The crystal mines were treacherous, but Hibiki had been managing them well enough. That being said, it wouldn't be without its dangers. Maybe it was a product of her hallucinations, but maybe not. Was that a noise she heard?

It always paid off to have a sensor on your team. It went without saying that there were other teams participating in the exam. With that came new alliances as well. After noticing that they weren't nearly as strong as the Major nation representatives, some of the Minor Nation applicants that had made it this far had decided to band together. With that came a merging of certain skills and abilities, making their sum much greater than the parts that comprised their team.
They'd been tracking a single target for a while, knowing that the likelihood was that they held a single scroll. An ambush of 4 against 1 on a weakened and alone target was perfect. Even if it was one of the stronger Genin from a Major nation, they'd be hard pressed to lose, and then they'd have 3 scrolls and only need 1 more. That was the thought process on joining together. It would be easier to ambush and take out lone targets or weak groups to advance with superior numbers.
While the making of a decoy would be useful in fooling the eyes, it wasn't useful in fooling the extrasensory capabilities of a sensor-nin.
Hailing from the land of Mountain, two shinobi formed one of the groups. Comprised of two males, this group had a dedicated support type Shinobi who was the primary sensor, medic, and Genjutsu specialist, as well as a dedicated combat specialist. The defacto leader of this group, given his affinity for a Kekkai Genkai, he was a practitioner of Crystal Release, which was why they camped in this area instead of moving on.
The other group hailed from Nagi Island, a minor nation held by Kirigakure. Comprised of a male and a female, while these two were talented in their own right, they hadn't specialized as hard on their talents, choosing to have a mixture of support talents and combat skills. While they weren't as good at either as their partners from Mountain, they could provide useful backup in case either of them went down and still fulfill the role well enough until the others had been brought back up.
All in all: A difficult group to face for many.
Hibiki would hear the sound of a hiss, an explosion, and clattering rocks as a trap was sprung, blocking off a portion of the path backwards with some collapsed tunnels. The trap had been manually sprung using an explosive tag from 20 meters away, and 3 of the 4 ambushers stepped out towards Hibiki, blocking her advance forward, the dedicated support remaining hidden further up the path for the time being. There was an advantage on staying out of the fight until absolutely needed.
The Korikane crystal user smirked at Hibiki. "Two options: Option 1, you hand over your scroll and continue on your way. Option 2, we make this a fight and you get knocked out of the competition."
