It had been far too long since Tōri had practiced the basics of the sealing arts, heading to the training grounds he found an empty room for practicing the sealing arts before getting a clean scroll to work with and a pot of ink and quill. Wetting his pen he began with the simplest of seals that allowed for the storing of all sorts of tools and objects. Even Ninjutsu could be sealed within, the limits being the length at which one's imagination and intellect could take them. After finishing the inscription he placed the quill in its ceramic holder before blowing on the ink and trickling the smallest amount of chakra into the seal that brought it to life with a hint of a shimmer across its black surface.

'Bunny Arrival' :

Smiling Tōri wrapped the parchment up and placed it to the side for later use as he prepared a fresh scroll for his next piece to practice on. This one would require inscriptions on paper to be placed at four different anchor points to raise a barrier that has an underlying trap laid within it for those that dissolve the barrier’s erection. Ripping a piece of paper into four pieces he began inscribing them all with the necessary seals before flinging them to the four corners of the room before enacting the jutsu, targeting the door as the point to erect his barrier. Forming four clones Tōri commanded them to each pull at the seals at the same time to release the barrier, having elected to omit the trap within the seal no duplicates flung forth to make a mess of the tidy room. Adding that bit was trivial and with the practice now he was confident in his use in the field.

'Bunny Arrival' :

The next was an incredibly useful technique, one that should save him some money from the shinobi market if he keeps up with his studies and doesn’t slack off. The Explosive Tag Seal was a simple but effective one, something that he didn’t want to test at full strength when indoors. Making sure to inscribe the seal with far less punch packed within its inky depths than usually dolled out. Once complete he tossed it into the air after igniting it with a trickle of chakra. The tag was set on a quick timer and went off with a small pop shortly after being thrown into the air. Satisfied with his work and the properly timed and stored energy so as to not make a mess he looked with dread at his next one, knowing that he would require the use of more clones to get this done and things would quickly get cramped again in the small room.

'Bunny Arrival' :

Once more erecting the Five-Seal Barrier with the four pieces of hastily inscribed paper Tōri created four clones, one of which went to the door and he practiced accessing the barrier directly to allow the clone to exit the premises while still maintaining the barrier to anyone else. It was more difficult than he initially assumed it would be, the concentration required to maintain both was more taxing than he would have thought. Finally satisfied with the connection to both he willed the clone to exit, which it did without issue. He then went to see if another clone could exit without permission to ensure that the barrier was still working properly. The clone moved and was promptly stopped by the barrier, the clone struggled briefly before giving up with a smile on its face at the job well done. Releasing all of the clones along with the barrier Tōri sighed with exhaustion, only one left and already he was feeling close needing a break.

The final exercise of the day was an incredibly useful one that Tōri remembered fondly and hadn’t put it to good use in far too long. Breaking out a clean scroll he grabbed a kunai from his bag after rummaging around in it for far too long and set it aside for sealing. Inscribing the simple seal on the parchment Tōri quickly released the inkling of chakra to seal the ninja tool away with a poof of smoke. Now that the tool was sealed he took the parchment and cut around the inscription, taking a roll of white wrapping tape to secure it to his forearm. Now that the seal was in a place where it could be summoned for quick and easy access he jumped into the air and swiped his finger across the seal, poofing the kunai back into existence where his hand was there to snatch it from its floating position. Spinning around he launched the kunai across the room as it lodged itself above the door, slowly getting down and retrieving the tool and placing it back into his pack. Untying the wraps he places the bundles of cloth and seal on the desk before stretching and getting up to take a well earned break.

