    Spoiler:

Perhaps intentional, perhaps not: Nao and Natsuki found themselves taking almost the exact same path that Innocence and Hibiki had forged the previous day. Having picked up the trail that they'd taken, if they tracked the footsteps well enough, they'd find the path directly towards where the two had traveled and where one had met a grisly end.

The words that had been sent from Hibiki hung heavy. "Mayday, Mayday. Innocence is dead. Repeat Innocence is dead. The funny Kiri ninja with tattoos killed her." Any attempted response for the time had fallen on deaf ears, as Hibiki was stricken with a Deafness Genjutsu.

The Oasis gradually transitioned into a full-on jungle. How the Hyuuga and Uchiha proceeded was up to them: Follow in Innocence and Hibiki's footsteps, or break off and forge their own path?

Post by Nao Hyūga Sun Jul 21, 2024 12:31 am

Nao moved with deliberate caution, his Byakugan activated, scanning the surroundings for any sign of danger. The dense foliage of the jungle was a stark contrast to the Oasis they had just left behind. He glanced over at Natsuki, the message from Hibiki echoed in his mind, and a sense of urgency propelled him forward. Hibiki was now alone out here, there was no telling what could have happened to her. He had tried to respond when she told him of Innocence, yet she didn't make another reply, he had to hope that something had not befallen her as well. "We got trouble, Natsuki. Innocence was killed and now Hibiki is on her own. It was a Kiri ninja with tattoos killed Innocence, we need to find Hibiki as soon as possible. She might still be in danger and the Kiri ninja and their teammate might still be in the area."

He kneeled briefly to inspect the faint footprints, their patterns confirming they were on the right track. "Their trail is still fresh," he noted, rising to his feet. "Stay alert. We don't know what traps or ambushes might be waiting for us." As they moved deeper into the jungle, Nao's senses remained sharp, his Byakugan providing a comprehensive view of their surroundings. "We can't afford to make any mistakes here." The jungle grew denser, the sounds of wildlife becoming more prominent, Amarok on high alert as they trudged through the foliage. Every rustle and chirp seemed amplified, adding to the tension.

Nao's mind raced with the possibilities of what lay ahead, but he remained focused, his eyes constantly scanning for any signs of Hibiki or the Kiri ninjas. "We'll find Hibiki make sure that the Kiri ninjas pay for Innocence's death," he stated reassuringly for both Natsuki and his own sake. He may not have liked Innocence, but she was his teammates friend and kinsman. Retribution would be required, the words that Airi had spoke before the beginning of the exams rang in his ears, a death of one of their own requires repayment. He just had to hope that Hibiki was alright, and away from danger.

Team 4: Day 2 Prep Empty Re: Team 4: Day 2 Prep

Post by Natsuki Uchiha Sun Jul 21, 2024 2:54 pm

It was a remarkable thing, the diversity of biomes within this space, but Natsuki didn't have much time to marvel at this jungle, let alone the entire maze. "Innocence was killed..." Natsuki's heart sank into his chest for a brief moment, the thick air seemed to swirl before his eyes as those words sank in in kind. The further they sank, however, the more ludicrous the thought became.

He remained quiet as his thoughts traveled far faster than they did. There were a million questions, and each possible answer only begot yet more. Nao was on the trail and, on it, there were bound to be some concrete answers- but that didn't stop the young Uchiha from theorizing. Of course, his partner was preoccupied with Hibiki and her wellbeing, there was no surprise there, but for Innocence to be killed?! The damnable air, tasting awful and miasmic as it did, certainly did not help things- it figures they'd find themselves in such a place two days in a row.

Then, as his theorizes continued to swirl, Natsuki came to a sudden epiphany. His mouth opened wide as a single loud cackle erupted from him. He continued, completely outside of his control, howling with laughter at the mere concept. "Innocence, dead? Hah, I don't think so, Nao. We should find Hibiki if she's alone, for sure, but Inno's got a plan- there's no way anyone would- no, could- pull one over on her, let alone kill her! She's got something tricky planned haha, just you wait! Hahaha!"

While they trailed, rushing through the foliage and in his absentminded laughter, a series of large ferns smacked him in the face and entered his mouth. As he moved his tongue to push them out, however, he detected a pleasant and almost minty taste. He stopped for a moment and gripped a large bundle of leaves. If they were going to stick around here for awhile, he'd do so with a more pleasant aroma.

