    Arrival Empty Arrival

Post by Masaru Thu Dec 08, 2022 11:39 am

Masaru sat on a small bed alone in his small room, his blade Korinar upon his lap as he ran a small whetstone and cloth along the edge of the blade. Devorakos set sheathed next to him, having already been sharpened. His Spectre Commander Mask would be hanging on the wall next to his bed, Masaru would be wearing his full Spectre Commander Armor, his bow Soulstring folded and stored in it's holster on the back of his hip. He had not really used the bow since he awoken from his Coma, however having it was still a habit as well as a reminder. Once he was done sharpening Korinar, he would return the blade to it's sheath and sitting it next to Devorakos on the bed before looking over the rest of his gear. Essentially going down his mental check list of items as he did so, from his Chakra Draining Kunai to his twenty pieces of sealing paper holding the large Exploding Spheres within them. Everything was accounted for, everything had been covered, at least he hoped it was. The only thing he didn't have was the Falcon contract, having already signed it the contract was locked away in the Tetsudashi vault for safe keeping. Hearing them call out from above deck that they were nearing their destination, Masaru would slide Devorakos and Korinar into the Baldric across his back forming an X with the blades, before grabbing his mask from the wall and heading out of the room. He wouldn't put the mask on at least not yet, once they landed though it would be. As he made it onto the deck of the ship he would be met with the sight of Akira, Isamu and Kaede, already upon the deck and staring off ahead of them. Even his pet Falcon Cain sat on a railing towards the front of the ship, looking out in the distance ahead of the. Moving closer Masaru would get his second look upon the Heavenly Emporium, and just like the first time he saw it, Masaru could himself at a loss for words.

Masaru would look upon the fallen city in shock as the five-man team, Oda, Masaru and his entourage of three Tetsudashi, approached it via boat. Though to everyone else it's destruction was years ago, to Masaru he had just visited the magnificent city a few months past. Meeting the famed Craftsman, learning of their relation, and getting Soulstring, the bow he now carried. Of course this happens, the world did not stop merely because he fell into a Coma, he was still catching up on everything that had happened in the last four years, yet this was the most troublesome. To see such a beautiful and marvelous thing like the city be destroyed, the power that was required to do something like that, it was both a wonder and a danger. The fact that it was still floating even after the destruction show just how skilled as well as ingenious his cousin was in it's design, the fact that he has been missing for the past two years without so much as a sign or whisper says that whoever took him is planning something big. It was obvious whatever this plan was it would take time, but with two years already gone, how much time was anyone's guess and Masaru didn't like their odds. He had to find out what happened, who took his cousin and why, but most importantly where they took him.

Their journey had used a lot of energy, however the boat ride helped for some relaxation. Giving them all time off their feet, and restoring the reserves for what came next. Though most of their journey would be in silence, as they drew closer Masaru would call his spectre unit over to him to begin making plans on what they needed to do as he activated his chakra sensory. If Oda also joined in this that was fine, if not Masaru would just wait until he spoke with him and inform him of the plan.

    Arrival Empty Re: Arrival

Post by Oda Fri Dec 09, 2022 2:05 am

Oda would lay in a hammock somewhere to the back of the crews quarters. The sway of the ocean quiet relaxing to him. A gentle back and forth like the sway of a mothers arms to her newborn. He had taken the time to read a light traveling novel and partake in a few games with the crew. No gambling of course but still they enjoyed his warm presence amidst their meals. After all the sea was a very cold place in the winter. Often they had seen floating islands of ice here and there. Still he had been regaled with several stories and shared a few of his own. By the time they had neared their destination after only a single night many had expressed how much they would miss him. Exchanging warm embraces and hand shakes. Not only had he brought warmth to their slumber he had brought warmth to their hearts. Even some of the hardened men had found comfort in the laughter he seemed to encourage from those around him. Some of them even having accepted some tea. Though they had asked for the recipe or even to ship it for him for profit he had simply turned them down. Tea was a gentleman's art.

Still for now he would scribble a few notes in a journal of his own before hearing the call of arrival. Their shipment it seemed was further to the east but they could at least drop them off there. There was no profit to be made there however. That said there was a company needing a lot of resources to the east. Ships by the dozens were sailing out to deliver. Not many could say what was out there but it was happening in the land of sky. He would pocket his pen and notebook before slipping out of his hammock. He was wearing his usual simple black uniform with bronze buttons. Over his chest he had equipped his ebony breastplate and then he had put on his white coat with flames embroidered along the hems. His white hair with red and black mixed into it would match his clothes and coat. As if he were walking fire. Still he would equip the ebony greaves and braces before slinging his odachi Fumetsu across his back as well though he was only a little taller than the weapon itself. A 36 inch odachi of superior craftsmanship. The Adamantite metal is stamped with the name of the sword inlaid in gold and the emerald green sharkshin tsukaito wraps around an inlaid iron symbol for tthe iron nation. The Tsuba is carved from bone, reinforced by the maker to be neigh indestructible.

Oda would walk out onto the deck of the ship as they passed by a nearby iceburg to notice Masaru and his men getting ready as they seemed to speak among each other. His pale eyes shifting to them a moment before back to the wreckage of the Emporium. He had actually trained there with some shinobi back just before it fell. Well by train he meant he had challenged them one by one until one could actually beat him. A fire style Kenjutsu specialist much like himself. What a promising lad he had been. Still he would note a makeshift dock with workers up ahead. The ship itself couldn't dock there but it could let them off via rowboat. Still Oda would note the people ahead were natives? It appeared this floating island was inhabited. Were their eyes...black? Perhaps it was an effect of remaining here too long. Their stay should probably remain brief. Calling out to Masaru He would continue to examine the destination.

"Let us remember these are people. We are not here to conquer but to discover. Honey gathers more flies than vinegar. I prefer the diplomatic way is what I mean to say."

Post by Masaru Fri Dec 09, 2022 3:11 am

Masaru would nod to Oda as he saw the man come up from below deck, finishing with his team, Masaru would dismiss them before walking up to Oda. "Believe me, I have no interest in conquering these people, but I find it is better to be safe. With what has already happened here, you never know who could be hiding in the city. I have come here for one reason and one reason only, to find what has happened to my cousin." Masaru would pause his forearm coating in steel as Cain came to perch upon it. Briefly rubbing the birds head with his finger, before looking back to the broken city. "Once I figure out what has happened to Okane, I plan to leave, though I will be requesting the Tsuchikage for aid to these inhabitants when I return home to Iwa."

Between the damage to the city and who knows what else, Masaru was surprised to see so many people or so many tents scattered amongst the rubbles of his cousins former city. Masaru would point to the remnants of Stag Tower as they docked, and Cain took off into the air. "That's where we will be heading, Diana sources said that Okane was in the Tower at the time of the attack, so it is the best bet for us to start there." Masaru mask would be on top of his head, rather than covering it just yet. He would only need to lower it over his face if they were to be attacked, but from the looks of these people at the docks they didn't look like much for the attacking. Of course, Masaru knew looks could be deceiving and his guard would remain raised the entire time.

    Arrival Empty Re: Arrival

Post by Oda Fri Dec 09, 2022 3:09 pm

Oda would listen to his travel partners words. People were shut off naturally to each other. A long history of humans taking advantage of one another or simply killing for a multitude of reasons had led to such suspicion as a survival instinct. Likely the people they are heading towards would feel a lot of the same. There was no trade route directly here and they appeared to be surviving off the resources the island provided. However they lacked enough proper tools to really establish a proper settlement. The ruins worked for supplies mostly. Enough to create shelter and a medical area. At least their organization seemed to work as some sort of governing force. They would board a row boat and be taken to the docks. Masaru mentioning intentions to send help.

