Kara had been enjoying her new position as Advisor to the Kage. It afforded her a lot of power, and power was, well, intoxicating. And that was saying something, as Kara knew very well what it meant to be intoxicated. She’d been mostly unsurprised by Azuma’s request of her services, they’d been close for some time, and while she wasn’t a combatant - she did understand strategy, Azuma had seen that with his own eyes. It did mean that her attention was now divided four way though; between her duties as a doctor, running the Stag Emporium, advising the new Kage and her own. . . personal interests. Were it anyone else with lesser mental stamina she doubted they’d be able to keep up, but she had no such concerns.

After processing a series of requests from her suite at the Stag, she had made her way over to the Wind Dome. It was a ridiculously hot day, as usual, and that meant that Kara of course did not dress for the weather. Her deep red silken gown was in direct contrast to the emerald green parasol she carried with her, her savior from the scorching rays that threatened to damage her pale skin. As she walked towards the glass domed offices she regretted tying her hair up as tightly as she had that day, there was a bit of a breeze and she thought it would have felt quite refreshing to have it blow through her long blonde hair. She would sigh with impatience as she moved towards the entryway, knowing that she couldn’t do anything about it now. She’d strangely become more pampered since moving in to her suite at the Stag Emporium, a far cry from the caravans she’d found herself in most of her life.

With a nod to the guards at the front doors she passed through into the building proper, her heels clicking sharply on the floor as she headed to a desk filled with papers and placed her ivory handled parasol in a small basket next to it. Today was going to be a long one, there was much that needed going over. Accounting and trade requests, supply notes for the military and the village as a whole. As it stood Sunagakure was doing well, despite its outward appearance, but the delicate balance of any large gathering of people and items was sure to fail without constant monitoring. Catching the eye of a random staff member she inquired about the possibility of tea before taking a seat and sifting through papers before her.

Damien's arrival in the land of wind would not be something that was missed, even a blind man would hear the road of the shuttles engine as it flew overhead. It was but one of the many things he could offer the village hidden in the sand, and he hoped they could provide him with what he was after. While he could of had the pilot fly the shuttle straight to the administration building of the village, Damien felt as though that could cause problems he wasn't wishing to make. Instead the male ordered the pilot to land in front of the main gates of the village, there Damien and Saburo would disembark from the shuttle. While the male would have preferred to bring Zhu Li with him instead of Saburo, with this being such a long journey from the land of lightning he needed someone he could trust to run the company while he was away to ensure he did not come back to Moonspire burned to the ground. Saburo was a well built man much more toned than Damien himself, his appearance however would be hidden behind his Mask and his clothing would be that of the Darhk Industries Employee Uniform. As they approached the gates the guards would stop them of course, however after Damien explained who he was four of them would escort him to the Administration Building. Zhu Li had sent the paperwork long before this journey, their arrival would be expected the possibility of business opportunity oftentimes had ways of opening doors. The escort did not bother the male, after all it was an unknown village to him having never been there before and he could easily get lost on his own. He could feel the eyes of the village upon him as he walked, though maybe it was more towards Saburo. The seven foot tall mountain wearing all black and a demon mask following a man wearing a business suit complete with a trenchcoat, was not something you would see in the desert everyday. It was a pleasant looking village, with people running various shops no different than Kumo or Konoha. It was something that Damien was beginning to realize during his business ventures, despite all the differences between the villages there is one thing that remained constant. Everyone bends to the power of the almighty Ryo, whether it was in the desert or the mountains Ryo ruled over all.

Arriving at the administration building, the escort would take the pair straight to the office of the Kage and knocked on the door awaiting permission for entry. Damien would inhale a deep breath as he mentally prepared himself to deal with yet another village official and hopefully walk away from this richer than he already was

There was a mountain of paperwork to go through, just when Kara thought she’d gotten through it all there was always more. There was a good deal more to consider about running a village than a business and it was taking more of her time than she would like. It did afford her a lot of respect and power, and had the added bonus of putting her in close proximity to Azuma frequently, but it was a lot to deal with. To say that she was overwhelmed would be a stretch. She was more than capable of handling whatever stressors were sent her way, it just would be nice to have a distraction once in a while. She had become used to a less intellectually intense lifestyle since moving to Sunagakure, which in some ways had been frustrating but oh boy did she like the thought of a long bath.

