This next one was incredibly rudimentary, one that he recalled learning when he was a genin even. Still, it was one he hadn’t practiced since back then either. Simple techniques were sometimes the most useful he found, such as the body flicker technique that could turn any average sprinter into quite the accomplished speedster. Nothing like the true speediest shinobi, they were on another level that wasn’t to be competed with unless that was almost one's sole focus. No, though Tōri was never a fan of putting all of one's eggs in one basket. It was a dangerous proposition that left one open to so many things. His net was cast wide, even wider once he’d met with those summon creatures in the east, eager to set off and expand not just his arsenal but his students' minds. Hiding in the shadows of a tree in the training grounds he saw some people watching at the multitudes of different people that showed up to the training grounds.

Back to rain it was, from the same spot he’d practiced the chain in the forest in Tōri figured it was as good a spot as any to blast through some old techniques he still had yet to go over since his reinvigoration several weeks prior. With three hand seals he summoned the requisite chakra to release multiple bolts of electricity that zapped several nearby trees and startled the critters in the surrounding woods. His face cringing in an apologetic twist he lowered his hands from the last hand seal and decided it would be best for all to return to the target practice dummy area for the remaining jutsu and to leave this ecosystem alone. Enough has been done to disturb it today, he’d have to repay them with some nice new trees on a return trip. He was sure there’d be some little furry or feathery critters that could make nice use of such an addition.

It was time to switch things back into suiton territory, being another element he’d neglected for far too long. He figured he really out to have them all trained for his trip to the sea, especially those potent ones that made use of and even required preexisting water to be used. With a single seal and creating suiton chakra from within himself Tōri's mouth parted to release a stream of bubbles that covered the target dummy in the spray of foam like watery bubbles. Now quite wet and susceptible to raiton techniques as well as slowing down enemies movements this technique made for great supplementary technique to be used in conjunction with others or combination with other shinobi. He needed more techniques that fit this category, realizing he’d have to invent some of his own to fill the glaring holes in the jutsu found in the library and shinobi academy.

This technique was one that he hoped to never need to use, even through assassination. To completely burn up and remove all traces of kekkei genkai really only had two purposes. The primary one being clean up of traitorous shinobi so their bloodlines didn’t fall into enemy hands. The use with assassination could be used to cover up the evidence, though often if a target possessed a kekkei genkai their corpse would be valued over secrecy of the difficult deed. He wondered if this tenuous peace between the active nations would hold, it seemed a fragile thing with the recent kaiju attack. Producing a clone, Tōri practiced the technique with immediate success, watching his own visage burn away before poofing into chakra and returning the reserves used in their splitting up of the chakra. He really needed to get more efficient with his shadow clones, curious if the Hokage knew anything about the multi shadow clone technique. He’d have to inquire in their meeting before heading out. Again he hoped to never make use of this technique, but such was the duty he had signed up for. His needs weren’t those that needed to be put forth. He only hoped to be able to make the journey without too much delay.

Having forgotten the actual last technique on the docket for training he quickly redoubled back to his last spot and whipped through the three required hand signs to enact this technique. Slamming his hand to the ground in another doton-y type of move the Raiton chakra building up within him released into the ground that then shot up from under the ground. It seemed a useful technique against those behind cover, he wouldn't be surprised if it was devised by some curmudgeonly senior officer who was sick and tired of all these dang doton folk blocking his superior lightning techniques. There were times when Tōri's mind wandered a bit aggressively and made up these silly backstoried for random things like a training jutsu, just a little bit of how Tōri works under the hood. Glad to add this useful technique to his arsenal he marveled at the number of technique he had neglected to train as a younger member of the shinobi force, even worse that the amount he had was so neglected for so long being that he hadn’t been to the training grounds this seriously since those early chūnin years.

