[妖怪 - Yōkai]
[Clan Location: Kumogakure]
[Bloodline Name & Type: KKG/Doujutsu - Spiritual Path]
[Current Clan Leader: Ashtoreth Yokai (NPC)]
Clan History/Description
The Yokai believe themselves to be descendants of ancient spirits from whom they claim their name, spirits of various abilities and supernatural powers who, the clan believes, became their Mothers and Fathers. The Yokai have, as a result, also considered themselves to be separate from ordinary Humans and often refer to themselves as "Autosaidā" or "Outsider" when speaking about their relationship with the rest of Humanity and the Shinobi World in general. It is only recently that the Yokai have chosen to attempt integrating themselves into ordinary society, mainly due to a sharp decline in their numbers due to many members venturing off into unknown lands and never returning or persecution from a populace scared of those unlike themselves. As a result, Yokai of all 'Paths' as they call their separate Bloodlines have begun to congregate in Shinobi Villages - namely Kumogakure - and have begun to make themselves known and assert themselves as valuable members of their respective communities and prove that unlike the legends that have tainted their names for generations, they can coexist with normal Humans if given the chance.
Clan/Bloodline Traits & Characteristics
The Yokai are a varied clan who are separated into "Paths" that are believed, at least by the majority of the Clan Members, to be gifted onto the individual Yokai at birth and which represent different aspects of their believed Demonic Heritage. These Paths are as follows:
The Oni:
Mainly warriors and those of hearty build, Oni are unparalleled among the rest of the Clan in their physical prowess and usually exhibit the most demonic features of all the Paths, making them the most easily recognizable members as well as perhaps the most infamous as well.
They can be identified by a typically red skin-tone, as well as horns upon their heads in some cases. This, combined with their often muscular builds and a rather large size, make them an intimidating presence on the battlefield.
The Tengu:
Cunning craftsmen who tend to avoid confrontation, the Yokai of the Tengu Path are believed to be some of the most intelligent of the clan's members and have a knack for creation as well as perfection of items. They are also well-known as being the most Human among the three Paths and as a result, can easily integrate themselves into regular human society without too much trouble.
They are identified by a slender, almost malnourished build, although this can be mitigated if the Tengu cares properly for their body despite the natural aversion to doing so.
The Baku:
Pale, intimidating visages who are masters of illusion and deceit. These Yokai are believed to descend from ancestors who once fed on the dreams and nightmares of Humans. They are most easily recognized by their dark auras and eyes that seem to be filled with stars and galaxies which turn red when utilizing their particular Devil's Eye techniques.
They are most identified by their aforementioned pale skin, however, they also are known to have unnaturally pristine complexions and wings that have caused some to mistake them for angels - usually only once.
Bloodline Description & Abilities
Once a Yokai is born, they are gifted with the blessings of a patron/matron spirit who bestows upon them gifts unique to the Path that has been determined for them. This Path cannot be changed and one cannot receive gifts of more than one path, however, all Yokai receive a base Doujutsu from which their powers evolve depending on their Path and alter the appearance of their Doujutsu accordingly.
The Base Doujutsu, known as "悪魔の目" or "Devil's Eye", is a Doujutsu which at the base level does not have many effects in its natural state, however, it is not without certain benefits:
When activated, the Devil's Eye grants the user a + to Perception as well as a + to the Power of Fire techniques while it remains active. The Devil's Eye appears, at its base form, as if the corner of the user's eyes were leaking out an ethereal flame which dissipates into the air near them. This flame does not produce heat nor is tangible, however, it is a representation of the owner's demonic ancestry. It costs nothing to activate the Devil's Eye, however, an upkeep cost of 0.1 is required to keep the Eye active.
The Paths each grant their own benefits and drawbacks depending on the birthright which a User was gifted with; each of these being detailed below:
Bloodline Limits & Drawbacks
- Only one Bloodline Path can be obtained.
- Once taken, a Path cannot be changed.
- Each Path has individual strengths/weaknesses.

When activated, the Devil's Eye grants the user a + to Perception as well as a + to the Power of Fire techniques while it remains active.