Post by Nao Hyūga Sun Jul 21, 2024 3:34 pm

Nao glanced at Natsuki, his laughter breaking the tension of the moment, albeit briefly. "I hope you're right, Natsuki. If anyone can pull off a trick like that, it's Innocence, but Hibiki seemed pretty sure on the matter." Nao's mind raced as he tried to balance the hope that Innocence had outsmarted her attacker with the urgency of finding Hibiki. The jungle's dense foliage seemed to close in around them, every step forward met with resistance from the thick underbrush. "Keep those senses sharp," Nao reminded, the weight of their mission pressing down on him. "We'll need to be at our best to find Hibiki and deal with the Kiri ninja."

As they moved, Nao's Byakugan caught subtle movements, the jungle alive with creatures going about their business, but he remained focused on finding any trace of Hibiki. The trail of footprints became more defined, leading them deeper into the jungle terrain. "We need to move faster," he urged, quickening his pace. Nao's determination grew with each step, his senses on high alert. He knew that finding Hibiki and ensuring her safety was the priority, but the thought of Innocence's possible deception lingered in his mind. Soon he would stop dead in his tracks, his eyes would land on the carcass of a tiger near a tree, but they didn't stay on it long. The clearing they just entered looked like a battlefield, chaos even among the jungle.

Not far from the carcass he would find a large pool of blood and his face would fall, it was possible that the blood was from the tiger but a quick glance back to it told him it was something more. Was it here that Innocence had fallen, it was far too much blood for someone to survive such a thing. Unless it was a trick of some sort, but in the pit of his stomach Nao felt that this wasn't a trick at all. The wounds on the tiger didn't account for the amount of blood that was pooled there, and there were no drag marks indicating that the tiger had been moved from the blood pool. It all lead him to one conclusion, Hibiki was right, Innocence had fallen and either the Kiri ninjas had taken the body or something else had.

If it was a creature that had taken Innocence though, why would they leave the tiger? His mind raced at a million kilometers a second as he tried to work it out in his brain as too what happened, the ground was torn up, it was obvious there had been a struggle here, but the exact details still escaped him. Looking back to Natsuki with a grim look on his face, Nao would notice Amarok sniffing around the tiger carcass. With a small sigh, Nao would stand. He wouldn't say anything, not yet. There were questions filling his mind but he had to push them aside for now, they needed to focus on survival after all. They would be no use to Hibiki if they couldn't take care of themselves, she was out there he knew it but first things were first.

Gripping a Kunai, Nao would approach the Tiger. "Let's take what we can of this, everything we can carry could help us." He suggested, a somber tone in his voice as he began to skin the pelt of the carcass. They could use the pelt for something he was sure, but the meat the beast could provide was more than enough to get them through another day and was better than berries and snakes. He knew that they were low on time to find Hibiki, but she already had a decent start on them, the chances of them catching up to her were low and if they ran into the Kiri ninjas first then they would need their strength. Nao's eyes scanning the surroundings relentlessly as he worked on the carcass, keeping an eye on Natsuki to ensure the sight of blood didn't send his teammate over the edge.

"We'll find Hibiki and get to the bottom of this," he vowed, a steely resolve in his voice as he worked. "If the Kiri ninjas are still around, they'll pay for what they've done. For now though, we need to focus on our own survival. Whether Innocence is alive or not, we are no use to anyone if we don't have our strength." The jungle's oppressive heat and the cacophony of wildlife were mere distractions to Nao, his focus unyielding. With Natsuki by his side, they would uncover the truth and protect their own, no matter the cost. He doubted they would make camp so close to the blood pool, but he wasn't going to leave the tiger carcass without gathering some food for them.

Post by Natsuki Uchiha Sun Jul 21, 2024 5:10 pm

Natsuki bit his tongue at mention of Hibiki being sure about Innocence's death; two facts of the matter remained: One, the two of them weren't exactly known for being the best of friends, and Hibiki wasn't exactly the sharpest kunai in the pouch. There was the distinct possibility that Innocence had abandoned Hibiki in a way that ensured they remained separated- perhaps to save her life in what could have been a terrible encounter, or perhaps because she thought better of her own chances alone.

