Phoenix, rise from the ashes

Kanara was tired. Really tired. The day before today she had woken up early and spent an entire day training in order to not let Tengoku regret his decision about making her a chunin. She needed to get stronger, and this was the way to do it. After coming home and buying herself some takeaway however, the true reason she was so euphoric was the fact that she finally had decided to crack the secrets her souvenir from the heavenly emporium kept from her.

So there she was, having spent the entire night with no progress after all. She had tried to break it open, first with tools, then with raw strength and afterwards with even with fire. To her surprise the small metal "box" did not only seemingly take no damage at all from Kanaras attempts, but also it had some other features, like remaining cold, even when blasted with fire. THe only time she was able to make a scrath into the strange item, was when he tried to cut it open by raw force and put a bit of chakra in the blade. However within seconds after the hit, the boy had regenerated to pristine condition.

As her frustration slowly replaced the exhaustion, she drank another sip of her cold beverage to calm herself down as it happened. As the bottle fell out of her hand, spilling its content over the thing she tried so hard to crack open, Kanara could see that something happened to it. Touching it, the formerly diamond hard exterior shell had taken on the structural integrety of old rice. Taking the (unbeknownst to her) bundle of nanites up, into her hand, she let it sit there for a few seconds. As she slowly tore it open, it was seemingly empty. Letting her shoulder sink, she thought about it.

All the time, wasted for nothing. Kanara had thought that there was at least something neat or worthwhile. But instead she got a strange, empty box that had taken a literal day to open. Looking out of the window, she noticed that it was evening allready. She was tired, hungry, hadnt left her home in a literal day. Letting chakra run through her body in an attempt to, at least, flush a bit of enegery through her system, she suddenly noticed a motion in her hand.

The box, once inanimate, had somehow taken on another form and was all over her arm, creeping up on it, and upon reaching her shoulder, spreading even further, until it seemingly formed again on her back. Running to her bathroom she tore off her top as she glanced into the mirror. The cursed material had taken on the form of a seal on her back. Cursing herself for being so stupid, she examined it. Trying multiple things to remove it, with every attempt failing and leaving her skin more damaged then before, she finally sighed and stopped. It was futile. Either the seal seamed to regenerate, or it was so deep and resistant that she would draw blood before doing anything to it.

Defeated she put back on her clothes as she went back to her living room, letting herself sink on her couch, defeated. Deciding that she needed some fresh air, she went outside with the park as destination. As she reached the park, multiple things hapened at once.

As her vision got blurry all of a sudden, she felt as if her very lifeforce was being sucked out of her. Whirling around as she started to panic, looking for an attacker, looking for her, she noticed that she felt as if she was on fire, with her back ebing the part that hurt the most. Wanting to cry out for someone, anyone to help, she fell to her knees as her lungs failed to filter out oxygen from the air.

Tengoku had been out for a walk. His head spinning lately with everything going on. Suna and the acts committed there demanded a response...but the treaty demanded he stayed out of it. He was angry with Iwagakure for their blatant evil acts but to go to war...it would hurt those around him. It would wound the nation more than it already was. He had of course ordered that supplies and housing be given to any and all refugees until such a time as a solution could be figured out for them. Most of them were families with their elders that were still well enough to make the journey. However most of them had not made it out and this Chen individual was dangerous. A cold man who had ordered mass executions in broad daylight according to eyewitness testimony. Tengoku wanted to cleave the man in two but was unsure as to the consequences of such an action. Or if Iwagakure was even condoning this. Wicked men with wicked hearts doing wicked acts in wicked ways. This was the world he led a nation in...he could only hope that his own people did not support such an act...but for now he could not respond beyond offering assistance to those in need.

Aside from having so much on his mind his own body had been acting strangely. He had noticed for the briefest of moments black colors seeping into the edges of his eyes in his reflection and his amber eyes shifting to blue. He had wondered if perhaps this was a trick of the mind due to exhaustion and stress. He had felt heavier as of late with the weight of the village on his shoulders. So since night had come around and he couldn't sleep despite having gone home for the night...he had wandered out of the manor. Leaving his sister with her nurse in her coma...the west wing exclusive to her once more. He could use her help but she could not overcome her plague. When she did come out of it she was always a little more active but slipping back into it quickly. So he needed some space from wolf Manor as well. Of course his wolves had come with him. Tagging along as usual for his long walks. These three dire wolves stood about shoulder height on all fours and were relatively friendly if not easily mistaken for bears.

