Report of an assassin wearing a rabbit mask had the entire village on edge, even the administration was unaware of who her target was, and that just added to the tension on everyone's head. The Rabbit was one of the top-class assassin's and was hard to track down, mostly due to the fact that no one knew who her target was until after it happened. Mixed with the fact that she was highly trained in stealth, made her a deadly force to mess with. Ren couldn't help but wonder if this assassin was sent in response to Airi locking up Blitz and Kaida, which of course would mean that Kiri was behind it, but right now that was just speculation. The entirety of the shinobi forces within Konoha had been called upon due to the threat level that this woman possessed, search parties spread out all across the village looking for any sign of her or even a clue that might help them locate her or her target. Ren's three tomoe sharingan scanned over the forest that he was assigned to patrol for signs of the Rabbit, they had been out for hours and yet there was not so much as a trace of the assassin. Akemi had already been summoned, hidden beneath his cloak as she sat on his shoulder. Ren figured in the worst-case scenario, if they weren't able to stop the Rabbit from reaching her target, that maybe they could reach her victim in time and Akemi would be able to heal them. At best, Ren was simply being overly cautious of the situation and there was nothing for them to be concerned about, but it was always better safe the sorry in Ren's mind. You could never be too prepared for what life may throw at you, and he was used to life throwing some shit in his direction in the past. So, he had learned to do his best to be prepared for whatever he could. As always dressed in his Sweetsilk cloak and battle kisode, Ren would make his way from tree to tree, stopping at random intervals to scan around area. It was unfortune that his Rain Tiger at will was less effective in such a dense forest, the trees blocking the rain and even providing some degree of cover would allow one that is smart enough to move through and remain dry without a single drop of water getting on them, and that would be a problem. Instead, Ren was having to relying purely on his chakra sensory and his sharingan. As the hours ticked by, Ren was beginning to think they might be in the wrong area and the rabbit was somewhere else when he heard the faintest of singing. It sounded almost like a lullaby, but no matter which direction he looked he could not find the source of this strange song. Out of the corner of his eye, Ren would see just a faint gleam in the air, giving him just barely enough time to dodge it before it struck the tree that he had been standing next to. Looking back at where he had been, Ren would see a throwing axe sticking out of the tree. It was the Rabbit; the axes were like her calling card, and they had been found at every murder that had been tied to her. The haunting singing would slowly get louder as Ren moved now knowing which direction the axe had come from, he would head in that direction looking out for any more axes that might be thrown his way. Catching another glint in the air he would quickly dodge out of the way slowly pinpointing the origin, the song had stopped by the time his eyes fell on the white ears of the Rabbit mask. With a single hand seal Ren would unleash a wave of devastating fire that would eviscerate the surrounding area, as well as the axes that the woman had thrown as he got close. The woman herself would be nothing but a smoldering corpse, she might have been fast, but he was obviously faster. With the threat now neutralized, Ren would report in and call it a night, returning home to rest.