Either way, when they reached the clearing of an even more clear battle, Natsuki remained unconvinced. Even the pool of blood was circumstantial, possibly a convincing ploy certainly made all the more simple by one so well versed in medical shenanigans. Speaking of, his memory suddenly went back to his time at the hospital for his dog- or, as some might say, wolf- bite: There were a number of doctors there that were wearing face masks. An idea struck him as he removed his orange haori. Folding a bunch of the minty fern leaves into one of the sleeves, he bit down and began to chew them through the fabric. As he did so, the flavor of a forming pulp graced his mouth and, sharply, his nose. Natsuki then unfolded the sleeve and gripped a handful of the moist mass before refolding wrapping this makeshift poultice around his face. Carefully, he then tied the rest of his favorite shirt behind his head.

With a deep inhalation, the unpleasant air around him was suddenly filtered through an aromatic layer of what would turn out to be a medicinal herb. While he did so mostly out of a want to avoid the unpleasantness of the air, his heightened senses finding the material so agreeable was a tremendous advantage. Against whatever bodily invaders made it through the mask, or those that had prior to the mask being applied, the steady inhalation of this material would protect against them.

All of this was while Nao scoured the battlefield for any signs of how he could help Hibiki, but Natsuki was not worried. Especially if this trio, searching through at least four different methods, couldn't find Innocence, then neither could the Kiri nin, whoever they were. Perhaps she would get the drop on them and deal with them herself!

Without a hint of worry, Natsuki approached Nao and extended his hand filled with the chewed up mess of fern leaves. "Here, make a mask with this," the young Uchiha started, speaking through one of his own. "It'll make this area so much more bearable." While Hibiki's situation may have been dire, there was no telling how long they'd have to be here. If this was anything like the volcanic bridge area they were in before, they'd need at least one person focused on reducing their discomfort as possible. They didn't want to end up like Sera, Nakaba, or Kudo, after all.

Nao looked at Natsuki, his improvised mask piquing his curiosity. "Good thinking, Natsuki," he said, accepting the chewed-up fern leaves. "The air here is definitely rough. We need all the advantages we can get." He quickly fashioned a mask similar to Natsuki's and tied it securely around his face, the minty aroma a welcome relief from the oppressive jungle air. As he continued to work on the tiger carcass, his thoughts remained divided. The signs of the struggle were undeniable, and the pool of blood left little room for doubt about the severity of what had happened. Yet, a part of him clung to Natsuki's optimism. Innocence was resourceful and cunning; if anyone could survive and turn a dire situation into an advantage, it was her.

"Let's gather what we can and move quickly," Nao said, his voice muffled by the mask. "We can't stay here long. If the Kiri ninja are still around, we need to stay ahead of them." He finished skinning the tiger and began to cut off chunks of meat, wrapping them in the pelt for easier carrying. With their provisions secured, Nao stood and surveyed the area one last time. "Amarok, stay close and keep alert," he instructed the wolf, who had been sniffing around the clearing. "We need to stay sharp." He looked at Natsuki, who seemed more composed with the mask in place. " We'll find Hibiki, and if Innocence is still out there, we'll find her too." He added as he began making his way from the clearing.

They moved out of the clearing, the jungle's dense foliage once again closing in around them. Nao's Byakugan continued to scan their surroundings, looking for any sign of their missing teammate or the Kiri ninja. The path ahead was uncertain, but Nao's resolve was unwavering. They would navigate this maze of dangers, uncover the truth, and protect their own, no matter the cost. As they pressed on, Nao couldn't help but feel a renewed sense of purpose. With Natsuki's ingenuity and their combined skills, they stood a better chance of overcoming whatever challenges lay ahead. The jungle was vast and perilous, but their determination was their greatest weapon. The sounds of other beasts in the distance have him little comfort in making camp in this area.

Post by Natsuki Uchiha Tue Jul 23, 2024 6:05 pm

Natsuki nodded in affirmation; Nao's use of the word "if" was incredibly loud, but the young Uchiha was assured in his kin. The threats of this area, especially with their tremendous understanding of the area around them, paled in comparison to those that Hibiki and Inno could be facing. To that end, Natsuki kicked off in kind with his partner(s).