Just when she was starting to feel restless her head would snap up from her desk as she heard a knock at the door. She was uneasy as she was sure that Azuma did not have any appointments, but with Shinobi - who ever knew? Taking a moment to place the more sensitive documents in front of her to the bottom of the pile she would clear her throat and call out. “Enter” was all she said, she wasn’t some hapless assistant after all, if whoever was on the other side could knock, then they could open the door as well. She realized that if it were someone who wished harm on the Kage there was little she could do to stop them. Not that anyone had tried since Azuma  had stepped into power. But it was a concern and she didn’t want to find herself in the way of some overpaid assassin. So she would rise from her seat, smoothing the wrinkles from her dress and move to the side of the furthest from the door she expected someone to come through, she wasn’t fast or strong, but maybe if she at least wasn’t in the way she’d be fine.

Darhk Dealings Empty Re: Darhk Dealings

Post by DamienDarhk on Wed Jul 29, 2020 4:11 am

Damien was surprised to hear a woman's voice on the other side of the door, all of his information pointed to the Kazekage being a male. Still it was information that he did not gather himself, so it was possible it could had been wrong. The Sunagakure Shinobi that knocked on the door would open it peaking his head in slightly, "Damien Darhk to see you ma'am." Was all the man would say before stepping back and motioning for Damien to enter. As Damien entered the office his heart jumped slightly at the sight of the woman, she was extremely beautiful and her amber eyes were like glistening gems against her fair skin. Saburo would move to enter the room behind Damien but the male would hold his hand up to stop him, "That is ok Saburo, I don't believe your services will be needed in here. You can wait at the door." With that said Damien would move forward into the room, Saburo would simply nod before closing the door. Damien had little doubt that the Neanderthal was now blockading the door and would not allow anyone near it, after all his job was to protect Damien and if the door was the only way in the office then he would defend it from all comers.

Damien wouldn't speak at first, simply watching the woman as if he was drinking her appearance in as he approached the paper covered desk to take a seat in the chair in front of it. Sitting in the chair he look into the woman's beautiful amber eyes and smile, "If I had known I would be meeting such a beautiful woman I would have brought you a gift, however my informants told me that the Kage was a male. I do not see how such a lovely creature such as yourself could ever be mistaken for a man, and will fire the one who reported such." His voice would be calm and soothing as he began flirting with the woman sitting at the desk, it was always good to start a conversation on a light side. However in this case he wasn't just saying it for business, the woman was a true beauty and she deserved to hear someone say it to her. Of course if the woman knew the man at all she might not find it so much as a compliment, considering he flirted with every woman he met. Still there was something different about this one, something about women with power just seemed to have an effect on the man. "I trust you know why I am here?" If the woman had received the paperwork Zhu Li sent over it would explain it all, Damien was looking to expand his business and open a shop within Sunagakure allowing them purchases of goods from Darhk Industries as well as allow them to buy shares in his company if they wished for an additional revenue for income. However it would all be decided in this room, his business with Kumogakure helped start his company, his business with Konohagakure helped get his airships off the ground. But his desire for business with Sunagakure was more personal than that, they held secrets that he needed for his research and he would do whatever it took to get it.

As the guard introduced the guest, she would nod to him, a silent gesture of permission. The name he spoke rang a bell, and she would glance down at the pile of papers knowing that she had just been looking at that name. She didn’t have time to look for it though as the man himself would enter the room, closely followed by someone who she assumed to be a bodyguard. She recognized the look of loyalty in the second man’s eyes as he nodded in acquiescence and remained outside as he was ordered to. Once the door closed she passed her attention over to the man in front of her, Damien Darhk. He was an attractive looking man, finely dressed and with a calculating intelligence she was not used to seeing in anything but a mirror. He observed her form just a touch too long, and Kara knew then that she most likely could use that to her advantage. She was not unused to the attention, she carefully curated her appearance to encourage it. She found that most dealings became easier when men were off their guard.

She would smile and gesture towards him and the chair in front of her desk while slowly sitting back in her own seat, methodically smoothing her skirts as she sat. His comment about her being the Kage amused her greatly, she certainly wasn’t, but she had been in need of a distraction so for now she would let the ruse play out. “Don’t be too hard on the poor thing. Good help is quite hard to find after all.” She would laugh as she spoke, a pleasant noise, like the sound of far off chimes. His brazen flirting was appreciated of course, she was quite vain, but it was a bit more high society that she normally saw out here in the desert, and it told a deeper story of the man’s nature and intentions. She imagined that he would not be flirting quite so much if it were Azuma that he was treating with. Although the image of Damien attempting to flirt with the actual Kage tickled her. Taking a moment to sift through the papers in front of her she would pull out the missive regarding Damien’s arrival, meticulously re-squaring the stack of letters and bills and notes before choosing to answer his question. While she was eager to speak on his requests, she also knew it was important to show her control over the situation.

