Post by Hana Kaguya Fri Sep 18, 2020 9:03 am

    Appearance:

Windy and cold, Tetsumura was just as she remembered. Hana was familiar with cold climates. After all, being from Kirigakure has exposed her to a relatively cool temperature for most of the year. Summers had their heat waves, and winters were especially cold with occasional snow storms, though more frequent up north. The Land of Iron was an entirely different type of cold. The frequent gray skies and bone chills gave the nation an almost depressing vibe to it. But even the Land of Iron was not the harshest land inhabited by men. The Land of Frost just south of the Land of Lightning was perhaps the most unbearable. Nights were fatal to unwary travelers. Without adequate clothing and shelter the low pressure winds would freeze men to death. Winters generally forced people from avoiding the summit altogether. It is no surprise the natives choose to live around the lowlands.

Overall she couldn't complain. Her gear was sufficient to fight the cold. The hours she has been off the ship did the cold slowly begin to fight through her clothing, but all in all she was still "warm" and her core was doing just fine. Within her arms she cradled Kurosawa in its decorative wooden box, accompanied with a red ribbon which almost exactly looked like Christmas ribbons from last year, and a Hallmark™ apology card. Hana passed a glance over to Chigetsu with an empty expression suggesting to get serious. Ascending a few stone steps she approached the front doors of the manor being wary of any outside guards and their locations. Hana took additional measures to protect herself and Chigetsu from any potential ambushes or foul play by having her sensory technique enabled.

Standing before the doors she gave three consecutive knocks with the back of her knuckles to make her presence aware to whoever was present at the time. She would keep all of her senses on high alert seeing as she was quite unpopular in these parts.

    Appearance:

‘Get serious’ was the message, but serious meant a lot of different things. The last he could remember was the combat of the Chunin Exams. Fighting against Rini and Zeke in the finals, and then Inarie before that, and then Andariel before that… A tension wrapped over him, tightening his form into something that could perhaps pass for preparation. Those purple eyes would scan the periphery of their surroundings and then return to the center, focusing ahead on the task at hand.

Tensing up and focusing like this took his mind away from how absolutely freezing he was as well. Chigetsu wasn’t prepared for the cold. Those stockings and aesthetic schoolgirl look didn’t end up being very practical for protecting against the elements. Who would have guessed? Part of it was just that as a Hozuki Chigetsu was much more sensitive to changes in temperature than the normal human, but his complete ignorance had also done him in here. This was the first time he was leaving the village though, so perhaps that could be excused. The only safety he had was that mountain hoodie that he wore, which would be carefully zipped up to keep as much heat in as possible.

On high alert, Chigetsu would follow Hana’s lead, waiting for an answer to her knocking. Someone would surely have to greet them. Eventually.

Oda would be attending the manor himself for the time being. He was there negotiating a plot for his new clan compound in a way that would both compliment the village and his clan at the same time. He would be playing a game of go with Kiyoko as they took a break from reviewing maps and land laws for the time being. Oda was a young looking man. Perhaps not even fully an adult yet. At least in appearance he appeared to be around sixteen. The truth was he was a little over thirty. A side effect of his clans bloodline. The constant regeneration slowed the aging process. For the moment he was losing. Badly. He was skilled enough at the game not to be considered an amateur but Kiyoko was on another level. She had two thirds of the board and he was contemplating his next move.

Wild white hair hung around his head but his sideburns and eyebrows were black. His hair hanging around his head like a wild lions mane. As far as clothing went though he was rather well dressed. Black boots with high ankles were designed to keep water out. His pants were simple black ones but he was wearing greaves made of pure ebony. The black metal covering the top of his boots to his knee's. His shirt was a high and stiff collared one with long sleeves. colored black with two rows of brass buttons holding it together. Over his stomach was protected by an ebony breast plate and his forearms from his wrists to his elbows were protected by ebony as well. Though those were harder to notice since he was wearing a white long coat with his clans symbol on the back.

A knock on the door to the front would draw his attention as he smiled. Oh excellent. An excuse. He would pat his knee's before speaking. "One of us should get that I think." He would state. Collecting his very common looking Odachi from the ground next to him and sliding the strap over his shoulder to his waist. The Odachi barely shorter than he was. He would grin sheepishly before turning to move towards the entrance. Hana would notice the two chakra signatures significantly different than the others nearby. Oda himself was nearly on the same level as either of them with sheer chakra pressure but not close enough. He would blink and hesitate a moment when they finally got into his own chakra sensory range. Such strong energy from each of them. Well one could hope the two forces of nature were simply here to get out of the cold and remain peaceful. Oda would take a breath and steady his resolve. Walking the rest of the way to the front door to open it. As he got within ten meters though the air would seem to warm significantly. Snow melting from around the door step as it was almost like standing near a furnace.

Quietly Oda would answer his lords door and pearl white eyes barely different from the whites of his eyes and yet almost striking in nature would take the two...women probably? He assumed as much based on their appearance. Still the warmth was clearly coming off of him. An oddity in such a cold place in the world. He would nod his head as he opened the door fully. As if he didn't know a sense of caution or fear. He held himself differently from other Samurai they saw guarding the area. He looked to have better posture and poise. Clearly noble by birth. Or the clan equivalent. Speaking to them both in a friendly and calm tone.