They would continue for a long while; just running, scanning. The reality of the difference in time, and the ground that their marks could have covered, began to sink in as Natsuki also began to feel the stalking of predators attracted to their conspicuous search. "Listen, Nao!" Natsuki cried out with a tinge of exertion, slowing slightly. "We need to take a break. They're long ahead of us and, when we find them, we'll be of no use to them drained!"

Should Nao stop, Natsuki would step in front of him and rapidly weave a couple of seals. The earth suddenly split open with a mighty crack as the forest was pushed to either side of a fissure spanning ten meters across and about ten times that in length. Natsuki motioned for Nao and Amarok to follow him to the midpoint where he wove yet more seals. "Get ready to jump!"

At the finale of these seals, slamming his hands to the ground, a familiar jutsu was performed. With a quaking far more subtle than before, a moderately thick column of stone, enough for each of them to exist comfortably, began to rise up from the center of the fissure. There would be plenty of time, but Natsuki would count them down as it rose: "Ready... 3, 2, 1, jump!" He, at least, did so- and they would rise into the sky and above the threat of terrestrial predators.

From on high, and high above the noxious air that saturated the jungle, the occasional sighting of large birds would be apparent, but they were of little consequence. From this elevated platform, and with both of their keen senses and quick reflexes, they would be safe to, once again, take a rest in shifts. With one last set of seals, Natsuki once again dropped his hands to the earth of this raised pillar and encased them in a dome of rock. While it could sap chakra, Natsuki immediately lifted his hands, interrupting such an effect. "I'll take the first watch," he would say, pulling out a length of snake meat and beginning to chow down in the dark.

The birds, the insects, perhaps even the beasties that might try to climb the pillar, would find no cracks or gaps in this shelter. As well, with the heightened senses of the two that would spend their time therein, Natsuki was unconcerned with a failure to notice a dwindling supply of oxygen. They would be fine.

[OOC: Split the earth open, creating a gap between either side and the then raised pillar while ensuring that no jungle would be atop it. Then created a dome around the three of them (assuming Nao and his pupper jumped onto the rising platform) so that no predators, big or small, could get in.]

Nao was initially reluctant to stop, but Natsuki's reasoning made sense. Exhaustion could easily lead to mistakes, and mistakes in this environment were deadly. When Natsuki suggested taking a break, Nao nodded in agreement, signaling Amarok to stay close. He watched with curiosity as Natsuki performed the earth release jutsu, creating a fissure and then a column of stone. "Alright," Nao said, preparing to jump. As the pillar began to rise, he counted down with Natsuki and leaped onto the platform just as it elevated them above the jungle floor. The oppressive heat and thick, noxious air of the jungle were replaced with a much cooler, more breathable atmosphere. The stone dome that encased them provided a secure shelter, allowing them to rest without fear of immediate threats.

"Good thinking, Natsuki," Nao said as he settled down. "We need to be at our best when we find Hibiki and Innocence." His mind running through their next steps. They couldn't afford to waste time, but they also needed to ensure they had the strength to fight if it came to that. Nao laid down, his Byakugan deactivating as he rested. He trusted Natsuki to keep watch, but his natural vigilance wouldn't allow him to fully relax. "Wake me if anything happens," he said, closing his eyes and letting himself drift into a light sleep. The rest was brief but necessary. When it was Nao's turn to take watch, he awoke with a renewed sense of energy. Activating his Byakugan once more, he looked out from their high vantage point, scanning the horizon for any signs of movement.

The jungle below seemed endless, "Natsuki," he said softly, not wanting to startle his teammate, "it's my turn now. Get some rest. We'll need to be ready to move in a few hours." As Natsuki settled down to sleep, Nao kept his focus sharp. The jungle was alive with sounds, but up here, they were safe for the moment. He thought about their mission, about Hibiki and Innocence, and about the Kiri ninja who were likely still pursuing them. The challenges ahead were daunting, but Nao was resolute. They would find their friends, no matter what. After Natsuki got some rest they would be able to move on and continue tracking to hopefully find Hibiki, though he had his doubts about finding Innocence.

It was an uneventful watch. The newly towering stone certainly caught the attention of some creatures, and Natsuki felt the jungle come alive as activity swirled towards the edges of the fissure.  All manner of big cats, snakes, and insects- large and small- congregated for a long while before dispersing once the novelty would prove fruitless for them. Some of the birds and flight-inclined insects ascended to the top of the pillar, probing the stone structure for purchase, but it was in vain.

