In need of a skilled Engineer Empty In need of a skilled Engineer

Post by Kiyogi Uso Sat Aug 10, 2024 5:19 pm

Kiyogi had come to the village to recruit but also for another purpose. There were items he could utilize in theory. Concepts in his mind that he needed those with the proper skills to bring to reality. From theory to practice. With these new concepts made real he would be able to make new moves as he saw fit with less concern. Along with keeping the valuable library the light held under lock and key. He felt that he may need to move it in due time and a simple scroll simply wouldn't do. He had an idea for a combination storage device. One he could set a complicated pattern for and prolong their discovery. Still for the time being that meant actually finding an engineer. His inquiry into the subject had brought him to the stag tower. It's headmaster was famous here in kiri for his skills in the field and the man was known as Gyo. A shortened version of the name he recognized. He had a ninja card on the individual though he hadn't accomplished many notable feats as a shinobi. With others asleep in their coma Gyo had risen to be a stock owner and wealthy individual.

Still Kiyogi would glance up at the tower with dull eyes. The symbol of the Stag on the front of it was a bit of an eye sore but it made the market more. He could see students coming and going from the front door. So it was an educational tower as well as a crafting space. A unique construct. Though the rumors also included that like himself this man had sealed a bijuu just outside the front gates. That showed a level of capability most of these fighters were lacking. Still Kiyogi stood there with a plain expression and dark hair around honey colored eyes. Draped over his person were grey and white robes that hid the snow chakra armor and spectre commander armor over it. His mask, Ocarina, summoning scroll and thunder god sword tucked under the cloak as well. The coin hung from a necklace around his neck and was tucked under his shirt. It felt warm to the touch. Still he ignored it as he was careful to keep how well equipped he was hidden. He was here as a guest after all. Ideally he wouldn't have to use any of it. Still he would move through the crowd to enter the front door.

His dress shoes didn't make a sound as he walked across the lobby floor. The underside modified to be cushioned for stealth along with his practiced light foot stride. He was an assassin and as such certain habits stuck with him. Still he wasn't here for a target. Instead he was here to assess the point value of Kirigakure and obtain some necessary items as well as new recruits. For now he walked up to stand in line at the counter. It would be a few minutes before the students and customers in line were able to get through. His eyes wandered while he waited. Studying the security and entry points around him. Committing every bit to memory until it was his turn. Kiyogi would step up to the counter before his dull eyes snapped to the woman about to address him. Causing her to hesitate in her introduction. Practiced as it was those empty eyes halted her thoughts. Still he would speak in a dull tone in place of the silence.

"I would like to schedule an appointment with the headmaster. I wish to inquire about a specific set of crafts."

The hustle and bustle of Gyo's wide domain was in full swing, wares being vended and all manner of corrupted pleasure on display for any to consume. It was highly unusual for someone to traverse the area with such single-minded intent as this interloper, as most people invariably found something of interest. Whether bauble of risqué show, people found some reason to part with their hard earned coins, items, or secrets. Luckily, the Tranquility Base took nearly any form of payment. However, this honey-eyed man seemed to have some thought, some central intent that brought him through the surrounding area and into the tower, requesting respectfully but bluntly an audience with Gyokusho from a woman working the front desk. His demeanor previously had already tipped off a few people, peaked some curiosities, though no one would recognize him beyond the unusual directness. Nothing bad, but noteworthy. The woman looked up from her work, smiling at him as he spoke but allowing a fleeting look of confusion to flicker across her face.

"Hm... let me check." People did not normally ask for Gyo, and if the woman was honest she would probably say she found him a little... odd. He kept a bizarre schedule even at the best of times, and would fluctuate between lavishly wasting time and studiously producing a treasure trove of items. Now, he was in one of his later moods, so she knew he was physically in, and he had never complained about interruptions before. His calendar was also free, though he never updated it so who know what that mattered. Eventually, she decided to send him up. "Elevator 2, Mr...?" She'd pause for a moment, though would allow him to head up regardless. "Top floor; Gyokusho-san should be in, but he may be in the middle of a project. He's always open to new clients though."