"I would lead with that. Promises of honey are better use to us than the obvious threat we appear to be. An armed party arriving at their home. No doubt their trust will help with your quest. Survivors answer questions."

With That Oda would step off the rowboat as they docked. The mention of the Stag tower being their first stop would draw his pale gaze to it. The building used to sit with its peak in the clouds. It was said that in the CEO office one could see above them. It was said that Okane had been considered like a god looking down from the heavens at the people below. Now all that was left of the hubris was its ruined shell barely crawling along. It would be a lesson in pride if ever there was one. Still he would approach the two young men who secured their rowboat for them. The ship already sailing away and leaving the rowboat to them. It wasn't a loss considering what had been paid for passage. They looked at him with black eyes with blue irises. Cautious glances between each other. Oda would speak to them.

    "Hold out your hands please."

His warm aura was likely a gift on these docks in the frosty morning. The only reason they couldn't see their breath was because of the heat Oda was filling the area around him with. That warmth matched his eyes and his smile. His genuine nature drawing each of them to hesitantly hold out a hand. Quietly Oda would tip them each some ryo before bowing his head in a light thanks. With that done he would join where Masaru's team had gathered. Smiling before glancing to Masaru.

"Promises of a better future are often little more than that. Some coin in hand now will spread word of generous visitors instead of armed invaders. A place like this I am sure word like that will travel quickly. I think by the time we finish exploring the tower we will be looked upon favorably enough to ask questions. Plant a seed if you want a harvest."

    Arrival Empty Re: Arrival

Post by Masaru Fri Dec 09, 2022 8:19 pm

Masaru would simply nod to Oda's words, in truth he could have done without the entourage, but considering the Tsuchikage wouldn't allow him to travel so soon on his own. So they were required, at least he was allowed to hand pick them. He knew that he could trust them, they wouldn't act without his command so there was little chance that problems would be caused by them. The fact that he had personally over seen their training four years ago, as well as knew their abilities, was a bonus in his mind. They were effective, and sometimes that was necessary.

His team exiting the row boat before him, he didn't really care why they did it, but for them maybe it felt like they were being useful. His team would gather not far from the edge of the docks as they already began scanning the city from where they waited, Masaru would pause briefly observing Oda with the two men before joining his team. He often forgot how a little could go a long way, the kind words or reward offered for the tasks performed. He had not even considered payment for them securing the rowboat, though when Oda rejoined them and spoke of coin helping to spread word, a thought formed in his mind.

Stopping one of the men before they left the dock, Masaru would hold out a small sack of fifty Ryo and place it in the man's hand. "This is for you and your friend there, for helping us dock." Masaru would state with a smile as he motioned towards the other man. "If you would be so kind as to tell everyone you know, that I am offering a substantial reward of ten thousand Ryo for any information about what happened to the former leader of this city, Okane, two years ago. Anyone that can help in my search for information would be welcomed. If their information leads to finding him, I will personally see to it that they are rewarded more." Masaru would smile patting the man on his back as him and his partner moved away from Masaru. He had no idea if it would actually work, or if the two would tell anyone, but if they didn't it was only fifty Ryo not worth much to the man at this point. His care for his wealth was not an issue, to find his cousin the man was willing to spare no expense, and fully intended to pay if necessary for information about his disappearance. Though he had know way of knowing whether or not anyone that was around when the attack happened was still around, he could hope.

Looking back over to Oda, Masaru would shrug. "Can never hurt to grease the wheels a little, as it were." He would let out a small chuckle as he said this before his serious demeanor returned. "Let us get started shall we," Masaru stated to both Oda as well as his team as he began moving down the street towards the tower. With the city in the state of destruction it was, Masaru was actually surprised the tower was still standing at all. Of course, that showed the testament to Okane's engineering, Masaru just had to hope that the tower was intact enough to still offer clues.

Oda would glance over to the man as he made an extravagant donation to the men. More so than Oda had by far and listened even as he mentioned a large cash prize for information. It was enough to draw attention though Oda would hope not the wrong kind. They needed information here but now con artists and perhaps even those who fancy themselves big time thieves would be monitoring them if there were any. His pale gaze would take in the man before they began to walk. A sigh escaping his lips as he would shove his hands into his coat pockets. With this lot here he could remain comfortable with his guard up just a little still. Still he would speak up as they walked down the crumbling street.

"It must be nice to be so wealthy. Or perhaps you expect your cousin to reimburse you? Dozens of people might come forward to tell you anything you might believe. It's a risk. No information can often be more telling than misinformation. That said I hope it works out for us."

He would say calmly as the tower seemed to stretch higher and higher before them the closer they got. A large amount of people were living this close to the tower where it seems the structures had survived better. Though still every eye was pitch black with blue iris. They watched them cautiously until they started to head straight for the front door of the tower. A small crowd of people would block their path. Not armed but still looking ashamed. An elder of theirs would step forward to speak with them. Even his eyes were darkened but he seemed to speak for the group present. His hunched over form was still in a work uniform as upper management. Most of the people here were dressed in one version of a uniform or another. Built sturdy to last. Still his cracking voice would reach them as he decided on Masaru to speak with first.

"You must be the new arrivals...here seeking information rather than treasure. I or rather we must ask that you do not enter the tower. Recently A pirate lord has taken it over and his crew is rather strong and dedicated to holding this place. Making it to the top without destroying whats left of our sacred structure may prove impossible. Before you try it though...I would ask you to come with us to the palace....A special building made of Senju wood and Tetsudashi steel. A collaboration with Lord Okane himself. There is someone there who would speak with you."

    Arrival Empty Re: Arrival

Post by Masaru Sun Dec 11, 2022 7:29 pm

Masaru would let out a low chuckle to Oda's comment as they walked towards the tower, "You misunderstand, friend. I have never really considered myself wealthy, though I suppose that comes from having it. I have no need for it truly, nor do I care for it. There is only one thing in this world that I truly care for and that is my family, for my family I would do anything, go anywhere, and spend whatever I have to spend to find them, protect them, whatever they need from me. I do not expect anything in return from my cousin, nor would I accept anything from him." Masaru would pause glancing up at the top of the tower, letting out a sigh before looking back to the road and continuing on. "If it means that I am a poor man by the end of this then so be it, I do not require it for my happiness, but one way or another I will find my cousin. As for misinformation, that is to be expected which is why the reward is so low. I sometimes find that even misinformation can hold grains of truth to them, even then it would lead to a trail of who wished for us to have this misinformation. Either they give us information that might pertain to my cousin's whereabouts, or they give us clues to those that took him by misleading us. I believe either outcome is worth a little Ryo." Seeing the people all around, Masaru couldn't help but feel a slight pity for them. If he could do more than just offer Ryo to these people, he would. Unfortunately, he no longer carried the authority he once did, so his help was much more limited. Masaru would hand a small bag to Kaeda and motioned to the people, giving each of her brothers a small portion of the ryo within the bag and the three of them began giving everyone in the street a little of the ryo.

