Over Arcing History
Before Birth
Dahlia’s Mother, Lara, grew up in a small; njnjaless village with her 4 brothers. She always found herself able to outsmart many of the other kids her age, while her brothers found themselves more physically gifted. The 5 children were easily known as the local trouble makers that easily could swindle other kids their ages for their allowances, and or snacks. They however were always found out by the adults, and reprimanded.
Meanwhile Dahlia’s Father, Locus, grew up in the same village with his younger brother at the local farm. He always wanted to be a ninja, but was stuck with farm work given the need of workers his family needed to keep an income coming. He commonly found himself trying to practice ninja skills during his free time. He had easily gotten much of this practice in during the countless fights he had started with others due his notorious anger issues.
The two were likely never to look upon the other as anything more then random people they crossed by on the streets each day. Though after an attack on their village that lead to the death of most of its population, both of their parents, and 3 of Lara’s brothers; who tried to protect her, and the other younger teens, the two found themselves in a small group of survivors together. A group that only shrunk further as they fled the village due to making many poor decisions along the way.
Lara quickly took charge after this, and managed to get herself, her brother, a local girl, Locus and his brother out. The few others that had likely gotten out on their own were suspected to existing, but never seen by the group. The 5 of them all decided to stick together in their travels. Each place they went Lara did her best together as much information as she could to increase their survival rate, while Locus did his best to look into Ninja techniques he could find in books.
The others did what they could to get money at each stop; though never gained much to work with. Each place they went to the group felt less, and less like they belonged, but grew closer as friends. Eventually the group just decided to stay on the road, and live off the land. While gathering more knowledge as they traveled along the way. They even had gotten another man to join them along their way that had found injured, and abandoned by his friends in a forest.
Over time Lara’s brother found himself growing closer, and soon enough marrying the other village girl that traveled with them. While Locus’ brother found his own relationship with the newest addition to their group. Meanwhile as fate would have deemed it; both Lara, and Locus who had grown close over their mutual determination to learn all they could, as well as the others strengths; found themselves wed, and with a child they named Dahlia.
Early Childhood
The young daughter Dahlia had been found to have her father’s anger, and her mother’s talents with knowledge. Lara happily taught the girl all she could whenever she could. Which granted the young girl with much know knowledge that was far above other children her age. Her father tried to do the same with ninja arts; though knew he could only do so much due to his own lack of proper training. He though unknowingly to them all had gifted the girl with his natural large pool of stamina, and chakra that one day would give the girl the edge she needed in her own life path.
Dahlia had always preferred learning the strategic side of things in life more then anything else. Though after the group was attacked by some bandits her interests changed. After her father sacrificed himself to give them time to get away; the young girl found herself inspired by her father’s noble act, and wished to be a ninja like he once had dreamed to be. With the loss of Locus, Dahlia's new dream, and a baby now on the way; Lara decided it was time to settle down. With the agreement of the others they set off to find a home.
The group soon found themselves in Konoha. The 6 of them had very little money, but after selling what goods they had gathered from local wild life they had managed to afford a large apartment. The place barely had enough room for the 6 of them, but livable. The adults did their best to find what local jobs they could to upkeep the money they would need for the apartment, and their day to day living costs. Dahlia meanwhile often found herself unable to sleep inside; let alone stay inside for very long due to how crowded everything was as well as being an enclosed space.
Her mother after noticed her sleeping on the balcony every night since they arrived she scraped together some more money to buy the girl a tent in order to keep her things dry, and to allow her to comfortably sleep outside. Around this time Dahlia’s cousin was born, and Dahlia enrolled in the local ninja academy. Dahlia was overjoyed to go to school, but found herself failing in her classes due to her nerves from being stuck inside most of the time in crowed rooms getting the better of her.
When she did have outside classes she managed to show she had some average skills, though this was rarely ever noticed due to her outstanding tendency to lash out at the other children due their comments on her paranoid behavior. This only grew her frustrations in her own abilities which in turn usually lead to more fights. One afternoon she decided to go outside the village to the forest. There she found herself feeling finally at home.
There was where she began to spend most of her time reteaching herself the schools lessons with the materials given at school. She did her best to try to physically practice what lessons the teacher had tried to teach her during the outside classes that day as well. Slowly her reteaching began to include advanced material as she tried to get ahead in class the best she could with books from the local libraries. Despite her growing skills, her nerves always got the better of her, and limited her focus. This led to most of her tests resulting in barely average grades, but did permit her to graduate from her school.
