Training The Brat (And Then...?)

Missions:

Anzo stands across from the much less-used training fields from the rambunctious teenager with a new spear that his "daddy" had just bought him. Sitting there on the fence, the red-jacketed man wonders mentally if he would have called his father "daddy" if he'd known the man before he'd been sent off to the war between the Uchiha and the Hyuuga. Silently, the blonde man shakes his head; he can't imagine he would have. The Aburame weren't what one might have considered spoiled, especially not compared to this wealthy merchant. Or the Uchiha and Hyuuga themselves. The thought makes him involuntarily clench, but only for a moment. None of the members of either clan alive today could ever be blamed for the deaths of his parents, especially as the old clan leaders from long ago were now either gone or retired.

He's broken out of this internal reverie when the young man suddenly calls out to him to ask impatiently when his second was going to show up, and Anzo stares the kid down wordlessly while he pushes the sunglasses up his nose, letting the silence of his non-answer trail onwards until the young man awkwardly adds a "please" to his request, at which point the Aburame actually answers him.

"She'll be here when she's ready. Not everyone is your servant to be ready at your whims, young master, and it would be prudent for you to remember this."

It was noon, and the sun was directly overhead; Anzo considered it likely that Hanabi had been at lunch when she'd received the mission, and was therefore not likely prepared at the time, so he was willing to wait, even if the younger man was clearly not so willing.

Hanabi would appear right behind the two, her fingers tapping both on their backs, giving a grin. “I can hear you y’know.” Hanabi would go in between the two and stand in front of them, crossing her arms. “So I see you want to try and test your abilities, yes?” She asked while placing her hands on her hips and snapping her fingers quickly. “I’m not sure about Anzo but I can definitely help you out.” She gave a quick wink and jumped back about 20 m. “Try and come at me!” She called out, placing her sword in front of her, flipping her hair off of her shoulder and Taunting the baby Genin. She didn’t want to reveal the Sharingan yet in case the newbie didn’t know who she was. Hanabi’s eyes traveled to Anzo, giving him a playful wink, her free hand beckoning him to come over and help her. “Now then. Shall we dance?” An ember wolf would appear next to Hanabi and wait to lunge at the new Genin when within the range of 5 meters. The boy didn’t seem to thrilled but they would go after Hanabi and Anzo in an attempt to attack. Hanabi would wait for Anzo’s attack to base off of his just so she could get a feel of how he worked.

Dance of The Crimson Wolf:

Anzo was quite surprised when Hanabi manages to sneak up on both himself and the child from behind and even get close enough to tap them both on their backs, letting them know that she can hear them. Though startled, the Aburame manages not to show it as he moves a bit aside to let Hanabi slip between them before standing ahead of the young new genin and challenging him to come at her; after she beckons him to stand next to her, Anzo visibly stiffens a bit at being ordered about, but she was an Uchiha after all, and would also likely outrank him soon. He would feel like quite an ass indeed if he balked at following her orders now. He moves ahead to stand next to Hanabi as she brings out her sword and also lets a flaming wolf appear seemingly out of nowhere next to her.

Anzo watches as the young boy approaches them in a full spring with his spear out directly in front of him. With the length of such a weapon, he seems able to keep the ember wolf at bay, not letting it approach too closely before the spear begins approaching Hanabi. Anzo, who had been completely still until this point, suddenly takes on the Strong Fist stance and swings his leg around to catch and sweep the young man's ankles. Though the sudden attack lacked much in the way of power or strength, with the boy's legs already moving, it didn't actually take much strength to knock the legs out from under him and leave him sprawled on the ground with the spear landing tip-first in the ground a meter away.

"You'll need to try a far less direct approach if you want to succeed, young master."