When a group blocked their path however, Masaru would grow slightly concerned, though he would not act upon it, choosing instead to remain calm and wait as he came to a stop twenty meters away from where the group was blocking the path. Like the one's at the docks, these people did not look like the fighting type so the reason they would block their path eluded Masaru. Until the old man came forward and spoke, as he listened to the man's words Masaru's gaze would slowly travel up the tower, once it reached the top of the tower, Masaru would look over to Oda with a small smile before turning his attention back to the old man. The thoughts of a pirate lord did not detour Masaru's desire, however if the tower were to be destroyed before he got the information, he needed then it would all be for not. Not to mention the fact that these people seem to view it as sacred, which would only cause problems if it were destroyed not to mention the severe loss of life as they all seemed to live around the tower. Though he could probably reinforce it with his steel release, he was not sure how long it would hold or if it would measure up to what was needed to keep if from collapsing. "So tell me, who is it that wishes to speak to us? Why do they not simply come and speak to us, we are not hiding our presence here." Masaru would pause looking to Oda, recalling the man's words of misinformation and the like. "how do we know that you do not work for this pirate lord that claims dominion over this tower and you are leading us into a trap?"

Oda would walk along quietly as they arrived until his pale eyes took in the group and Masaru. He would remain quiet for the time being. After all Masaru was the experienced politician outside of Iron. It would be interesting to see how things may play out. Besides his attention was drawn more to the windows above them. They were being watched now but the enemy wasn't making the first move. Perhaps they had dealt with travelers before or they simply enjoyed their hierarchy. Still any fool looking at this group would be able to tell they were elite. Still Masaru would ask the people there if they worked for the pirate lord. Oda could see their eyes turn down and away. Shame and anger mixed together in clenched fists and tears. This was an oppressed people. He could almost sense their pain and anguish for being forced under some wicked man. This wasn't the life they had known or chosen. This was a form of slavery to them. The old man would seem to shake in anger as well. The indignation of his powerlessness trembling as he spoke through clenched teeth.

"No one here has a choice...but our leader...they left him in such a state...he can not walk so he could not come himself. Please...we beg of you to hear him out..."

The old man would drop down to his knees and place his hands on the ground. His forehead pressing to the road in front of him. Slowly every person blocking their path would drop and in shame they would begin to take on a begging pose. Oda would feel an anger rising in himself. The heat pulsing off of him would surge as his hand took to his Odachi over his shoulder. Oda would step passed them as they looked at him in shock. Despite their protest he was walking passed them. They would look between Oda as he walked through the crowd. Something about those pale eyes filled with rage kept them from saying anything to him. Still he would call out back behind him. His voice was different. Something of a cold tone as he had set it in his mind. He was going to kill these pirates.

"Hey.....Masaru. Allow me to be selfish for a bit and soften up these pirates. I can not simply sit by any longer when I see oppression. Go. Respect their wishes. Don't worry about the building. My sword is all I need for this lot. And they can not kill me. Talk to whoever has your answers and I will make sure these assholes answer to me."

As he listened to the man's words and watched him fall to his knees followed by the others, Masaru's heart would ache for the people. "Please rise, there is no need for this," he would say as he moved towards the man to help him back to his feet. His eyes falling on Oda as he moved forward past the people, he wouldn't say anything to the samurai just yet, his words directed to the old man. "You can take me to your leader simply lead the way."

Masaru would turn to Oda as he called out to him, of course he could not stop the man from doing what he wished to do. "If that is what you want, far be it from me to stop you. Just be mindful, there are many innocent around, there is no need for them to get hurt." As he would turn to leave with the old man however he would signal to Kaeda that they were going to remain above ground just in case. Both to keep an eye on the people and ensure their safety as well as to back up Oda, whether the other man believed he needed help or not, Masaru would have them stay with him to ensure that the man did not become overwhelmed. Looking back to the old man Masaru would look to him with a smile, "Lead the way, and I shall follow." Whether it was a trap or not, Masaru would meet with their leader, and then he would come back and help Oda deal with whatever pirates remained.

Oda would nod before continuing to walk into Stag Tower. He had no intentions of spreading his fire. Nor the ability to. All of his abilities were for close range combat. The fact that the building had managed to survive the fall of the city and whatever attack had happened to it meant that a few burning corpses wouldn't finish it off. Still no sooner had he walked through the doors into the lobby than he was greeted by these so called pirates. No lord of them to be seen in sight. Pale eyes would shift to look up as if he could see through the floors to the man himself. However his thoughts were interrupted as ten pirates would rise from where they were lounging. The gate guard no doubt. They had an assortment of weapons but none of them appeared too impressive. Still one would pull out a cutlass. Speaking to Oda with a sick smirk on his face.

"Well well a traveler thinks he's tough eh? Now now no need for violence. Put yer fancy sword and armor on the ground and grovel...and we may just let you go....fight us and when yer dead we will take it out on these people her..."

His voice was cut off as in a masterful move Oda would draw his blade as his eyes turned red. Flames bursting from his blade as he sliced clean across the man from side to side. His cutlass falling in half before he burst into flames. Already dead and unable to scream. However Oda had heard enough. Greedy men who used people as hostages he had no need to restrain himself with. Before the others could recover from the sudden death of their speaker he was upon them. A dance of swordsmanship with clean strokes and continuous movement. Oda himself showing no signs of effort as he flowed from one target to the next. Attempts to block or dodge were met with a sword that could not be stopped by such feeble weapons. Their screams would echo out one after the other in a panic as flashes of fire marked another person burned to ashes. Soon he had cleared all ten people on the first floor. Likely this would raise alarms. However Oda had no fear of these men. Only a righteous fury that would carry him floor to floor with or without help. Though he would not stop Masaru's men from joining in so long as they kept the damage minimal as he was.

The old man however would ask Masaru for his arm to steady himself as they walked. Looking over his shoulder at the attack on the tower with concern in his eyes. Their pace wasn't too quick but they entered what appeared to be a tunnel formed from a collapsed section of the city. His elderly voice cracking as he spoke to Masaru as the tower faded from sight. "Will that child be alright? Those young men look capable but he can't be older than sixteen can he?" Of course that was just due to the slow aging process of the Hinode. Oda looked like a teenager despite being nearly forty in actuality. Still there would be time for Masaru to reassure or correct him until they arrived at a section of the city that stood out. Here was a palace made of Senju wood and Tetsudashi steel that had crashed through its weaker city corner stones when the city crashed. Above it was open sky that let light fall within the under tunnel of the city structure. These massive maintenance tunnels now the home of the structure that Okane and a Senju had made together. There were even Senju trees baring fruit despite the cold temperature filtering through from outside. It was warmer down here and it appeared this place provided food to the people left behind.

People were tending to gardens they had kept alive here with an irrigation system the filtered the salt out of the water from the sea. Abundant food and drinking water had made the basics of what they needed for survival. Though it appeared the children that had not been seen until now were still being given schooling here. However even their eyes were black with blue iris. Watching Masaru in a mixture of fear an curiosity. One little girl would break free from her fear though and run up to Masaru and hold a fruit out to him. Smiling happily as kind as she was. If he took it she would run back to her friends and giggle. The old man chuckling as he would explain.

"The Pirate lord had no interest outside the tower and we haven't revealed this place to them. That was the granddaughter of our leader. Rose. She is a sweet girl but her parents were lost to us in the Indiana attack. The fruit was a creation of bioengineering that Okane had backed during his rule. It grows all year round and surprisingly tastes sweet as cherrys. However don't let its flavor fool you...it was designed as a crop to grow multiple times year round with minimal nutrients needed in the soil. The fruit itself carries all the vitamins a human body needs to stay healthy. One of the wonders that helped us survive I suppose. We are almost there now young man. Almost there."

