Just Breathe

Ren would sit alone in the dark of his room, he had been trying for hours to sleep and yet sleep would not come. Finally he gave up and sat up on his bed, something was wrong. He couldn't tell if it was him, the bed, the utter and complete silence of the world around him, but he knew something was wrong. After hours of trying different things, Ren felt as though he was going to go crazy. There was a sudden flash of lightning outside followed by the crack of thunder a few seconds after, a storm was coming. Another flash and Ren suddenly found himself standing in the living room of his house, how he got there a mystery to him but not as mysterious as what he saw in the living room. The sun shining through the window and a woman sitting meditating on the floor, it was not just some random woman either, Ren knew her but he had not seen her for a very long time. He thought for sure that he was hallucinating her, there was no way that she could be there. He crept towards her and heard the creaking of the floorboards as the woman's eyes flew open and looked at him. Then in a voice he had not heard in so long would say, "So times you just have to connect yourself to the world around you, Meditate with me. You will see." Without question or hesitation Ren would rush forward sitting in front of the woman doing his best to mirror her, his eyes looking her up and down still amazed by the fact that she was here. "Close your eyes, Ren. Close your eyes and just breathe." She stated in a firm voice that caused him to do as she instructed and close his eyes as he tried to empty his mind of thoughts and just breathe.

Ren would open his eyes to the darkness of night that it had been before, the woman now gone, he sat alone in the living room of the house. There was no longer flashing lightning or the sound of rolling thunder, it was quiet and Ren could feel the very fabric of the world around him. Standing and looking around, Ren would begin to walk from the living room feeling as though he could finally get the sleep that had been avoiding him. Pausing just before fully exiting the living room he would look over his shoulder to the spot where the woman had sat, "Thank you, Mother."
