Sunagakure

Sunagakure (砂隠れの里, Sunagakure no Sato, Literally meaning: Village Hidden by Sand) is the hidden village of the Land of Wind. Located in the Sunrise Desert As the village of one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries, Sunagakure has a Kage as its leader known as the Kazekage. Sunagakure's First Kazekage was Shin Kazehana. Being surrounded by desert offers the village a natural deterrent against invasion, as few foreign powers are willing to endure the sandstorms and water scarcity common to the surrounding areas. Sunagakure itself lies in a fortified valley behind cliffs of rock, with passage in and out of the village restricted to a single cleft between two cliff faces, making the area very hard to attack from the ground. Through the hard work of Okane Tomi, the once barren and sand filled region is now a lush and fertile Oasis. The streets of the Village are crystal clear rivers, allowing boat travel around the area through the interconnected canals. Along the sides of the canals are stone roadways wide enough for horse drawn carts and each segment of the Hidden Village is connected via bridges, creating an intricate network of pathways. Within the Village are conservatories and greenhouses and parks; greenery that supports the Village with food and medicine and commerce.

Sunrise Desert

Named as such because there is where the sun first rises, the Sunrise Desert is not as harsh as the Great Sand Sea, but it also poses many dangers for the unprepared traveler. It is home to Sunagakure no Sato and the Bloody Rock Forest. Northeastern Land of Wind.

The Great Sea of Sand

The Great Sea of Sand is a vast desert, a barren land where only the faintest wisp of cloud exists to protect life from the harsh sun rays. Lizards and other creatures look for shadow where the sand is not hot enough to roast them and the only sign of vegetation are the occasional cacti plants. Life hardly exists in this place, but the few creatures who are tough enough to endure such harsh climate are also some of the most fearsome life forms on the planet. The Great Sand Sea may not be home to sharks, but it boasts scorpions the size of men and some of the most poisonous snakes and plants. Its name derives from the legendary creature that is said to inhabit the place, a monstrous Kraken the size of Bijuus who digs beneath the sand and preys upon unaware travelers. Although Sunagakure will not officially confirm the existence of such creature, the rumors, and strange disappearances are enough to keep most folks away from here. A single large Oasis exists here, but it is heavily disputed by many creatures. Southwestern Land of Wind.