- Path Of The Oni:
- Path Of The Oni:
The Path of the Oni is one of raw power beyond all else. Those who were born under this Path often have naturally reddened skin-tones or horns that protrude from their head, more often than not resulting in them having the most demonic appearances out of all the Paths while also making them the most recognizable. Their "Devil's Eye" takes on a much more intense appearance, with the flames shooting out to the side of the individual's head on either side - yet still producing no heat. Their pupils also appear as if they have flames within them, adding to their fearsome demeanor.
Following this Path requires honing one's physical prowess to its limits and then surpassing those limits, daring to go further beyond until the individually eventually evolves themselves past Human limits. Each rank into this Bloodline grants the user bonuses that represent their growth in physical ability, as well as alters their appearance slightly to visually show this growth.
Rank 1 (250 EXP) -
The Yokai in question has answered the call of their Birthright and has begun to harness the power held deep within themselves. Their skin begins to harden, their muscles become more defined, and they are granted the following:
+ to Strength.
+ to Constitution against poisons.
Rank 2 (250 EXP) -
The Yokai has now surpassed their previous abilities several times over, they have become even more physically strong and their skin has now hardened further and is now likely a much more apparent shade of red than before. They appear much like the physical pinnacle of a human being, though this may not represent their actual ability in utilizing their strength; upon reaching this rank, the following is granted:
An additional + to Strength.
An additional + to Constitution against poisons.
Rank 3 (500 EXP) -
The Yokai has surpassed the Human limits of physique and strength at this point, their skin is now a much more clear shade of red than before and their muscles seem almost otherworldly if they chose to make them visible. Their eyes now take on a deep red color and emit a visible flaming glow when angered.
Yokai who achieve this level of ability can enter a Demonic State which grants them the following effects:
- Full Tier increase to Strength on top of their additional Strength bonuses (cannot exceed S Tier)
- Full Tier increase to Constitution, however, unlike the previous Ranks this applies to all situations (cannot exceed S Tier)
Entering this state costs the Stamina of a C-Rank technique to activate, as well as an upkeep of a D-Rank technique for each post it remains active. It is also forcibly ended once the User reaches ten Stamina or lower and/or if they are knocked unconscious.
- Path Of The Tengu:
- Path Of The Tengu:
Yokai born under the path of the Tengu are natural craftsmen, often choosing to shy away from their more naturally demonic counterparts and choosing instead to integrate themselves with society as best as possible. These Yokai are often social individuals who enjoy the company of Humans despite their demonic origins and find themselves welcomed by most due to their skill in their respective craft.
Tengu appear mostly human in nature, although most individuals have more rounded eyes than the typical Human, which is hardly noticeable unless one takes a long glance at the Yokai in question.
Those born under this Path are naturally cunning, which, along with their affinity for crafting makes them a less combat-focused but still useful Yokai to have in a Squad or as an ally.
Rank 1 (250 EXP) -
At this rank, the Yokai has begun training their naturally gifted mind; though likely neglecting their physical strength in the process. As a result, Yokai of this Path begins to adopt a slender build and often can be described as lanky depending on how well they have taken care of their body while training their mind. This does not worsen with rank, however, it does make them seem like less of a threat to many who take them at first glance.
Those who have achieved this rank are granted the following benefits:
+ to the quality of all crafted material of ONE crafting-based Skill.
(Cannot boost item quality past S-Tier)
+ to Coordination.
Rank 2 (250 EXP) -
Yokai of the Tengu Path who have reached this rank have begun to hone their mastery of Craftsmanship, they can see the flaws in equipment that other Yokai or even Humans may not normally be able to. At this rank, they gain the following benefits that represent their growing knowledge and application of superior crafting techniques alongside their naturally gifted intelligence:
An additional + to the quality of all crafted material of ONE crafting-based Skill. (This can be applied to either the same skill as the previous + or a separate Skill if desired / Cannot boost item quality past S-Tier)
An additional + To Coordination.
Rank 3 (500 EXP) -
Yokai who have achieved this Rank in the Tengu Path are considered to be master artisans by many, able to tell even the smallest of imperfections in a crafted item and work these imperfections out during the creation process to wondrous effect. Yokai of this Rank also receive the ability to utilize their enhanced Intelligence to discern flaws in Genjutsu much as they would with their crafted items, granting them the following benefits:
An additional + to the quality of all crafted material of ONE crafting-based Skill. (This can be applied to either the same skill as the previous + or a separate Skill if desired / Cannot boost item quality past S-Tier)
An additional + To Coordination.