Assuming that Kiyogi would head up, he would swiftly arrive on the top floor, the elevator opening up to a large open space, a few people in robes milling about, a couple eating. The space was less of an office or work space as it was a huge hot spring, despite being many floors above the ground. However, there was a space large enough for perhaps 2 offices but dwarfed by the spectacle of the room in which Gyo sat at a large desk, going back and forth between a variety of ledgers and financial accounts. He did not particularly like doing this, but it was part of his job, and it was no special challenge. Plus, he needed a small break from his recent bout of crafting, pumping out arms and gadgets at pace he had not for some time. Should Kiyogi choose to approach, he would find the dashing blond garbed in what appeared to be some kind of shapeless dress or kimono, utterly bone white, and appearing as if it had been crafted from thousands upon thousands upon thousands upon thousands of spider webs. It you squinted, it could have easily been a robe instead. Regardless of what exactly it was and how strange it may have looked, the massive, draping garb was at the very least of the finest make. Even to an untrained eye or to one with no fashionable tendencies, the sheer quality of what seemed to be pure silk would shine out, visible plainly. It was odd, though in a way more subdued that some of his pieces.

Meanwhile, Seiko, Gyo's personal attendant and de-facto accountant, would meet the man at the elevator, the secretary having paged to alert of a potential customer. He bowed, but otherwise did not speak, simply gesturing for the visitor to head over to the little alcove where Gyo worked. Gyo, enthralled in both the ledgers as well as a few designs he was working on, sat without looking up, each hand working seemingly independently from one another as he made modifications to paperwork with his left and continued to add details to the schematics of a bow with his right.

Kiyogi would wait without moving as the woman would set about checking for him. The only movement was the slow blinks he forced out in a timed manner. Choosing to adjust his unconscious movements consciously. Often people allowed their body to set its own rhythms and this was a false safety. Patterns adjusted the rhythm and rarely in an optimal pattern. He had studied ideal sleep cycle, blink repetition and timing and depth and timing of breathing to keep his body optimal. Adjusting as needed. Outside of that conversation was unnecessary in most cases. When she asked for his name after offering him directions he did not respond except for those honeyed eyes shifting slowly to the elevator intended. It was rude but he offered no thanks as he passed her. Information had been provided but he saw no purpose to exchange further words. The concept of being polite was designed to swell a person's sense of pride and appease them. Gaining things you otherwise wouldn't be able to. As parental figures taught their young, the magic word was please. As it wasn't needed for his goals he would continue to the elevator. Entering it alone and not looking twice to see if anyone else was coming.

His fingers would touch the button for the top floor. As he pressed it a dim but noticeable light would glow to life. Indicating it had caught his command before the door would close and he would feel a shift as he started to rise. His hand returning to his side as he contemplated for the ride. Hyakkiako, Gyokusho. A man in Kirigakure rumored to be a capable crafter and highly intelligent. Perhaps the only person in the country close to Tadara's level of intelligence. For once Kiyogi wouldn't need to fully explain everything. Not that other people were dumb, simply that they did not compare favorably with his own level. Often since arriving he had wondered how effective Genjutsu would be in this nation. Majority of them were close range specialists with hand to hand combat as their focus. His thoughts would trail however as the mechanism would come to a stop and the doors would slide open. A servant would greet him silently only to indicate to him where to go. The wet warm of the room was different than expected but it could be worked with. Besides his eyes settled on the one man to meet the description he was aware of.

Kiyogi would move through the floor with silent steps. There was a technique he wanted from here that eliminated the sound entirely but for Kiyogi as an assassin walking without making noise was part of his trade. He wasn't particularly noticeably slow. Nor did he crouch or adjust his pattern like he was stalking his prey. Instead Kiyogi would move forward almost blending with the crowd. Even as silent as they were he paced his steps with whoever was closest to him. Their gates were different but it was a small easy adjustment as he moved that visibly would be difficult to notice. However his footfalls merely echoed the exact timing of the steps closest to him. Masking them entirely as he saw how close he could get without being noticed at A coordination. Still once he would arrive at the desk Kiyogi would stand motionless. Only his eyes shifting for whatever defenses or guards were hidden nearby. Absorbing all of it without any significant reaction as he waited to be called on. A glance at the numbers on the sheet gave him some details as to the financial standing of the Stag emporium.