With Anzo quick to trip the young man, Hanabi clicked her tongue and placed a free hand on her hip. “Here..” She would drag her hand across the boys upper back and bring him a bit of distance away. “You’ll need to try and use this spear as an advantage or as an arm. If you focus too much here…” She would place her hand on the spears pole. “And less here…” Her leg would swoop under the boy, tripping him slightly enough to falter his stance but not fall. “You will fail.” Hanabi would position the spear in his hand to where he would hold it close to his body but not entirely on it. “Strengthen your legs. Your legs are your defense right now.” She would bring him closer to Anzo and she would shift her stance adjacent to the man. “Try doing a lunge towards him.” She would suggested at random. Hanabi had an idea but wasn’t sure if Anzo would follow through. She seemed to be the better candidate to teach since it was just a pole arm weapon, much like a sword. “If Anzo is able to deflect…” She would subtly move her leg to behind Anzo’s own leg, trying to give the hint to take him down from the height difference. “Try catching him off guard.” Hanabi gave a coy smile, her eyes quickly changing to a three tomoe, watching the boys every move.

Anzo wordlessly watches as Hanabi begins to instruct the boy on how to actually use the spear, particularly in regards to a stance that he can take that would better ensure a good position of his feet without sacrificing his lethality with the spear. Then he tenses up a bit as the Uchiha moves in closer to the Aburame himself, glaring at her for only a second when she suggests to the boy that he should lunge at Anzo with the spear before fully focusing on the boy again as he readies himself for a thrust with the polearm. Though Anzo is quick, he isn't particularly strong, so he isn't going to be able to directly face the blow; instead he rapidly lifts his right leg and stomps firmly on the approaching spearhead, pushing it to the ground with a swift movement of his leg.

He gives a bit of a grunt when Hanabi moves her own leg behind his own, and he subtly bends his leg, only a bit, but certainly enough that a sweep would not knock him over, but simply cause his leg alone to kick up. Of course, with the simple thrust redirected to the ground, Anzo had little to worry about regarding the attack, and he simply lifted his leg afterwards to let the young man pick his weapon back up instead of immediately following up with more attacks. Especially as the young man was almost certainly weaker than himself.

"You'll do fine if you keep practicing. But only if you practice well. I'll bring out some of the Swift Pole technical scrolls to help you learn... I'm no good at them myself."

Anzo stares at Hanabi's golden eyes out of the corner of his own once more, suggesting wordlessly that she not use them in a simple two-on-one spar.

OOC: 100/100 Rising Defense Kick

Hanabi would raise a brow as Anzo would deflect the attack with his foot instead, making her roll her eyes and woosh him away. “Alright, move move.” She would lightly push him but he wouldn’t budge, making her try and use all of her weight (about 125lbs) to try and move him, all with no avail, his body not moving one bit. It kinda looked like a child trying to move a massive boulder. After a while, Hanabi would begin panting, the child laughing at Hanabi’s attempt. “Are you guys friends or together?” Hana would cause a large fit, her words tumbling and stutter, waving her hands in front of her. “No! I’ll have you know I’m married!” She spouted out, covering her mouth right after and looking to the side. After a moment of silence, Hanabi would clear her throat and grab her sword from her back, sheathe and all and placed it in a upward hold. “Try attacking me with the pole arm.” She would direct, seeing if maybe hand to hand wasn’t this kids gist. Maybe sword play would better him.

The kid would take on the stance before and try to jab towards Hanabi, making Hanabi’s sheathe line the pole, manipulating how the weight affected the two weapons by rotating her sword along the pole, disarming him and sliding her sheath to the kids chest. “This is how you try and disarm. Maybe a spear isn’t for you..” She would think for a moment and while she was about to give the kid a sheathe of her sword, a messenger came by, bowing their head profusely and stating an emergency mission was given to them. Hanabi would blink and her sharingan would deactivate, looking to Anzo and giving a small nod to see if they were good to.

Anzo notices that Hanabi is trying to push him aside, but he just doesn't move, allowing her to try and push him aside while he simply allows his 200 lbs. of body weight keep him in place. He lets his sunglasses slip down his nose a little, giving the young man a wink just before pushing his sunglasses back up over his eyes when the new genin asks if they're together. He finds Hanabi's flustered reaction very humorous, but he doesn't show it, not even with a smile; laughter might embarrass the Uchiha more, but she'd also get much more angry, which would probably put an end to the fun. Then Hanabi blurts out that she's a married woman, and they all take a moment to bask in the second-hand embarrassment before they get back to training.