"Oh my, we do have guests. I see neither of you are from around here. I'm honestly a little surprised one of you doesn't have frostbite. I will happily invite you inside soon regardless of your answer and serve tea, but I have to ask. Who are you and what brings you to my shoguns manor?"

Spirit of the Samurai Empty Re: Spirit of the Samurai

Post by Kiyoko Tue Sep 22, 2020 3:40 am

Kiyoko had been enjoying her time with Oda. Enjoying it in that she was making good on her promise to negotiate a new clan compound for the man’s people. In truth she enjoyed the work, it gave her a sense of purpose and was helping her to feel less guilty for her long absence from her homeland. The pair of Samurai were currently taking a break from their task and enjoying a game of go. It was going relatively well for her, truth be told though she was trying very, very hard. Since learning that her current opposition was older than her despite his young appearance she had been attempting to prove that she was worthy of the Clan Leader’s time. He was gracious and humble at all times that she had observed, and her goal was to return his consideration in kind.

Kiyoko sat with her elbows leaning heavily on her knees, her black kimono-esque outfit pooling around her as she studied the board. As always she had Redemption, her katana, tied to her side. She hardly ever put it down, it was the one thing that she had to remember her purpose and she was loath to part with it. Her dark hair was tied back in a high ponytail with long pieces hanging loosely in the front, currently partially obscuring her features as she leaned forward. Since spending time with Oda she’d needed less heavy clothing, and so her outfit could have led someone to assume it was mid summer, when snow continued to pile up outside.

Kiyoko’s hand would move instinctively to her sword as she heard the knock on the door. She didn’t quite get as far as to wrap her hand around it though as Oda patted his knees and stood to go answer it. She would nod as he retrieved his odachi and grin, meeting his grin with one of her own. “Someone should.” She rather liked the man, he was still a bit of a mystery to her, but there was a kindness beyond his stoicism that she could appreciate. She would take one last look at the board, shaking her head as she grinned at the land she held. Standing she would secure her sword one last time and walk after Oda. She could hear him speaking as she moved behind him a few feet and waited patiently for their ‘guests’ to reply. She couldn’t see much beyond Oda as she was shorter than he was, certainly shorter than him while he carried his odachi. What little she did see wiped any sort of friendliness from her face and her dark eyes would narrow. She recognized the typical rank and file shinobi gear and she was displeased. Shinobi was not who she would have expected to make their way to the manor, not smart ones anyway. The Shogun was more benevolent and tolerant of them than she was, but even he wasn’t known to enjoy their presence. With the fiery anger of retribution burning in her heart she would stand quietly and allow Oda to interrogate them. She knew that if she opened her mouth she was likely to say something that someone was going to take offence to.

Spirit of the Samurai Empty Re: Spirit of the Samurai

Post by Hana Kaguya Tue Sep 22, 2020 8:03 am

After her series of knocks there was a brief silence before a set of movement approach them from the inside of the manor. The chakra presence moving closer suggested there were two people, any elements and unique signatures being known to Hana for the time being, but likely forgotten over time without a memorable interaction. The door opened in full as a blast of warm air greeted the two standing outside as if Oda's radiating presence wasn't enough. It was all very welcoming as it melted whatever snowflakes clung to their clothing giving them a neater and less derelict appearance. The man seems cordial enough to ease up her tension around, but a bit surprised by Hana and Chigetsu's arrival. Oda was certainly a Samurai given the armor and weapon he carried. The Odachi was certainly a Samurai's tool of war, something Hana became familiar with when studying the Iaido and other Samurai practices.

The fragrance coming from within the manor was nothing short of a party. Expensive brewed tea ran through the warm hair being all the more alluring. The woman's chakra sensory dropped as she no longer detected any threat from those within the manor. "I am Hana Kaguya, Mizu- former Mizukage of Kirigakure no Sato. Next to me is Chigetsu Hozuki, my Jounin assistant. As representatives of the Water Empire we are here to return the legendary blade Kurosawa back to its rightful land." With a brief silence following due to poor execution she extended the decorative sword carrying case to Oda who stood the closest to them. No tricks, the inside of the case would contain Kurosawa in its crafted scabbard if they chose to open it then and there.

The red ribbon that was attached to the outside of the case almost gave it the appearance of a gift, but when coupled with the apology card the display would explain everything regarding her personal feelings about the situation. From what she learned in the treatises robbed from the Land of Iron, a Samurai's sword had significant value. It served as an extension of themselves and was hardened with the strength of their ancestors. Kurosawa in particular was passed down from Shogun to Shogun being the one of champions. Only a decorated warlord had the honor of using the blade in battle. In a sense she felt less guilty knowing that under Kirigakure's ownership the blade never saw battle and remained at her hip for the most part. So in short, Kirigakure didn't completely mock their culture.