Busy with his work and with Tadara moving almost completely silently, Gyo did not take any special note of his arrival for a second or two, continuing to scribble away and move pages and scrolls here and there. The tedium of accounting did not spark any special joy in him, though diagraming out blueprints was only marginally more interesting. But, he'd needed a break from the forge and the labs for at least a few minutes, and the work was not going anywhere without him, so he'd settled in. Eventually, the shadow of the man drew his attention and Gyo's eyes drifted up to appraise the other, unsure who this was. The strange, shifting rainbow of his vision would wash over Kiyogi, taking him in without any sense of reservation, a small, lazy smile on his face. Should the other choose to remain silent, he would draw out the exchange for a few seconds more, an uncomfortably long period of total quiet for most. To one of Kiyogi's intellect, it should be clear he was waiting for the man to speak. Should he not...

Well good morning, um... He'd trail off, allowing the other a moment's introduction should he wish to take it. Gyo did not have any issue breaking the ice, though also had no idea what this man wanted. Most people seeking crafting services just went by his shop, so to find him in the tower could mean something of a political slant. Considering his own crafting prowess, it always amazed and amused him that he did not have more courtiers or supplicants. But, he was in Kiri after all, and the people here were... not known culturally for their intelligence or shrewdness. He shifted some of his papers into a stack, clearing space before him as the various pieces of work were sorted neatly into their separate locations. I assume you've come to see me? If so, please, take a seat, he gestured to one of the two, comfortable looking chairs before his desk, if not, the hotspring is open and you're free to help yourself. Towels are available in that closet along the far wall, as are lockers for any personal belongings. No fee or anything required.

The man seemed somewhat odd, if for no other reason that his apparent commitment to not speaking. Perhaps he was mute? Gyo wondered what could have brought him here and hoped he'd indicate something he wanted.

The man would finally glance up and notice the silent figure before him. Kiyogi at a glance had noted the documents he was working on and had a mental idea of where to go if they needed funding in the future. However with Kumogakure under their control funding hadn't been much of an issue. Even now the budget he had for this project was extraordinary. Still he would speak his name as he was bidden to. "Kiyogi Uso." Was a simple if not dull response. He had little understanding of social ques and interactions as he had little need to socialize. It had built his value with the group he was a part of now of course. But even then they valued him not as a person but as a strategist and a surgeon. Even a seal expert when the need arose. Still he would glance at the chair before him and then back to Gyo with hesitation. He had no need for shared baths. Even if the heat of them killed most bacteria the combination of germs shared by anyone willing to climb into those pools was enough that it should cause some health issues. His own cleaning methods were far more in depth.

"If possible I wish to hire you for a couple of engineering projects. However I prefer my dealings to be done privately. This venue is too open for my delicate needs."

If Gyo would acquiesce his request and they would move to a more private office he would take a seat then. His form rigid as he sat up straight. No slouching as that was bad for the spine and breathing. He would quietly reach into his cloak and produce two seperate scrolls. Unwrapping them each from a tight cord around the center and unraveling them. A soft pinpoint of chakra on the paper would flatten it instead of the curve the usual unrolled scroll had. Precise control of his chakra to adjust paper was childsplay for him and he thought nothing of it. However on each paper was a loose but well drawn design for two items. The first was a small engine that turned liquids to gas over a large area. The second was more unique as it seemed to be a puzzle box with a seal formula next to it. One that could be set to any number of combinations and prevented the seal from being accessed unless it was unlocked. He would continue to speak without expression or tone.

"I request two things of you. First is a simple matter of delivery for inoculations. I am responsible for a hidden village and healthcare can be delivered efficiently this way. The second is more for personal use. The average vault isn't as secure as I would like. I desire a massive storage space that can be transported on my person and far more difficult to access. If possible I would enjoy some sort of defensive enchantment on it as well. I can pay you in ryo or trade."

