The early morning chill caused Cali’s breath to come out visible, the heat from it forming into steam as it escaped his mouth and rose up. It wasn’t yet dawn yet and Calis could already be found within the training grounds, for he had never left. Teaching himself jutsu after jutsu was hard work, and it didn’t leave a lot of time for other things. He stood before a group of training dummies, the constructs of wood and straw, and others of straw and stone, acting as useful targets for his jutsu to test their power. The first jutsu on the first was a simple one, it merely involved scattering sand about in an area and allowing it to make targets that would normally be invisible, visible once more. Or at least point out their location. What it really did was cause the sand to pile against targets, against the neck, arms, legs, back, and other such areas where the sand could congregate. A quick scattering of sand around the area would see it done, the sand would begin to form up against the training dummies at differing angles. Making them visible to him even if they had been invisible.

“Right, that ones done. Now, let’s move onto the next.” He would say as he ticked that jutsu off the list. He had a few magnet jutsu he wanted to learn before he moved on to other jutsu, like increasing his repertoire of Earth Release techniques. The next one in regards to his main element though would have to be..”Sand Coffin.” He would say to himself as he began to gather a training dummy up in his sand and lift it off the ground, ripping it out with the strength of the jutsu. The dummy would levitate there, held up only by his sand as he held it above the rest of the targets. It would take someone of considerable strength to break out of this binding. He wagered Hana could easily enough, not everyone was as powerful as her. The important thing, is that from this point, he could move to crush the target trapped within the sand, or simply hold them up as long as necessary. Hell, he could even close off the airways to cause suffocation if he wanted. “Right, that ones done then.” He would think as he set the training dummy down gently, the ground around it still churned up and ruined from when he ripped it from the confines of the earth.

The next jutsu he intended to learn would be something he himself had been working to create. An effective, localized sandstorm that would enable him to control the flow of battle and also surround his opponents with a large amount of sand that he could then utilize to capture, maim, or kill a target. All the while forcing them to either move with the technique to nullify it’s effectiveness, or suffer debilitating speed loss and the inability to perceive as much as they once could. Escaping the jutsu was almost mandatory for any shinobi if they wanted to avoid getting themselves killed by a follow up attack. It was exactly the kind of jutsu Calis would love to use in the exams. Channeling his chakra, he would begin to swirl it around in a large area before him, manipulating the magnetic forces therin to force the sand to move faster and faster in a specific direction. It was almost like a sandstorm in the shape of a dome. It swirled faster and faster, the sand picking up speed as it reduced visibility to anyone that would be inside and the force of the storms pull reducing their speed significantly if they didn’t move with the vortex. The jutsu appeared to be a huge success and Calis would nod in satisfaction of the achievement. That was another one down, but he still had more to go if he wanted to increase his chances of victory in the exams to satisfactory levels.