It had been too long since Tōri had used the outside of the training grounds and today’s exercises were not well suited for the confines of the office where he had been practicing the day before. It truly was a crime that he hadn’t made better use of these grounds, they even had places for him to practice the sealing arts. Chastising himself for not being more diligent he made sure to redouble his efforts and stop lazing about. Today’s first item on the docket was a simple but dangerously effective sounding seal that he wanted a clone to properly test its use with. Forming the duplicate of himself he swiftly inscribed the seal and slapping it on to the forehead of the clone. He watched as his face became withered, grabbing the forehead of his clone he began to slowly drain the chakra from its weakening form. It quickly became apparent that this chakra was draining extraordinarily slowly and he released the seal and his clone and swiped the paper from its forehead before it dispersed its form entirely. Happy with the results he was sure he could improve upon this seal's design, there was something there that needed some extra oomph put into it that he was sure he could figure out.

There was tremendous application with the seal used in this next exercise, Tōri immediately thought of the potential synergy of using the chakra chains his heritage afforded him in tandem with this seal. It wouldn’t be the most applicable in fast-paced combat, as it often was, but with the right set up and restraint-oriented techniques this could prove quite useful in missions where the target need be captured alive. Still, Tōri struggled with a proper way to exercise this seal, he began with the pulling out of the scroll that he’d prepared with the inscription required to use the technique. Lying it on the ground he formed a clone and made them stand on top of the seal. Enacting the seal he could see the clone make a visible reaction as its chakra network was cut off. They formed a seal to try and release a simple Ninjutsu but was unable to do so, looking to the original with a smile at the success. Standing off the scroll the clone scooped it up and returned it to his creator who stored it away in his pack. There was an obvious synergy with his adamantine chains, though Tōri was still hesitant to pull those out too often. A shinobi’s arsenal should be one of secrecy, a fact that he was quite conscious of having the bloodline from another hidden village. This heritage had helped foster a sense of secrecy when it came to his fight style, not wanting to advertise to the world his twin bloodlines.

This next one was going to be a pain to properly test, it was a seal that knocked a person out for five days before its effects were able to be clearly seen. Tōri would have to dial it back a little to be able to see the results within his training session, there was still much he had on the docket of the day and he didn’t have the time to be babysitting a single technique that he wasn’t sure would even get the most use in the field. To properly make use of this one he imagined a Taijutsu user would have the easiest time actually applying this in combat, a skill that Tōri wasn’t that talented in. There was always room for improvement, but today wasn’t about bettering his hand to hand combat skills but his sealing arts. Taking the scroll from his pack Tōri began unraveling it and reading the contents. This seal simply required focusing chakra into the user’s fingertips before jabbing them into a person's stomach to lay the seal down. Creating a kage bunshin he looked to his duplicate with sorrowful eyes before thrusting his hand towards their stomach and releasing the seal that inscribed the formula onto his clone’s chest through their clothes. Looking down the clone immediately had a fatigued face as they helplessly tried to mould chakra with no luck. Glad that the seal seemed to be working he placed his hand over the clone’s stomach and released the seal, the clone quickly tested and succeeded in moulding chakra before poofing themselves out of existence.

While Tōri had yet to sign any contracts with shinobi summon animals he had certainly encountered them in his many years of service. The ability to sever a connection with a summon seemed a powerful tool that he would definitely be able to make use of on the job. Breaking out the scroll that outlined this technique he gave it a quick read before hailing a junior shinobi he saw training at the grounds with him, waving him over after getting his attention. He recalled that the lad had a summoning contract and wanted to test it out on his. Thankfully the junior shinobi was over the moon to be asked to join and immediately agreed after the exercise was explained to him. His sparring partner summoned one of the famous toads from Mount Myōboku, Tōri placed his hand to the ground as a formula spiraled out from his palm with the technique initiating. The sprawling inscription of the seal snaked its way towards the toad where it ballooned into a large swirling inscription that yanked the summoning control away from the junior shinobi. This unfortunately didn’t do much as the summon wasn't forced to fight for its summoner, this seemed to be more intended for creatures that were being controlled with such a process. Tōri thanked his comrade and promised to do some more training with him sometime soon to which the younger shinobi promised to hold him to. Somewhat disappointed in the results, the technique seemed like a much more niche use than he’d originally thought it would be.

