Chigetsu would nod his head, walking back around the outside of the classroom to return to Calis. He would give a small wave to the friendly teacher before leaving, and then close the door behind himself. Only after he did this did Chigetsu remember that he was the one who was supposed to be leading now, and had just accidentally shut the door on Calis while he was still in the classroom. Quickly he would open it and make sure that Calis would come out before closing again, awkwardly refusing to make eye contact or look at Calis as he left the room. Chigetsu would just pretend that mistake never happened, and hopefully Calis wouldn’t mention it either.
Having found eight of the children so far, with seven being in classrooms and one being in one of the supply closets, it would definitely narrow down where to search. There was only one classroom they hadn’t searched yet on this wing of the building, and if there wasn’t anyone hiding in the last remaining classroom that would just leave the bathrooms as the last potential hiding place in this area. Beyond that they would have to go outside if they really wanted to find anyone else, or just look around in places that they had already checked or neglected to look in the first time.
This presented a little bit of a problem though, one that Chigetsu was beginning to realize as he glanced down the hallway towards the last remaining classroom. What if they had to go search the bathrooms too? What would Chigetsu do then? The idea of having to stand in front of the both of them and choose one, or to even have to search both, was beginning to make him incredibly uncomfortable. Hopefully Calis just wouldn’t think of that, or at the very least could be convinced to not force Chigetsu into one of the two should the situation come. Rather than dwell on that situation any longer, Chigetsu would instead go to the last remaining classroom.
Rather than immediately walk in, Chigetsu would instead peer in through the little glass window in the center of the door to get a good look at what was happening inside the room before entering. The lights seemed to be turned off inside, and because of that seeing inside was actually pretty difficult. The only thing that he could tell was that it seemed like they were watching a movie or something, with a big box television on wheels having been rolled in. Chigetsu could even spot the VCR player beneath it after a few moments of staring. The television itself was playing something that looked vaguely educational, but also at the same time was trying way too hard to appeal to children. Without any context for these sorts of things as Chigetsu never had gone to the academy, he would raise an eyebrow at the strangeness of what the television was displaying. He would tear his focus away from it after a few seconds, and seeing that there was nothing else he could make out by just staring in through the window, Chigetsu would then quietly make his way inside. The door would creak to an absolutely painful degree though, and despite Chigetsu’s best attempts at entering the room quietly there would be eleven sets of eyes that immediately flashed in his direction. With all the sudden attention Chigetsu would freeze like a deer in the headlights, which was a metaphor that made no sense in this setting since there was no concept of vehicular transportation. After spending a moment or two in his state of frozen shock, Chigetsu would beam an awkward smile at the class before continuing his sneaky-sneaky into the classroom, making exaggerated movements that were slow and gentle in an attempt to not distract away from the television. Given the way the teacher was glaring at him, this was probably for the best.
Taking a better look at the contents of the room now that he was inside it and the awkwardness was gone, Chigetsu would immediately check for all the things that had previously been hiding places in the past. The fan was off, there wouldn’t be any vents on the outside walls, the windows were all closed, the lights were all off, there were no tied-together shoelaces in sight. He had made a mental checklist and went over each one in detail. It seemed that all the students were supposed to be working on some worksheets as they watched the video, with none of them all that eager to actually fill them out. There were plenty of idle pencils strewn across desks along with untouched pieces of paper. Now this was an experience Chigetsu could relate to, even without having been to the academy. It was a little reassuring to know that he wasn’t alone in being a piss poor student who did everything they could to get out of work, although maybe Chigetsu shouldn’t be happy about not being alone in that terrible attitude.
With the way the teacher was still glaring at him, even with that moment of squeaking in the past, it was clear that they weren’t pleased. Chigetsu’s eyes would settle on them before being scared away be the silent rage contained in the elderly woman’s stare. Either frustrated at their presence in the classroom or the entire game that was being played in the first place, her anger at least seemed to be a tip off that there really was a troublemaker in the classroom. Infact, it had been a good minute or two now and the teacher was still glaring dead straight at Chigetsu, which was actually beginning to make the pink-haired boy a little bit uncomfortable. Shifting from side to side, Chigetsu would nervously look around the dark room in an attempt to escape the woman’s glare. After a bit of rapid eye movement in his search for an escape, he would end up locking onto the child’s hiding spot. The realization was instant, along with the change in Chigetsu’s expression. Rather than give it away immediately though, he would instead smugly turn his eyes towards Calis, smiling now in a way that made it obvious he was all too pleased with himself.