Anzo simply watches as the Uchiha girl shows the boy some more methods of attack, but ends up proving that he's not that proficient in the spear, leading her to suggest that he not use it at all.

"Hey now, he's only just started learning the spear. He'll improve."

That's when their attention is turned to the courier, dropping off a second mission for them, an emergency. An escaped convict, apparently. He pushes his glasses back up on his face, then gives the young genin a wave goodbye before hopping up out of their training area, moving towards the market district, which was the last known location.

"Keep working on the spear. Remember, the pointy end goes in a fellow."

Hanabi gave the kid a small bonk on the head with her sword and gave him a wink. “Keep it up and it’s always okay to try a different weapon.” Hanabi would go after Anzo, picking up a bit faster than him and deciding to slow down to match his Speed. She had yet to really seen his abilities so maybe she would let him take take the lead on this sudden mission. Upon reaching the Makret District, Hanabi halted to a stop, panting and bending over and then standing back up to cough a few times. “I’ll go this way.. it’s best to split up and try and find the sucker.” She stated before running off, full speed in her own direction, searching for the Thief, her eyes her bright gold with the 3 tomoe swirling to a stop. She could see Chakra paths and if he had chakra, he had a path. The colors were mixed in together however there was one specific path that stood out to her, allowing her to follow it. It was faint but it was still there so maybe it was her chance to grab them. She would follow the path down a dark alley way, the path becoming more prominent and easier to see, making her speed pick up a bit more. As she got closer, another chakra path showed up, similar to Anzo but different? Did Anzo find them already? Regardless, she turned a corner, getting closer, the color of the chakra, a light blue color with a crimson chakra path nearby as well. Turning another corner, her breathing becoming light, she stops to see a horrific sight…




A horrific sight indeed. Hanabi let’s out a scream— “kyAAAAA!!”, falling backwards, onto her bum, freaking out over the amount of bugs that came from Anzo. Her face turned almost white and the light that shined in her eyes faded with fear. Uh oh…

Anzo quietly grunts his assent that splitting up is the best way to find the escaped convict. As soon as he can no longer see her, he squats down and places his hands on the earthen path through the market district, calling up burrowing bugs of various types, in particular the earthworms that can sense vibrations. Anzo silently converses with them, finding one particularly nervous-feeling vibration in the short memory of those earthworms, and then using the earthworm's memory as well to track which direction the nervous walker was going. It helped that the convict had only been able to pick off their handcuffs, but the ankle cuffs were still attached, if hidden in his pant legs. While most people would be walking with a relatively long gait, this man would be walking somewhat awkwardly and with shorter steps. Anzo wordlessly thanks the earthworms and then makes haste directly to his target.

Anzo actually manages to get past the guy, getting into a position ahead of him by going through the less-traveled back alleys until he's able to bump into the convict, pretending that it's an accident. But he can hear the ankle chains jingle as they bounce off one another. Immediately, Anzo clears some room around the two of them and uses the Kikaichu he has with him to firmly bind them to the convicts legs, with their numbers increasing until he has 250 of them feeding off of each of his legs at the same time, which constricts his movements until he's no longer able to get away while also draining his chakra rapidly, leaving him in a weakened state; since he's not a ninja, his chakra reserves already aren't all that high, so he's quickly being brought down when he hears a scream suddenly.

The girly yell breaks his concentration, turning towards Hanabi as she falls backwards onto the dirt path she had been travelling down. With his concentration lost, the convict manages to kick the bugs off of his legs and make a new run for it before Anzo can catch him again. The Aburame grunts, having expected to catch and fully take down his target before Hanabi actually showed up so she wouldn't see him using his bugs, although he hadn't expected such a violent response from her. He's a bit torn between getting the convict again and catching Hanabi before she fully fell over, and he picks Hanabi; Anzo can pretty reliably catch the convict now that he's seen the man's face. Instead, he rushes to Hanabi, dropping to his knees in a slide to catch her head when he sees the intense fear in her eyes.