The Tengu also have the ability to tap into the same areas that allow them to see imperfections in materials and equipment in order to more easily discern the illusions and falsehood of Genjutsu. While they are tapped into this ability, all Genjutsu effectiveness is lowered by one tier: This costs the amount of Stamina of a C-Rank technique to activate and the Stamina of a D-Rank technique in order to upkeep.
- Path Of The Baku:
- Path Of The Baku:
Yokai born under this Path are naturally gifted in the ways of Genjutsu and Fuuinjutsu, favoring illusions and deceit over direct combat and often resulting in them being similarly weak of physical stature much like their Tengu brethren, although they still retain combat effectiveness unlike the former and make up for their weaknesses through their specialized Genjutsu and Fuuinjutsu techniques.
The main difference in the appearance of those under this Path when compared to their kin is that those of this path often have much paler skin and darker eyes than other Yokai. Although they still retain an otherwise human appearance, save for some features such as small wing-like protrusions or horns in certain cases depending on the individual Yokai.
The difference in the "Devil's Eye" of this Path is that those born under the Baku Path have seemingly star-filled eyes that look much like miniature galaxies when viewed closely, however, appear almost black from afar. This is also the only Path of the Yokai Clan that focuses upon the use of the "Devil's Eye" and as a result have a unique approach to combat all their own.
Rank 1 (250 EXP) -
Yokai that have reached the first Rank in the Baku Path have begun to channel a deep connection with their demonic ancestors and, as such, have acquired a faint aura of darkness that follows them and gives them a generally sinister air to most people. This aura is not visible in anything above a dim light at this Rank and their Devil's Eye has begun to awaken as the flames begin to encircle the eye rather than protrude from it as in the Oni Path. Yokai of this Rank in the Baku Path grant the following benefits:
+ To the Power of all sight-based Genjutsu (cannot surpass S Tier)
+ To Intelligence.
Rank 2 (250 EXP) -
Yokai of this Tier have become more in-tune with their supposed ancestors than before, allowing for not only a deeper connection to their roots but also a more intense presence of this connection on the normal plane of existence. Their aura of darkness is now visible in normal lighting and their Devil's Eye is now distinctive in that the flames have fully encircled the eyes of the user when active. Yokai of this Rank grant the following benefits:
An additional + To the Power of all sight-based Genjutsu (cannot surpass S Tier)
An additional + To Intelligence.
Rank 3 (500 EXP) -
Yokai of this Tier have reached a nigh-supernatural connection with their ancestors and it is obvious to anyone who gazes upon them. Their skin is now ghostly pale and their Aura is visible in all but the brightest of lights. Their Devil's Eye is now encircled in flames and the galaxies turn blood red when the Eye is activated. At this Rank, a Yokai can briefly utilize Fuuinjutsu to alter space itself to their will, granting them the following effects when activated:
Full Tier increase in power to all sight-based Genjutsu (cannot surpass S Tier)
Full Tier increase to Intelligence when activated (cannot surpass S Tier)
Those trapped within a sight-based Genjutsu while this effect is active have the effectiveness of their Genjutsu: Kai lowered by one Rank.
This ability costs a C-Rank technique equivalent in Stamina to activate and a D-Rank technique in Stamina to upkeep. Cannot exceed five posts per target.
Can only be used once per thread on a given target.
Bloodline Limits & Drawbacks

- Once taken, a Path cannot be changed.
- Each Path has individual strengths/weaknesses.

Name: Devil's Eye: Human Guise
Rank: D
Power: D
Activation Cost: D-Rank
Upkeep Cost: E-Rank
Range: Sight
Speed: Instant
Element: -
Skill: Genjutsu
Classification: Yokai Clan Only
Requirements: Yokai Clan Member
Parent Technique: Devil's Eye (Activated)
Hand Seals: -
Description:
Utilizing their Devil's Eye, a Yokai may take on a Human guise of their choosing that fits within the dimensions of their 'True Form'. This disguise cannot be more than one foot taller or shorter or have a weight difference of twenty pounds either more or less. While in this form, Yokai are able to pass themselves off as fully Human to those who observe them by casting a minor Genjutsu through their eyes at all who they can observe; this does mean, however, that those who they cannot observe or who the Yokai are unaware of may see their true form and that only once the Yokai is able to observe them is the illusion placed.
