Electrifying Training

Having spent her last solo training session focusing on non-elemental melee attacks, Sera entered the grand training facility with a new goal in mind. This time she would experiment with some new raiton techniques that she read about in some easily accessible scrolls.  She had a few lightning jutsu that she preferred to use, but there was no downside to learning everything that she could. If she were to train anything against an inanimate wooden enemy, lightning techniques seemed like a good fit. There was always the potential of electrocuting someone if you weren’t sure how to handle the voltage properly.

As she approached her normal wooden friend, Sera would begin to channel raiton chakra throughout her body and then concentrate it into her hands. With a quick jolt of her arm, she struck the wooden target with her palms and released the stored electricity. A flash of lightning erupted on impact and a singe mark appeared on the dummy where Sera attacked. The sparky Kunoichi grinned at the success and cracked her knuckles.

There was more where that came from!

Melee attacks were good and all, but the young lightning attack was pretty telegraphed, and wasn’t suited for a surprise scenario.  The next technique had dual uses and seemed like one of them could be used for such a thing. Instead of channeling the lightning chakra into her palm and then attacking the dummy, Sera imagined a more casual scenario and reached her arm out and patted the dummy’s shoulder as if they were good friends. Once the physical contact had been established, she would raise her free arm to the sky. Her skybound arm would suddenly be struck by electricity, flooding her body with the electrifying power. Since there was already a physical connection to the dummy, Sera was easily able to redirect the lightning through her hand on its shoulder.

“Sorry ol’ buddy” she would say with a grin.

With a hop in her step, Sera would back away from the wooden target and raise her other arm this time, summoning the lightning to fill her body once more.  The alternative use for the technique allowed her to delay the release while it was inside her body and then release it when the time was right.  With a little spin, Sera would put a gentle tap on the dummy’s “arm” and release the lightning once more.

That’s a fun one, but maybe a bit too conditional.

'Bunny Arrival' :

With a big stretch, Sera would extend her arms out towards the sky. After practicing close and semi-close combat back to back in an attempt to cover her weaknesses, Sera was finally ready to get back to practicing ranged attacks.  Although she preferred to shoot her targets with a bow, there were simply too many cases where an arrow wouldn’t do the job. When she had awoken to her lightning affinity, Sera was immediately glad that it could be used to cover one of her greatest weaknesses. If an enemy was covered in metal armor or hiding in some sort of fortress, arrows weren’t very effective. Lightning on the other hand, could be very effective against metal defenses in particular.

Sera walked about 20 meters away from her target dummy before channeling lightning chakra and performing hand seals once more. With the technique completed, she would direct her right arm and point towards her target, releasing the lightning as she did so.  Directed by her hand, a snake-like lightning bolt swam through the air and quickly found purchase on the singed wooden target. The animal-like nature of the attack was very aesthetically pleasing, but Sera couldn’t help but think that making it stand out more wasn’t necessarily a good thing. Especially for a hunter like herself.

'Bunny Arrival' :

In the recent training session with Tori, Sera learned that lightning techniques were especially strong against earth techniques. This next jutsu would specifically target the ground beneath an enemy and could be used to disrupt footing or electrocute said target. Sera eyed the singed, slashed and battered target dummy and looked at the dirt that lay beneath it. Although her trusted wooden target dummy could take a considerable amount of abuse, Sera was worried that if she destroyed the foundation on which it stood then it may not be able to stand much longer. Instead of testing the technique against the dummy, she would make her own target instead.  With a determined look on her face, Sera would move towards the center of the training grounds and using her foot, create a circle in the dirt.

Once her makeshift dirt target had been created, Sera would walk about 15 meters away and begin to perform the required handseals for the technique.  As she channeled her lightning chakra, Sera visualized it moving away from her and traveling through the ground towards the dirt circle.  With great gusto, she would slam her palms onto the ground and release the technique. Lightning emitted from her palms and would travel through the ground in a direct line to the circle. Once the lightning reached its destination the technique would detonate and electricity destroyed the dirt target. Another successful experiment under her belt, Sera would pump her fist in pride.

'Bunny Arrival' :

Her most recent experiment another success, Sera decided to push her luck and try out one final technique before she would head home. The hard working kunoichi wiped sweat from her brow and clapped her face in an attempt to psyche herself up.  The next technique was able to hit multiple targets at once so she would need to find a different area to train in.  Utilizing her hunting experience of looking for prey, she spotted a group of target dummies across the training ground that seemed to be clumped together. As she made her way there, it was apparent that some other shinobi had the same idea for these pitiful dummies. Scorch marks lay on the ground in the middle of 5 earthen dummies, most likely from someone testing out a larger scale fire technique.

It felt a little worrisome standing in the center of the scorch mark, but it seemed like a great position to strike all of the enemies at once from. She just hoped that no one was about to reignite the same location.  Now standing in the center of the dummies, Sera would perform the required hand seals and erupt with an electric current.  Compared to the other techniques she had cast today, this one had a bit of a slower speed, though when her attack made its mark, that wasn’t as much of an issue.  All 5 target dummies were electrified as the current collided with them; adding further scorch marks to the pile. Being able to hit multiple enemies was good for utility, but she would need to find a way to speed up the technique before it would be usable in actual combat.

As Sera left the training grounds, she would tap at her bow, a little disappointed she wasn’t able to practice her archery. Next time she would work on making her own techniques that combined lightning and archery!