“Yes, here it is. Darhk Industries.” She would pretend to look it over, leaning forward casually as she did so to allow the briefest glimpse of her curves. She couldn’t be certain that this tactic would work on this particular person, though in fairness he had started the game and she was curious which of them would win this standoff. She nearly always did, except once - but considering she was now in charge of that man’s business it seemed that it had eventually gone in her favor. “I have the name of your company, and your name of course. But beyond that I know little of either. Perhaps you could indulge me in sharing tea, or something stronger if you prefer and we can discuss your future here.” She would place the letter back down on the desk and pick up a tiny silver coloured bell and ring it once. She knew very well who he was and what his company dealt in, however she had no need to show her hand just yet, it was one thing to know the facts of a situation, it was quite another to see how someone else spun them.

Post by DamienDarhk on Tue Aug 04, 2020 4:02 pm

Damien knew as soon as he saw her shift her body that he had probably stared too long at her, though rather than getting upset about it she seemed to encourage it. It would seem this one liked the attention, which was a far cry from other women in positions of power Damien had dealt with. Most wanted to be seen for their position not their gender, and yet this beautifully curved Kage was flaunting it. It wasn't as if she was acting like a lady of the evening, no she held an elegance to her, a sophistication as if it was an art form. It was a breath of fresh air to the male, and seeing more of her body only increased his heart rate. He had always found women of power to be a turn on, but this was more than that. There was more to this one compared to the others, a complexity that was not there with others he had dealt with. It's possible that this was her way of getting the upper hand in the coming discussion, but frankly Damien did not care as he could not tear his eyes away from her. When she spoke it was like angels singing to his ear, her voice just as beautiful as the rest of her. The male would simply nod at her words of not being to hard on his Subordinate, though that was the furthest thing from his mind. He would sit silently watching her as she found the form and straighten the papers on her desk, lean forward as she read the paper giving Damien an even better view of her. He wished the desk wasn't between them, because then he would be able to see all of her better. Though he would not try something like suggesting that, even if the woman was enjoying him looking at her he couldn't let himself forget why he was here. There would be plenty of time for other things if and when they do business together, but for now he would just enjoy the view he had. It wasn't until the woman rang the bell that Damien snapped out of his day dream of the woman, realizing she had offered him a drink. "Ah, yes. Well I'm not much for Tea I prefer stronger things such as sake or whiskey, Mi Lady." Damien would reply to her inquiry of something to drink, "I am a man of simple pleasures really, until I walked through that door I would have said I'm here for two reasons. Money, and information. However now I find myself liking something else about this country." His eyes would narrow as he said the last part, looking not at her body this time but into her eyes. No matter how nice the view of her body was, it was the eyes that drew the man in. The windows to the soul and Damien couldn't help but feel that there was something about her, something familiar almost yet he couldn't put his finger on it. Damien would push his thoughts of her to the side the best he could, to try to focus on the reasons he was here. "I am looking to expand my company Darhk Industries by opening a shop here in the village, this of course would require an investment though buying of shares on your part. To ensure cooperation, so that I do not have to worry about my shop being destroyed. With those shares you would have something to lose if that were to happen, and what I can offer the village is beyond what any normal man can offer." The male's eyes would narrow as the thought of what he would like to do to her popped in his head, "I am not a fighter, I am a builder. I work with my mind and my hands to create, I can help bring Sunagakure into the future and keep them in the technology race with the other villages. Everything has a price, and I can give you anything your heart desires. All I ask in return is payment for my services, through both money and information that I have heard rumors that you and your village possess." Damien wouldn't reveal just what information it was he was interested in just yet, nor the fact about his AirShips that he could offer in return for it. He wanted to gauge her reaction to his words and see where her interests were before he revealed everything he could do for the village.

Darhk Dealings Empty Re: Darhk Dealings

Post by Kara on Sat Aug 08, 2020 9:45 am

Kara could see that Damien was just a slight touch distracted, which was absolutely perfect. She would smile demurely at his suggestion of something stronger to drink, she had been hoping he’d say something like that. If it were at all reasonable Kara would drink sake all day, for the most part she had relegated time for that in the evenings and usually in the comfort of her home. To say she was pleased about his choice would be an understatement. “An excellent choice, one after my own heart.” She would say with a chuckle then turning to speak to the man who entered the room once she’d rung the small bell. “A bottle of chilled sake for our guest and two glasses please.” The plainly dressed man would nod and exit the room through a small side door.