Post by Chigetsu Wed Sep 23, 2020 2:19 pm

The man who answered the door was a marvel. Chigetsu had never seen a samurai before, so truthfully he hadn’t known what to expect. There were images in his mind from story books and illustrated pictures he had seen as a child, but really he hadn’t expected that reality would be so close to those fuzzy memories he had made in his youth. The warmth that seemed to radiate off this man immediately swept the cold away from Chigetsu, leaving him without the earlier chills that had ravaged his poor liquid body. It almost made the man seem as though he had a glow of light surrounding him, like some sort of angelic halo, but that was just a figment of Chigetsu’s imagination that came from Oda’s sudden presence.

Taken a bit off guard, Chigetsu could only stare, his purple eyes wide in awe. Immediately he was struck by a sense of child-like wonder at the scene that was unfolding before them despite being so tense and nervous just moments before. Just glimpses of the interior of the manor made it feel familiar, not being all too dissimilar in luxury from what he was used to at the Hozuki Clan complex.

I… I’m Chigetsu.” He took a moment to collect his mental bearings, a bit dazed all of the sudden by the strength of the impression that this samurai left. The introduction came after Hana had already done so, making it pointless. Similarly he didn’t have the state of mind to correct her in saying that he was only a Chunin, and still not a Jonin. Not like it really mattered anyway. Without knowing exactly what to say after that, awkwardness swelling, the young male would bow his head towards the Samurai in a hasty display of respect.

"I… Uh…” He would stammer for a moment, looking back and forth between the samurai and Hana. “Please forgive me, but…” Turning back, he would glance to the path behind them, he set his glance in that direction.

There’s something I need to take care of really quickly… Back on the ship.” A certain tenseness had risen through his form. It seemed that the sudden heat aura from the man had provoked a strange reaction of rushing fluids within the male’s liquid body. Suddenly he found himself having an extremely powerful need to urinate.

I’llberightback-” He said as quickly as possible, already beginning to sweat at the situation unfolding at hand, before forming a single hand seal and body-flickering as fast as he could back from where he had came. Chigetsu needed to go somewhere private as fast as possible in order to relieve himself.

Oda would blink as he saw the weapon being ceremoniously handled. His eyes widened at the marvel of it. Of course he had read stories of it but he had never before seen it in person. Nor had he dreamed he ever would. It seemed to match the depictions of it in any art piece he had ever seen involving it entirely. It was a marvel to behold and for the moment he forgot the super powered heavily armed people in front of him. A part of him wished to reach out and touch it. To hold it in his hands and feel the weight and power of it. He could feel the draw of power threatening to suck him in. He could be so much more with such a weapon in his hands. He could ensure his clans safety and defeat all his enemies in one stroke. Such a weapon made rulers into ultimate power. Kiri was famous for having seven such weapons but Iron needed this. He felt himself swallow at the presence of such possibilities. Drawing him to a darker part of himself but after a moment he would turn his head to glance back at his friend.

His pearl white eyes would look to her and see the hate in her eyes burning. She hated shinobi much like how the shogun himself did. She had lost a great deal from them and seen atrocities. If such relations were to be remade in a positive light he needed to see if she could get passed her hate for the good of the nation. If she could not then surely the shogun would not either. A cycle of hate and death would follow and there would be no one winning from such a useless fight. Immediately his own desires were forgotten as he turned back to them and bowed his head in return. Showing the respect equal to what they had shown them. His voice was as calm and collected as his eyes. Which looked as if they could hide no secrets.

"We welcome you of course. I am Lord Hinode Oda. However I am merely a head of a clan within these lands. Such a gift should be accepted by someone of higher standing than myself. As it so happens, Lady Kiyoko is the diplomat for our lands. I will leave it to her to accept this."

With that Oda would step to the side and smile to Kiyoko encouragingly. If there was to be a hope of there to be prosperity between the shinobi and the samurai it had to begin somewhere. He had high hopes it would be with her. If she would accept something that was lost to Iron as she was, to have a treasure returned to her she may calm down her inner rage a small amount. He hoped at least enough to offer them tea.

Spirit of the Samurai Empty Re: Spirit of the Samurai

Post by Uchiha Akihiro Wed Sep 23, 2020 7:41 pm

The wind blew over the mountains of the Land of Iron, carrying with it the cold bite of thin air. Akihiro for one was glad that his usual attire already included a cloak and enough gear to protect himself from the climate. He would worry about Ikomiki however, considering hers wasn't the same type of outfit. Perhaps he could've warned her about this before they came but in his defence, he didn't know where they would be going. This was a rare occasion that had never before happened: Akihiro using Flying Thunder God to teleport somewhere he didn't know. But alas, he and Hana had gone through thick and thin and he trusted her this much. She was of vital importance for the revival and revitalization of Kirigakure no Sato.

Surely people would be surprised when Akihiro and Ikomiki materialized behind Hana, as if they'd simply created themselves from thin air. No explanation would be given for this as he liked to keep his techniques secret. But it was important to note that despite having his Sharingan active and the sensory technique as well, Akihiro wasn't here to start any type of hostilities. The reason for such precautions was the fact that he was facing an unknown environment and as much as he trusted Hana, one could never be too safe in this ninja world.

"Hana." He would state in a calm manner, announcing his presence. He wasn't particularly trying to be silent with his approach but such was the nature of the technique he used. There was always a risk of spooking her and getting punched in the face like Kimi did to him, but he was certain Hana had enough experience as a shinobi to be able to control her reactions. "I'm here as requested, and I've brought a friend with me. Shall we go?"

