idly scooping up a rock and bouncing it up and down in his palm.

"I'll try to disperse it as well, so keep your focus. This is good for building mental strength as well for future techniques. The strain of using something like this is nothing compared to higher ranking techniques; even a D-rank is quite a bit harder on your chakra reserves and mental fatigue. You need to get used to it," this was true even more so if he was going to be doing it in the middle of combat. Considering he wasn't a front liner, anything he could do to distraction an opponent was important.

He turned back to Satori as he spoke. He guessed there was some useful application to it, if he had food and energy to spare. But for someone like he was, it was just a waste of effort, when he could climb up a building or the like, especially if people know what they’re looking for. He didn’t really want it to keep staring at him, so really smacking it was a physical tell of him banishing the thing.

He grunted back at Satori, rolling his eyes and sighing. “Fine.” he moved his hands together, then frowned as Satori picked up a rock. He didn’t want things thrown at him, but it seemed as though he was going to use it on his clone. He moved his hands. Ram. Snake. Tiger. He was getting a little faster at this now.

He had let his chakra cover his body, then released it into a burst after concentrating on the technique, allowing his clone to cross its arms and glare at Satori, while next to its original. “There. It’s up.” He said, while holding the pose. Apparently he wanted to disperse it, and he’d have to keep it up, so he concentrated on doing so. He didn’t want to flare or ebb his chakra, so he just focused on keeping it level.

Satori eyed the clone as it manifested, measuring it carefully against him before he grunted and nodded once. Satisfied it was correct, the seals were faster this time around too. Bouncing the stone in his palm a few times, he gave Tin a moment to gather his thoughts and focus. Then hurled the stone through the clone aiming to disperse it, he repeated this, starting with a single stone and eventually working his way up to outright throwing a wave of pebbles through it.

Progressively making it more difficult, until the clone remained where it was despite the disruptions, grunting once, Satori nodded in acceptance. It would need more work to just use it on memory alone, but it would do for now at least.

"Well done, alright. We'll move on to the other one you remembered now. Substitution. This technique has no hand seals, and it's purely done through chakra control--it makes it more difficult as you have to mold the chakra entirely on your own without the seals there to help maintain and focus the energy. Do you remember how it works?" Despite however Tin may remember it, if it wasn't completely accurate he still fully intended to clarify the techniques details entirely.

By comparison, Substitution was a technique that had uses all the way up to the highest levels of combat. It just had its tactics and usage switched up the higher up the ladder you went.

Tin frowned as he waited for Satori to throw the rock. At least it gave him enough time to gather some thoughts, and get ready for the barrage that was likely to come. He felt somewhat more confident about his clones. Then the first stone came through. He winced a little as he felt his chakra get disrupted a little. As though a part of it got pierced, and the rest had to rush over to fill the gap. He wrinkled his nose, and carefully laid it out with more chakra without breaking its entirety.

More and more stones made their way through his clone. It was getting rather annoying now. His clone was constantly being wavered, and he felt his chakra dwindling a little because of it. It was getting rather annoying having to patch himself up again and again, it was probably better to just disperse it and cut his losses after the first couple of attacks.

Finally, however, Satori ceased. He dispersed the clone, and let out a huff. Now they were to learn the substitution one. He frowned, trying to remember. “I think so. You do the same like the clone, but put it onto a thing instead. Like a tree trunk or a bunch of trash. I think.” he said, scratching his head. That one felt a little more useful, but it was also harder, he remembered from the Academy

Satori nodded once as Tin explained what he knew of the technique, it wasn't much but he understood the basic concept if nothing else. Lifting a hand, he motioned for Tin to come closer calmly.

"Try to hit me again," he explained simply, and then waited. Once the blow came, Satori would wince once--before bursting into smoke and the sensation of Tin's foot kicking one of the nearby training dummies hit him instead of striking a body. Satori appearing in replacement with the dummy as he tilted his head.

"You use chakra to tether with the object, and it needs to be at least half of your mass to perform it properly. Then, just like with the clone you cloak it in your image. Closer to the transformation technique, than the clone technique. Once that's done you then use your chakra to burst yourself in speed, and drag the object toward you. If you time it correctly, usually between the blinks of your opponent, you can make it seem as though you 'teleported', but that's not how it actually works. Space-time techniques are far, far higher up on the pecking order." He chuckled softly, before placing his hands behind his back and nodding toward the dummy.

"Go ahead and try. Take your time, but keep doing it until you can comfortably replace yourself with it fast enough to counter someone around your level. If you get tired from chakra loss just say and rest for a bit."

Tin cautiously moved closer, frowning a little.

Then he frowned a little deeper at his request. It sounded like a trap. It probably was one. Then again, he might just want to show him how the substitution worked. He looked at satori, then sighed. He drew back his fist, and went with a relatively simple punch. It was rather cautious, he didn’t want to put his entire weight into it in case satori had decided to switch with something rather hard.

Instead, it was relatively benign. He had switched with a training dummy instead. Tin blinked, then looked down at his fist. He had poofed into smoke, and the dummy was there instead. Interesting.

So, he had to ‘tether’ his chakra to an object, with it being at least half his mass. He doubted he’d have much trouble finding something that weighed more than half of him. Maybe the training dummy. He didn’t know how heavy things were with a glance. He took a breath, then went ahead to try it himself.

He focused inward, taking his chakra and looked around for an object. He didn’t really know what to try, so he just used the dummy and hoped it weighted less than him. He tried to latch his chakra onto the object, taking a moment to see if it was well and truly connected, then burst his chakra, trying to drag it toward him.

