Mountain Expedition

Tengoku had been invited to the Hokages office as he had some business there it seemed. He had the Jounin tournament coming up but honestly he had been putting off training for it. He maintained his physical capability but beyond that he didn't do much towards getting stronger. He had spent the last couple of days lounging in front of the tv in his kimono and pants with potato chips and some candy. A couple of cases of light beer to toss on there and he was set to watch the chunnin exams program. Still he would answer the door with a face full of white stubble and a few crumbs on his kimono. He looked at the messenger before brushing off his front and wiping his hands on his pants. With a yawn he would close the door behind him and walk barefoot with the man through the city. None of his equipment on. He had really taken to retirement and wasn't worried about being attacked. His hair was a mess about his head as he sniffed away some tiredness. Still he was wearing his shinobi black pants and his loose fitting yellow robes. The seal on his chest clearly visible like a tattoo. 

Still Tengoku would enter the admin building. Greeting a few of the staff who worked with him before with a smile. Even ruffling the hair of a couple of the younger jounin. Still he had some important business it seemed. Still he would excuse himself a moment with a glance upstairs. He could sense her up there. Likely just as much as she could sense him. He would follow the messenger further to the office Before entering with a light hearted knock on the door itself before letting the hand up to scratch his itchy stubble a little. He was bored so whatever job she might have for him would be interesting. 

"Hey kiddo what's up?"

Tengoku would make a face and slightly stick out his tongue at the lord part when she addressed him. As if he had just tasted something gross. Still he would go and find a seat across from her and settle into it. Leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees as he folded his hands. He would listen quietly to her instructions. It wasn't a bad idea sending him if it was a possibility of running into Chen or Raijin. Since the latest intel had them both in that area. One having attacked Iwagakure and the other having attacked Sunagakure. If only they were aware both men were in another country altogether. However such was not the case and so he would nod as she continued to explain his mission. He would roll his tongue on the inside of his teeth as those gold and black eyes traced her movements with the letter. He would collect it with two fingers a moment before tucking into an inner robe chest pocket. Patting it lightly as she continued. She wanted a deal good enough for a minor nation? They already had most of what Iwagakure had to offer from previous excursions. Likely most of their exclusives had copies somewhere. 

Still the offered payment was hard to pass up. He would let out one low whistle. His cost of living had gone up recently and he was going to have to lose wolf manor if this deal hadn't been plopped in front of him. His sisters daily care would have become more difficult to manage without serving staff on the payroll too. Still he would finally lean back into his chair and fold his hands across his stomach. Studying her a moment as he clicked his tongue against his teeth. This kinda stuff always felt odd to him. He had acquired a couple countries in his time but nothing cloak and dagger and no real bartering with other major nations. However he was also torn for a couple reasons. For one he was happy Airi wasn't just conquering Iwagakure. The Farfour accords were still unbroken. If anything he was proud she was looking to aid their economy. However this was going to cost a literal fortune and a lot of constant pay from the village. She was a clever girl and smarter than him so he wasn't interested in figuring out her intentions. 

"Lord Hokage, I must say that title suits you. That said the blanket level of something worth a minor nation seems a little vague. You aren't one to spend so much and get so little in return. Surely you have something in mind that you want and feel is worth the literal fortune your about to spend. I would prefer to go armed with that knowledge if I am to negotiate on your behalf. So Airi, what is it exactly you're after? An alliance?"

Tengoku would lift a hand to cover a yawn as he listened to the woman who had always been a great deal brighter than himself. He wasn't an idiot by any means but he wasn't a tactician either. He had always suspected a few things when he was named Hokage. The first was that he was some sort of scapegoat. Konoha had been a little aggressive in war at the time and a summit had been called. Nyguyen Uchiha had been largely disliked at the time and sent Tengoku in his place. He recalled the woman at the time who had all but launched herself across the table at him. Still he hoped he had ruled with morality first and power second. Still he had felt the need to step down. Especially after the vault was robbed on his watch. In many ways his student was much more suited for the job and seemed to have her own suspicions....Rens name had been mentioned however. He had been keeping an eye on the man since his return to the village with his own thoughts. So after he stifled his yawn he would nod a little with an eyebrow raised. Did she share the suspicions for other reasons?

Still it was a comfort he wasn't being sent into failure. Exclusives were about as welcome a subject as getting kicked in the balls he suspected. After all the hunt for Diana was over stolen exclusives. Still he felt a sense of pride that she was actively seeking a peaceful resolution and not sending him with any threats. Instead it was an offer of valuable trade to the recovering country. It was different than the straight up theft. Though he wasn't sure how well this would go if they turned him down. Airi was being generous and if they spat on that...well he suspected she had a temper. Still he would do his best to resolve this peacefully. If he did come across either of the nation busters he would need to do his best to kill them. If not it appeared she wanted him to join the hunt for them after the mission. He had some personal anger in both cases. Chen having the balls to threaten Konoha and his personal failure to annihilate Raijin when he had months of opportunity. Still he would take a deep breath before rising back to his feet. Patting the envelope in his inner pocket. 

"Alright then...sounds cut and clear. I will head out after I get some gear and a snack. I'll be in Iwa in the next couple of days probably. Just to reiterate, scout mountain, negotiate with the current Tsuchikage for an alliance and doton exclusives in return we will purchase the land of mountains for them. Give him your letter, return with news and then go find your assassins and aid them....and they are who and going where?"

Tengoku would nod before he would stretch out. He hadn't traveled in a long time so it would be nice to get out of the village. She was fairly clear that this was all voluntary on his part and he wasn't out there looking for trouble. Still he would nod to her as she finished. She was the boss now and he wasn't one to shirk too much. Well since he retired he had been fairly lazy even with the Jounin tournament coming up. He hoped he wouldn't have to utilize Roen but one never really knew. Still he would bow his head and smile like he was doing something clever. 

"Alright well I will bring back word soon as I can. For now I am off to the mountains. Wish me luck. Imma go get my gear and then you can warp me as close as you can."

Tengoku would wink a moment before he would slip out the door unless he was stopped. Ren being a suspect was interesting. He had suspected the man but he had no actual proof. Still it would be a pity if that was the case. Yet another Uchiha facing execution was his bet. Still he would head home and have a few meals prepared for himself before grabbing all of his gear and Returning to the office. His Wakizashi and katana on his left hip, his quiver full of chakra drain arrows strapped to his right thigh with his Hero water jug on his right hip and soulstring collapsed and strapped to the small of his back. The gold rings worn on his upper arms, wrists and ankles. Ready to get teleported.