He would glance at Oda and Kiyoko, unaware of who they were but nodding in acknowledgement of their presence. He could understand how others could be spooked at the notion of having people simply materialize in their homes, but Akihiro's attitude and voice implied he was not a threat to them and that he was here solely for the ex-Mizukage. If they considered Hana a non-hostile, they'd consider him one too.

Ikomiki would appear with Akihiro Uchiha, poofing out of nowhere while holding his hand. She still was adjusting to the Flying Thunder God technique, but she had dispelled all the nausea that she used to get from shifting back and forth like this with him. Of course, the next problem was that it was immediately freezing- Or at least it was supposed to be. There was snow absolutely everywhere, which made her immediately assume she was going to regret wearing this pretty dress and her stockings around everywhere. While very nice looking they weren’t exactly good for resisting the temperatures. They honestly weren’t very good for fighting in either. Mostly she just wore this outfit because she enjoyed being a pretty kitty. But for some reason she wasn’t cold at all. Oda’s aura caught her in it as she teleported with Aki, so the catgirl would be as warm as she had been in Konoha.

Her ears would swivel on her head, and her cat tail would swish back and forth curiously. Where were they? Why wasn't she freezing despite being surrounded in snow? Who were all these people? She kept a tight hold on Akihiro’s hold the entire time, almost acting like a meek child who was clinging to him for protection. Subtly she would shift a bit closer to him. Right now she didn't exactly have any agency, and was merely here in transit for whatever Akihiro's unknown plans were.

Post by Hana Kaguya Wed Sep 23, 2020 9:20 pm

It was hard to consider Hana punctual. Scheduling and time management generally fell out of her grasp with day to day life. Chigetsu blazed off for some apparent reason proving to be very unprofessional when given a real task. Even if that task to simply stand by her and remain quiet. But disregarding his odd behavior, that Hana was certain to talk about when they met again in private, she continued her explanation as usual which prompted a response from Oda. He was a lesser lord in this land, stating to be a clan leader of sorts. It would only make sense for someone of influence to occupy the Shogun's Manor. He was polite which was something Hana did not expect. While the woman standing behind him explained the hostility she expected, the two were oddly civilized about the whole thing. It was hard to not let her guard down, but as a ninja she had to always remain vigilant.

And sure enough being aware of one's surroundings had its perks. When both Akihiro and Ikomiki suddenly made an appearance at Hana's flank she immediately picked up their scent, more strongly from Ikomiki than the Uchiha. Jumpy at first she turned her head over her shoulders in a brief panic expecting to be bushwhacked by additional Samurai. Staying true to the mission's objective she retrained from making any movement towards her weaponry; any hostility towards Iron residents was strictly forbidden.

Fortunately the visitor was Akihiro and someone Hana had never seen before. What was she doing with him? But before she could shift her focus to the cat person she remembered why Akihiro made an appearance in the first place. She was late. "Oh, hamburgers. Is it already time to head out? And my assistant just took off." Hana turned to the two Samurai at the doorway, extending the case to the female now that Oda had stepped aside. "I wish I could stay to talk more, but I have something urgent to attend to. Chigetsu, my assistant, should be returning anytime. You can speak with him in my place." When the Samurai accepted the sword, or if not, after Hana gingerly set it on the ground, she would turn the other direction and start walking down the path towards the gate entrance with Akihiro and Ikomiki likely in tow.

Akihiro had followed her so far, but Hana certainly wasn't one for giving out easy explanations. In all fairness this wasn't exactly a private environment either but Akihiro had to wonder just how far they would have to follow Hana for her to let them in on what she wanted from them. Alas, he'd glance at Ikomiki and shrug. If Hana's business in Iron was done, so was theirs. There was little else left to do but follow the Kaguya down the entrance hall towards the outside. He couldn't help but think of the curious expressions Hana used. Her life really did revolve around burguers...he wondered what happened to the ketchup bottle she took from the Heavenly Emporium. Probably digested at this point.

Holding Ikomiki's hand, Akihiro would lead the cat girl outside. The aura that kept her warm was no more, so he'd like to keep her by his side for now. Always attentive to the people they left behind, the Sparrow wasted no time in getting out of there. "Alright Iko, we're going on an adventure. Best be prepared no?" He'd smile, hoping this adventure of theirs wasn't too dangerous.

Ikomiki said nothing. She wasn’t much of a talker anyway, but it seemed like Akihiro had some direction he was planning to go with this. Submissively waiting for his plan to be revealed, she would stay silent and allow him to do as he pleased. That little shrug he sent in her direction would be responded to the same way, with a similar shrug. Hana, the strange woman they had teleported in to meet, was given a sideways glance. If Akihiro wanted to talk to her she was probably a friend, but that didn’t necessarily mean Ikomiki could trust her.

Never at any point would she let go of his hand. Especially after they left, she would only draw herself closer to Akihiro for both safety and warmth. Just as the Sparrow did, Ikomiki wasted no time in getting her tail out of there. It was too cold to wait around for long, and already she was feeling vulnerable with this strange unfamiliar place.