    Arrival Empty Re: Arrival

Post by Masaru Thu Dec 15, 2022 1:34 pm

Masaru would move his hand over the ground in front of Kaeda, causing three Katanas made from his own Steel to be produced at the woman's feet. The three of them had yet to fully master their own release of their clan's ability, however they were still skilled swordsmen in their own right. With Masaru's steel release these weapons would be on par or better than any weapon that the pirates might have. As Kaeda distributed the other weapons to her brother and husband, Masaru's arm would go to help steady the old man. As they entered the would-be tunnel, the result of the city crashing no doubt, Masaru would chuckle at the old man's question of if the child would be alright. "Do not worry about Lord Hinode. He may look young, but he is actually older than he looks. He is also one of the best Samurai within the Land of Iron, he is more than capable of taking care of a few pirates, and my men will watch his back as well." Of Masaru's men however, only Akira would enter the tower with Oda, Kaeda and Isamu standing guard over the people outside, should any pirates or other thugs attempt to come outside, or were on patrol on the outside of the tower. Akira would keep his distance from the Samurai ensuring that he did not get in the other man's way as he began to help Oda slice through the Pirates that stood guard within the tower. He moved slower than the samurai was, only really bringing up the rear and catching anyone that Oda did not fully take down or any that might try to come at the man from behind. His sword meeting with a man that had hidden himself behind a pillar as Oda's attack began, cutting the man down before he could do whatever it was, he had planned.

As Masaru arrived in the underground oasis, as it were, with the old man. Seeing all of these people here, as well as the children, was a marvelous sight. The way the light shined within the tunnel like a spotlight over the small slice of paradise only added to the beauty of it all. One that almost rivaled the structure itself, it was a true miracle that so much had been able to survive, as well as the people. Seeing the girl run up and offer him the fruit, Masaru would smile at the young child as he took the fruit, but she would run off before he could think her, so he would smile and wave to her and her friends. As the man would explain what had befallen these good people, his smile would faulter. Taking a bite from the fruit, Masaru could tell instantly what the man was talking about. It was as if every tastebud in his mouth was receiving small shocks of electricity as he chewed. After swallowing the bite, he would wipe his mouth before looking back to the little girl that had given it to him and mouthing the words thank you to her. Masaru would then turn his attention back to the old man beside him, "That is quite alright, we can take as much time as we need. No need to rush yourself." Masaru would reply with a smile, he would not rush the man the fact that he had his chakra sensory on would alert him to anyone that would try to attack him down here. He was also sure that Oda and the others could handle themselves when it came to a bunch of Pirates.

    Arrival Empty Re: Arrival

Post by Oda Sun Dec 18, 2022 12:01 am

Oda was making slow progress floor to floor. The enemy made use of crossbows to keep forward momentum at a minimum while numbers gathered up. Of course Oda would reach them quickly and cut through the enemy with the help of the one with him. However their crossbows did not frighten him. Oda would push through with his armor and sword crossed in front of his face. Anything aimed for his legs would meet ebony armor and anything aimed for his face or chest would too. Some bolts would punch through the gaps in his armor but with little more than a grunt Oda would push through. His robes stained lightly with his own blood but not nearly enough for how many wounds he was taking. As he would cut down the next group, their bodies flashing ablaze and their screams being their final sounds Oda would feel the bolts pushing out of him. Clanking down to the floor at his feet as he pushed on. His regeneration making their attacks virtually voided. He chose to take the front of the attack regardless of the steel release of the man with him. Still it would be a lengthy battle as he progressed on.

However the ones posted out front would not simply be left to watch long. The sound of an approaching group could be heard as boots hit pavement. The people in the area scattered back to the surrounding structures for cover. Not looking to be caught up in this fight they could not win. A new ship had docked somewhere nearby. It appeared that they had hit the trade ship Oda and Masaru and friends had arrived on. One of them wearing a unique sash he had pulled off a crew man he killed and was showing it off to his friends. The trade ship never had a chance out here without them. Not knowing it had swung too close to a pirate den. However a man in black pants and boots with a dirty white button up and a suit vest over it would whistle as they got close. Drawing a quiet over his men. Their eyes taking in the armed people before them outside the tower. A whole crew of twenty five men all armed would eye the shinobi. The captain sneering as he glance to the tower and the flashes of fire within before back to the ninja before him.

"Did ye think ye had em all in one buildin eh? We are many you unfortunate sods. A fuckin armada. The big man be in his office but we just got back. So here is how its gonna go ye? We are gonna chop you lot into fine bits and then come up from behind yer friends in there...and do the same to them. Surprise from the back. Maybe I toss em your ead yeh?"

The fruit would be delicious and provide the body with vitamins after all. The old man would look off after the girl with a smile before his attention was drawn back to Masaru. His smile meeting those tainted eyes. Still he would pat the previous Tsuchikage on the arm as they continued on into the palace. "My my aren't you a good boy." He would say pleasantly. Not mockingly as some might but actually showing pride in the mans choice to be patient. He would lead him through the palace with most of the structure still intact. Rooms were mostly all in use as either classrooms or bedrooms for the elderly and children. It was their adults that struggled to rebuild under the eye of the pirate lord. Giving their children and their elders a chance at a good life still. However the main chambers which had been meant for Okane was turned into a critical care center. Several beds with their gathered medical equipment. However only one was occupied. A man laid in that bed with an IV bag going to a pick in his arm. A rubber tube going under and into his nose providing oxygen. Bandages covered the majority of his body and from what they would be able to see were cold burns along the majority of it. The mans one good eye would shift to Masaru as he entered. He would grunt before using the controls on the bed to slowly sit himself up feebly. Speaking to Masaru once it finished. Catching his breath every few words.

    "A Kage....visiting me...how....fortunate that I would....be so honored. I am sure....you have questions...for me...."

    Arrival Empty Re: Arrival

Post by Masaru Fri Dec 23, 2022 12:42 am

In the Tower, Akira would coat himself in his steel release as he followed Oda into the fray of crossbow bolts, forming a string of two hand seals with one hand as he moved as twenty steel dragonflies came from his body and shot forward at the ones in front of them, careful to avoid the samurai in the front of their combined attack. The jutsu was not powerful capable of maybe taking down one or two of the men they were facing, but it would be the only one that Akira would risk using within the building for fear that his other techniques would cause problems to the tower. His blade clashing with another, before parrying the blade and driving his own through the man, once the ones near them were dealt with Akira would look to Oda and nod before moving on to deal with the ones that were moving to intercept their advance. Akira would freeform several daggers and shuriken from his steel release as he charged forward, releasing them in a burst as they formed and flew all within seconds as a barrage of them launched into the next group that stood within the pair's way. Akira would not leave Oda however, keeping close to the man not out of fear that the man could not take care of himself or that he needed the man to protect him. It was a sense of comradery to Akira, partners in this assault and he would watch the man's back even if he knew the man did not need it.

Outside the Tower, Kaeda and Isamu would face the Pirates that had just arrived upon the island. Their sensory alerting them before the pirates themselves even rounded the corner, they had expected as much, which was why they stationed themselves outside the tower in the first place, it was only a matter of time before someone showed up. With the people out of harm's way, the two of them did not need to worry about someone getting caught in the crossfire. A smile forming on Kaeda's face as she looked over to her husband, "I got the 12 on the left, you get the 12 on the right, and we will meet back up at the big guy." she would state with a wink before forming three quick hand seals almost in unison with her husband who formed a string of two. As a large ten foot wall of steel was formed in front of them, the ground beneath the Pirates would quickly turn to that of a swamp. The chakra of the swamp seemingly pulling the men down into it, with the spread of the swamp it was possible that it encompassed all of them, though with Isamu intentionally trying to avoid the buildings and focus it solely towards the street, as well as the wall now blocking their view, one did not know if it was successful. Still the Kaeda would not be done with the steel wall, just as quickly as it raised from the ground, spikes would form on the front and begin firing off at the pirates, each one aimed for a different pirate through the use of her sensory technique from behind the wall. Whether they could defeat the pirates or not would remain to be seen, but if they could at least hold off until Masaru rejoined them then there would be no need to worry.