However all four heads would lift and turn at a call for help in the distance. With their canine hearing it could be heard from some distance off. The three wolves would glance to Tengoku for direction before seeing him locate the source of the sound. Taking off in the direction the three stayed on his heels mostly until he came across Kanara of all people in the park alone at night. Immediately he activated his sensory and cast it out to its maximum range. Focusing on it as he tried to detect her attacker. Finding no chakra sources nearby besides her own and...something else intermingling with it. Sourced on her back and integrating....Some sort of chakra poison? Had they weaponized the plague after all. His eyes scanned around as his hand rested on his katana. Looking for the attacker with his sensory but finding nothing...yet his own irradiated blood pulsed and his hand not on his katana shot up to his eye with a burning pain spreading across it. Damn it...he had assumed it was just exhaustion...was this attacker already upon him as well? Damn it...he wasn't sure how to stop this...how to fight it. He would reach out and push out and touch her shoulder. Forcing genjutsu Kai through her system with a rather large amount of chakra just as an attempt to do something.

Yuichi spent somewhere around an hour waiting around for his father, who was supposed to be in town today, when he had finally given up and began the trip home. He wasn't far, but he had offered to take him to a restaurant that Kanara showed him recently, that was just short walk through the park. He was well into his journey home upon spotting some wolves darting past him, along with a man. For a moment, Yuichi wondered who they were, before realizing that it must have been the hokage and following behind as fast as he could. The hokage really was amazingly fast, because he had been stopped and crouched over by the time Yuichi reached him. His dogs were pacing frantically and sniffing around. He stood a small distance away, in case the hokage was in any kind of danger from an unseen threat. He activated his sharingan and examined the situation.

As far as he could tell, there was nobody who meant any harm nearby. Upon closer inspection, Yuichi saw something that shocked him. The reason that the hokage was crouched over was because he was inspecting something. A person. Somebody very close to Yuichi. Kanara was seemingly unconscious, and judging from her chakra signature she was just barely clinging to life.

Yuichi quickly made his approach, inspecting her more with his sharingan and forming hand seals as he approached. The byakugan would be more useful for detecting the source of her injury, but he would have to settle for his sharingan.

Oxe-Tiger

Chakra formed around his hand, but one of the hokages dogs attempted to stop his approach. It moved aside when Yuichi did not stop his path and glared at it until it must have realized he was not a threat.

Finally, he crouched over, same as the hokage, his voice shaking slightly as he inspected her and ran a healing hand over her chest. "I apologize for my abrupt approach, but I do not believe you have any healing techniques. Are - are you in any danger, Lord Hokage? Please tell me what happened."

Seeing as 2 new figures appeared in front of her, Kanaras vision got blurry as the nanites took over more an more, converting bone to metal and back to nanite infused bone, flesh into matter for the seemingly unstoppable process.

"I-. *cough* P-please... make it.. sto-"

Was all that she was able to say, as the angry machine swarm was consuming now more of her at an even higher rate as her body tried to resist for one final attempt, her muscles tensed up as she clung to life in one last, futile attempt.

As her body sunk back to the ground, lifeless this time, a crimson-red glow could be seen emerging from her skin that slowly got stronger up to the point where it seemed to reach the surface of the skin. As it did so, Kanaras body seemingly, slowly burned into ash in a crimson-red fire, that seemingly only stopped at her very skin, that was now dark black instead of the ususal eggshell colour bones had.

Tengokus ears would flatten at the sounds of his wolves growling. His eyes shifting as genjutsu kai did nothing. Someone was approaching. At that pivotal moment of all times. One of his chunnin was writhing before him from an unknown source and here approached the one she claimed to be friends with. A young man who had tried to flee the village and in doing so betray it. Yuichi Uchiha could be recognized on sight at this point after Kimikos threat. So soon before his own attempt and failure. The wolves would snarl and their hackles would rise. Filling the air with their sounds. The wind would shift one way and then the other as tiny strands of light flickered here and there in the air. Static electricity from Tengokus rage. The parks lights burst from the energy and those yellow eyes...they glowed with power...despite the dark falling in around them those eyes were so clear. Looking without fear straight to the Uchiha. The eyes that seemed to see all would shine with a golden anger deep within. However he would let out a sharp whistle and the wolves would move out of the way. Watching as the young man approached.

Yuichi would cover by asking questions it seemed but only to be answered by the pleading of the other Uchiha in front of them. A common medical technique was put to use but much like with genjutsu kai....to no avail. With Tengokus sensory active he would check the chakra of Yuichi to the chakra merging within Kanara. Killing her. He would watch it move inwards and fill her before reaching her heart. He could hear it...beat by beat as it slowed. As she passed in front of him. Tengoku would stare a moment. Before rising to his feet. The thin lines of lightning now crackled with constant life. Golden light flooding the area now as it hissed almost like a chidori. Those golden eyes reflecting the light as his hands hung at his sides. His fingers twitching as he restrained himself. Jumping to conclusions and ripping Yuichi in half wouldn't end well. Despite the suspicious circumstances he had to refrain...to keep from letting the wild side out. His lips would peel back to reveal snarling canines as those eyes looked down at Yuichi. Trembling with rage as he clenched his fist so tightly it drew blood. Snarling out three words.