"An adventure..." She whispered, uncertainty clear in her voice. "... Did you take us here to find moose?"

    [Exit]

    [Re-Entering? Un-Exiting?]

After having to rush away at maximum overdrive in order to find the nearest bathroom (there was no bathroom. He had to rush to a private spot in order to do his business behind a tree), Chigetsu would finally return. His sudden exit, right after having introduced himself, had been incredibly rude and frankly just unprofessional… But the alternative was pissing his pants. What was worse? And why was Chigetsu constantly put in these horrible situations? It seemed like awkwardness just followed him everywhere, no matter what happened. He just couldn’t get a break. For some reason he thought that after winning those Chunin Exams that things would get better for him. That he would be able to stand confidently and speak without stuttering or stammering.

In reality he just beat up all the people who had been his friends in order to gain an ounce of pride. He still was just as nervous and meek as he had been before. The only difference was that he had alienated himself from everyone he had gotten to become friends with during that time. Calis died, he hadn’t spoken to Kit in what felt like forever, and only just now was he reconnecting with Hana who was supposedly his girlfriend…

And just as he got back Chigetsu would realize that Hana was gone.

He would stare blankly. Chigetsu was utterly unprepared to be alone here. The only reason he had come was to follow Hana after all. Protect her. See to her needs as an assistant. Hopefully bond with her a little bit now that she’s back… To see that she was completely gone left the young boy flabbergasted. The sword that she had been carrying here, the purpose of this mission, was still around- He could see it clearly set inside the mansion with Oda and Kiyoko.

Uh…” He would squeak out, already shrinking a bit under the pressure of this situation. He had entirely expected to just let Hana do all the talking and act as her bodyguard. But… Was she gone? What happened to her? The only way he would be able to find out was… talking to these strangers…

H-Hey…” He would avert his eyes down, looking at the snow beneath his feet. Even though clearly nervous he still would remain close, unwilling to leave that aura of heat.

Sorry, but… Uh…” He just couldn’t spit it out.

Spirit of the Samurai Empty Re: Spirit of the Samurai

Post by Kiyoko Fri Sep 25, 2020 2:47 pm

Kiyoko would raise an eyebrow slightly as one of the two ninja standing at the door would suddenly rush off. Having spent as much time as she had around shinobi while growing up she was aware that they were without discipline but even this was closer to outright disrespect than she’d normally seen. If it weren’t for her utter lack of wanting them to remain she may have spoken up, but she kept her mouth closed. She’d heard their introductions and was somewhat surprised that the former Mizukage had travelled all this way to return Kurosawa to her people. Remembering her time spent with Kitsuki she began to consider that the shinobi, at least from Kirigakure, were perhaps not as terrible as she’d believed. Hearing Oda’s words she would approach the woman named Hana, some of the hatred melting from her features as she was reminded that she didn’t just represent herself, but all of Iron in this act.

She would bow her head politely to the white haired woman and extend her hands to accept the sword. “On behalf of the Shogun, Kensai Tanahashi I accept Kurosawa. I will guard it with my life until such time as it may be presented to him.” Mere seconds before her hands would touch the case two more shinobi would seemingly materialize behind Hana and her glare would return. A young man and a . . . cat? After arriving on the scene and following a short and incredibly rude exchange, Hana’s attention would briefly return to Kiyoko. She couldn’t expect foreigners to understand the significance of moments like these, they were far too tied to their cavalier attitudes to appreciate true culture. She would watch as the boy and the cat walked off after Hana, reverently holding the case with Kurosawa in it after accepting it from the former Mizukage while attempting to not shake her head in disdain. Glancing over towards Oda she would mutter quietly. This is why I do not trust the shinobi. They are always up to something, and it is rarely good.”

Seeing the blank look on Chigetsu’s face Kiyoko almost felt bad for him. She wanted to tell him to follow after the other shinobi, to get out and never come back. But the kinder part of her, the one that had softened with the arrival of her child and of gaining friends that she could trust, it told her to be compassionate. “Your companion was whisked away by some other unexpected guests. She seemed to expect them, and as far as I am aware the woman is fine.” She made to turn and go back into the manor, intending on closing the door as it was no longer her problem. But as she caught the calm visage of Oda out of the corner of her eye, she would sigh quietly and turn to face Chigetsu once more. “You must be tired after such a long journey. Please, come inside and warm yourself. We can offer you tea and a meal if you so wish.” She was struggling with her perceptions of the shinobi, wanting nothing to do with them. And also upholding the tenets of Bushido, and as an afterthought would add her honest opinion. “I am fairly displeased with the entire exchange. But I have seen no cause to worry about your intentions thus far. You are not the first shinobi to wander into our lands, and I doubt you’ll be the last. The last visitor was also from Kirigakure and she proved to be a cherished guest. Perhaps you will end up the same.” She could only hope that was the case as she would turn and head inside, expecting that she would be followed and have to entertain, or not and be able to return to their game of go.