This next one was the technique he’d been thinking of earlier that created a doppelganger of whoever broke the seal to fight them as a trap, something that would be incredibly useful as a delaying agent. Setting up the barrier once more with the four seals placed on parchment across the training yard he formed a large boulder to act as his focal point for the barrier. Once set up he attempted to force his way through the barrier to no avail, glad that side of things still worked. He then inlaid the trap with each seal, the set up for this was more complicated than he’d thought, but then again it was no simple trap he was setting up. Now sure that each seal had been properly set up he formed four clones to test his work out with. Each of them went to pull the inscribed pieces of parchment from their locations, shortly after duplicates of each of them rose from the ground and engaged each of the clones. The original now went to smash the rock used as the barrier which was easily brought down with some carefully grown roots from trees he blossomed all over the boulders surface. Crushing the rock he now watched as his clones engaged with clones of themselves, he really should have made each of the clones change their appearance so it wasn’t so homogenous a group to fight one another. Lending each of his clones a hand they quickly dispersed of the trap and were able to clean everything up before dispersing the clones and heading home for the day.

Today’s exercise centered around using Suiton, it had been far too long since he’d practiced the basics so he decided to work his way up with some easy warm ups before getting seriously back into the swing of things. With just a few hand seals Tōri released the bullet of water across the training field, colliding with one of the many trees offered as target practice. It was nice to be able to have such amenities, he really did need to make sure to take advantage of these training grounds more often. With the compressed bullet of Suiton colliding with the tree an explosion of bark scattered across the field as he smiled in success. There were plenty of more basic techniques like this one to get through, he wanted to keep his momentum going and moved right into the next one as he began moulding Suiton chakra once more. He had forgotten how good it felt to stretch his suiton muscles, it was an element that he felt a close connection with his late father with.

Moving from one water technique to the next Tōri swiftly formed the Tiger seal and released a bullet of water from his lips, roaring across the training grounds before drilling into a stone on the far end of the field. The technique was a success, though the power seemed to be a little low, even for him. These offensive oriented Suiton techniques were always a hassle for him and required a little more oomph to get working. Drawing on even more chakra he released the same technique, seeing what he knew he should have seen before as it propelled this time towards a nearby tree. It similarly spewed bark across the field as the technique before, being almost the same with the key benefit of having only one hand seal to perform. Glad that there were some low hand seals requiring jutsu to be able to utilize more jutsu quickly. It was an aspect of most jutsu that he simply hadn’t really payed attention to before and was something he’d certainly need to keep in mind when coming up with his own techniques.

There was plenty of applicable use with this next one, being entirely stealth oriented and allowed for a terrific level of transformation. The ability to manipulate ones body with Ninjutsu was simply astounding, this technique was a terrific example of this and he was excited to start with practicing it once more. Heading over to the little puddle of water formed from his previous techniques he enacted this technique, no hand seals required he simply moulded his chakra into the Suiton element and slipped into the pool of water. The world seemed far larger from his new perspective, looking out from the pool with the utmost stealth. Only a sensory user or one of those spicy dōjutsu his village was home to so many of. Regardless he waited for a bit before jumping out of the pool, not wanting to startle any other training shinobi unnecessarily. After that he decided to try out one last Suiton technique before calling it a day.

Tōri had been the most excited to revisit this last technique, it was one that he fondly recall practicing with in his early days as a shinobi when he discovered his affinity for Suiton. These water clones were far weaker than their shadow clone counterparts, but they had terrific use for those adept with Suiton jutsu. The clones themselves could be used as mediums or half mediums for jutsu requiring water as they themselves were made of it. It was such an intriguing aspect that after revisiting it today he swore to write some notes on the technique to think up any derivatives that might aid him. Forming the single seal required he formed a clone from the remnants of his previous jutsu, a duplicate of him stared back with satisfaction at the success. Punching at the clone his doppelganger defended against the strike but was overwhelmed due to his stunted power and broke back into the puddle it had formed from.