In the silent dark, as Natsuki felt their curiosity, he simply waited. His observations made Nao's short rest pass by all the quicker, and it was soon his time to do the same. He nodded to the Hyuuga before realizing the complete darkness would obfuscate such a gesture and affirming vocally: "You got it!"

"The jungle seems to have acclimated to our presence, and I haven't sensed any approaching shinobi. It should be an easy watch." With that, the young Uchiha laid back on the stone floor, content with its rigidity, and closed his eyes to rest.

Unless Nao were to wake him, he would take the few hours and be ready to hit the ground running immediately. He would weave the same seals as before, lowering the risen platform in-line with the edges of the fissure, before offering Nao the opportunity to blast a hole in the side.

If he did, and if he ran out, Natsuki would follow.

Nao remained vigilant as the minutes ticked by. He watched the subtle movements in the jungle below, noting the ebb and flow of the nocturnal creatures. The stone pillar had indeed drawn attention, but nothing substantial enough to worry about. His Byakugan allowed him to see through the darkness with ease, scanning for any signs of danger or pursuit. His mind drifted to Hibiki, the uncertainty of completing this stage of the Chuunin Exams, and the Kiri ninja they had encountered. He wondered about Hibiki's condition and whether Innocence had managed to evade capture. The uncertainty gnawed at him, but he pushed those thoughts aside, focusing on the task at hand.

Natsuki needed rest, and it was his duty to keep watch. When the time came, Nao moved quietly to Natsuki's side, gently shaking him awake. "It's time," he whispered, rousing the other man awake. "I didn't see any signs of shinobi or major threats. The jungle's settled down." Natsuki stirred, acknowledging Nao's words with a nod and he performed the hand seals, and the stone column began to lower. As it descended, Nao prepared his own set of hand seals. The platform aligned with the edges of the fissure, and Nao took a deep breath. "Let's move," he said, before extending his hand and releasing the built up Raiton at the wall,  creating an opening large enough for them to exit. The sound was muted, controlled to avoid drawing too much attention, but it was enough to clear their path.

They moved back into the jungle, the cooler air and temporary respite having refreshed them. Nao took the lead, his Byakugan active, guiding them through the dense foliage. "We'll head north," he said, "I saw a small river earlier. It might help cover our tracks as well as give us a direction to follow." He moved swiftly and silently, his senses sharp and his resolve unwavering. They had a job to complete, and nothing would stand in their way. Nao knew without a doubt that they would find another scroll and make their way to the next stage of the exams, but his mind still wandered on Hibiki and hoped that she was ok and that they would find her soon enough.

As expected, Nao was on it. Hibiki was in danger and, while Innocence was assuredly fine, he seemed to harbor worry for her as well. Natsuki, for his part, would continue to follow as the one who could communicate with their ally led the way.

While their superior sensory abilities would ensure that the jungle would not surprise them, their tunnel vision on finding the girl of iron would pose challenges of its own. They were not to find Hibiki, the Kiri nin, nor Innocence. If they were lucky, perhaps they would at least find a scroll, but that was now a secondary objective. After all, if Innocence had to play dead, then their enemies might be out for blood.

"We'll find them," Natsuki assured with a stern confidence rising from his chest. "Both of them!"

Team 4: Day 2 Prep Empty Re: Team 4: Day 2 Prep

Post by Lily Thu Jul 25, 2024 4:16 pm

As Lily & Hisha made their way through the hell maze of stairs, similar to when she had found a pathway to the cave with the team of 3 shinobi, she would find another path. Asking Hisha to wait, Lily would slip into the hole, finding a tunnel similar to the one she used as well. Given this was the second tunnel, Lily wondered if these were meant as ventilation tubes in the same way one would vent smoke from a forge; but like, for clean air instead. She wouldn't wonder long however as she'd spot a way back into the jungle, and Lily would jump at the opportunity since it meant they could get some more food and water. This time though Lily had left the bird alongside the backpack, since the area they had found the tunnel was rather tame and being forced to lose the scroll because of her actions was...well it wouldn't be good.

As she unknowingly moved through one of the best made tunnels in this exam (having been made to be damn-near sensory proof against everything but the most restricted of sensory abilities thanks to a dare made by one of the crafters of this maze that they could slip it in without the Hokage noticing) Lily looked for a spot where she could leave the tunnel to gather resources. Instead, Lily would find something much, much more interesting in the form of a place she could peek through and could see two people. One of them she didn't recognize, but the other was Number 43 himself.