"You.....Tell....Me."

Yuichi was amazed by the hokage's response to his presence, but he took a deep breath and considered his circumstances. Yuichi was a traitor to Konoha, and it would look like he had tried to hurt Kanara, though he would never understand why somebody would hurt a member of his own...

Then it hit him. Kanara talked about this before. A special Uchiha power one could only acquire by taking another's eyes. The idea made Yuichi a bit queasy. Did the hokage hold such a negative opinion of the Uchiha.

Kanara's heart rate was slowing, and his healing was not helping as her flesh seemed to just melt away into an ash like material. She begged for help. He had to know what was wrong before he could do anything. His eyes were starting to well up with tears, and Yuichi wiped them off. He had to move quickly. He stopped healing her as it wasn't doing any good.

He ignored the fact that he had just blamed Yuichi for his best friend's life being in danger. His sharingan was still activated. He did not know this; it was an instinctual behavior. "Lord Hokage, I am going to read her mind to find out what is going on. I understand if you blame me, however, I am the only person present who can help her. If you have a problem, please address it after. I assure you, if I had intended harm, both you and Kanara are perfectly capable of killing me. But please just wait until after I have saved her life."

It may not have been one hundred percent true. He could probably kill Kanara if he placed her in a genjutsu, but he was bad at gauging people's abilities so he was under the impression that she wouldn't find fighting him that challenging. The hokage he just didn't stand a chance against. He'd be dead in a second. Harming either of the was not just against Yuichi's code, it was also incredibly stupid.

Yuichi placed a hand on her head, absorbing just enough information to get a good idea of what was going on. After he got what he needed, he removed his hand, which unconsciously covered his mouth. "There... I... I've never seen anything like it. I... I can't help her."

By this point, his limbs turned completely to jelly and he slumped into a sitting possession. He had accepted his uselessness in this situation, and it drove him into a deep depression. Yuichi was being forced to watch his own friend die in front of him.

[IN THE AFTERLIFE]

Kanara opened her eyes. As her head was still spinning, she noticed that she was on her knees. As the confusion slowly faded away, the pain she felt before she had perished, hit her mercilessly. Wanting to puke from the feeling of her skin being torn off, seemingly burning from the inside, her bones getting cracked into millions of pieces on a molecular level and organs slowly dying off, she gagged. Instead of puking however, nothing came. After all, Kanara hadnt eaten, the "body" she had here being nothing more then her soul, and her surroundings the afterlife.

Taking the knowledge that this pain was just her mind playing tricks on her, memories from before she died, she swallowed as she forced herself to slowly get up, despite the pain. If she was going to spend all of eternity here, she wouldnt bow to destiny.

As she slowly got into an upright position she saw a woman, sitting on a burning throne 10 meters away from her, looking down on her. As their gazes met each other, staring at each other, the strange woman slowly started to clap.

"Well done sister..."

Kanara being creeped out by the term "sister", replied: "I-...who are you...?"

Answering Kanaras question partially, the woman continued: "You should not ask who I am, sister, but instead ask yourself why you are here."

"And w-what means here?"

As the other woman chuckled, she replied: "Valhalla of course. You should know. I can feel that you are, or at least were a valkyrie once." Seeing as Kanara wanted to answer, she immediately cut her off and said: "What really matters however, is the fact that you are here, despite not dying in battle..."

Folding her arms on the throne she was sitting at, she smiled mischievous. "This means that Odin sent you here personally. You should be honored."

"I-I think you got the wrong person for your cult... i am noone special... and i dont want to be here... just send me to my eternal rest and let me be."

Standing up now for the first time, the other woman walked over to Kanara, stopping a meter in front of her as she opened 2 portals. Nodding at the right one she said: "Its easy, really... either your sould goes to hel and gets punished for every weakness you had in your life, or..." Nodding at the left one she continued: "...you go and meet odin."

Extending her hand she asked: "The decision should be easy, right? Torture or sovngarde... what will it be?"

Clenching her teeth, Kanara reached for the hand which was helping her up now. The strange woman could have gained nothing from tricking her, since she allready was dead. "F-fine... bring me to this Odin then..."

[IN SOVNGARDE]

As the 2 walked through the portal, they found themselves in Odins throneroom. Taking a look over the walls, having a weird feeling, like she saw them before, the woman next to her sank to her knee as Kanara continued to stand.

