    Operation Shieldbreaker Empty Operation Shieldbreaker

    Spoiler:

    Operation Shieldbreaker WIcOLIN

The distance from the rooftop to the Quark Transmodifer was not great. What made the journey difficult was the obstacles rather than the distance. The artificial Bijuu was guarding one of its most sensitive body parts with a sea of flying puppets. The constructs appeared to manifest from nearly every corner of its surface. The size and make of the puppets varied greatly. Some appeared to be insectoid, others were squid-like and a select few even had a human appearance. The majority of the puppets weren't even operated by strings. They flew threw the air, free of any kind of tether, and attacked anything that got close to them. Kitsuki knew nothing about Kugutsu but even with her limited experience, she understood that no mere mortal mind could conceive of such a monstrosity.

Zizz, on the other hand, was a Universal Builder. She had an intuitive sense of creation. Normally there was little to gleam for standard objects but something this massive sparked memories within her. Centuries worth of engineering, bio-technology and spiritual enlightenment had been taught to her. It was time to put that knowledge to use.

ⵉ'ⵍⵍ ⴳo ⴼoⵔⵡⴰⵔⴷ ⴽⵉⵜⵙⵓⴽⵉ! ⵉ'ⵍⵍ ⴼⵉⵏⴷ ⵜⵀⴻ ⵡⴻⴰⴽ ⵙpoⵜ!
    Got it!

Zizz shrank to the size of a dot and burst forward at the speed of light. The pinprick of an Angel weaved itself through the never ending flow of puppets to reach the Quark Transmodifer. Its goal was singular: find the shield's weak point and give Kit the energy needed to smash it. While Zizz provided lightspeed reconnaissance, Kit needed to find a way around the puppets. They weren't particularly strong nor were their arsenals a mortal threat to her durability. However, their volume threatened her flight suit which was her only means of levitation. Given how rare the ability was, if she lost her power to stay in the air then the shinobi forces might lose a tactical boon. She was more good in the air than she was on the ground. For even with the gravity anomalies that the Kujira gave off, sustained flight would allow her to rain endless terror down on the Xenobeasts from above and rescue those who might be trapped in the many skyscrapers which dotted the island.

Protecting the Quantum Meruit Armour while advancing on the transmodifier was difficult business. It was a delicate dance of violence and precision. Kitsuki used her cane to bat away the puppets. She didn't need to use the Amicus Curiae's explosive properties. She could accomplish total demolition on her strength alone. A metallic eagle aimed from above and she broke its beak along with its body in a swift blow. A phoenix-like puppet sprang up from in front of her and she gave it the same treatment. Between strikes, she twirled her cane to build force and momentum before applying it to her opponents. Each blow caused a burst of kinetic force loud enough to be heard across the Emporium. The battery of puppets kept coming. The swarm threatened to overwhelm her unless she constantly moved positions. Anytime she got too close to the transmodifer, a wall of machines blocked her progress. Even with the power of Time Release and her unmatched strength, she was outgunned. A fast moving serpent of a machine snaked its way past its comrades aiming for her flight suit's engines, a golden flash erupted from around Kit and its movement slowed considerably. She was able to crush it just before it reached her. The diversion of her attention for a mere moment was enough time to allow a lance to slip past her line of sight. The blade came perilously close to piercing one of the wings on her armour. She managed to throw up a hand just in time causing it to be impaled.

What the hell made this thing?!

Kit hadn't been this badly injured in years. She tore out the lance and slammed it into another incoming puppet. The blood that now leaked from her palm was staining the white of her armour. A ruined aesthetic was the least of her priorities but it still somehow irked her. She was a lady of the WASP and she had been taught that appearances mattered. Even now. Especially now. The people needed to believe that hope wasn't lost. They needed to see that Angels still roamed the Heavens and protected the Earth. She wasn't sure where Headmaster Sukimori was at a time like this, but she knew he'd gladly give his life so as to preserve not just the innocents of the Emporium but for what the city stood for.

    Peace. Prosperity. Perfection.

Kitsuki was reminded of her commitment to him and herself after the Chuunin Exams. She would not falter, not even for a second so long as there were others to protect. Kitsuki continued to battle the host of puppets. The Indaina Kujira had to have had human-like intelligence as she noticed that the automatons were now changing tactics. They were moving in unorthodox patterns and utilizing complicated strategies to keep her at bay.  She was forced to snap on her Time Sphere more than once as a last minute defense against a particularly crafty puppet. In a heartbeat the space around her froze in time and her opponents crashed against a bubble of pure chronos. Zizz's power had saved Kit countless times. An arrow meant for her heart was stopped just in the nick of time, a spray of electrical energy was whisked away to the same spot seven minutes from now and the heat of a lazer beam was slowed to a snail's pace before it could tarnish her lovely natural locks. She was keeping them at bay for now, but she could not do so forever.