During this time her family managed to upgrade their living situation to a very small house. Dahlia’s tent was also relocated to the roof of their house. Lara had made sure to get a home with a flat roof specifically for this reason. Her family still struggled with their money commonly however. Which led to a discussion between the adults while the children slept. Lara’s old skills of swindling quickly came up which was followed by an idea. It was then decided that common trips would be made by Lara, and her brother to neighboring settlements. There they would do their best to swindle the locals of what they could.
The idea worked verily well. The only thing that had kept them back from making larger sums of money was the need to avoid drawing to much attention to themselves like they had as children. Since they were now adults they could get into serious trouble if caught. The income of the house quickly turned into a more comfortable living situation. While also enabling Lara, her brother, and Locus’ brother to quit their day jobs to focus on their swindling jobs.
Preteens
Dahlia commonly found herself struggling to connect to her assigned team mates, and team leader after she became a Genin. Due to her constant struggle to preform in front of others she was commonly seen as the weak link of the team. Since she could never show off her skills and abilities in front of others, let alone on missions inside of the village her team always assumed she lacked talent.
Her team rarely tended to give her chances to share her idea's or take the lead on missions due to her inability to preform. While when she finally had her chance she commonly found herself once again unable to focus, or out right ignored by her team mates. This usually led to a lot of fights between she, and them. The biggest one came when the team went to take the tests to become Chunin. Which of course the promotion in rank would only come after they were old enough, but the test was to see if they were ready for when the time came.
The test was just a base knowledge one for the time being. Though was located in a building where their leader could ensure there was no cheating. It was rather crowed as well due to a few other teams taking the same test. This of course caused Dahlia to severely fail. The group at this point was dismissed due to Dahila's poor performance, and odd behavior. After all her times where she had lashed out at the others mixed with this it finally led to the team getting into a full 3 way fight.
The leader tried their best to keep things civil, but with competing anger amongst the kids a fight quickly broke out leading to many injuries amongst the group even with the intervention of their leader. It was after this that the leader decided to opt for the team to be kept out of new missions until a month after they healed to give them some time apart. During this time Dahlia beat herself up a lot over her lack of ability to preform, and once again avoided the major issue she had at hand with her anxiety.
While her body rested she decided to go back to her usual retreat and safe place; books, and studying. After her body was healed she then went back to her usual physical, and mental training. When the group rejoined things were still stressful, but Dahlia took it upon herself to keep to herself out for the guilt that still lingered inside her. Life went on, but this time with less fights.
Each time her team started to try to reach out to her from assuming that her docile behavior was her own way of trying to finally let the others in; Dahlia would just push them away per usual. Eventually they all stopped trying. the other two team members even began to do their own separate things more often. Which lead there to be less team work then what there was when fists were being thrown.
At this point their team leader made the decision to disband the team. Her other teammates quickly found new teachers while Dahlia was once again left behind. Where she continued to avoid her anxiety problems.
Story Arc 1: The Lone Wild Child
- Hidden Due To Length:
The story of the lone wild child begins with a child who saw herself following in the footsteps of her father in a sense of duty in hopes to keep her family safe. After watching the last member of her old team departing to a new town the young girl fled to the forest out of anger and sadness at being left behind, as well as the memories of the things she had done to her team in the past. There she met with the Village’s Hokage who stayed to talk and chat with the young girl much to her confusion despite her yelling, name calling, and overall rudeness.
The two found themselves much alike in many ways and left with the Hokage Tengoku, gifting her with 2 scrolls to learn 2 jutsus that may better help keep her safe. The action to him might have been small, but the entire encounter leaves the angry broken child feeling slightly lighter. Shortly after the young wild child found herself running into the Hokage in the same forest who had been Hokage before the current one. She found herself at a loss with this one and even ended up blurting out many of her issues she had been overlooking, and some outright pretending didn’t exist.
This encounter was much briefer and left off with the young girl leaving the man behind, how she left her with the thought of the forest and how like them she found herself going there when she was troubled and needed a place to think. The young girl soon enough took to cleaning the hokage rocks by herself pushing herself to get it all done in one day until she fell asleep up there. Her mother who had been out on a job found her that night and brought her home as the two shared a heart to heart moment that would prove to be one of the last few that the girl would ever have with her mother.
Not too long after this the girl found her mother leaving with her uncles on another job without saying her goodbyes. This left the girl feeling abandoned once more where she decided to focus her sadness into rage and rage into the training she had been doing up on the Hokage Rocks that week. Due to this she took on a Jutsu she was unable to control at the time and was nearly struck by her own jutsu before the Hokage Tengoku saved her. The Hokage lectured her about how dangerous her actions could have been for her and others. The girl spouted back the way she always did, dismissing his words only for him to reinforce them more sternly. The girl breaks down finally and cries only to be embraced by the Hokage who offers to become her teacher.