Underground, Masaru would let out a small chuckle at the man's words. Having been many years since anyone had called him a boy, it actually felt like a compliment coming from the old man gripping his arm as they walked. As they entered the palace, the fact that he could see most of them as classrooms and such would bring a small anger to Masaru, not at the people but towards the pirates that were oppressing them. As they entered what Masaru would assume use to be the master bedroom or kings' room as far as a palace was concerned, it was clear that they had converted it into a makeshift hospital of sorts. Of course, there was only one man in the room, and this singular man did not look as though he should be alive given his condition. Masaru waited for the man to adjust in his bed, silently marveling at the fact that the man could move at all. After the man spoke, Masaru would step closer before kneeling down on one knee next to the man upon the bed. "Your words are too kind, I am no long a Kage, I speak for no country, and I am the one who is honored that your people sought me out to bring me before you. I am simply a man who seeks knowledge for the whereabouts of my Cousin. Is there anything you can tell me about what happened to Okane, on the day he disappeared? Anything that could at least point me in a direction or person."

Oda and his steel skinned companion would continue tearing through any enemy they could reach. Bodies left in their wake. However the numbers were getting bigger and the enemies stronger. What had once been a push through the enemies was turning into a slog. Every floor gained was slow progress and while the enemies were still no match for the two, they were delaying them. Perhaps this pirate lord was confident in his military might that he wouldn't take the two on personally. Instead he had sent one of his captains. A ruthless man who used two cutlass. Oda would be forced to use the length of his Odachi to keep the captain at bay and fight with an advantage. Even adopting a proper Kenjutsu stance. However the man himself was quick and Oda could do little more than defend alone. It would take a coordinated effort between the two to cut down this captain.

Outside several pirate crew members seemed to have fallen under the steel spikes. However a water wall would erect across from it shortly after the bombardment started. Unleashing its own shots at the steel wall with powerful impacts. Both the combined pirate effort with water jutsu and the steel wall would hold for now though. A stand off with both sides holding for now. However this was not a game they could outlast. The chakra on the other side of that water wall was split between a dozen individuals. In a game at length the couple would falter first in stamina. The numbers weren't on their side. However they would just need to hold out for Masaru. If that man joined the battle than all these pirates were doomed. They didn't stand a chance.

Inside the room of the palace the man would listen to Masaru and cough out a laugh. Wheezing before turning up his air with a shaking weak hand. Feebly turning it up to regain his breath. Once he did he would take a couple of deep breaths. He needed to talk now before it was too late. It was clear he did not have long for this world. However perhaps fate still believed in him. Enough to give him the luck of meeting the man before him. Still he smiled weakly before speaking again.

"You held the title...your name was known across the....nations.... You can't walk away from tha....That. What you were....who you...were....That will never be forgotten....You touched history...it marks you....Still if it is information you seek...I was there...I was head of security and le....led my men to slaughter. Of all the people we...had to stop...The Old Bear...the Nidaime Mizukage...was beyond us. And our limited....capabilities."

Akira would launch several of his steel release shuriken at the captain that Oda was engaged with as he slashed down more of the man's subordinates, hoping to catch the man off guard or at the very least get him to move his blade to defend against his attack leaving himself open for Oda to strike. If that did not work, Akira would move to flank the man from the side as he attacked the man with the sword Masaru had created. Attacking the man on two fronts between himself and Oda, but before he moved to attack, he formed another two hand seals. Releasing another steel swarm that would shoot out and circle around behind the captain to make the attack on a third front, Akira doubted that the man would be fast enough to take on all three assaults at once. He and his swarm would be the distraction for the man, leaving Oda open to deal the final blow.

With the Swamp slowly forming beneath the pirates outside, Kaeda would sense the chakra they unified together to form a wall protecting them from her spikes. The thudding of the shots of water hitting the steel wall causing the woman to look to her husband, her wall would hold for now but so would theirs. She would not however, be willing to give up. Isamu would look to the woman that was both his wife and his leader with absolute confidence, there would be no need for them to share words now they both knew what they needed to do. Isamu would form a string of three hand seals creating a second Iron curtain in front of the first, this would double their defense while they waited for Masaru to return from wherever it was these people had taken the man. Kaeda would use her chakra sensory to be able to see where the pirates were, some of the pirates were already beginning to sink within the swamp Isamu had created beneath them. Thrusting her hand forward, towards the pirates, Kaeda would create several spikes of earth that instantly transformed into steel as it would pierce through the wall of water to reach their marks. She didn't have to hit many, she was just trying to thin out the herd to increase their chances as they remained behind their dual Iron Curtains.

As the old man spoke to Masaru a small feeling of dread would form within him at the old man's words, "That is impossible, Nikuyo is dead." Masaru would finally muster out when the old man finished speaking, he had heard tell of The Old Bear. The whole world had, but it was his understanding that the man had died years ago. "Are you saying Nikuyo Yuki, lead the assault against this city? Was this an attack orchestrated by the hidden mist?" He was getting answers, but it just led to more questions. Masaru's mind would race, but he knew he could not push the old man, he could already feel the man's chakra waning, but he had to know.

    Arrival Empty Re: Arrival

Post by Oda Mon Jan 02, 2023 3:44 pm

Oda would press on. The captain falling with the help of his steel partner and his thrown weapons. Steel release was truly an impressive ability to have. Still Oda could tell they were making slower progress now. There were four floors between them and the master of this place and they simply were not strong enough. Oda could likely clear three of the remaining floors but...even on the edge of his sensory he could feel the pirate lords chakra equal to his own....Had they fought from the beginning Oda may have been able to fight him one on one and prevailed...but there were thirty pirates between him and them still and he had been regenerating for some time from his wounds. The one next to him had been using chakra too to produce his attacks and likely wouldn't have much left after they cleared them. However they were holding their ground. Twenty eight of them spread between the next two floors and two more captains on the third with the pirate lord at the end....however Masaru had been a Kage....one on one with that man he would prevail....Oda just needed to clear the way. His pale eyes would fall on the young man with him as they caught their breath.

"What you are about to see is to be kept between us. This is my secret technique style. Fire Breathing."

Oda would take a deep breath and begin to control his breathing as he flicked the blood off his Odachi. Walking up the steps to the next floor as he continued to breath. Slowly sparks of flame would emerge from the corners of his mouth as the heat picked up just like Masarus heat did. The structure up here was more intact than below. Towering above the city below. It could withstand most jutsu without structural damage. As Oda would step forward to the last step he would grip his Odachi with both hands. Adopting a stance as the ground beneath his feet burned and left black foot prints. Suddenly he would burst from person to person. In a continuous dance of motion with a continuous breathing method. His strength and quality of his sword slicing through weapons and men alike. Anything he cut burst into brilliant flames and burned screaming with the slightest of cuts. All of his katon chakra focused into his blade as he cleared the first of three floors before the boss. Twelve men cut down like paper and burned to ash. Unable to stop him with wounds or armor or weapons. Oda simply cut through their weak wills.

"Third breath of fire - Strength of will."