Turning her attention back to the finely dressed man across the desk from her she would bring her hand up to her chin gracefully as though contemplating something. “Three things now. How very. . . bold.” There was no accusation in her voice, rather a hint of flirtatiousness. She would catch his gaze with her honey coloured eyes and keep her eyes fixed on his. This man was no fool, that much she knew. What had caught her attention though was his comment of ‘information.’ A savvy businessman from Kumogakure was an unlikely one to be trading in information. Though she herself, a businesswoman and doctor was also the advisor to the Kage and the leading contributor to the black market - so who was she to judge.

She would listen attentively at the man’s pitch. It was a good one, though a less observant person might have missed the main point. Clearly he wanted to make money, that was not an issue; who didn’t? But it was somewhat telling that he focused on payment in information again, making her eyes narrow almost imperceptibly for a second. She had yet to encounter a spy, she’d heard of them of course, but she had no experience with it. As a naturally suspicious person it was where her mind would go initially. She would have to tread carefully however, if he were a spy of some sort, it was also just as possible that he had some skill with combat. His insistence that he wasn’t a fighter made that seem all the more likely. If she were going to infiltrate another village, this is probably exactly how she would do it. Lay on the flattery, be charming perhaps even seductive and offer a business opportunity that held just enough honesty in it to seem above reproach.

Kara would adjust herself in her chair, leaning both forearms across the desk in front of her, preparing to reply. Just as she was about to speak, a soft knock was heard from the side door and the man from earlier would enter with a tray filled with the requested sake and a small plate of sweets. The nameless man would set down the tray and carefully fill the two waiting glasses, after which Kara would nod to him and murmur a ‘thank you’. Waiting until the man had left and securely closed the door, she would rise from her seat and move around to the side of the desk picking up the glasses and passing one to Damien. Her own cup would be cradled in both hands as she half sat, half leaned against the desk only a foot or so away from her guest. “Please drink, no need to stand on ceremony.” She would raise her cup to her lips and take a sip, her eyes never leaving his form. She had been unfortunately interrupted by the servant, but now she was toying with the man’s patience. Seeing just how long it would take before he became impatient with her lack of reply.

She would finish her glass before speaking again, a subtle mischievous twinkle in her eyes. “Darhk Industries.” She would begin, setting her glass down and pouring another while offering to refill his glass should it have been even slightly emptied. “Of course, seeing as you’ve come here you know that Sunagakure is the trade capital of the Land of Wind. And like any good businesswoman I would not be inclined to turn down the chance to make a profit. Tell me though, what is it exactly that Darhk Industries does? What do you make, what do you sell. I’m not asking for trade secrets, merely. . . transparency. And while I am aware that our village is not known for it, we do have standards that must be met.” She would smile as she slung her barb, hoping to mitigate the potential insult of her words. She’d been so involved in the workings of the village lately that she’d almost forgotten the fun that could be had at a business meeting.

Quaffing her second glass she would twist so that her upper body faced him fully, leaning her hand that held her now empty cup, the position allowing the silk of her skirts to clearly outline her ample hips. “Trading in information I’ve heard is a somewhat dangerous profession. You’ll have no judgement from me, but it does beg the question; if you are not as you say a fighter, then how is it that you’ve been successful in such an endeavour? You look. . .” She would pause and very obviously look him up and down. “. . . more than capable. Perhaps there’s more to you than it would seem.” She would let her words hang in the air, giving him another flirtatious smile and leaning to fill her third glass.

