Finishing the jumpsuit Ryuko picked it up and carefully carried the items she had crafted so far over to a mannequin that had been placed in a corner of the room. Before she delivered her package to Tsumi she wanted to inspect it one last time to make sure that everything was just right. Dressing the mannequin with the jump suit, boots, helm, gauntlet and belt she took a step back to admire her work.
Overall she had made a hero suit of the highest quality out of the finest material. It was so superb that it brought a tear to her eye. This was top of the line stuff that you couldn’t find in just any store, the kind of equipment that might cost a small fortune to have custom made for you. The only way to top that would be to get a legendary X-class item like her spear and shield but those were legendary for a reason because they were so extraordinarily rare. The fact Ryuko held two of such items was highly unusual.
She would have liked to equip her student Tsumi with something that good as well but sadly she lacked the skills to make such a transcendent master craft so this would have to do. Still even S-rank equipment was pretty rare in of itself so he would be better off then the vast majority of ninja who had to slumb it with store bought C-rank equipment. Those kinds of things were cheap and could get the job done if you were up against the rank and file but Ryuko herself only used them when she needed something disposable. If she threw say a C-rank Kunai and couldn’t get it back at the end of the mission it wasn’t a big deal precisely because it was so cheap to replace.
With the set complete she felt like a giant weight had been lifted from her shoulders. With this Tsumi was as set for armor as he possibly could be should the worst happen to her. Well, he’d still need a non lethal weapon of some kind like a staff like she’d suggested but making those was outside her area of expertise so he’d have to settle for buying one using some of the money she’d leave him in her will.
Of course hopefully it wouldn’t come to that. With any luck she’d actually get the chance to see him in the armor she’d made for him should he ever wake up. Then again, part of the reason she was taking the risk of doing this risky trial was that unlocking the full power of Rafaela might give her the chance to cure Tsumi of his coma. It was a long shot at best but it was the only sliver of hope she had left to cling to.
She wasn’t even 30 yet and had the potential to live for centuries but already she’d lost so many people close to her. She knew that if she didn’t die in battle there was a good chance she might see her students pass before her but she’d been hoping that would only happen after they too had lived a full life. She wanted him to stay with her as long as possible, not pass away when he was still so young that he hadn’t even hit his prime. His best years should still be ahead of him, not spend wasting away in a hospital bed.
Now all she had to do was deliver the items to him and the hospital and most of her unfinished business would be complete. The only problem was that she still had some time left between now and the surgery she had scheduled with Renny. The last piece of the puzzle she needed to be completely ready for her trial. Since she had some time to kill she decided it was best to keep crafting a little more.
She had met a man, well more of a boy really the other day who had introduced himself as Herlock. She’d invited him to try out for a slot on her team but the reality was she might not be around much longer to teach him. Still it wasn’t like there was nothing she could do for him. He seemed to style himself as a private eye of sorts so what better gift could she give him then some classic detective gear.
It wouldn’t be as comprehensive as the stuff she’d build for Tsumi but any S-rank gear was better than no s-rank gear, besides she had just enough material leftover from her last project to make what she had in mind. First she would begin with crafting a Deerstalker, the famous kind of hat that everyone knew from the classic Sherlock Holmes.
