Mission Name: Clean up the Graffiti
    Mission Type: Chore
    Mission Rank: D
Mission Goal: Clean up the Graffiti for three different shops
Description: A group of juvenile delinquents have been going around at night tagging various shops with graffiti. The owners of these shops are getting fed up having to clean it up themselves so they are looking to hire someone to do it for them. Go around the market district cleaning the graffiti off of three different shops. Cleaning items will be supplied.
    Payment: 10,000 Ryo
    Requirements: Genin +
    -
Another day another mission and Valen was doing more genin work. Honestly these missions seemed like a waste of his capabilities in his eyes. He was a combat shinobi, capable of fighting with a ferocity and determination that few could match. He was a capable fire ninjutsu user, one of the best, if not the best, in the village. Arguably the single best swordsman in the village, but he was still a genin because he lacked the necessary leadership experience for him to progress. So here he was, again in charge of another D rank mission. This one was even more of a chore than anything else. They were tasked with cleaning up the graffiti those delinquents had been leaving all over the place. Which was simple enough, but still annoying. Still, it had to get done and he had been assigned to it. So it would get done.

Today he wore his ever present sword and headband. However he didn’t bother wearing his usual compression shirt and cloak. They would probably get unnecessarily wet if he wore them. He did wear his shinobi pants and boots though. He had already gathered the necessary cleaning supplies and was simply waiting for his mission partner to arrive before getting started. The shops lining the street before him were covered in graffiti art, some looked interesting, most looked like shit. He was leaning against a wall on one of the buildings for his mission partner to arrive, arms crossed, expression seemingly bored.

Takara could feel the frustration from Valen as he was assigned yet another D-Ranked mission, knowing that his capabilities were being wasted as well. It was a rare moment to see the man’s emotions, even if they were negative, and gave her a bit of insight as well; he wasn’t nearly as emotionally mute as she had been led to believe but he definitely didn’t express them often. Still, as stalwart as ever, if Valen was given a task, it would get done, no questions asked. Hoping that her familiar presence would make the work a little more bearable, she had signed up for the same one right after him, and then followed him down to the market, noting that he picked up the cleaning supplies on the way. Wanting to find a way to brighten his mood and thinking of a clever way of doing so, she waited until he came to a stop before she addressed him directly.

“I know a way we can turn this into training…” she started, hoping to catch his interest. “A test of control; you have to burn off the graffiti without doing any damage to the structure instead of using typical cleaning supplies. Don’t worry about it being a little burnt… I can wash that away as we go.” Anything that made better use of his time would likely be something that he accepted and hopefully would bring a bit more positive energy to his aura; she had been around him enough at this point she was starting to pick up on the fine details of his energy through subtle body language and other hints, and it was giving her further insight into the man beyond the surface level… finally.

He would listen to her suggestion before shrugging. It was similar to something he had practiced for the purpose of removing his queen's ice gowns quickly. It shouldn’t be any more difficult to use here. “I already have a technique like that. I use it to burn away clothing when neither myself or my partner want to wait.” He would say idly, the term partner didn’t point to any one individual and it wouldn’t. Because Valen didn’t restrain himself to one woman. His Queen had opened his eyes to a world of pleasure but he wasn’t silly enough to think she was only enjoying his company. So he enjoyed the company of others as well. Simple enough. Still the premise of the technique was simple enough. He used his fire chakra to create what was effectively a fire wave that enclosed the object or individual. He always started at the bottom of the body with it, and let it work up. He also always stopped it at the shoulder level. Lest it remove the hair from someone’s head. It didn’t matter if someone had long hair before the fire wave didn’t touch it there and would be stopped before hitting the roots of the hair upon the individuals head. The clothing on the body however tended to be incinerated immediately. As did any excess hair.

You know he could really make a killing giving waxes now that he thought about it.

Moving toward the first wall quietly he would place a hand on the center of the graffiti on it and send the chakra into the wall, keeping it as close as possible. The paint was a new layer after all and shouldn’t be able to survive the heat while the wall would be perfectly fine. Especially since the actual power of the fire used was actually really low. He doubted it would catch wooden beams on fire. The small circular motion of fire would spread out and, catching the paint but not the wood, would burn the paint off. The smell of burnt paint would waft through the air and the genin would nod before moving toward the next piece of street art and continuing the process. All in all the mission was done in about fifteen minutes and the cleaning supplies weren’t even needed. He shrugged when they were finished and turned toward Takara. “Let’s go report in then.” He would say, nodding his head toward the mission report area.

Takara listened as Valen took the suggestion and ran with it, even going so far as to describe how he used the Jutsu he planned to burn away the graffitti with during his times he was with his partner. A small part of her thought it was an awful waste of clothing having it get burnt away like that, but a much larger part of her, as much as she hated to admit it, couldn’t help but visualize what that would look like if she was that partner. And because her mind was so sharp, the imagination ran wild with it for just a few seconds, and it was almost like the woman before Valen just stopped operating for a moment as it ran wild for a moment before she was able to reign it in. Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly to calm herself, the dark-skinned Genin took one more moment to get herself together before moving behind Valen as he started to work, taking some moisture from the air into her hands and washing over the parts that he burnt off, leaving nothing behind but a clean wall. It was very nice that they were able to do this as a method of training and get the mission done just as quickly without the need to waste cleaning supplies.

As they finished, Takara took a moment to gather the cleaning supplies and everything they needed to take back, nodding as he said it was time for them to head back and report in. Unlike usual though, she was not walking directly beside him this time, but a couple of paces behind the swordsman, and walking almost on auto-pilot, using her peripheral vision to keep on track and follow in his footsteps while she contemplated things in her mind. The water-weilder was obviously attracted to him, but the complicated nature of how he approached relationships versus what she wanted in a relationship was difficult to unravel. She would have to do some further research into how to make it work, because she was not about to give up on something that she could tell she wanted. It was nothing more than a puzzle, an equation, she just needed to sort out the variables and she might be able to gain a favorable end result. Making a mental note to hit the library on the way home to check out some books on different types of relationships and how to make them work, she almost regretted losing the valuable study time into her medical practices… but… this was important to her, so it took a bit of priority, if only for tonight.