Spirit of the Samurai Empty Re: Spirit of the Samurai

Post by Oda Fri Sep 25, 2020 4:56 pm

So much happened all at once that Oda had a little trouble keeping up. For a moment after one of them ran off it seemed strange to him. Why would they come to the door only to flee a moment later out of sight? He had heard a great deal about shinobi and their greed for power. Even those of lesser nations had tried the land of Iron only to find it now held power like it had once before. Before the major nations burned it down. Before they slaughtered anyone in their way and tore apart the land of Samurai. Leaving them only as a shell of their former selves. Now however they were becoming a kingdom once again. Fear of losing it once more...fear of losing all they had built bit at the back of his mind as he watched the strange one fade from sight. However he would remain calm. At least until suddenly two more had popped up out of no where the moment his friend stepped forward. Oda's eyes would flash red a moment as the heat reached nearly uncomfortable levels from him. Steam rising off his shoulders slightly as he watched and waited. The timing was terrible.

Still they appeared to be in a hurry to leave. He would take a breath and let himself be calm. They were rude but still the gesture remained. Something of Iron had been returned to them. Kiri was making an effort and despite their strange ways he would recognize that. Perhaps shinobi were not keen on social interactions but the sword was still in Iron's possession now. He would close his eyes a moment and calm himself and when he opened his eyes his heat was back to normal and his eyes back to a pearl white. He would watch the shinobi seem to blink out of reality and moments later he would see the strange one return. Kiyoko caught his eye a moment and seemed to force the hate from herself long enough to invite Chigetsu inside. To offer him a meal and some warmth which for Iron meant life more often than not. Oda would smile as she took her duties seriously it seemed. Still he would turn and walk with her back to the room where he was clearly losing their game. His hand would reach out to touch the pot. His fingers making the tea pot whistle slightly as if it was still on the burner.

"Do you take your tea with or without sugar? I know it's odd but I always like sugar in my tea. The flavor we currently have made is jasmine but if that isn't to your taste I can prepare something more to your liking."

Oda was of course polite. Yet the way he carried himself held a calmness to it. As if he was not ruled by his emotions but instead was far more regal than the average warrior. His posture was always flawless and he never seemed to look down his nose at anyone. Kiyoko was a good friend of his and he worried for harm to come to her. However so long as the shinobi were respectful he would reflect the same attitude back to them. No servants seemed to roam the halls but the mansion was spotless. Nothing out of place, no odors other than some incense burning off to the side. Perhaps someone had lit them for the calming aroma or perhaps it was a prayer. Without having been there it would be difficult to tell. However simply being in Oda's presence would feel calming. He was warm, kind and respectful. His Samurai way was what he clung to the most.

Spirit of the Samurai Empty Re: Spirit of the Samurai

Post by Chigetsu Wed Sep 30, 2020 4:27 pm

Whisked away…?” It would be whispered under his breath mere moments after Kiyoko had said it. The information she had just given had nearly sent him into a state of shock, at least more so than he already was in. He had been selected as Hana’s assistant for this mission and then he lost her? She just got taken away by some people? Was she kidnapped? Kiyoko said that Hana seemed to be expecting them and that she seemed to be fine but… His mind immediately started racing. His posture, which had originally been tense and tight with anxiety, would slouch in a physical representation of his mental state shifting from nervousness to despair. Hana hadn’t said a single word about any of this to him. Was she keeping secrets, or…? Chigetsu couldn’t help but worry.

He bowed, almost immediately transferring that improper slouched posture into a bow of his head. The bow of his head turned into the male getting on his knees, prostrating himself fully down to the ground. His forehead would end up in the snow, pressed just inches away from the doorstep.

Please forgive us…” He sputtered out. The urge to apologize had come immediately for him, before he had even thought on how to phrase what he wanted to apologize for. “Bringing our troubles to your doorstep when we were supposed to be returning something to you… After all the problems we’ve already caused you…

To be honest, Chigetsu had no idea what was going on with Hana, or this entire situation with the Land of Iron. He was only vaguely aware that the raid had taken place, more or less only knowing about it by chance. The same was true of Hana’s previous involvement in it, and the entire significance of the samurai sword they were returning. None of that had ever been anything they had discussed before. Not like he was going to willingly bring up what might have been prickly or awkward, especially when it seemed she didn’t want to talk about it. He had no idea what made Kirigakure shift to want to return the sword after stealing it either. None of it made any sense to him. He was more or less an ignorant child dragged into this situation solely by his relationship with Hana, and now was left to handle something he barely understood. A very stressful thing to be doing when it was his first time leaving his house in about a year. Just being alone as he was now put him under a pressure that nearly drove him to tears as he apologized to the samurai.

Slowly he would stand, and with his sleeve he would frustratedly wipe the beginnings of tears away from his eyes and the clinging snow that stuck to his face. He would regain the composure to accept their invitation inside, but it was a gradual process for the still fragile boy. Or, man. He was too old now to be crying like this still. Chigetsu had to remind himself he wasn’t a baby anymore. What he was doing here was just pathetic, and would surely be looked upon as that way by the onlooking samurai. Letting those self-deprecating thoughts sink into his mind, Hozuki would steel himself as he moved forward, doing his absolute best to put on a strong face.

I… I'm sorry you had to see that. Uhm… With sugar, please. Thank you for being so kind with your hospitality. I don’t deserve it… If there’s anything I can do for you while I’m here, please just say so.