"Hey! Pull yourself together! We have a mission to do, and I can't have you passing out from a little phobia!"

Hanabi would be caught by Anzo, her eyes closing a tad bit before opening them back up when being caught by Anzo. Her eyes met with his for a brief moment through the shades before snapping out of it. He was right, there was no time to have a phobia. Hanabi shook her head and gave a sharp nod, getting herself up and dusting off. “Right. Thank you.” She gave a smile and flicked her sharingan back on and following the chakra path that the enemy left behind. “This way.” She called to Anzo and immediately jumped up to the roof of a building, Phoenix like wings forming to her back and Hanabi went off at B+ speeds. These wings helped her with her speed whether in combat or not but they were draining. Luckily, the Opponent wasn’t fast at all, giving her enough time to catch up, jump off the building, releasing her wing tech and landing on the opponent, constricting him with her own strength. He didn’t seem to tough but she didn’t want to ruin the poor dude. “C’mon, let’s take you in.” She said to the criminal, pushing him quite roughly. It wasn’t needed but Hanabi felt some sort of anger towards him, whether it be from her own issues or her bloodlines curse, anger was still there. Hanabi glanced back at Anzo and gave a playful wink to him, letting him know she got him. Though for Hanabi, it felt too easy.. Though with Hanabi, Anzo, and the criminal back at whatever station there was to turn criminals in, she would release him to the proper people and without looking to Anzo, she would state softly. “Hana… You can call me Hana.” She would then glance up to Anzo and put her hand out, comfortably introducing herself now. The bugs were a bit of a scare for her but with time, she would think she could get over it. Awaiting for his Hand shake, she would glance at the door. “Food? On me.” Her amber eyes once again looking up to the man, peering just enough by his sunglasses to see some color.

Anzo lets out a light and wordless grunt when Hanabi thanks him for catching her and bringing her back to her senses; he doesn't really feel that simply catching her and giving her a moment to get over her phobia was necessarily worth any gratitude, but he wouldn't outright deny her feelings. As soon as she gets herself up, Anzo follows to his own feet before following her lead. While the Aburame could just as easily use his earthworms to find the target's odd gait again, he didn't feel it would be wise to have Hanabi confront what is clearly a phobia for her all over again. In fact, although she calls out to him to follow her, he actually loses track of her movements after those wings of hers make an appearance. All he knows is that one second, he's followed her to the roof of a nearby building, and the next second, she's pressing the convict to the ground.

Anzo himself hops on down to ground level as well, taking hold of the convict's other arm to help her lead him to the police station for re-integration into the appropriate cell. When Hanabi winks at him, Anzo is a bit surprised now, but he doesn't show it. It's really fairly easy for him to do so with his jacket covering up the lower half of his face and his eyes hidden behind his sunglasses as well. Then she introduces herself to him more properly, even extending a hand out to him, which he knows she's not really comfortable doing, considering how she freaked out with the insects before. But Anzo takes the opportunity to take hold of her hand in response, only after ensuring that his Kikaichu were well back from his arm before he gives her hand a quick up-and-down pump, then letting her hand go.

"Hm? Food, on you? You don't look much like a table, but I suppose I could use you as one if you insist."

With his completely deadpan delivery, it's hard to tell that he's joking, but with Hanabi looking into his eyes past his sunglasses, she might catch a bit of a jestersome look to his gaze, letting her know that he had simply been joking on their way out the door.

Hanabi shakes his hand and gives him a warm smile, despite his recent bug usage. It was creepy but not everyone liked bugs and it was a fact. She figured that he was pretty careful as to not showing them in case something like that happened. When Anzo responded with his half witted joke/pick up line, Hanabi’s face turned red and she looked away. “N-not like that!” Her eyes went back up to his, her face returning normal and exhaling with a relief, giving him a semi weak punch on the shoulder. “You’re gross…” She said as she laughed with her eyes closed for a moment, opening them back up with a shine glowing across her iris.
