A shift at the Gates (Mission)

Mission Details:

Kojima has woken to another fresh day, and a fresh mission that he was notified to him via mail yesterday. He got assigned with that red-haired girl once more to do a shift at the gates, where it's described they will be supervised by Chuunin while they learn on the job but it mentions to take notes of how the job is handled on the daily. He guessed he got assigned this job because that other job he did with patrolling the streets the other day went pretty smooth, even if there wasn't a lot of trouble that night. He's somewhat expecting this mission to be a bit of a wash because of that patrol mission he did, which wasn't as prestigious or as dangerous as the Chuunin made it out to be. He'd care enough to still have an open mind and keep his eyes and ears open, but his expectations just aren't as high this time around.

He already dressed up in his ninja outfit and packed on his ninja gear, making his way towards the gates which was relatively mundane. A lively morning, active people and yet quite peaceful, there wasn't much out of the ordinary in Kumogakure. He made it well enough to the booth that's near the gates and as soon as Kojima was seen by the man sitting at the booth, he waved Kojima over and looked around, expecting another person to arrive. Kojima walked over towards the booth and the Chuunin watching the gates already initiated the conversation. "Aren't you supposed to come with a partner? whatever. You're early anyway, we can wait a few minutes for your friend." and with that, Kojima would just stand silently, looking around the gates and wondering what duties he'd have to handle today.

Being put on guard duty at the gates was definitely a sign for improvement on Leora's end. First of the new month and already she was assigned a mission with Kojima this time. Leora will arrive shortly after Kojima does as she is garbed in her usual attire of a plain grey shirt with a mesh shirt underneath. Pants were made of soft leather with some wool to keep her legs warm and a pair of boots can be seen on her feet. Leora's vibrant crimson hair was braided by the bangs and lets the rest of it fall down past her shoulders. The headband of the Kumogakure symbol wrapped around her forehead to signify which nation she serves.

Before Kojima didn't see the Chokuto that Leora now possessed at her waist clipped onto the belt. It was the standard iron blade with market quality materials, but it has obviously seen some action since the leather around the hilt is weathered and the scabbard has some faint scratches on it. She hopes that she wouldn't need to draw it, but on guard duty Leora couldn't be too careful. Upon arriving if Kojima looked at her direction Leora would present a smile before waving a hand in greeting. “Good to see you up and about Kojima. Has he given details on the protocols that we'll have to do?” It was a year ago, but she knows that the gate sentry stops and inspects everyone coming into the village. Including to acquire information such as their reason of staying, name, and estimation of how long they planned to stay.

Kojima did indeed look into the direction of where Leora came from, prompting him to give a wave and to greet her as she got closer. "Not yet, but it's also good to see you." Kojima said, before he could say anymore, the Chuunin stood up from his booth and walked around to inspect the two. It seems he took a slight inspection of Leora first, noting the gear and weapon she brought along and shows a clear face of approval before moving over to Kojima. His face was a bit less in the approval regard and more of a questioning one. "The lady came well prepared, what do you bring to the table boy?" Kojima did bring his ninja gear, but he isn't as showy about it because he didn't think this mission would be that high risk. Kojima quickly opened up his hip pouch, "Well you see sir, I got explosive tags, flash bombs in here, shuriken on my holster-" the Chuunin put up his hand, clearly motioning for the boy to stop talking. "That's fine. I was just pulling your leg. You both already did well in not underestimating this job, fortunately the gates aren't as busy today compared to the average day but that doesn't mean we can take it easy."

He take quite a few pauses here and there to collect his thoughts to what he should teach the duo. "I'm guessing you know that we have to check the identification of anyone who walks through those gates, though the exception is given if a clear member of the Kumogakure walks through, like the Raikage for example or a well known Jounin. If a citizen or ninja of Kumogakure don't have identification, we tend to have an updated binder of all the people who are allowed in the village, in alphabetical order thankfully. Though the people who aren't in said binder are people such as merchants, tourists, visitors and so on. We have the job of weeding out who actually has business in Kumogakure and those who don't." The man once again took a bit to recollect his thoughts, as if he felt like he was forgetting something but just motioned at himself to forget it. "Any questions?"

Leora couldn't hide her smile from the Chunin poking a little fun at Kojima. To be fair though Kojima came better prepared than she did because he has other tools to rely on. Disarm Leora from her sword and she's out of luck. Granted its not to say she doesn't know how to use anything else, but if Leora wanted range she's low on that luck category. Leora makes a mental note to remedy that soon enough.

Standing at attention Leora listened to every detail the chunin was telling them and simplified on what they're supposed to do. Most of what the guard mentioned is accurate to what Leora remembered a year ago. When he asked if they had any questions, Leora raised her hand up and won't say anything until the guard acknowledges her. “Should the scenario comes to detaining someone, where do we place them? Would we be supplied with shackles or something to bind them with?” Reasonable questions as if they're expecting Leora to bind them with air she would have assume they're joking.
