It had been about a week, week and a half, since her last mission to scrub paint off of the faces of the Hokage Mountain. It was her turn to learn a thing or two about gate duty. Excitement swelled within her. Sparing no additional time, she had awakened several hours before the start of her morning shift, had worn all of her necessary clothing, ate the necessary amount of food to keep herself nice and energized for the day, and packed a small lunch. She was to work 12 hours at the gate working under the wing of a Chuunin by the name of Hibiki. Upon arriving at the gate, she was full of energy and ready to get going. All of these dull Genin-level jobs were starting to wear on her with how dull and mundane they were. She felt ready to get into some actual action. Pleasantries were exchanged between her and Hibiki. So the day began and three hours into the shift, Airi started to feel antsy. She was no longer enthralled and enchanted by the idea of being a gate guard as all they did was watch people enter and check carts like customs. She was used to the cart-checking being that that was her home for 14 years. While she despised living in the back of that cart, it still held a small place in her heart for carts. She tried hard to keep her eyes open and to not yawn. After all, she was one of the first shinobi people would see as they enter the megastructure that was Konohagakure. But damn was this job dull and only 3 hours had passed at this point. "Is this normal every day?" she asked as the two just watched people casually enter into the village. Nothing looked suspicious or out of the ordinary. "Yawwwwwp," Hibiki said as he kept a vigilant eye on everyone entering into the village. "But you're a Hyuga right? Gate guarding would be a super simple job for you guys since you can see them tenkatsu, tonkatsu," he said fumbling around with the word tenketsu. "Tenketsu," Airi interjected with the man nodding his head. "Yeah, that's it. Oh, it would be easy work." It wasn't that she doubted how easy or hard the job was, it was just too bland for Airi. She wanted something a bit more amped up, something a bit more involved. She respected the gate guards for keeping order and peace at the gates, but this just wasn't the job for her.