This next technique was one of great use in missions that required impersonating someone, while fairly specific there was little wiggle room in terms of usefulness compared to this technique. There was a similar technique that mokuton allowed, though in combination with this technique the two would make for a powerful combination in the stealthy and impersonating arts. Forming the seal he began to change himself into that of his student Natsuki, slowly changing his hair color, retracting the beard and then testing out his voice to get it to the right octave. Once achieved he wore him around for a little bit, walking around in his shoes so to speak. It was strange hearing a voice that wasn’t his own so he quickly dispelled it, also not wanting Natsuki to walk up and see a duplicate of himself. Now that this was done it was time for some other rudimentary techniques that he hadn’t practiced himself since he was a genin. He was particularly excited for the after image clones though he’d have to figure out a way to get his speed up enough to get the desired effect. Ending the technique he prepared himself by moulding the requisite chakra required.

No practicing the technique that would allow him to become less noticeable to the untrained eye, allowing for easier access to harder to get areas in many covert missions. Though it wouldn’t be of much help in battle against competent opponents, it could be useful for going undetected and enacting an ambush during an encounter with less keen opponents. They were to be used, particularly when working in concert with other techniques or shinobi. Three hand seals is all it took, then his body began to take on a shimmery version of the wall behind him, now capable of slipping past lower ranked shinobi. Moving about the training grounds within the shadowy bits he did some more people watching, trying to test how close he could get within being noticed. There was one group of genin practicing with a chūnin that he decided to stalk and practice his sneakiness. Prowling from one shadow to the next he then was practically right beside them hidden behind the shade provided by the training dummy they were practicing with. Glad to have nailed the technique he combined the jutsu with his ability to slip through the ground with doton, not wanting to disturb their little training session.

Now finished with his non-elemental jutsu all he had left on his plate was a fair helping of random elemental techniques from all three of his basic elements. Jumping into Raiton with the three requisite hand seals required Tōri's moulded chakra released into the ground around him with a press of his hand to the ground. Raiton energy spread out in a web-like pattern that threatened to zap anything and anyone that came into contact with it. This would be a very powerful technique against weaker opponents or forcing someone into the air to get a better shot at taking them out. A myriad of different scenarios rushed through his head in which this technique could prove useful, eager to get it a test in a spar to try it out in a more friendly environment. All the safer to apply it in real combat against someone who might be trying to take his or others lives.

Now practicing a suiton technique Tōri had been eager to give this one a whirl for a while, he recalled trying it before his chakra system had properly developed in his youth to poor effect. It really helped to motivate him to better himself for those early years, that moment of realization that he was ready for it was one that he would cherish from all that hard work he had put in. Now returning himself to those days he moved through the hand seals and motions to enact the technique that caused the water around him in the water training area of the training grounds to shoot up and form a thousand small watery needles before rushing forwards towards one of the many dummies littered throughout the area for practice. Piercing the poor dummy they didn’t stand a chance as the multitudes of needles peppered its body and shredded it to pieces, quite literally. Left a broken stump of wood and scraps and chunks of its ripped up body all over the place as the water lost its form and innocently puddled beneath the target of its destructive force. Glad to have revisited the technique he prepared himself for the final technique he’d readied for himself.

Next was a move that he had been needing to try out for a long time, one that would allow him to summon forth a great torrent of water that could be of great use against katon techniques or as a medium for additional suiton jutsu. Requiring just one hand seal, Tōri's hands would fly towards one another to form the snake sign before barfing out a truly insane amount of water in a most elegant manner. Waves of water would quickly fill the area he was in, glad he moved to the forested area with a river running through it to test this particular technique at the last moment. Yeah, that had totally happened and you can’t prove otherwise. This way the water simply blasted through some trees but ultimately funneled into the river and left minimal destruction in its wake. Not wanting to use the technique for destructive purposes but rather to provide water in more arid environments where he would be more limited in his suiton technique usage. Also he imagined these waterbound summoning creatures he was to seek out would need water to operate optimally in so it couldn’t help in that kind of regard either.