At the bottom the second wall had nullified the weaker water wall of the combined pirates. Soon it faltered entirely as they were slowly pulled into the mud or wiped out by metal shots from the steel walls. Their remaining member however would manage to fire off a flare into the sky. Before he too would fall before their power. For a moment their was silence. The couple had achieved total victory easily. However in the distance the sound of thunder could be heard. On a clear summer day it cracked and then did so again. One after another. The pirates having lost the fight were sore losers. Now the surrounding market in front of the Stag Tower was about to be bombarded with cannon fire from the ships docked at the edge. The flare was a signal to bombard for the pirates. Calling in the artillery so to speak.

The old man would cough harshly as he tried to laugh when he was told what he had said was impossible. He would gasp for air a moment before regaining himself as he let a crooked smile slip out. His one good eye focusing on Masaru a moment as he asked if it was Kiri behind all this. A slight shake of his head no before he would answer Masaru. "I know....the....man who killed me....sure as I know you....I won't live much longer....probably not more than another night....but I will die with my .....my granddaughter in my....arms...She will weep for....me....But you must give her....a future....It wasn't Kiri...it was....a new Master....A Society...." He would almost whisper before the sound of distant cannon fire would be heard. People outside cried out before running to get into the palace like a bunker. It was clear Masaru's time was cut short....However the old man would reach out. Weakly grabbing his hand a moment. Tears running down his cheeks as he tried desperately to hold him one more moment. "Please.....these....are....my people....Don't leave us here to....to the whims of....men like them. We have power....over gravity...together we cou....could move to Iwas coast....Please....take us in as a clan....Give them a future..."

    Arrival Empty Re: Arrival

Post by Masaru Sat Jan 07, 2023 8:51 am

Listening to the old man speak, Masaru would have to fight to keep his composure. The way he mentioned a Society spoke to Masaru, he heard of a Society before. Nozomi Himitsu was from a Society, though she had come to Iwagakure's aid during the war before he fell to his illness, she stopped them from destroying Kariforunia Island. Why would they help Iwagakure, only to kidnap his cousin. Of course, it was possible that these societies were different, but he only knew of the one. His thoughts would be interrupted by the sound of cannon fire in the distant causing him to turn his head towards the sound, the old man would grab his arm and pleaded with him to protect his people to provide them with a future. These words would cause Masaru's composure to break, and a tear would roll down his cheek. "I give you my word, I will protect and provide for your people as if they were my people until my dying breath." With a small bow to the man Masaru would channel chakra through his body as he made himself weightless, there was no more time for questions. His people needed him. As the chakra flowed through him, Masaru's feet would lift from the ground and he would take off at 150m/s, now not accompanied by the man from before he would move much faster and be able to reach where the others were in a matter of a few seconds. Instead of flying down the tunnel, once outside the manor he would fly straight up through the hole that the manor had fallen through. Shouting to the people that were outside to get into the manor where it would be safer as he flew straight up and out of the hole. As soon as he was out in the open air, he would see the ships at the docks firing cannons at the city as its citizens began to run for safety in fear. Masaru's flew towards the docks determined to stop this assault, yelling out to both Kaeda and Isamu to get people to safety. The two were already doing that of course, but he yelled it anyway, they had fought enough and he was going to take it from there. Landing not far from docks Masaru would form a string of six hand seals in less than half a second, activating his Greater Earth Moving Core technique before slamming his palms into the ground at his feet cause 30 walls of stone to rise and quickly turn to steel blocking the city behind him from further bombardments of cannons. The ground at the bottom of the sea began to shift as the earth began to rise, the fleet of ships now on dry land as the water disbursed to make room for the new land mass beneath the ships. Masaru then formed three hand seals, the ground around the ships began to crack and split as molten rock and flame began to erupt across fifty meters in front of him. Small one meter sized diameter geysers of magma would erupt beneath each ship, destroying all the ships that the pirate crews were on in a matter of seconds. He would not waste time with dealing with any that were not killed instantly by the jutsu, his Efreet’s Awakening would last long enough to see them all meet the end Masaru felt they deserved, slow and painful. His eyes would narrow at the top of the tower as he turned towards its, it was time for him to end this man that controlled this. His skin would turn black with red lava like veins running through it as he took back into the air, he wasn't going to waste more time moving up through the tower he was going straight through the window at the top. Akira would continue helping Oda as they moved up through the remaining levels, Masaru however was heading straight for the ringleader of these pirates. His steel skin now covering his body would be more than enough to protect himself as he crashed through the top floor of the tower at rapid speed before coming to a stop in the middle of the room with both of his blades drawn.

Oda would take a moment to take a breath. His rage had carried him through so many floors but with only three left he had time to work out those aggravations. Lines of burned and stabbed pirates lined the halls of this tower now. His clothes stained with the blood and soot of those who had wronged the innocent. The smell of charred flesh filling the air. Still his pale eyes shifted to the window as they widened in surprise. Such a massive scale jutsu was the first of its kind he had witnessed personally. His methods were born of the sword and thus miniscule in comparison as entire ships would be heaved into the air and then turning to burning masses with all the pirates left on board left to suffer. It was a mesmerizing amount of death and destruction. Should its wrath be brought upon Iron....well he would face it but he wasn't as confident now. Still he would take a breath as he sensed the chakra burst in above him. Glass shattering and falling outside his own windows. He would sniff a moment before letting out a breath. The break was over. He had work to do.

"Come. We will keep the remaining pirates out of his way. There is punishment to be had today. Of fire, steel and blood."

With that the young looking man had recovered his breath in less than a minute. His own chakra still pumping strong as he sped up to the next floor. A commotion above had distracted that floor of pirates. In that moment Oda and Akira would press the advantage. A moments distraction in battle was foolish. First there were screams of pain soon followed by mass panic. Here the floors were more intact and thus they could inflict more damage. Blood sprayed the walls and windows while the commotion held the attention of all but the pirate lord. Oda pushed forward without concern for defense. Allowing himself to be cut and stabbed repeatedly as he simply walked through. His flaming Odachi slicing through anyone who remained to close as they fled to the next floor. Only to be cut down by their captains as cowards. Though they too felt the heat from above as below. A painful death was closing in on them and there was no where to go. No where to escape to. Only one man remained confident in the face of all of it.

Out front the two would find their enemies had been wiped out with shock and awe tactics. Their work was solely on defending against what cannon shots had gotten off while the crew that had engaged them had fallen to their wounds or drowned where they fought. Soon a silence fell over the settlement. Only the sounds of distant fires remained. The people gathered in the streets. Shielding their eyes as they strained to look upwards. Strained to see a glimmer of hope once more. They had forgotten what it was to hope. To look forward to a new day. Now they felt their hearts ache as they watched unable to see more than flashes of fire so far away. Silent in their desire for a better life. One young man would step forward. No older than fifteen as the would cup his hands around his mouth. Trying to shout with all his might as tears streamed down his face.

"You can do it! Save us please! We believe! We believe!"

A chant would rise from the entire clan as they shouted they believed. While an enraged Masaru now stood in what was once his cousins office. Still mostly intact and lavish. Sitting behind the desk with his feet up was the man he was there to see. Orgomu Bloodthirst was a renowned pirate that many shinobi had attempted to collect the bounty on. Many who had died. Next to him on the desk was a small golden orb with strange symbols and puzzles on it he had been studying even up to that moment. He himself was in clean and pressed blue naval dress of an officer while a single cutlass sat to his side. His speed and coordination a match for even Masaru. However he would raise an eyebrow before sighing and collecting his sword. Slowly rising to his feet as he looked younger than one might expect. Dark hair hanging loosely around his face. The item he held was valuable to him. More so than this floating mass anyway. Instead he would set the orb down and step around the desk. Watching for an attack and ready to defend or charge as needed. An irritated appearance on his furrowed brow.