Kiyoko would sigh inwardly as she saw the young shinobi’s reaction to her words. She couldn’t be sure if she was being too harsh, or the young man was overly sensitive, or some combination of both. Either way it ended with the girl prostrated themselves in the snow on the steps of the manor. She didn’t understand the depth of emotion that Chigetsu was apparently feeling, she did recall from her time in Kumogakure that shinobi tended to be more emotional in nature. Always aggressively jumping to conclusions and looking for a fight. Not that she was so terribly different, but she had at least been taught to attempt to keep that under control. Some of the hatred left her eyes as she turned from her intended path indoors and observed his melodramatic apology. She viewed him now as she had the shinobi Kitsuki, with the smallest amount of sympathy. He was young and in a strange and hostile land. Hostile to him anyway, she didn’t believe there was a person here who didn’t harbor some grudge or fear against the shinobi. Especially those from Kirigakure. And on top of all that he had quite literally been abandoned by his companion. Not even a word of goodbye, or a note left. She’d always seen the disrespect towards her people from shinobi, but she hadn’t realized how cruel they were to each other.

Against her better judgement she let her guard down just a tiny bit as she saw the pink haired shinobi wipe the beginnings of tears from her eyes. She knew what it was to be abandoned and betrayed. She could understand the pain of it, and in much the same way that she comforted her own daughter she would speak softly to the male. “Come now, there is no cause for tears. Come inside and rest and we will see what can be done.” Who knew that the fierce and virtually emotionless, save for righteous anger, Kiyoko could be undone by a few tears? It was a revelation to her and not one that she liked. Turning again and going inside she would expect Oda to watch for signs of trouble as she set the case down on a table and opened the lid to inspect the sword. Assuming the thing didn’t blow up in her face or some other such trap she would remove the legendary sword and attach it to her belt next to her own. Once the sword was securely attached to her person she would make her way back to her seat, the game of go still waiting though with the unexpected guests it had long since lost its appeal.

Spirit of the Samurai Empty Re: Spirit of the Samurai

Post by Oda Mon Oct 05, 2020 6:47 pm

Oda would blink in surprise at the display in front of him. To see one throw away their pride was a very discomforting feeling and now he felt he was on the spot to either forgive the young shinobi or turn them away. For them to be turned away alone and lost in this cold would without a doubt be considered cruelty and he just could not abide by such means. He was not a wicked man and despite their origins they had come with a symbol of peace. He could not fault the young kiri shinobi for the faults of their predecessors and all the torment that had come to their country at their hands. However a part of him wondered if this one being left here was by design. To see their defenses and numbers. One could argue that the return of the sword could only be a temporary one to regain their trust. However there were ways to comfort his fears without seeming rude in the process. Still he would smile as even Kyoko seemed to thaw her heart on the matter as she welcomed the young one in. He would indeed keep an eye on them while she strapped the sword to herself. Never having considered that the gift itself may have been trapped.

Oda would quietly place two sugar cubes in a tea cup dry before picking up the tea pot filled with mint tea and slowly pouring it over the sugar cubes to dissolve them evenly through the tea. The heat causing steam to rise up and the aroma of the mint and sugar mixing bordering on heavenly. Truthfully he always liked sugar in his tea as well and had learned to prepare it this way because of it. Still he would pour each of them one and place them on a wooden tray. Once that was done he would prepare a seat to the side of the Go board with a pillow for their guest. No servants came to help them as it seemed the Samurai dedicated themselves to their own tasks fully. Once the seat was prepared with enough space in front of it for the tray Oda would place the tray down for each of them to easily reach their own cup before settling into a seat himself. His pearl white eyes looking over the board before glancing back to Chigetsu.

:"We would of course be happy to shelter you until some means of transportation home has been arranged. We know all to well what it is like to be left in the wilderness and harsh cold without a friend. However during your stay here I would advise keeping to the grounds within the walls of the manor. While we may be understanding of your current situation there are those who still feel the sting of what was lost from Kiri not so long ago. Both for their safety and yours this must be adhered to." Of course that meant not getting a good view of their defensive capabilities. And while this was discussed he could postpone his loss at Go.

After securing Kurosawa and enjoying a cup of tea, Kiyoko would nod her head to her friend and the lost Kirigakure shinobi, rising from her place around the table. She had had quite enough excitement for the day and she fully trusted Oda to entertain and guard their unexpected guest. Echoing her companions orders her voice would carry across the room. “I have other duties I must attend to. You will remain under guard as long as you are in our lands. As Lord Oda has stated you will also remain within the manor walls until such time as you are granted express permission otherwise. As long as you follow our laws your life is not in danger. I trust you understand why this is necessary.” She would follow her statement with a formal bow towards the young man and a hint of a sympathetic smile. As an afterthought she would add a less formal parting. “Please rest, I would see you prepared for your journey home.”

With a deep bow to Oda she would turn and exit the manor, heading past the guards and towards her home. She had many things to prepare for and as much as the young man’s emotional display had tugged at her heart strings, she simply didn’t have time to spend on the trivialities of emotions. She regretted leaving the game unfinished, but she suspected that Oda did not, based on his avoidance of continuing it. They would have a rematch at some point she was sure, but for now she would call it a draw.