The girl agrees to leave with the man who had no idea that the girl saw him more as a friend than teacher at this point. Her first and only friend. He pushed ehr to her limits unknowing of the full depths of her mind breaking under the stress of pushing herself too far like she always did. Visions of her past coming back to haunt her in person leading her to complete a task out of rage, and sorrow which lead to her becoming a state of emotionally numb and turned off. A state that the girl had only entered in once before and had repressed the memory of largely.
Unknowing of what was occurring in the girl's mind Tengoku offered for her to go home or continue on with the training that would only get harder from there. The girl perusal decided to push herself even further, not wishing to go home nor quit despite how broken she was becoming in the process of pushing herself to be exactly what others wanted her to be. A while after this the girl returns from training to see her mother home who sits down with her to talk where her mother brings up how she and the girl's father weren't as perfect as the girl thought but this was quickly overlooked and looked past by the girl.
Her mother slightly alludes to what she did in her job while offering her daughter advice in overcoming her mental struggles with crowded places, and buildings. She informs her to look at who she would like to be, how that person would look, and act; then try to be that person instead to work as a buffer. The two then go to dry off from the rain and lay down to rest. The next morning the young girl found her mother packing to leave after only having been back for a single day.
She asks if she could go only to be turned down. The girl then proceeded to ask for her mother to stay in return of her taking on more jobs to make up for the money loss which also was turned down leading to the girl lashing out demanding to know what she even did which only lead to a full fight between the two before her aunt stepped in bringing up her father and her mothers flaws. Between the perfect images her parents finally cracking a little, the fact she had been inside for too long, and all the screaming the girl screamed for them to stop before running away to the forest where she sobbed until nightfall.
Weak and tired, the girl finally returned home to find everyone sleeping, and her mother gone without even a note. The girl then decided to commit to making a unique identity of someone who would idealize her desire to be what everyone wanted ehr to be at any time in hopes that when her mother returned shed wish to stay with her longer if she could be more appealing personality wise unknowing, or refusing to admit the truth that it wasn’t that alone that kept her mother away.
She named this girl Yasu Lynn a self taught traveling young girl and promptly used a jutsu to look like this imaginary girl she had created. She then forced herself into the library where she met an odd boy called Yuichi who would be later revealed to be an Uchiha boy. Quickly reducing his endangered status she stuck around in hopes to help him claiming it was due to being a ninja, and not due to her genuine concern for the boy. As they talked the boy had called her scary as well as cool. Both things leave the girl surprisingly feeling better about herself. Once the coast seemed clear enough she asked what was going on confirming her worries for the boy.
Using his book she wrote down instructions to help keep him safe if she wasn’t around that would lead the boy to the Hokage who could keep him safe if things turned for the worse. She led him outside where he led her to his usual training spot. There the two trained for a bit while The girl tried to avoid directly training to not risk breaking the jutsu she was using to hide who she was. After this the girl found her aunt and uncle seindign her cousin to school while discussing a concerning letter sent by her uncle then about their new monetary concerns.
Deciding to step up Dahlia approaches then giving her the ryo she had on hand to help with the bills telling them she would help and no longer just pout in a corner all the time. After adding the stress of her pre existing issues, as well as supporting her entire family largely by herself she sets off to pick up a job only reinforcing her choice to avoid public places as others who knew her at the mission building gave her dirty looks without her even doing a single thing to provoke them.
She got herself a job and made her way there only for the same hostility to find her there, as well as a small pack of dogs waiting to be walked. After strategically setting up their leashes to permit her to walk them all at once she set them free where she was yanked to the ground. Soon enough she managed to get a trash can lid to use to slide along the ground as the dogs ran. At this point she was flooded with the barks of the dogs, and the angry shouting of the people nearly ran over by the dogs.
Rapidly her mental state was tearing down from her situation, and all of her issues and she felt one of the biggest desires she deep down wanted. To be herself, to feel free, and not feel bad for benign those things and just have fun. At this point she is sent in the air by a ramp where she feels as though she is flying and in that moment creates a new identity Dove. And as she did so she would see her vision warping to see herself looking like her for a moment before seeing her running with the dogs.
After landing she managed to touch down and run with the dogs and the girl. She finally let herself free and just enjoyed the moment of running with the dogs until they stopped to break. There she saw her two other identities there in support of her making her smile and returned the dogs. Angerying the groomer in the process of how she did so, as well as being yelled at by the mission giver after hearing what she had done she leaves with her pay and beaten down feelings to see the two waiting there for her.
Despite knowing they were not real she happily accepted them there as her new imaginary friends. The next day she stayed home to train as well as decided to take her mother’s journals to try to figure out what was going on with her. Her own inner concerns of destroying her image of her parents further her imaginary friends warned her about proceeding but she did so anyway learning that her mother was in fact a thief. She quickly hid the book as her aunt came up to check on her.