Thankfully the final one of this set was simple and also terribly helpful for one so Suiton oriented as himself. Forming the three needed signs a torrent of water erupted from the ground, forming a gurgling base to a small artificial creek that formed in the training grounds center. With some quick manipulations to the terrain with some stealthy roots winding underneath he created a path for the water to run that shouldn’t disrupt too many in these large training grounds. There really was just so much space here to work with, the facilities reflecting how well Konoha had done for themselves in previous years. Tōri was curious how well the other hidden village’s training grounds were, it was hard for him to picture such pristine training grounds in the likes of Iwagakure or Sunagakure but the other flourishing nations likely had similar setups. It had been too long since Tōri had been on a mission outside of the village, though he had never directly visited any of the other hidden villages himself.

It had been some time since Tōri had practiced Raiton, choosing to take the day to amending this lapse in his training. Heading to the training facility he went to an area with plentiful targets for him to use, moulding his chakra to the familiar element. Forming several hand seals a series of glowing orbs materialized before him and shot off towards the largest, forming better than they were aimed as only two made their mark. The majority of the barrage singed the stone wall behind the targets, prompting Tōri to weave through the seals once more with eyes narrowing as he made sure to focus on their aim far more intently this time. Once more the volley of electric orbs flew forth, this time only two missed their mark, all the targets along the wall now singed with a single mark each. Happy with the results he then turned into attention inward as he prepared himself for the next technique.

With three hand signs once again Tōri leapt right into the next exercise as raiton chakra manifested in his hand taking the form of an amorphic arrow before hurling it at one of the targets. The arrow looked a little wobbly, its trajectory was thrown off by the unrefined shape and it skewed off course into the wall. Leaving behind a smokey scorch mark Tōri formed the seals once more, this time taking the time to properly mould the chakra into a more stable form before winding up his shot and throwing the projectile. This time it soared in a straight line towards its target, colliding with a resounding clap that left its mark with a smoking, blackened surface. Glad to have gotten the two offensive focused techniques out of the way he had only left some supplementary ones that were sure to prove useful when out on missions away from the village.

Requiring only a single hand seal, this next exercise was reviewing the signal fire technique, one that would be invaluable for being able to make a rudimentary flare with no materials necessary. Forming the one seal with his right hand he pointed his other hand up towards the sky, releasing a spark of raiton chakra that shot forth with tremendous speed before erupting. Or rather, that’s what it should have done, instead after shooting into the sky the bolt of raiton chakra simply fizzled out without releasing the eye-catching spectacle that it was meant to be. Forming the seal once more Tōri closed his eyes and focused before releasing the moulded chakra, the bolt now screaming into the air before lighting up the sky with its brilliant yellow light.

With three rapid hand seals Tōri moulded doton chakra within his chest before moving up into his mouth as he pursed his lips before firing the stone bullet at the foot-level target head that was blinded a moment earlier. It was always a strange sensation building a physical substance like stone with chakra alone and spitting it up, it was a capability of doton he desired to tamper with in his own works. The stone bullet flew through the air before puncturing the head of the target, denting its face inward while maintaining its shape with the small size of the projectile. It looked like the rock was lodged in the middle of the head, not having come out the other side. Again forming the three seals he fired another one, this one ripping far faster and blasting a hole through the dent made previously and exploding into tiny shards against the wall behind the target.

Lastly prepared for today was dipping his toes into his suiton element, one that he felt a close attachment to his late father with. Perhaps this is why he had been slacking it of late, though there were a plethora of other reasons that could be blamed as well. This technique was incredibly useful for slowing and even halting a target's movements. Having a wide area of effect it was useful against groups as well, though it required the targets to be on the ground. Weaving several hand seals he spewed a viscous spray of water that spread into a field around him, threatening to keep whatever entered its sticky domain firmly in place. Satisfied with its formation he released the technique with a deluge of additional normal water from his mouth, clearing the hazard from anyone else that wanted to use the field later that day. Having spent quite a bit of his reserves he decided to head home and rest, ready for another intensive training session.