Darhk Dealings Empty Re: Darhk Dealings

Post by DamienDarhk Today at 1:08 am

Damien wouldn't even notice the man that entered the room at the ring of the bell, he had no intention of taking his eyes off the woman. He would nod with a smile at the woman's words about being bold, truth be told it was more that he was blunt. If he saw something he like or wanted, he was sure to let it be known even if he still tried to maintain a professional decorum. He watched as she adjusted herself, but just before she spoke a knock would come to the door. Damien would keep his eyes on the woman as the man sat the tray down and left, the male's heart leapt when he saw the woman stand. Finally he would get a look at all of her, he thought to himself though his face would hide his inner excitement. He would drink in her perfect form as she rounded the desk and poured two glasses, it was exceptionally beautiful and just as intoxicating as the woman's facial features. Damien could tell the woman was smart and sophisticated, making the attraction he felt towards her all the more prominent than it would be if she was just a pretty face. He could see him actually enjoying conversations with her, not just the satisfaction of the flesh but of the mind as well. "Thank you, Mi Lady" Damien would reply as he took the glass she offered him, he didn't mind waiting to continue their conversation as if gave him more time to simply look at her and some of the best business happened after a few drinks were shared. The male would watch as she drank her glass following suit as if racing her to see who would finish their glass first. She would win, though only by a few milliseconds. The male would hold up his glass allowing her to fill it as she spoke, once filled he would begin drinking as she spoke his eyes watching her from around the glass until it was gone. As she turned her body towards him, a smile would form on his face both from her words and the thought of him holding those hips. He would smile when the woman asked how he had been successful in his endeavor of trading information, he enjoyed her looking him over almost as much as he enjoyed looking at her and the bulge in his pants would say as much. He would lift his own empty glass as Kara went to fill hers again, quietly just watching her. He half wondered how well she could hold her sake, and how long before he drank her under the table or she cut her self off as Ryuko did. For Damien alcohol was his favorite drink since his first taste at the age of eight, a celebration of his genius with his father selling the boys first design and starting Darhk Industries. Since that day he would drink alcohol anytime business was conducted, he has built up quite a tolerance allow him to be able to drink most under the table in competitions and still be able to function.

Damien would let the silence left by Kara linger in the air, while he began drinking his third glass. Once done he would let his arms rest on each side of the chairs armrests, "I have been successful because I always make it a point to be the smartest man in the room. As for my looks, my muscles are merely the result of years spent working with my hands and perfecting my craft. You might find me to be capable of many things, Mi Lady" The male would reply with a smile while twirling his empty glass slightly, his tone soft as he spoke to her though left vague enough that it could be translated to mean a wide variety of different meanings. He made a point to say smartest man in the room to signify that he did not think he was smarter than her or that he thought she was less than him, just as he didn't twirl his glass expecting her to fill it. It was all about figuring the woman out, what kind of host she was and what kind of services she was interested in. "I also find that money has a way of opening doors that would otherwise remain closed, and then there's always Saburo." Damien would pause pointing behind him at the door, "My man Saburo, may be dumber than a box of rocks but I trust him with my life. Why? Because I pay him to protect my life with his own, and I pay him well. Truth be told he was the first man that was sent to kill me." Damien would laugh slightly before standing and lifting his shirt and vest, his well toned abs would have a single large scar on his abdomen on the left side not far from his heart. "The brute would have killed me with the second blow, but then I told him I would pay him double what they were paying him if they he brought me their heads." Damien finished lowering his shirt back down, and taking another drink if Kara had filled his empty glass for the fourth time. He didn't have to say the rest, the fact that Saburo was now working for Damien would say it all. The fact that he paid a man to kill for him would also speak to his character, as well as tell what happened to those that crossed him.

"Everyone has a price, Mi Lady" he would add after finishing his drink once more, allowing the words to linger as he moved towards her. If the woman didn't step away from him they would be almost touching as he leaned forward to place the glass down on the desk next to her, he would step back wishing he could have lingered near her longer but he did not want to press his luck. "You ask for transparency, I can give you that. Outside your village walls sits what I call a shuttle, an airship that allows traveling far easier than any other means of transportation. I also have airships of war, chakra cannons, defenses for villages, I have drones that you can manipulate through chakra and cast jutsu through as a medium. My company can make anything and everything from the simple to the complex, we have a pharmaceutical department capable of making anything from medicines to poisons and everything in between. I have a business relationship with both Kumogakure and Konohagakure, and I wish to do similar business with you. I can also offer you shares in my company that will earn the village extra income, as well as offer job opportunities to the people of Sunagakure." Damien could go on and on with a laundry list of things that he had to offer, however he did not wish to bore her. So instead he would move on to what he was wanting in return, "I am a man of science, research, and creation. What I seek other than the comfort of a good woman and money is knowledge, I have heard rumors of Human Puppets." The male's eyes would narrow as he gauged the woman's reaction now that he was getting to why he was here, "I have heard it's a closely guarded secret of your people, among other things. I wish to learn more about it if that is possible, I believe it can help me in my research." Damien would finish picking up the bottle of sake and pouring himself his fifth glass before returning to his seat, awaiting the woman's response to his answer to her questions.
