Cleaning the Shop [D-Rank] Empty Cleaning the Shop [D-Rank]

    Cleaning the Shop:

The broom in hand made another sweep motion, his hands barely having any feeling remaining in them at this point. How long had he been here? It felt like Shin had been sweeping glass off the floor for ages, yet perhaps it had only been twenty minutes at most. His boots had already crunched some of the larger pieces, not on accident but the journey to the broom closet had involved trekking over some of the broken glass from the windows. The crushed glass pieces were far more annoying to sweep Shin quickly found out; having helped clean out his own home he thought he would be fine with the task of sweeping. Yet, here he was already annoyed by today’s job, yet at the same time he could deal with it, he supposed. It would take some mental fortitude for him to just stay calm, but the frustration that came with sweeping up every little piece of glass seemed near impossible.

“I swear this seems like your work Katsumi. You sure you weren’t part of the crew that was stealing from here?” He asked just loud enough for his words to be carried through the shop. Regardless of if he would receive an answer or not, Shin would stop his sweeping temporarily and leaned against the wall taking a glance of the shop they were tasked with cleaning up. The shop that happened to be robbed happened to be a convenience store. He supposed it made sense to rob a place with less security, compared to say a jeweler’s shop, yet the potential profit that they were seeking out was minimal; they’d likely make more money helping out with this clean up than robbing the place. “If you wanted to rob a place, couldn’t you have at least picked a shop that was easier to clean up?”

"If I had decided to join a group of criminals, why would I be here still working these missions for nothing? Besides, this is small-time, my skills would require a much bigger target..." Katsumi would chuckle a bit as he used leather gloves to pull the broken shards of glass from the window so that a new one could be installed in place of the old broken glass. One large shard seemed awfully difficult to pull up from the sill of the window before it came up with quite a bit of force in one piece and Katsumi would add it to his small pile of larger glass shards.

A small sigh as looked around at the shop, probably coming to the same conclusion as Shin about how this shop was so not worth stealing from and even more importantly, why they had to make such a mess of everything in the process. Definitely not ninja though. A real ninja wouldn't have left much of a trace outside the missing items. So just normal run of the mill citizens that were probably down on hard times. As Shin made his request to pick a target that would be easier to clean up, Katsumi would smirk and begin to walk the remains of the glass pane back to their bag to contain all the trash around the shop. "Yeah, I'll keep it mind next time the boys decide to break in somewhere..." he would mock backwards with plenty of sarcastic overtones as he returned to the work, shaking his head a bit at the commentary.

“Well, your skill are more suited… to doing menial things like this than anything else.” Shin would respond to the comment Katsumi made about his own skillset; it was all in jest, a knowing understanding between the two, but something that would likely continue as time went. While Katsumi was busy picking up a piece of glass with his gloves, Shin would continue to sweep the broom he had in hand. It simply made no sense for someone to rob a convenience store when there were more valuable areas one could potentially loot. Even though it went against Shin’s own morals, it simply did not make sense in the grand scheme of things. If they wanted food, perhaps the market was a better option, seeing as the selection here wasn’t as… healthy as the stores in the marketplace. “Well, try it with creating less of a mess. You don’t want to get caught, do you? Perhaps then we wouldn’t be here cleaning up a shop.” Again the made-up narrative would continue, with Shin more focused on cleaning up than anything else.

“Let’s just get this cleaned up sooner rather than later. Honestly, shouldn’t take us too long if we actually… work.” The emphasis on work was due to Shin’s disposition to the work they had been doing for the village thus far. All menial things, that ultimately, did not really seem that beneficial to them personally in the long run… aside from the discipline and patience that was required during these times. Shin would continue cleaning, forgoing the more entertaining option of continuing the conversation with Katsumi about hypothetical robberies. Time would tick by and the store would gradually get cleaner, until the owner returned to a, mostly, spotless store.

Katsumi would be immediately struck with frustration as the veins on his forehead would begin to pop, "Menial?!" his teeth would nearly grit along with the sound of sliding glass along the floor against the bristles of the broom. A sudden stop as Katsumi would slowly roll his eyes and face towards Shin, hoping he would take note of his immediate frustration. Shin would seem more focused on cleaning for the moment and Katsumi would try to interrupt again, "Remember how I said to be careful because even the Buddha loses patience when insulted a third time?!" Katsumi's voice would come in a bit elevated, fairly serious, but also playfully angry.

"You're lucky this shop is already torn to shreds or else it'd be in trouble of being even more broken!" Katsumi would offer a raised fist to his comrade, almost a taunt to try him even further but then, nothing would happen and a note to just get their work done would settle in. Katsumi would sigh heavily and offer a final, 'fine' as he shook his head and went back to cleaning everything up. Eventually, they would finish cleaning up the shop top to bottom and have the glass window pane ready to be replaced. When their work was done, they would wrap everything up and report their mission completed, then it would be on to heading on their own ways.