She felt a small pit in her stomach as she saw him. As much as she'd like to help him and honor the deceased, they had to put on a show. Preforming the transformation technique, Lily would alter her appearance into a very vivid appearance, then used her shadow clone technique to make 3 clones of herself which dashed down the tunnel as fast as they could; popping out from a hole hidden by one of the root systems of the tree; directly into the duo's sensory for an ambush while Lily watched from safety. As tempting as it was to go out herself, she couldn't allow another incident like the first attempted jumping.

What the duo would see would likely haunt them for a while, at least that was what Lily intended. Two of Lily's clones would take on the deceased appearance of Innocence, making sure to keep the bloody marks upon her clothes with a stitch line across where the cut would've been. Lily did make other small alteration; the eyes. She'd make them white like the stories of the dead she had been told of. Perhaps it would be a mistake down the road, but Lily had to make sure that she wasn't recognized, and taking the appearance of a dead woman, while cruel (unknowingly so given Natsuki's relationship), would make for a good show. The other clone though would take on the metal form Hibiki had used against them.

She could live with taking the role of the heel; she wasn't exactly a face anyways.

The three clones would make sure to strike fast, the Innocence clones drawing their cosmic katana's quickly; one clone targeted their blade right behind Nao's knees to force him to the ground, while one focused on Natsuki's waist. The Hibiki clone though would target their satchel, making sure to cut as many items as she could that fell out (sans the scroll; she had to be careful not to strike the scroll lest Natsuki fail here) and grabbing anything she could before retreating; running as hard as she could using the knowledge of the jungle to go as far as she could before dumping the items and poofing. She didn't expect her clones to last long, especially as all the sharp ends of the blades were facing away from their targets. The strikes would still hurt, sure, but they wouldn't be able to kill; likely bruise or lightly injure at worst.

The goal was simple: make it seem like Hibiki was the one to strike and sabotage, using the dead form of Innocence to distract them. Lily in fact didn't expect the Innocence clones to live long, having them to their best to avoid being struck until the Hibiki clone escaped. And if they managed to strike and poof the Hibiki clone? Oh well, it was no loss on her part.

Not really caring to see the outcome, Lily would consume another Military Ration Pill and return back to Hisha, having never left the tunnel in the first place. As nice as it would have been to get the scroll from them, she had a soft alliance after all; no need to ruin that when Hisha made whatever remained precarious at best.

Suddenly, Nao's Byakugan picked up movement. Three figures burst from the ground, rushing towards them with alarming speed. Nao's eyes widened as he recognized the visage of Innocence, though something was off. The eyes, the unnatural pallor, these were not ordinary foes. "Innocence?" Nao's voice was tinged with disbelief, but there was no time to process. The first figure, resembling Innocence, aimed a strike behind his knees. Nao tried to dodge, but the attack connected, forcing him to the ground with a sharp pain. However he would quickly get back to his feet and deliver a quick jab that would cause Innocence to disperse in a puff of smoke. "Natsuki, it's a trick!" he shouted.

The second figure, also resembling Innocence, targeted Natsuki while the third figure, mimicking Hibiki, slashed at Natsuki's satchel, spilling its contents. Nao reacted quickly, launching a lightning bolt at the figure, which poofed into smoke, dropping the stolen items before they could be carried away. "They're using genjutsu or transformation techniques," Nao muttered, frustration evident in his voice. "Stay alert. There might be more." They gathered their scattered belongings, Nao's mind racing. Who was behind this? And why mimic Hibiki and Innocence? The questions piled up, but there was no time for answers. They needed to keep moving, keep searching. "Let's go," Nao urged, leading the way once more. "We can't afford to be distracted. Not now."

Chakra?! The sudden appearance of three assailants was bewildering. Of any of the groups in this exam, Natsuki was confident that he and Nao would not be caught off guard like this. Still, he was not without his ability to respond.

In one swift motion, Natsuki gripped the hilt of the Singing Tempest and twisted his body while drawing it in a slicing arc towards the clone. His other sword at his hip, he would position it in the path of the incoming strike to block as his target came into view. "Innocence?" The name came too late, Natsuki too committed to retaliate against an enemy so surprising and of a signature that was not an ally. It only took an instant, as his new blade met the neck of its first "human" foe in his hands, for the horrific image to burn into his keen eyes.