Certainly this Kiyogi seemed quite strange, but not entirely unpleasant. Plus, the idea that he required a level of privacy peaked the blonde's interest quite a bit. It gave the same kind of conspiratorial vibes as Ren had, even if neither in fact held any kind of conspiracy. And, of course, no one knew he knew it was Ren. A pleasure, Kiyogi-san. And of course, please come this way. The palatial crafting school held many rooms of a private nature for meetings with groups both large and small. Pulling the man into one was nothing at all, and Gyo quickly gestured to another comfortable chair as he delicately poured two glasses of fresh sake, as well as some plane spring water for the two of them. Kiyogi should feel no special need to partake, but Gyo did know how to host and despite the man's stiffness he would not allow his manners to subside.

When the other unfurled the two scrolls, Gyo allowed for his rainbow eyes to hungrily scan through the impeccably depictions. Very intriguing. It's a rare mind in this world of ours that appreciates the utility of engineering, to be entirely frank. Gyokusho meant that statement quite seriously, regardless of his normally flippant behavior. Ninja seemed obsessed with having 1 tool to do all jobs, which had always struck him as patently absurd. Though even in his current ruminations, another, unrelated concept flashed into his mind. Inoculations you say... I take it you are not a Kiri native, similar to myself. Pray tell, from whence do you hail? Gyo asked the question obviously to gather information on who this man might be, but also to pass the conversation pleasantly as he continued to mentally translate the designs into physical objects. Modify that small piece there, alter a measurement or two here. His eyes swirled and sharpened at the idea of "trade." Aha.

Yes, I think I understand. This first mechanism bears a resemblance to some projects I have previously engaged in. For a village though it would need to be quite large. Not an issue, but you'd need to do some instillation once you return. This other.... he reached the the scroll with the puzzle box on it, a kind of child's toy turned to something marvelous. He flowed a spike of chakra through him, mostly to his brain. Should Kiyogi prove a sensor he would notice, though the action held no malice nor any real force behind it. Ingenious, really, if I'm understanding correctly. It, hm. He paused for a brief second. It probably won't really be able to to store every treasure and coin of ryo as a traditional vault, but internal space should prove no issue. Fascinating concept I must say. For a defensive enchantment, I assume you mean to deter would be theft, correct? It was possible the man meant something else entirely by defense, such as hiding it more effectively of something of the sort.

Using Wandlekoning to get S rank Int for the blueprints. B rank if I recall of the top of my head.

Kiyogi would find the seat and settle in with his back straight for the ideal posture. His eyes scanned the room the entered briefly but otherwise he did not commentate on it. He did not appear nervous or anxious. If anything he may as well have been reading the stock trades in the daily paper. Still he wouldn't reveal his intentions so easily. Innoculations was a viable reason for wanting to spread a large amount of gas from a liquid. One most people with ethical concerns would understand over a desire to spread a poison he was designing. After all Chen and Raijin had inquired on if he could make a drug to instill rage and reduce logic. His test subjects so far had torn each other apart so he was working on methods to get them to ignore each other and focus entirely on those not infected. If he could perfect that then he could make it contagious through contact with bodily fluids. Effectively making what fiction referred to as zombies without the dying part. A village susceptible to their own citizens attacking would fall to such a ploy or be forced to murder their own. He had no qualms with utilizing the innocent as pawns.

Still the young inventor seemed to share his interest in engineering and could do as he asked. Some installation would be required but without the need for chakra...he could utilize such a device without detection fairly easily. All these shinobi focused on their chakra sensory and expected all their attacks to be traditional in nature. Utilizing a warehouse or basement would do just fine. Once it finished dispersing over a large area he would be able to seal it back into a scroll and make his way out of the village. With Raijins help he may even be able to teleport. Still he would answer the question of where he was from dismissively.

"A small village hidden in the sound. North of here. It won't take too much to inoculate the area. Ideally if the machine can manage a thousand meter range. As for your question regarding the puzzle vault, I intend to keep it on my person. If the enchantment could be used to defend against ninjutsu should I be attacked that would be helpful. As for payment I can offer something as simple as ryo...or some techniques I have gained in my travels. Taught to me by a traveling retired shinobi. I assure you these techniques while secret are highly valuable. Though I suspect their originating nations did not approve of me learning them so I caution against revealing anything you learn here too openly. "

Were he to claim that none of this seemed fishy, Gyo would be lying even more extravegantly than he normally did. However, his ears perked and his eyes rose at the mention of some special techniques as a means of trade. If he read correctly between the lines, this man proposed the exchange of the "exclusive" techniques the villages guarded with varying degrees of security. Suna, for example, had historically almost no protection, though that had changed recently. Further, while some techniques were undoubtably powerful or useful, many left much to the imagination, and often the unique abilities of the vary powerful outshone many of these. Still.... there were a few he could make use of, to be certain. And so, dubious motivations aside, Gyo figured he could help the man out.