Seeing as this is a constant illusory appearance, this technique cannot be broken by taking damage like the Transformation Technique and instead lasts until the Yokai either dispels the technique or their Stamina is depleted below the Upkeep Requirement.
It is worth noting that a Yokai may also use this technique to only partially cover their true form for intimidation purposes, however, the full price of the technique must still be paid so long as it is in use.
Other Genjutsu techniques may be performed while this technique is active.
Weaknesses:
- Only works on those that the Yokai can observe.
- Requires a constant upkeep cost to maintain.
Name: Devil's Eye: Confusion
Rank: C
Power: C
Activation Cost: C-Rank
Upkeep Cost: D-Rank
Range: Sight
Speed: Instant
Element: N/A
Skill: Genjutsu
Classification: Yokai Clan Only
Requirements: Clan Member / Baku Path
Parent Technique: Devil's Eye (Activated)
Hand Seals: N/A
Description:
Upon looking directly into one another's eyes, the Yokai casts a Genjutsu upon the target which clouds their mind and causes them to briefly be unable to clearly recall information regarding events or individuals that they have seen or made contact with within the previous ten minutes (or six posts). They are unable to recall names, dates, times, or any specific details regarding an event that had transpired within this timeframe or individuals that have been made contact with during this period -- meaning, for example:
A target has spoken with their close friend within the last five minutes (three posts) before this Genjutsu was cast, upon the casting, they would be unable to recall this friends name or their exact relationship. However, they would not be able to be manipulated with this technique alone into becoming hostile toward this individual or otherwise wanting to harm them in any way, as their subconscious would still be aware that this individual is not an enemy or a threat.
The same applies in the inverse of the situation, a target cannot be made to believe - with this technique alone - that a former enemy has become their ally, but they would be unable to accurately articulate why they are enemies and may be distracted by this technique enough as to not attack while it is active.
In order to maintain this technique, the Yokai must maintain within direct sight of the individual and if they leave this vision - even for a second - the technique will be dispelled and cannot be attempted on the same individual within the same thread.
This Technique lasts for up to six posts, so long as none of the aforementioned end-conditions have been met.
Weaknesses:
- Can be undone via Time Reversal Jutsu or similar technique.
- Direct sight must be maintained on the target to function.
Name: Devil's Eye: Devil's Charm
Rank: C
Power: C
Activation Cost: C-Rank
Upkeep Cost: -
Range: Touch
Speed: User's Speed
Element: -
Skill: Genjutsu
Classification: Yokai Clan Only
Requirements: Clan Member / Baku Path
Parent Technique: Devil's Eye: Confusion
Hand Seals: N/A
Description:
While under the influence of the "Devil's Eye: Confusion" technique or another "Devil's Eye" technique that affects the memories of a target, a Yokai may cast this additional layer of Genjutsu by touching the target with their bare hands - the place that they touch must also be bare skin - and in doing so, whisper either in Demonic Speech or in Human Speech to the target a phrase that is up to the user to determine.
Once this is done, the target will begin to see the user as an individual they are romantically inclined toward despite what they may have originally thought about the user before this technique was cast. The target will feel compelled to be as close to the user as possible and is suggestive toward requests, however, cannot be made to perform any violent or harmful acts while under this technique's effect.
While under this Genjutsu, the target's eyes will take on a pink color and thus be instantly recognizable as under the influence of the user even to those who have not experienced the parent technique. This, along with the restriction imposed on actions that the target can be made to perform make this technique mainly useful in one-on-one intelligence gathering or manipulation, rather than for use on a single target while multiple individuals are present.
This technique will be ended if the Parent Technique is ended, or if the user performs any act that will cause harm to the target either directly or indirectly. Otherwise, it will remain active for up to six posts.
Weaknesses:
- Can only be used on one individual at a time.
- Parent Technique must be in use before this technique can be activated.
- Ends upon ending of the Parent Technique.
- Restricted in the application as to what can be done / what can be asked of the target.