"An ex Kage just for me? How flattering. However I don't have you on the books for an appointment. Guess that means I gotta send you back out the way you came...en guard."

Masaru would waste little time once he entered the office space, dropping the ultra-added light weight rock technique and getting into his kenjutsu fighting stance, Guren. This style of fighting would allow him to continue to move with the same coordination as the technique he ended but without the boost to his speed or the lowering of his strength, in such an enclosed space such speed would not be necessary, but his strength would. He could feel the chakra of Oda and Akira growing ever closer, the pair making quick work of the lower thugs beyond the door to this office. He wanted to end the man before the others arrived, to kill this man and be done with all of the oppression that has been placed upon the people of this city. Masaru respected the samurai, studying their traditions and teachings, doing his best to live by the same code of honor that they held. He was not a samurai however, and his fighting stance would go to show just that. The two blades Masaru held in his hands would each be held in a reverse grip with the back of the blade running along his forearm, his knees bent putting his center of gravity low as he activated his impervious exo-skeleton technique the function of the technique boosting his strength far beyond his normal means. "You have overstayed your welcome here, I have come to send you along your way into the afterlife." Masaru replied to the man's remark as he began flowing chakra into both of his blades with the chakra flow technique, he would be taking no chances here. "It's time to end this," Masaru shouted before dashing forward and moving to strike the man with Devorakos within his right hand first. If the strike hit, it would not only deal damage but drain the man of a small amount of chakra with each strike from it, even if he was not cut by the blade, if he made any contact with it the drain would happen. Masaru just needed to ensure that he hit, of course whether or not it hit that was not the only attack coming for the man. With his left-hand Masaru would shift his grip on Korinar, bringing the blade down upon the pirate king. Even if the other man managed to block the first attack, blocking this strike would not be so easily accomplished. With Masaru's increased strength behind the strike Korinar can cut through all but the strongest of blades, anything A-Rank or lower was simply incapable of withstanding such a strike from the blade.

    Arrival Empty Re: Arrival

Post by Oda Tue Jan 24, 2023 12:55 am

The pirate lord would glance at the fighting stance before his eyes shifted to his opponent. It was a Kage level opponent which meant letting him get too close was a fools errand. He had some ranged suiton abilities but....He would listen at the threat to his life....A nervous expression on his face as his eyes focused on his opponent. He was fast enough to evade some attacks. If he kept distance he could wear his enemy down until he couldn't move well. However the banter was short lived. Masaru had said what he was compelled to and held no interest in a response. He was the messenger of death.

The pirate lord would barely have time to raise his blade to block the first strike before noticing the drain on his chakra. So even if he could defend in close quarters it would cost him more and more as it would drag on. However he would grit his teeth as his eyes saw the second attack. Swinging at his exposed flank as he had blocked the first one. However even as it would appear to hit there would be a puff of smoke as he cut through the desk clean through. The golden orb caught in his hand as he saved it specifically from hitting the floor rather than anything else on the desk. His eyes focused on Masaru. That would have been the end of him if he hadn't prepared counter measures in the event of a fight. If nothing else he was superior in speed to anyone he had ever met. With an S rank speed stat he could sit out of reach....if he just could make this fight last....

Outside many of the civilians had handled damage control and tended to the injured. However the majority of the clan gathered around the tower. Staying no less than down the street from it by half a block. If anything fell from above they should be safe at that distance. Or at least that was the uneducated assumption. They would gather and hold their loved ones close. Friends clasping hands as they stared at what they had no chance to actually see. Waiting for a sign of some sort. Waiting for freedom from tyranny.

The enemy stood in the path. Oda hadn't expected them to fall into a defensive posture with the attack happening upstairs. Still he could sense the two fighting above now. They were fast. However he knew Masaru's signature...he was powerful but by the way it seemed...the other man was slightly faster. The floor between the two was thick but....not too thick. Oda had a plan.

"Go for dealing out damage to them and do not worry for me. They are incapable of killing me. Take them down while I give lord Masaru an advantage."

One of the men smirked at Oda's claim. Incapable of killing the boy barely old enough to be considered a man? Hubris. They would watch as oda charged forward recklessly. The normal pirates surprised and with a swipe of his sword knocked to the side. His blade cutting through their defenses and lighting some of them ablaze while the others flinched back. However Oda continued to charge to one side of the room. The captains who served directly under the pirate lord followed. Four blades running him through from all four sides as they seemed certain of their victory. Oda would cough out blood as his head fell. They would grin again as they chuckled wryly. Having believed him dead. However Oda would grin and lift his head again. Staring eye to eye with the one directly in front of him as he grabbed him by the beard and pulled him down.

    "I thought I told you....You can't kill me!"

With that Oda would flick his long Odachi up and push off with his feet. Knocking the captains off guard as the swords were pulled from him. His jump traveling upwards as he shifted his grip. His right hand gripping at the very base of his long hilt while his left hand shoved up from the pommel. Crashing into the ceiling and driving the long blade through. Even punching the hilts into the ceiling too for the extra bit of reach. His blade cutting through the floor directly under the pirate lords foot. Driving through as he looked down and screamed in pain. However he knew the distraction would be fatal. Looking up to see if Masaru was coming. Too late with the wound to his foot to escape. His eyes wide with fear as he faced his own mortality.

Akira would unleash a volley of his Dragonfly Swarm at the pirates as he charged behind Oda, using the katana to slice down those that didn't move after Oda. Watching in shock as Oda was Pierced by the four captains that had followed him, moving forward to strike them down as he saw Oda's head lift back up, now knowing the man wasn't dead. As Oda leapt into the air Akira would be there to strike down the four remaining captains, before turning around to see Kaede and Isamu. With the pirate attack outside having been ended by Masaru the two had begun making their way up the tower to assist, however it would seem they arrived too late as the job was already done.

On the floor above, Masaru would grit his teeth as he sees the desk replace the man he meant to kill. The pirate lord standing beyond the reach of his blade, his eyes would briefly fall to the golden orb in the man's hand before he continued his assault forward at the man. His Guren style of combat meant to be chaotic and unpredictable as he moved, his attacks wild with rage but the scum of a pirate would remain out of his reach each time letting neither of Masaru's blades find their mark. It was clear that the other man was faster than Masaru, but blinded by his rage Masaru would not stop in his assault. He knew if something did not change the pirate would be able to tire him out just by avoiding his mad swings, then as if an answer came from above, or rather below, the other man's movements would stop. A scream of pain escaping the other man's lips as the man looked down and that was the man's end. In that split second of the other man's focus removed from him, Masaru would close the small distance the other man had been keeping away from him. Flipping Devorakos from the reverse-grip to standard-grip as he drove the blade straight through the other man's heart, his other hand still holding Korinar in a reverse grip rising in that same movement as the blade would slice clean through the other man's neck decapitating him in one fluid motion.

Masaru removed his blade from the headless body of the Pirate Lord, giving both his blades a good flick to get the blood off of them before returning them to their sheaths. Looking to the hand of the Pirate Lord, Masaru would grab the small orb that had rolled to the destroyed desk when he had fallen from the man's limp hand when he had died. Examining it and wondering why the man saved it but let the rest of the things get destroyed, though it didn't look that special to Masaru he would hold onto it just out of curiousity as he grabbed the hair of the Pirate Lord. Lifting the head from the ground, Masaru would end his other techniques and once again activate his Ultra added light weight rock technique. His sensory could feel Oda and the other's below and no one else so he knew they had the building clear, his feet slowly rising from the floor Masaru would exit the building through the same hole in the window he had made upon his entry. Holding the Pirate Lords head by the man's hair in one hand and the golden orb in the other as he lowered himself to the ground below to wait for the others to make their way down.