Of course. Inoculation is highly important. Perhaps you could make a medicine to combat this most recent wave of sleeping sickness that seems to be making its rounds. He tossed the other man a wink. Maybe the other could, though Gyo doubted it. He was no doctor in all fairness, but he was a highly proficient chemist who had no thoughts on how to combat the disease. Then again, he had not paid it too much mind. He mumbled, half to himself and half to the client, 1,000 meters, of course. It won't need to be quite as large as I had thought then, but no problem. For a defensive enchantment hm.... a kind of barrier springs to my mind immediately. I've heard there is actually a burgeoning genius of barriers in the village now, though I haven't met him. But if it's a more basic kind of defense I can accommodate. I'll cook something up. He paused briefly to allow Kiyogi to speak, in case he had any further input.

His other hand continued to roam across a paper, doodling through the contraption and working on the barrier. It made sense to him to use the enchantment as a focus for the bearer to conjure a protective dome or wall as required. Judging just off of looks and mannerisms, this other fellow may well struggle with some of the extremely wide ranging techniques that some could use, much like himself. A shield was thus always quite valuable, even as a last resort. A retiring shinobi you say? How fascinating. I imagine their homeland quite upset with them, but it's our gain and their loss I suppose. From whence had this retiree learned of such wonders? He asked not of his homeland - he somewhat suspect this to be made-up - but instead after where he might expect knowledge to come from. Kumo had a few useful techniques Gyo could use, as did Iwa, though he did not know what options may have wandered into his humble shop.

Kiyogi watched the man quietly as he was a practiced salesman. While he was an expert at encouraging a continued conversation these questions were designed to pry. Kiyogi however would show little to no difference in reaction. If nothing else he was relieved to find that his concepts could be made into functional items. However should he utilize it he would likely be burned here in kiri and wherever else this salesman had influence. However he would be eager to test it. Still Gyo had value so he wouldn't try to directly involve him. Even with the line of clever questions he would remain calm as he adjusted Gyo's total point value. In a world with cheap theatrics and people flinging fire before knowledge this was a man to be valued. However there were some things to be considered. How much could he reveal? How much could he keep to himself and still obtain these items? He would listen to the information about a barrier specialist though. An interesting focus. Unique tier individuals deserved some investigation and since he was primarily here to recruit...He would look into those rumors. Barriers would after all cover a certain weakness against large scale ninjutsu.

The questions began again. Praying for more information about the retiree. His silk words trying to pry against the lie. However Kiyogi would remain calm. He had enough information that he would be able to name a retiree from Iwagakure that was famous enough to get away with it all and also could not be easily questioned if he could even be found. He was even wearing a redesigned version of the mans armor.

"He was traveling through the lands under the name Masaru. He was from my understanding very influential and even a Kage at one point. I tended to some light wounds on him and he taught me these in return."

Kiyogi would calmly pull a piece of paper out of his left breast inner pocket. He had come prepared with three jutsu written down and the descriptions on how to activate them. All three were valuable exclusives. The first was the ever desired fission technique from Iwagakure. The in depth description of how to split one's person permanently in half and how to reverse it. The second was a lesser known technique for long range genjutsu communication. Allowing a person to cast their image across great distances and communicate with others and see what they see. And on the topic of sight he included Hiding with Camouflage Technique. A technique to reflect light off of ones self that he used as his primary jutsu for assassinations and was incredibly familiar with.

"He felt that I could use these three. The first was to assist myself with my medical practice while the second was mostly to keep in touch. The last one was in case I ever had to run from someone I could hide. I hope these three jutsu will be of enough value to you for both items."
