Hibiki chuckled softly, her eyes twinkling with amusement as she replied, "Well, I had to make up for all those other times, didn't I?" She flashed a grin, enjoying the lighthearted exchange with Innocence. Deep down, she appreciated the recognition, even if it was just for a single moment of brilliance.
Hibiki listened to Innocence's remarks with a mixture of amusement and confusion. She was growing accustomed to Innocence's sharp tongue and sarcastic demeanor, but underneath it all, she sensed a hint of insecurity and self-doubt.
When Innocence mimicked her apology, Hibiki couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. She had genuinely wanted to make amends for getting Innocence's name wrong, but it seemed her efforts were only met with more hostility. She bit her lip, unsure of how to respond to Innocence's outburst.
Upon being called a Cimmon roll Hibiki's eyes widened in mock indignation, her mouth dropping open dramatically. "Me? A cinnamon roll?" She gasped, placing a hand over her heart in exaggerated disbelief. "Well, I must say, that's a new one! But hey, if being sweet and irresistible is my new reputation, I'll gladly embrace it!" She flashed a playful grin, clearly enjoying the opportunity to ham it up for her friend's benefit.
Hibiki smiled gratefully as Innocence busied herself with retrieving the drinks and snacks. "Grape sounds good." she said, her voice soft with appreciation. When Innocence returned with the drink and chips, Hibiki accepted them with a grateful smile. She wasn't sure why Innocence was being unexpectedly kind to her, but she appreciated the gesture nonetheless.
"Thank you, Innocence," she said softly, taking a sip of the ninja-ade. The cool, refreshing taste was a welcome relief from the heat of the day. She glanced at the lime-pickle chips, feeling a pang of hunger. As she reached for the chips, Innocence's comment about already dating Nao caught her off guard. She blushed slightly, feeling embarrassed.
"Yeah, well... it's complicated," she mumbled, unsure of how much she wanted to reveal to Innocence. Despite her abrasive exterior, there was something about the surgeon that made Hibiki feel oddly protective. She didn't want to burden her with her own problems, especially when it seemed like she had enough on her plate already.
But as she sat there, munching on her chips and sipping her ninja-ade, Hibiki couldn't shake the feeling that maybe, just maybe, there was more to Innocence than met the eye. And maybe, with a little patience and understanding, they could find common ground and forge an unlikely friendship.
As Hibiki sipped on her Ninja-Ade, her mind wandered to the recent events, particularly the unresolved tension between herself and Nao. Maybe, just maybe, opening up about Nao could be the key to deepening their friendship. She considered the possibility, feeling a mix of nervousness and hope stirring within her.
Innocence's gesture of offering her favorite drink and snack reminded her of the camaraderie Hibiki shared with her other friends, and it encouraged her to take a leap of faith. With a determined resolve, Hibiki decided that it was worth a shot. After all, true friendship often blossomed from moments of vulnerability and honesty.
As she took another sip, she glanced over at Innocence, contemplating how to broach the topic. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but she also knew that Inno was someone she could trust. With a deep breath, she prepared herself to share a part of her story, hoping that it would bring them closer together.
For Hibiki, Nao was more than just a friend; he was a kindred spirit who had unexpectedly entered her life and left an indelible mark on her heart. As she reflected on their budding friendship, she couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for his presence and the way he had effortlessly woven himself into the fabric of her life.
“About Nao." She paused, gathering her thoughts before continuing. "We've been spending a lot of time together lately, and I... I really like him. I want to ask him out officially, you know? But I just don't know how to do it properly."
"Nao is... well, he's more than just a friend to me," Hibiki contiuned, her voice tinged with warmth and affection. "He's like a beacon of light that appeared out of nowhere, illuminating my path and guiding me through the darkness. From the moment we met, there was this instant connection, as if we were two puzzle pieces meant to fit together."
She paused, a soft smile gracing her lips as she recalled their conversations, their shared laughter, and the moments of quiet understanding they had experienced together.
"He's the kind of person who sees the beauty in everything, from the colors of the sunset to the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves," Hibiki continued, her gaze distant yet filled with fondness. "And he has this way of making even the simplest moments feel extraordinary, like sitting beneath a tree and watching the clouds drift by."
"But beyond that," she added, her voice growing softer, "Nao understands me in a way that few others do. He sees past the mask I wear for the world and sees me for who I truly am, scars and all. And in his presence, I feel... accepted, cherished, and understood." As she spoke, Hibiki couldn't help but feel a swell of emotion in her chest, a deep gratitude for the friendship she had found in Nao.
"He's my first real friend, you know," she concluded, her voice barely above a whisper. "And I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world. Having him in my life has changed everything, and for that, I am eternally grateful."
"He's like that Lotus flower emerging from the depths," she continued, her voice filled with quiet reverence. "In the darkest moments of my life, he appeared, offering me friendship, understanding, and a glimmer of hope. And just like the Lotus, he reminds me that beauty can emerge from even the darkest of places, that there's always a chance for renewal and growth."
With a gentle sigh, Hibiki's eyes softened as she looked at Innocence, her gratitude evident in every word and gesture. "I never thought I'd find someone like him," she admitted, her voice tinged with awe. "But now that he's here, I can't imagine my life without him. He's not just my first friend; he's my anchor, my confidant, my... everything."