It was somewhat heavy, but he could manage it. He then took a moment to regain his thoughts, then pulled it toward him. He burst his chakra, more moving it around his body to give him an amount of speed, then burst his chakra that was tethered to the dummy, changing it into him. He then looked back to see if he had done it properly.

Satori watched carefully. This was a more advanced technique, and he wanted to make sure that Tin had this one down properly. It was going to be his saving grace throughout combat with his weaker constitution. As Tin began, he examined the tug of the dummy and remained quiet. He didn't wish to interrupt him or throw him off. An amused smile formed on his lips at the first tug, and then the switch.

It was slow, but he still managed it. Causing a low chuckle of amusement as he nodded his head once in approval.

"Well done," he stated simply, before motioning for him to continue. One slow usage of it did not a memorization make, after all. As time would tick away, and the practice continued, Satori remained where he was. Waiting patiently as each usage put him a bit closer to controlling it. That much faster at the chakra control. When he finally began to sweat from chakra excursion, Satori held a hand up to call a pause to the training.

There was no point in him driving himself to the point of weakness over it. A basic grasp on it with some memorization was enough.

"Rest for a bit, and then we'll move on to the simpler techniques," he stated simply, clearly in no rush even if Tin had been earlier. These were important lessons afterall, as from here on many techniques built off their concepts.

Satori appeared to approve in his application, though he doubted he’d let him get away with just a single go. So he sighed, and prepared to do it again. This may end up being annoying, but he guessed he could see how it might help. He wasn’t going to just slap it away anymore. He’d figured a while ago that he may as well just go with it, since he was going to be persuaded into doing it anyway. And thus with a slight roll of his eyes, he began again.

And so the time ticked by. Chakra was rather exhaustive to do continuously. Tether. Change. Speed. Tether. Change. Speed. Tether Change Speed. Tetherchangespeed. He tried going faster and faster, but sometimes that just caused him to trip up, at one point he hit his head against the dummy because e tried going faster. He stopped trying to do so after that. He’d have to practice a bit more if he wanted to do it much faster.

As he began to sweat from the control, Satori halted the training. He was now tired in both the physical and chakra sense now. Just a bone weariness to him. He wasn’t really fond of it. On the other hand, if he did it now, he’d be less affected later on. Oh well, it was in a controlled environment. He decided to just lie down on the sand to take a breather and a nap. The big guy wasn’t usually in any rush, and he couldn’t be bothered to move back to his rug.

Satori let Tin rest. It was that simple, really.

Settling back he began his own training while he waited, settling into a stance before forming the shadow clone technique. The fight against himself then began as both the clone and himself, went at once another with basic taijutsu. Cracks of claw on claw and bone on bone filled the air as the man's eyes narrowed on himself from both angles.

After several hours, he heard Tin yawn and glanced back at him before releasing the clone. The burst dispersed it into smoke, and Satori rubbed at the back of his neck. Content with the progress he'd made while Tin was out cold as he would offer the teen a water bottle to help wake him up. A few moments after, once the water had settled he clapped his hands together firmly and straightened once more.

"Now we'll focus on surface and water walking," he stated simply. Clasping his hands behind his back as his brow arched slightly in curiosity. At this point, Tin knew what he was going to ask, and so he waited to see what he remembered of the techniques in question so he knew what holes to fill in. Thankfully, beyond chakra channeling, they weren't too difficult to deal with.

Tin sighed, letting the misty day wash over him as he heard Satori did some fighting practice. He peeked with one eye open and saw that he had made a clone and was fighting it. It looked physical. Real. He guessed that was something for later, since he was just practicing the regular clone, and left it for now. He wondered whether he could substitute water and make them clones like that. It sounded interesting. Maybe they’d actually be able to fight, since it’s malleable. It had promise. He just needed to experiment a bit more. Maybe he could think of other things and make illusions of those too, or even put an illusion over himself to make him look different. Interesting.

He let himself fall asleep to the sound of Satori beating himself up.

Then he awoke a while later, he wasn’t sure how long. He let out a yawn, rubbing his eyes. He usually didn’t like sleeping all out in the open, but he was too tired to care. He still felt a little weary, but not as bad as when he started falling asleep. He grumbled to himself and clambered up to his feet. His entire body was achey. He took the water bottle and drank from it, then tossing it back.

He rose an eyebrow (his hidden one) at the next lesson he was learning. Surface and water walking. What was the surface one? On walls? That would be a bit more useful. He huffed, trying to remember what you were actually supposed to do. Well, clones were about applying chakra to something, so he guessed it was close to that. “…You form the chakra on your feet, and focus on making it stick?” he asked.

Satori chuckled at the vague response entirely based on the name of the technique. But he left it be and nodded once slightly, walking toward the nearby tree and beginning to walk up it vertically just as casually. Halting about midway up as he turned his head to face Tin idly.

"You form the chakra around the surface of the part of your body touching the surface, and cling to it. You can use it in other applications as well, such as ensuring you aren't disarmed or coating your hands so you can casually climb up a surface and so forth." With this he dropped, landing lightly and straightening as he motioned to the tree for him to begin.

"Try imagining it as either a sticky material helping you cling to it or as barbs that dig into the surface and cling. Either one works, but some prefer a different visualization to help control the chakra flow," with this he crossed his arms over his chest and watched curiously. It wasn't a difficult technique, and unlike the others, the only way to be better at it was long-term practice. There wouldn't be much repeating done for this one.

More than likely they'd move on to water walking quickly enough after this. He'd touch on Kai, and have him practice it a bit and then they'd likely be done for the day.
