Hard Work (Towards Revenge)

Shimiko entered into the hallowed crafting chamber of the Queen. She was pissed off but she needed to translate that anger into action. She didn't want to destroy her best friend's signature weapon but she could always reforge it if need be and so for now she decided to craft it into something she could use. A tool that would avenge Damien and fulfill her Queen's last order.

Shimiko had finally completed her shards and was now ready for war. She sealed them inside of her custom melody arms, replacing the old needles as necessary to ensure there was adequate room. She then walked out.

Shimiko would return to craft something for one of Ryuko's students. The young man had wanted some trench knives and given the fact that he was to be one of Kumo's top protectors, she found it fitting that he wield the successor of one of Ryuko's personal tools. It brought a tear to her eye as it wasn't too long ago the two had reflected on how legendary weapons could be re-fashioned and passed down to the next generation. It was poetic and Shimiko had no idea how personal that talk would become. She got to work on Seraph’s Fangs aiming to work a steady pass for however long it took to get the weapons done.

Entering her workshop for the first time since she had returned from a place beyond an endless stretch of time and space. What she found when she got there was a sight that was enough for her face to instantly turn pale.

Lying on the table was the very shield in question and a memo detailing plans to break it down and reforge it into trench knives for her former student Tamwny. Covered in a thick layer of dusk she surmised that the project had been abandoned and forgotten only due to the Seraph’s untimely demise.

The queen was quite aghast at the idea that her sister was willing to desecrate her legacy like this. Perhaps it was nothing more than pointless vanity on her part but she’d wanted to leave something behind in the world that people would remember her for long after she was gone. What was King Arthor without excalibur after all?

It was extra silly on her part to feel this way since the only time she had used the shield in battle she had lost. That hardly made for a stellar track record of excellence. Still as long as it was a shield it could be used to protect the country just the way she had intended it to be used. She supposed knives could also be used, but those had a certain aggressiveness that a shield did not which meant they were more likely to lead to pointless conflicts as well.

She felt a flash of guilt for thinking that way however and couldn’t help but dwelling on what ifs. If the knives had been finished might Tamwyn have survived? That would have been a small price to pay for something as petty as her legend. After all he was supposed to be her legacy in a way as her successor. It was a futile line of thought, all the potential he had to bring to the world had been extinguished along with the flame of his life.

All she could do now was work to honor what he had stood for. To do that she needed this special piece of equipment back in her possession. Picking up the shield and strapping it to her left arm it shifted shape into it’s more compact travel mode. All that she could protect even just one more smile.
