Learning:
Hotaru was a shinobi now, but he knew as well as anyone that this did not mean that he got to rest on his laurels. He was a genin. A measly genin. There was a lot of work to do before anyone in this village would take him seriously.
Ever since he first began learning ninjutsu at the academy, it had been very apparent that Hotaru has a particularly strong affinity for fire release. So what technique would be better to learn for this budding ninja than the iconic fireball technique? The Konoha library had a number of scrolls on different techniques and had graciously lent him one containing the instructions to a number of common fire release techniques. Today, in the quiet and safety of the training facility, he would give them a go. He opened the scroll and checked the instructions. Of most interest were the hand seals: Snake, Ram, Monkey, Boar, Horse, Tiger, apparently. Hotaru had the uncanny ability to perform fire release techniques without the aid of hand seals. His control over this nature was so profound that he was able to follow the chakra flow and molding normally facilitated by handseals even without actually forming them. This did not mean he did not need the hand seals to learn a new technique, however. To him, they acted like a set of instructions on when, where and how to direct his chakra to reach a certain result.
He took a deep breath of fresh, training ground air and followed the instructions. Hold the fire release chakra in your lungs, seal it until pressure builds up and...release. As he did, a great jet of fire blew forth, scorching the grass and shrubbery as it raged over the field. It took a few more tries, but Hotaru managed to get the hang of the technique without too many issues.

Description: A technique where chakra kneaded inside the body is converted into fire and expelled from the mouth either as a massive orb of roaring flame or as a continuous flame-thrower. The scope of the attack is altered by controlling the volume of chakra that is mustered. The released flames will engulf their target, and leave a crater in the ground's surface.
Version 1.) When released as a continuous flamethrower, this technique creates a widespread stream of flames, expanding out 25 meters in front of the user. It moves at B-tier speed and possesses the same power as normal, but can be maintained for a small cost to do consistent burn damage overtime, should something remain in it's range.
Version 2.) When released as a projectile, the technique fires off a broad sphere of flames, moving at C++ speeds. Upon impacting something the sphere detonates into a ten-meter fire bomb burning anyone in contact with the flames. Once passing 100 meters, the fireball fizzles out.
