The mission parameters were simple. Infiltrate the facility. Find the virus. Destroy their work to make sure it can't be reproduced. It was rumored that the Land of Sea had hired another mercenary, but any info on them was unknown. This made Seigi slightly nervous, as he couldn't plan ahead, but he was always pretty good about thinking on the fly. He only hoped they didn't have some kind of mystical weapon like his last opponent did, the Ichinin catching himself thinking about that weapon often and how useful it's applications could be in his hands.
The facility itself wasn't hard to locate, the Carmine Collective doing most of the legwork for Seigi in the investigation. Located in a large cove just off of the coast, the complex itself was mostly underground, with a lone facility at the top, a single elevator shaft in and out of the facility, and a large underground bunker where the virus itself was kept. Security was heavy and it was descrbibed as "inpeneratrable" which meant it would be a good challenge for Seigi. Not being on the ocean meant he could use his full spectrum of abilities as well, not limited to just hand-to-hand combat.
It was a nice change of pace to work with a faction that put in just as much work as he did, and he found himself sympathizing with them more and more, but despite his personal feelings, the research from this plague was what Seigi needed more than anything. The sickness that was brewing inside of him would take him, sooner or later. He didn't want to alarm Shimiko, but the intensity of his symptoms was increasing; He was spitting up blood daily, his body seeming to be succumbing to the same virus that took his father and this universe's true Seigi. He refused to let it take him.
The operation would start just after midnight, and Seigi would perch himself on an overlook on the side opposite the ocean. Between him and the entrance to the facility, security was surprisingly lax, making Seigi curious if it was a trap or not. They either knew he was coming and prepared ahead of time, or they were hurting in this blockade more than they knew. Either way, he would remain on his perch, watching, waiting for the opportune moment to strike.
He would open the jar of sand on his hip, letting it fall into the ground beneath him, watching as it sunk into the earth to create more and more sand, resource for the fight ahead.