Her clothes, disheveled and stained in blood; her body, grotesquely stitched across her legs for reasons unknown; and her eyes, a ghostly and uncanny white. Even as her form faded in a puff of smoke, Natsuki could not unsee her.

    "Natsuki, it's a trick!"

These words fell on deaf ears, little more than a low rumble as Natsuki froze in place. His sword still extended to the his side, only his eyes would react. Rising tears welled as his pupils trembled, but it was the twisting red that swirled across his cornea that was most notable. A familiar tinge of pain struck the young Uchiha as the jungle was coated in red, but he could not close them. He could do nothing.

That was when "Hibiki" struck, slashing at the satchel, cutting and felling many morsels of snake meat to the jungle floor- ruined. Just as quickly as this started, with Nao poofing this last clone, it was over.

"Stay alert. There might be more."

The sword fell limply to his side as his entire body faltered. Natsuki turned to Nao with his unintended sharingan still active. Not since the beast attacked Konoha had it appeared this long, but he wasn't even aware of it. He wasn't alert; he was uncomfortably light, still reeling.

"Let's go," Nao continued, but Natsuki barely eked out one staggered step forward. Then another, and another; his pace slightly quickening as his face blinked, his sharingan receded, and his head began to stabilize. "We can't afford to be distracted. Not now."

Nao was right but, for a moment, Natsuki had killed Innocence. No... It wasn't her... His pace rose steadily with his heartrate as his mind raced like Nao's. It was that girl from the test... But why would she use those forms... And how..? There was only one explanation- that she was part of the Kiri team that encountered Innocence and Hibiki, that they had seen Hibiki using her Kekkei Genkai. But then... The horrifying image flashed before his eyes again, with the stitching across the legs; too specific and unintuitive if horror was the goal- Why not across the neck? There it was again; buried deep since first he heard the suggestion, but ever present.

    Inno... Are you okay?

As the clones of Lily popped and the memories of what occurred slipped into her mind, the events would play out as she returned back to Hisha.

To say the operation was a success was...well it worked in a way, but it did confirm a few things. First and foremost the woman's name was indeed Innocence. No last name which was a pain, but every bit of information counted. What was more curious though were the reactions, both physically and emotionally. The first clone that had targeted the Purple eye'd boy had good reaction time, but not clearly enough to beat her at her best. Hopefully he'd realize that he was extremely lucky in that she had targeted him using the back of the katana blade instead of the cutting edge, as if she hadn't chosen such a tactic he likely would have met a similar fate as Innocence. In a way it really was annoying that she did die; not only was she down an ally, but it was clear from the proctor's reaction that eyes would be placed on them, so she'd have to be more careful.

As for the second Innocence clone...that one was more concerning. She was sure that she could beat him in a direct sword fight now that she had an idea on not only his tools, but also that should she apply herself she could give him a run for his money. His movements though had her a little concerned though; normally she'd be hard to pin down, but it was like he had watched her move with little difficulty. To bring a sword up to precisely block while using another to strike...when she made it to Round Three of these exams she'd have to be careful of him.

The problematic info though was what the OTHER clone, the metal woman clone, had seen in Number 43's eyes, or rather the eyes themselves. Even though they had failed to get anything from their sabotage physically away, those red eyes Number 43 had reminded her of the proctor who took away Innocence's body. They were different, the proctor had rage boiling behind her eyes while his felt...shocked. Not surprising given that Innocence said he was a friend, but he had frozen, which implied something more. She could have imagined it, but she could have sworn she had seen a glint of light; tears forming.

Playing the heel indeed. Perhaps she had made a mistake.
It was too late for that now though. Burying those concerned for now, Lily would return to Hisha, her resolve steeled as she started to run various scenarios of how to fight those who she had met in this exam in her head.

The jumpsuit guy who caught her and his mysterious two allies
Hisha and his justu, be it water or illusion
The metal woman who Lily wasn't even sure if she could pierce.
The purple and red eye'd duo who could give her a run for her money

She would find a way to beat them all if need be, prove she was the strongest.

    {Exit}

I had forgotten to exit in my invasion, so uh, have an exit post as well.
