It had been a while since Nikola's latest adventures. These had come in the form of a couple of solo missions that he had been assigned by the Hokage Office's mission center to take on. Since then, Nikola had once again gotten back to his usual daily routine of assisting his parents with their business ventures, accompanying them to various high society events and mingling with the other attendees of said events, and of course, his ongoing and ever-burgeoning mad science research, both of the generic sort and also more specifically of the ninja arts variety, with the latter being focused especially on the study of ever more efficient means of commanding and directing the Aburame insects dwelling inside him as well as the study of how to improve this entomological arsenal for his benefit and for that of his Aburame clan in general

Hmm...now that I have learned the theory regarding the execution of these new jutsu, perhaps it is time for another training session at that one center...

Nikola mused thus silently as he stirred from beneath the veritable mountain of research notes that were current piled up high in his residence/research lab in the Aburame clan compound on this particular day. After managing to drag himself out, he rose to his feet and proceeded to ready himself in his usual work attire, this being specifically comprised of his standard researcher's outfit and with his various pieces of ninja gear equipped to various strategically chosen areas on his person. Then, after informing his family's support staff of his potential whereabouts and intended destinations for the day, he set out to once again to the Grand Konoha Training Facility so that he could master the various jutsu on his field testing agenda for the day. Once there, he borrowed some training equipment from the on-site store, then chose a quiet, isolated spot in one of the rooms to set himself down and mentally prepared himself for the imminent start to his field testing session

Hmm...now then, what would be the best order to start testing these new jutsu I learned of in, I wonder? Maybe...Focused Amplification...followed by Genjutsu Kai...and after that...

Nikola mused thus silently as he pondered about which jutsu to begin with, and after thinking about the matter for a bit, ultimately, he decided to go with field testing the Focused Amplification jutsu first. To that end, he reviewed the jutsu's performance steps mentally

Hmm...so this is a technique designed to intensify a jutsu's inherent power and enhance its reach and velocity too, eh? Interesting...and it needs the Snake hand sign added at the very end of the amplified jutsu's hand sign series...sounds simple enough...Ah, I could use this on the Shuriken Giant Body jutsu I learned recently...

With that thought in mind, Nikola took out a shuriken and aimed for a training dummy in the room which was 16.5 m away from him for the first trial run of the Focused Amplification jutsu after which point, he threw the shuriken at said dummy. Then, a split second afterward, he began the Tiger-Rabbit-Dog series of hand signs which were needed to activate the Shuriken Giant Body jutsu and added the Snake hand sign at the end as per the training scroll's directions. Doing that poured more of his chakra into the flying shuriken which was then enlarged to the usual 10 times the size of the original but also began traveling much faster as well. Consequently, Nikola saw that the enlarged shuriken was able to easily tear a wide split in the training dummy due to the explosive increase in size and velocity it had received from the combination of the Shuriken Giant Body jutsu and the Focused Amplification jutsu.

Impressive...this really IS a useful jutsu...and it does not cost too much more than the original due to being the same rank in difficulty...but still, I had better be careful about picking the right situation in which to use this combo...

Musing thus silently, Nikola prepared himself to do more trial runs with the Focused Amplification jutsu. To that end, he proceeded to test the range increase at 15% next and followed that up by testing it at 20%, 25%, and so on in order until finally, he found this jutsu could only enhance the range of his Shuriken Giant Body jutsu up to a max of 50% while the velocity increase seemed to remain constant and unaltered with each use. Thus, Nikola was able to successfully learn the Focused Amplification jutsu and then stopped to review the data he had gleaned from these jutsu field testing trials.

After resting briefly and contemplating which jutsu on the list to train next, Nikola finally decided to undertake learning of the Genjutsu Kai technique next

So the idea is to for the user of this jutsu to flood a burst of concentrated chakra into their brain to expel the foreign chakra which is inducing the Genjutsu in question, eh? What an intriguing jutsu, indeed...this will be quite useful for those situations wherein I might need to face off against Genjutsu specialists...normal ones, anyway...

Nikola mused silently thus briefly and then brought out the Genjutsu training apparatus from among the pile of equipment he had borrowed from the Training Facility's site shop and after setting it up, he flipped the switch on the side of the device to activate it and let it cast a basic D-rank Genjutsu, specifically, the "Demonic Illusion: Hell's Viewing" on him to commence the trial run for the Genjutsu Kai technique he intended to test now. Then, he focused his attention on studying the characteristics of the Genjutsu he was now under the influence of, that specifically being a pack of snarling, rather rabid looking dogs and wolves circling him. However, that proved to be a bad idea since he could now feel nigh-instinctual panic starting to rise inside him as a singular and certain unsavory memory from his past started to bubble up to the forefront of his mind unbidden, due to the mental assault of the "Demonic Illusion: Hell's Viewing" Genjutsu on him

Egads...not this memory again...curse my luck, of all the Genjutsu this thing could have initiated, it had to be this one...but, I will NOT give in, not this time...