Now was time to finish off the suiton techniques he had yet remained to re-familiarize himself with since not using them in so long. Just two left, then this sprint will be over. It really did take him back to the early days as a genin and chūnin, heading to the training grounds so often to learn these exciting new things and practice with his comrades. Those comrades were mostly gone or retired now, though this new generation looked awfully promising with many new budding leaves to keep the village bustling. This lasting peace was as unstable as it was inevitable to fall, while it sounded like relations with the Mist were fine there seemed to be forced at work in the other major villages that had fallen quiet. It was never a good sign for radio silence as it were, are there radios in this world? He figured he’d have to check the rules- I mean archives to see if that was the case. Troubling that he didn’t know, though having been so reliant on chakra his life it didn’t surprise him much. Releasing the seals and forming the bullet of suiton form the mouth of the watery dragon he eagerly went on towards the next and final offensive suiton technique in review.

The last offensive suiton technique he had in his prepared was a classic, requiring just the one hand seal he took control over the existing water. Forming the singular hand seal required to enact the technique a swirling mass of water formed a dragon before firing off in three distinct streams of water that crashed into the target practice dummies, drenching them as their cloth and straw compositions were eroded away by the powerful stream. Smiling, he was glad to see a suiton attack with such ferocity, wanting to expand his arsenal that required sources of water but needing to think of a way to bring that water with him. He knew that an answer to this problem lay with the sealing arts, he just needed to dedicate some time to really figuring out the details for a seal that would allow for him to bring prepared pockets of water stored away and allow for techniques like this to be used in more arid environments. With the list of techniques left to review it was getting closer and closer to the time when he’d have to come up with his own techniques to fill the gaps in his growing arsenal.

This next one was that actual last suiton technique he had prepared for review, one that made for a terrific combination with metal shinobi tools used to create sparks or katon jutsu. Creating a rain of oil like rain that is just as flammable made for a terrific set up technique to be used in concert with additional moves or shinobi. He was curious as to other elements his students would end up having, their adeptness with ninjutsu and chakra control on a whole seemed to be leagues better than most of their contemporaries, he figured it was a short matter of time before the first new element appeared. He recalled with ellation he had felt upon conquering the difficult raiton element, making it solely his own with how opposite it was to both his family heritages. He hoped for a similar liberating feeling from his students, though they had their own lives and histories that were unique to his own. Natsuki certainly had a strained relationship with katon, though Tōri secretly wished the lad would prove his worth without ever needing the fiery element so closely associated with his clan. Regardless, the leaf had a bright future ahead of it, both with its relatively young leading shinobi and budding newcomers who were making quite the splash.

Now aws time to hit some truly big hitter, the cream of the crop as far as doton techniques went in terms of complexity. There were just two such jutsu in the archives regarding to doton, still more than they had on suiton to his dismay. Already having conquered the available watery techniques it was time to finish off his close to heart doton element. Requiring a hearty amount of hand seals, Tōri was pleased to see he was capable of whipping through even more hand seals than required just now in under a second, market progress from when he started to get into the swing of things and start seriously training again.

Moulding his chakra Tōri began to tear the earth apart, making sure to keep the scale of the technique shrunk so as not to upend the training area entirely. There were still others using the facility, if not the immediate area he was in. And with the scale this technique was capable of was quite astounding, at least in terms of depth and structural integrity. Tearing open the earth gave him a good sense of how much control he was afforded over the affected earth, easily manipulating it to his liking in order to keep its effect to an absolute minimum.

Releasing the technique he realized just how useful this technique could be, even with sources of water being able to open up such depths that a river could be halted in its tracks or even the terrible force behind a flood kept at bay. Reaching the level of being able to combat against the natural forces of the world was a humbling responsibility to reach. He was sure this wouldn’t be the end either after witnessing the even further impressive moves by the dynamic duo of Airi and Tengoku as they bravely defended the village.