    {Attempted Exit} [Claiming Kurosawa]

Post by Chigetsu Sun Oct 11, 2020 2:03 am

The wiping at his face would be increased in speed for a moment, frustratedly attempting to wipe everything away before returning his arm down to his side. His face was a little red now, easily visible on his pale skin. It was utterly embarrassing now to have done this, something that only hit him when he was in the middle of crying and prostrating himself like that. In his attempt to apologize he had thrown away his pride and made an utter fool of himself. Making himself appear pathetic hadn’t been his goal, but just like always it seemed to just naturally happen. Already he began to feel angry at himself for being so repulsive, but nothing could be done about that now. Things always spun out of control for him like this.

Thank you for your kindness.” He steadied his voice, attempting to control himself now like he hadn’t been able to before. With his eyes, slightly red and irritated from his earlier rubbing, pointed down towards the ground, he would follow the pair into their home.

He carefully watched Oda pour the tea, his eyes following the stream of liquid and focusing in on that. Chigetsu didn’t have the courage now to look anyone in the eyes, or act in any other manner than the strictest politeness. He was too tense, broken in by the formality of the situation in an unknown, unfamiliar place. Once Oda put down the tray before them Chigetsu would wait, not immediately taking the cup offered to him. An anxious part of him refused to take the cup offered to him before either Oda or Kiyoko took their own, thinking it impolite to be the first one to take a drink as a guest. Only after one of the others would help themselves would Chigetsu do so as well.

Of course, it wouldn’t be long until that tension inside Chigetsu snapped.

He didn’t say anything, but the color very visibly drained out of his face once Oda mentioned the words ‘means of transportation’. It hadn’t been something Chigetsu had considered… Did Hana take the boat too? Not only did some stranger whisk Hana away, but they both took the boat together and left Chigetsu stranded here alone with no way to get home? Was this something she planned in advance? … His mind immediately went to dark places, driven by his exacerbated insecurities.

I’ll follow all the rules.” The swirling vortex of awfulness inside his mind was something Chigetsu tried to hide. It was hidden behind a dull expression and a weak smile, his face pale and words without any conviction. “I don’t want to cause any more trouble than I already have...

It seemed that Kiyoko would be quick to leave, a natural progression of things seeing as she was the one who received Kurosawa. That she would have to return it to its rightful place and report its return to the rest of the village’s leadership was natural. Chigetsu didn’t question it for a second, even if he hadn’t really thought about it before. A bow would reflexively be returned to her as she bowed to him, although he was unsure if it was the correct procedure to bow in response to a bow like this. It was especially awkward as he was sitting as well, and hadn’t the foresign to stand up before attempting to bow.

Oda was a decent host and a kind man. He did not like to look at others in a dark light. If anything he hoped all could be saved and he would never need to resort to his own blade being drawn. The difference between him and a pacifist though was he was in fact prepared to draw his blade when needed. But only when needed. He usually gave even his enemies a chance to walk away. Truth be told though he would not choose to see Chigetsu as an enemy. Perhaps he was a fool but he preferred to be one than someone who feared the world. He would spend the night playing go with Chigetsu and even share a meal with him. Making small talk while likely neither of them revealed too many details about their villages or their own abilities. No prodding for information or preparing to fight each other. Indeed it was a warm and comfortable environment that Oda provided. Even the dinner was delicious in a combination of fish, vegetables and rice. In the morning it was a bowl of rice with an over easy egg on top and bits of bacon in the rice. Or plain if they were a vegetarian as an option with some sweet sauce for the flavor.

It was in the morning that Oda understood how uncomfortable Chigetsu was in a strange land and abandoned without reason. So Oda would offer to walk him to the border so he would be warm until they reached a warmer climate and see him off. Assuming the offer was taken Oda would provide warmer clothing for them if it was taken in the form of some wolf fur. If not wool would be an option too. Oda as promised would walk Chi to the border and keep them warm for the duration but they would part ways there. Oda bowing his head before watching them walk off into the Horizon until they were out of sight and then finally returning home.

Post by Chigetsu Mon Oct 12, 2020 7:52 pm

His time in Iron had been spent pleasantly, for what it was worth. The samurai had been kind to him, kinder than he had expected. Luckily they hadn’t taken him as an enemy, and the strange situation with Hana disappearing hadn’t spooked them into thinking foul play. Oda was an especially kind host, spending the night with him and keeping him company in his anxiety, even preparing a meal together with that tea for him to eat. The dinner was delicious too, much healthier than the sort of food Chigetsu usually ate. Fish, vegetables, and rice all made by Oda… Chigetsu got to watch, and he was in a bit of awe the entire time. The breakfast the next morning was similarly impressive, with Chigetsu almost shocked by these basic skills.

He had wanted to wait a bit but no Hana never ended up coming back for him. Even as the night progressed into the next morning. Without getting a wink of sleep Chigetsu would progress into the next day. It was only through Oda’s kindness that he was able to leave the manor, being provided warmer clothing. Oda would walk him to the edge of the nation, to a warmer climate, and then he would be on his own.

He would give one last bow to the samurai before leaving.
