Akari found herself in the home of the latest victim. Of course no one had known there were any ‘victims’ until earlier that morning when this woman woke up with obvious mental damage. She sat there, in her bed, rocking back and forth and speaking to herself as if no one was there. She might recover, the operative word there being ‘might’. Akari winced internally as she saw what this woman who had once been a shinobi, had become because of some ‘nightmares’ that people had begun to experience lately. No one had thought anything of it until this morning and then everyone who had been talking, even idly, about nightmares was rounded up and brought to the hospital. Akari had spent all morning delving into their minds to see if any genjutsu’s were affecting them.
To her horror, she’d found that quite a few of them had been under the effects of an insidious genjutsu that assaulted the mind with horrific nightmares in one’s sleep. It had to be reapplied often though, so it was likely that the perpetrator was not only in the village, but had contact with the victims quite often. Akari had spent all morning getting a feel for the targets chakra by delving into the minds of those affected and feeling how the genjutsu was laid before shattering it with her own skills in the field. Now she was at the home of the worst of the lot. They were still afraid to move her, little wonder why.
Akari made eye contact and dove into the woman’s mind, her eyes spinning as she did until she got a feel for the chakra here too. She felt like she could find the perpetrator if she saw them try to cast the genjutsu again. So she broke the genjutsu and left the mind of the woman, who passed out asleep from the strain. Then Akari began to wander the market. Eventually she found the target. It was a woman who’s chakra had flared up for a moment and Akari had gotten a look at it before it had cooled down. She had just cast another genjutsu on someone. Akari quickly apprehended the woman by utilizing her own genjutsu before breaking the new victim out of the genjutsu before it could truly take hold. The caster of the genjutsu was taken into custody and Akari went on about her day.