While Kit fought, Zizz busied herself analyzing the Quark Transmodifier from every angle. No matter how small she shrank, she could not get past the barrier. Luckily, at quantum size she was able to glean more information about the artificial organ and how it functioned. It was drawing particles from around itself, recycling the matter, transmuting it and then spitting out more puppets. No matter how many of them Kitsuki destroyed, it would just make more. This Bijuu could outlast an entire army so long as its Transmodifier was kept in tact. A small streak of gold could be seen zipping around the glowing red artifice. It was covered in a complex web of timestreaks as Kitsuki analyzed it from a multiplicity of time points. From a human's perspective the process should have taken aeons but for Zizz it was a few short minutes. The second she was done, she was back on Kit's shoulder. The Angel communicated the exact angle and timing at which Kitsuki should strike if she hoped to break the shield. The two were so well in-sync they might as well have been one. Kitsuki's body was flooded with grace and she knew it was now or never.

She darted straight for the Transmodfier. The puppets came faster now and in greater waves. They had noticed that she was abandoning all pretense of defense and evasion. She was now fighting through them with all of her might. Since she was throwing caution to the wind, her suit was more vulnerable. Attacks that she might have previously been able to avoid now landed and as they did, the suit was worn down. She was careful to focus on maintaining her wings but entire portions of her armour were pierced by a myriad of attacks. Despite the torrent against her, Zizz spurred her on. The Angel amplified her desire to do good and forced it back into her spirit. The process caused her eyes to glow with golden energy and soon even her thoughts were melded with the Angel's. This monster could not be allowed to leave this fight. The world itself was at stake. All of the people she had met throughout her life. All the people she had managed to save during the War.

    I. WILL. ⴼⵉⴳⵀⵜ. ⴼoⵔ. ⵜⵀⴻⵎ.

Kitsuki had never really expressed herself in the Angel's language before. She could understand it but it was never really in her wheelhouse to speak it. But now that her heart was so filled with the glory of justice, it seemed like the only language which could truly express how she felt. Wave after wave of enemies attempted to stop her but she broke through all of them. She swung her cane with such gusto and speed that eventually one of the puppets managed to disarm her. The weapon tumbled out of her hand and plummeted to the Earth. She did not stop to chase after it. Items could be replaced, people could not. Sensing the critical danger she posed to its transmodifier, the Indaina Kujira directed a bright red energy beam towards her. It was fired from the transmodifier as a last ditch effort to slow her down. Kitsuki, with her outstretched left hand, fired a beam of pure Chronokinetic energy in reply. The Unyielding Grace slowed the beam and gave her just enough time to approach. Kit winded back her right hand as she prepared to make contact with the Quark Transmodifier.

In the heat of battle, Kitsuki cried out what prior to this moment had only been a language of the unspoken. A code of signals, frequencies and vibrations that was just a pale imitation of an ancient tongue. She spoke aloud the third commitment she had made before Hagoromo's Comet. It was a promise to herself and to the world.

"ⵜo ⴱⵔⵉⵏⴳ ⵍⵉⴳⵀⵜ ⴰⵏⴷ ⵊⵓⵙⵜⵉⵛⴻ ⵜo ⵜⵀⴻ ⵡoⵔⵍⴷ, ⵜo ⵠⴰⵏⵇⵓⵉⵙⵀ ⴻⵠⵉⵍ ⵉⵏ ⴰⵍⵍ ⵉⵜⵙ ⴼoⵔⵎⵙ, ⵜo ⵛⵔⴻⴰⵜⴻ ⴰ pⴻⴰⵛⴻⴼⵓⵍ ⴰⵏⴷ ⵀⴰⵔⵎoⵏⵉoⵓⵙ ⵙoⵛⵉⴻⵜⵢ. ⵏo ⵎⴰⵜⵜⴻⵔ ⵜⵀⴻ ⵛoⵙⵜ!!"

The moment the words slipped past her lips, Kitsuki barreled into the shield. Through the power of Tenshijutsu, she was able to smash through it with her bare fist. Kitsuki's entire body burst through the other side of the Transmodifier wrecking it altogether and crippling the Indaina Kujira's ability to create more puppets. The red light died instantly and the artificial Bijuu howled in pain. Now that its matter crunching factory was decimated, Kitsuki could turn her attention to the people of the city. She dipped down and looped back to where her cane was falling. She snatched it from the sky and flew to where the fighting was thickest.