Post by Oda Fri Feb 03, 2023 9:28 pm

The man fighting Masaru knew the moment he looked away he was screwed. His eyes shifted back just in time to see Masaru flash up to him in a blur of movement. It was too late to escape. His injured foot and leg were pinned anyway so he couldn't move in any direction fast enough. He tried to raise his hand in an attempt t block but came up short. In an instant his heart was pierce and his head removed. Blood would spray across the walls and ceiling. Dripping through to the floor below as the headless body would drop to its knees and fall over. The orb in his cupped hand rolling free until Masaru collected it. In a moment it was over and if anyone blinked they would miss it. All of the pirates were dead and their ships sunk. As Masaru would collect the orb it would click a couple of times before shifting once. Seaming to lock under his touch. An oddity but something the man had coveted as much as his own lift. It must be important. Still there were more immediate things to address. Which would be signified by Masaru floating as if he were jesus down to the masses below.

As the others who had accompanied Masaru and Oda entered the room all the enemies where dead. Oda stood next to where blood was dripping down from below. Looking over his blood soaked robes with a look of misery. He was going to need to buy new clothes again. A hazard for whenever he went into battle. Still the smell of fire and ashes filled his senses and he didn't want to remain among the corpses much long. A glance outside as his sensory pinged Masaru would be moving was enough to ascertain the man was floating to the ground below. Oda would grin as he flicked his sword clean before sheathing the massive Odachi. With a cheeky glance to the others before speaking. "Looks like I'll be taking the express way. I wouldn't follow." With that he walked calmly out the window. Simply stepping off into thin air. His form plummeting to the grounds below, Likely landing around the same time as Masaru. Or rather crashing into the ground and sending up an eruption of dust. A moment would pass and Oda would be seen where he should be dead. Brushing himself off before stepping forward.

People would gather around. Scared eyes looking to see how it had ended. If the shinobi failed here they would be punished...but if they succeeded what was next? News had already spread that their leader and elder had passed. A lone little girl sat by his bed weeping as she found herself all alone in the world at an early age. An orphan with no one left and no idea what to do with her life. Or who to turn to. The rest however had gathered in mass. Some bearing makeshift weapons to try and fight too if needed. But all were scared. Masaru would land and Oda would join him before the people would whisper a bit before going quiet. A firm looking woman well into her fifties would step forward. Standing proud and making eye contact with Masaru. She was brave and willing to stand up for her people. She would take on the temporary place of leadership as she spoke.

"You did it....you freed us. I have to ask though...now what? You will leave us and the next opportunist will come. Things that shine often fade so easily. So what do you say we do now? That orb was brought here by a man in a robe that resembles the society....Openly giving the orb to the pirate lord. They at the very least will come looking for answers."

Kaede and Isamu would look on in shock at the samurai stepping out of the window and plummeting down, Akira would simply state that the man was tougher than he looked before heading down the stairway as the others moved to follow him and he told them all about the climb up the tower and the marvel he witnessed in the man's healing abilities. On the ground the sudden crashing impact and the thick cloud of dust that accompanied it would cause Masaru to look behind him, seeing Oda he would let out a small chuckle. "Well that's one way to make an entrance," Masaru said jokingly to Oda before the woman stepped forward. A small comforting smile would appear on Masaru's face at the woman's words, as he stepped forward to address the gathered crowd.

"I came here with a simple goal, to find what happened to my cousin and the men responsible for the attack of this city as well as my cousin's disappearance. What I have found here was not at all what I expected, but I did find the answers that I was looking for." Masaru would pause for a second as he scanned the faces in the crowd, "I spoke to your leader before his passing. There was only one thing he asked of me, and I gave him my word that I would see it done. I will not leave you; I told your leader that I would look after you as if you were my own people, and I plan to honor that promise. Now where is Rose?" Masaru would wait after he asked the question for either someone to tell him where she was so that he could go get her or for someone to bring her out to him. Speaking to everyone that was around him, as he picked Rose up into his arms. "You will all be welcomed and protected by Iwagakure and my people, I can send my men for boats to transport us all, though it would mean abandoning your homes here. If there was a way to move the city as it was when my cousin built it, we could simply move it to the coast of Tsuchi no Kuni and you could remain here in the city and under the protection of the village and we could help in rebuilding your once great home. Barring that however, We can build you new homes within the land, if you are willing to accept my offer. I do not wish to be your dictator or a new warlord that you must serve, I make this offer because I wish to help you all, but the choice of what comes next must come from you."

The woman would hesitate. They were offered something. A solution. Even now he appeared to be the hero. The orphaned girl in the crook of his arm so soon after losing her last relative. He was the picture of a warrior king come to save them. They would be foolish not to accept this offer of his. However she needed to see beyond the base promise. Her people desired freedom and she must find that for them. Her hands trembled slightly as she fought against the maddening temptation to just accept the offer. To find safety at whatever the cost... But he did seem like a good man. He seemed genuine in his rage and his honor equally. The solution to getting to Iwa was already there and she knew it. However if she revealed it than it could be all over for all of them. Men coveted power and they had something that couldn't be found anywhere else in the world. She would take a breath and steady herself. Determination in her eyes. She would straighten herself a moment before she would speak in return. Hope in her voice.

"You said you won't be a new dictator. If we can settle along the coast and be under the protection of your village...we will still want our freedom. Not beholden to your village for its support. No debt owed that can not be repaid. That said we need not leave our home....it can come with us....we just needed somewhere to go. What I am about to show you is our secret. Our ability we will not be enslaved for."

She would focus a little bit. Reaching into her pocket to pull out a small knife. Barely useful for self defense. She would lift it as shifting black ink spread from her eyes as some unreadable seals. Spreading across her face as the blade would slowly begin to fall. She had turned her hand and released the blade. It shifted as if sinking through water instead of air. Her hand shifted over it and the blade would stop falling. Motionless in front of her. Weightless.

"We have been granted the ability to increase and decrease gravity as this market once did. It won't be stable for long but the city can be made to fly again. However I will repeat...we must be allowed to go where we please without limitations. If we accept your protection we must still be a free people."

Masaru would watch in astonishment at the woman's manipulation of the knife, suddenly the words the old man had spoken made more sense to him. The man had told them they could move to Iwa's coast he had assumed that he simply meant his people, but as the woman spoke it became clear that the old man spoke of the clan moving the entire floating town with them. Masaru would smile as he sat Rose back down on the ground and looked towards the woman, he could understand her reluctance to show such a power. He knew all too well that power like that is not without its own desire, there were plenty of people out there who would do anything to obtain it. He was not one of those people, Masaru had no desire to take what belonged to this clan nor would he allow anyone else to take advantage of them or it.

"I give you my word that you and your people will be free, free to chose where you wish to go and do what you wish to do. I wish only to see that you are able to rebuild your home, that you and your people have a safe place to live and that your children have a future to look forward to. I also give you my word that Iwagakure will not be helping you in expectance for a repayment of a debt from your clan, we will be helping you because that is the right thing to do. We will help you rebuild, ensure that you can provide food and shelter for yourself and help you until you are able to, we will provide you with any protection we can against those that would wish you harm and we will allow everyone their freedom to do as they please with no exceptions or expectation that you will one day return the favor or do something for us. That is what Iwagakure stands for, and I will do everything in my power to ensure that someone like this pirate lord and the society never harm anyone here ever again."