Nikola thought with a deep frown now contorting his face and then, he quickly tried to reorient his mind into its usual calm and composed state with a forceful exertion of his will. Then, he continued his study of the genjutsu in question, committing to memory the somewhat nebulous appearance of the illusory canines now circling him appeared to him, thus distinguishing them at a basic level from physically corporeal ones as an easy tell for this genjutsu. After he succeeded in doing that, he then set him to the task of testing out the Genjutsu Kai he was intending to learn now.

Now then, here we go, summon chakra...concentrate it...and finally unleash it in an intense burst into the brain to wash out the foreign chakra...

Reminding himself of the steps to the Genjutsu Kai technique thusly, Nikola then summoned up a moderate amount of his chakra from the depths of his being, to the point that he could feel it would be enough to cancel out a D-rank Genjutsu like the "Demonic Illusion: Hell's Viewing" and after concentrating it as much as possible, he focused his consciousness upon it, exerting his will with as much force as possible while performing the Tiger handsign to activate the Genjutsu Kai technique to guide his concentrated chakra as a focused burst into his brain to cast out the invasive foreign chakra emanating at him from the Genjutsu training apparatus. It was then that he felt the sensation of being released from the currently active negative influence of the "Demonic Illusion: Hell's Viewing" Genjutsu on him and watched as the illusory canines disappeared from his field of view, vanishing into nothing as the surrounding scenery came back into sharp focus again. Then, Nikola proceeded to rinse and repeat with his field testing of the Genjutsu Kai several times more until he felt satisfied with his familiarity with the performance of the technique in question, thus completing his learning of said jutsu at last.

After resting briefly and contemplating which jutsu on the list to train next, Nikola finally decided to undertake learning of the basic Shadow Clone technique next

So the Shadow Clone jutsu is akin to the Aburame Clan's Insect Clone jutsu in that it creates a doppelganger of its caster and the number seems to be dependent on the chakra reserves of said caster as well...though, presumably, there is an hard-set upper limit to the number that can be manufactured with this jutsu...but that said, it does seem superior to the Insect Clone jutsu in so many ways...and yet, somehow, it seems inferior to the one I saw the Hokage use when I met him that one time...that certainly bears further investigation at a later date...

With that thought in mind, Nikola first focused his consciousness and will internally on forming a mental self-portrait and once he had formed a basically acceptable one, he then proceeded to work on gathering up his chakra for the jutsu. Finally, he performed the Clone handsign first instead of the Tiger handsign to test whether it would have any discernible effect on the performance of the jutsu. In response, his chakra poured out of him and constituted itself nearly instantly into a nearly perfect doppelganger of himself

Curses, even this jutsu has not replicated me perfectly down to every last minutiae either...I will definitely need to perfect that aspect of my familiarity with this jutsu as well...now then, it is finally time to commence the field testing...

Musing thus silently, Nikola began said field testing by first examining his shadow clone's maximum chakra reserves thoroughly via sending out his shokaichu and analyzing it. According to their report to him upon their return, the clone possessed exactly 50% of his chakra reserves, as the scroll had described it would in the blurb it had given on the Shadow Clone Jutsu

Sure enough, it does possess exactly 50% of my chakra reserves as they are right now...now then, time to proceed onward with this field test...

Next, Nikola decided to investigate the jutsu scroll's claim that the Shadow Clone jutsu could also perform jutsu as well and he did this by instructing his doppelganger to create a doppelganger of itself by casting the Shadow Clone jutsu and once again, he noticed that the second clone also had exactly 50% of its creator's chakra reserves according to the data on it in the report given to him by his shokaichu which had analyzed it as well. After that, Nikola performed some basic maneuvers such as walking, talking, object handling, and so on to test the synchronicity of the shadow clones with his real body. Once again, he noticed that the clones could indeed mimic his actions and words, albeit with near perfect instead of actually perfect synchronicity, as per the scroll's description of the jutsu

So, they not only have identical chakra signatures but can also mimic the user with barely a split second difference in synchronicity, eh? This is quite a useful jutsu indeed...which is perhaps why it seems to be so popular among ninja of all nations...and furthermore, unlike the Insect Clone, these clones can talk which will certainly be useful in distracting opponents and drawing their attention away from my real body...now to see if they are indeed fully physical and corporeal...and then perhaps, testing their durability and longevity is in order...

Musing thus silently, Nikola proceeded with his field testing of the Shadow Clone jutsu by instructing his doppelgangers to fight each other while he sat back and studied them in action. Over the course of this trial run, he discovered that these doppelgangers actually could bleed and show damage for a brief period without dissipating like the Insect Clone did when hit with even one blow. However, he also found out at the end of the clone battle that the created shadow clones did indeed have a limit on their durability and their longevity since the first had dissipated upon receiving a heavy blow from the second while the second had vanished from existence after it had cast one last jutsu. Finally, Nikola finished off his field testing by perfecting the visual quality of his shadow clones in terms of accuracy and precision and also perfecting their synchronicity with his real body, thus completing his learning of this jutsu as well. Finally, since he was satisfied with the day's work and with learning the jutsu he wanted to successfully, Nikola decided to call it quits and headed out of the Grand Konoha Training Facility and went back home.
