Hitting that Grindstone

After many diligent hours training Tōri finally found himself open to learning techniques from skills he hadn’t touched since his days in the academy. A testament to the hard work he’d put in he made sure to borrow some tools from his compatriots to train this technique he’d come to the terrific training facility to practice. Armed with kunai, metal wire and a couple of bells Tōri formed the clone seal with one hand while holding the tools with his other.

With the clone formed he threw the kunai with bells attached and wire connected the bells to his hand, enacting the illusion with the sound of the bells ringing upon making contact. The clone immediately looked a little off balance, taking the opportunity to rush them and take them out. Reacting just too slowly, Tōri knocked them down to the ground, not wanting to fully dissipate the clone before the day’s hard work was over.

There were many illusions on today’s docket for training, completing the first one easily and moving right on through to the next. With a helping hand he helped his clone up back on their feet before continuing with their assistance. This next one was far more useful when used in a covert manner, less useful while engaged in direct combat. Still, this was one of many situations a shinobi should expect to find themselves in. Sounding incredibly useful he leapt into a nearby tree and had the clone begin running around the yard as he enacted the next illusion.

The clone suddenly doubled around, the illusory area now able to be manipulated into making the target move along a more desirable path. He could see uses defensively too, perhaps avoiding conflict altogether if the illusion went off without being noticed. Ending the technique he jumped from his perch in the tree back down to the training yard with his clone, excited to get through these illusion techniques and start practicing some taijutsu techniques he’d been eager to try out.

It felt good to stretch his mental muscles, this was an exercise he looked forward to continuing, realizing that in concert with some other techniques might allow him to access even further removed techniques than he had access to now. Working his way out of the mental knot he’d tied himself in while going down that particular rabbit hole he released the technique on his clone without warning, forcing the poor fella to think he was somewhere when he wasn’t. Ah genjutsu, truly the thinking man's jutsu if there ever was one. Yes after messing around with his clone for long enough he finally released the technique, the clone looked at him with a look of exasperation knowing that this trickery was far from over with the plans he knew well that were in store for him. Moving on to the next one he was at least glad to not be subjecting him to horrors just yet.

With but two hand seals Tōri was able to make the clone think that they are sinking in quicksand, and not the real kind either. No this was your classic looney toons ass quicksand we’re talking about. And to boot the clone wasn’t exactly moving with the best coordination as they found himself clambering for safety to make the whole experience feel all the more real. Of course the clone knew that they were in for a bunch of illusions but this way it felt like more of an authentic experience. Real props to the clone though, he was really putting in his all. Finally he released the technique and gave the clone a moment to breathe before descending into the next one. It wasn’t going to be as pretty as these others and they weren’t even pretty to begin with. No, the clone was going to have to take the proverbial chubby in this training exercise.

Alright kids, it was time for the real spooky technique that made you feel like you’re going to die. With just five hand seals one can provide a serious level of trauma that deals psychological damage when inflicted. Readying himself for the infliction later once the clone was dispersed he released the technique as the clone looked up in horror as a giant ball of flame fell upon them. Before the clone felt the illusory heat of the ball of flame Tōri released the technique to save himself from actually taking the technique in the delayed capacity. The clone looked over happily, glad to have been spared themselves from what was surely to be not a terribly pleasant experience for the non-masochistic. Now it was time for a weird one, but he figured that forming a flute from wood wouldn’t be that hard and holy shit I almost wrote that as the pun, that WOOD have been great. There, I couldn’t help myself.