At this point her aunt lectured her about snagging the books, hiding the real reason why she didn’t want the young girl to read them. After playing it cool and showing her the new original jutsu she was working on her aunt left her be. Dahlia then read the rest of the passage, growing her concern for her mother as well as growing a doubt that her mother was leaving purply just because of her and to get money for the family. Her two imaginary friends comfort her as she wishes her mother to just be safe wherever she was given her new knowledge that the mysterious message had meant to stay radio silent due to them being in danger.
The next day she would meet with her cousin at the academy where she lectures him about being a ninja and not giving up on others help as well as giving him her old notebooks to help him in his training and school work. Upon seeing her old teacher glaring at her the girl as well as Dove in her imaginary form flipped him off in spite before leaving. Soon enough after turning into Dove she was recruited by an outsider to the village to provide a distraction.
One that she surprisingly found herself easily excelling at. After singing and terrorizing the public she slipped away and was found again by the man who happily paid her for distracting the people while he stole. This leaves the girl feeling fairly decent and happy as well as accidently paid before wondering if this is why her mother enjoyed leaving so much. A while after this Dahlia learned that her uncle decided to leave to try to find the missing party.
A few days later after Dahla spent her time trying to keep up the money flow, train, as well as some times relaxing with the help of her new forms and imaginary friends she found herself lurking in on a conversion between her aunt and cousin. The entire situation reminds her of one of her many repressed memories of the day after her father died. As her cousin asked about the missing family members, a young version of herself told her mother that she knew her father wasn’t coming back and that it was okay all the while in an emotionless state her mind had put her in as a coping mechanism.
Her aunt told her cousin she didn't know in a shout of stress leading the boy to flee in tears while her aunt fell and sobbed in defeat. Her mother meanwhile in the memory presented in front of her very eyes told her there still may be a chance only for her younger self to step up and announce how she watched him die and that she'd keep the family safe, scaring her mother. Her scared mother told her she couldn't do that at such a young age only for her younger self to flatly tell her then they’d all die then but it was okay before leaving with her fathers ninja books.
Her mother watched scared as she left before her imaginary friends made the memory she had once repressed fade away. A memory she had repressed due to the trauma of her fathers death, watching her mother sit in denial of her father, and her own shocking behavior due to how she coped with all the emotional stress as well as knowing exactly what happened to her father due to all the information her mother had given her over the years, and thus knowing too much to merely pretend she didn’t know her father was dead and not just sleeping or something.
Against her imaginary friend's attempts to express Dahlia’s own knowledge of what reading more journals would do to her psyche she decided to finish the book she had kept this whole time of her mother’s that expressed her mother’s fear of her daughter. Her concerns of what Dahlia may do if her fears turned out to be justified if she became a ninja, as well as concerns of what her daughter may do with the knowledge of a ninja. Overall deciding to go to the village however out of concern for the family’s safety as a whole.
Out of the feeling of betrayal as well as a silent anger she moved to see the other books to see if her mother still felt this way about her only for an imaginary version of her father trying to stop her acting as her subconscious telling her to calm down and think over just act. She ends up yelling at him telling him that she was almost certain that she was clearly just all the bad sides of her parents in one person rather than their good sides. After this she then calmly told him he wasn’t real, and he wasn’t coming back, making him vanish before going to read the books.
The books reveal that her mother claimed to love her, however she still feared her due to how violent she was in her youth leading up to this past year. She learns that her mother was leaving for the money, but also as an escape from reality, and the situation of her daughter. As she finished reading she realized her aunt was at the door and thanked her for trying to stop her before asking if she was scared of her as well.
Her aunt tells her she wasn’t and that she believed Dahlia was just a girl who had needed help that she never received, as well as one that lacked the parents she also clearly needed but the only one left was never around referencing her outlash at Dahlias mother a while back. She then told her that her mother loved her. Dahlia however couldn’t understand how someone could love something they feared. Her aunt was unable to explain but assured her that her mother loved her.
Despite this Dahlia chose to leave telling her she was going to train leaving the book and her aunt alone in her mothers room before returning to the forest with the 2 scrolls Tengoku had gifted her so long ago to learn the jutsu’s with her imaginary friend’s help. She easily learned them before she stood with her imaginary friends supporting her in her broken state stating how she was glad that she had them. Friends, and 2 people who would never leave her, and would always be there for her no matter what.
At this point she very barely sees them anymore as just identities she made up for herself that just existed in her head alone, and seeing them more as actual real people. -- This arc still has some more story before it ends but this is all that is currently posted up IC.