"Kneel before Odin!", the woman whispered, which made Kanara reply: "I am not going to kneel before your cult leader!"

As a powerful male voice began to speak, thundering through the room, it said: "Of course you arent going to do that... granddaughter."

As the kneeling womans eyes opened and her jaw slightly dropped, she continued to stare onto the ground as Odin continued to speak:

"Tell me, how was it? Living among the mortals?"

"I dont know you and i dont know what tricks you are playing right now or if you are just wrong, but i am not your granddaughter!", Kanara replied angrily.

"You seem to have lost your memories in the time you lived among the mortals. Let me remind you then. You are my beloved granddaughter, hel. Conquerer and slayer of the ice trolls, former champion of asgard... valkyrie of the golden city... phoenixblood. However the very same granddaughter that I banished after she Hel's failed rebellion of fallen Valyries against me. The daughter of Hel that formed a kingdom for herself where she punishes the souls of the dead and binds them to herself, always looking for enough power to take my throne. And the very same granddaughter, that got bored after hundrets of years of living in Hel, and decided to reincarnate herself as one of the mortals, "to spice things up.""

"I-... you have the wrong person... i am just Kanara Uchiha... i dont know what all of this here even is, so..."

As Odin walked closer, he put his palm on the top of Kanaras head, showing her a lifetimes worth of visions. The memories she had about herself, showing her as a beautiful and large woman. As Kanara gasped formt he sudden flood of information, Herja asked:

"O-Odin... why dont you dispose of her right away then? Why... why didnt you tell me to kill her?"

Answering ina cold tone, Odin stated: "Because even like this, she is powerful enough to break you in half like a twig, maybe even kill me here. Being mortal hasnt made her weaker, and she had hundreds of years to get stronger... aside of that, she is the daughter of the godess of death and of the phoenixblood. Do you really think you can defeat someone who cant die and is partially death herself?" Focusing back on Kanara, he said in  much warmer tone: "I have brought you here granddaughter, because i want to clear what is between us, you, your siblings and Hel. It was unjust of me to banish you from Asgard, and i am sorry. What i am offering you now, is the throne and to live in the golden city. It is yours for the taking. I want to make peace with you. Claim it for your mother, for your family."

"I CANT ALLOW THAT!" As Herja screamed this, she drew her blade and stabbed Kanara in the side. As some kind of dark rage came over her, dozens of black swords appeared around Herja, ready to pierce her, hadnt it been for Odin, who had cast a protective field around her. As the forces of life and death battled against each other, Odin continued:

"Dont kill her. I am the one that you hate. She only hates you because of what she sees in you. Fears what you have done or ... If you want to punish someone, then I wont fight against it..."

As Kanara cut Odin off, basicly screaming: "I dont care what you think! Just... Just let me go somewhere else! Let me get back..." continuing in a lot weaker voice now, she continued: "I-I just want to go home... if you are really a god, then send me back... i dont want this... i just want to go back and see my friends... c-can you do that?"

Thinking for a few moments, Odin answered: "No. I cant do that, but you can do it yourself. I see now that you truly lost your memories, even if your powers are the same... and i see that you arent ready to forgive me yet. Because of this, Herja will guide and protect you until you have your memories back."

As Herja's mouth dropped completely open, she stared at Odin as multiple expressions went through her face, the strongest one being fear. Turning to Herja, Odin told her: "You have attacked Hel without my order. Your punishment will be to keep my granddaughter safe until she is dismissing you. This will be at the very least until she remembers fully who she is, however."

As the flying swords disappeared with Kanara calming down, as well as the protective field, Odin added: "You will have to share a body, since only you can bring yourself back the way you were. And seeing how you died, your phoenix blood will be the easiest way to do so. Your body was torn apart, however, you have risen before. You know how to rise from the ashes to walk among the living again."

Opening a portal, Odin wished Kanara farewell. As Herja and Kanare went through the portal, darkness fell over the two. Wandering through the darkness, they noticed a figure ahead. As Herja drew her sword, she said in a depressed voice: "We... we will have to fight this thing and win... It has your body..."

As they engaged in battle with the AI, it didnt stand a chance to the combined might of the 2 women, or rather valkyries. As its "dead" "body" was laying on the ground, Herja put her hands against its head, before looking at Kanara with a painful and fearful expression, as she put her other hand on Kanara's head.

What followed was darkness.

[Meanwhile in the normal world]

Minutes passed since Kanara was laying dead on the ground in seemingly burning ash, before suddenly the ash seemed to slowly get more, "burning away" the ground around her, gathering materials for reconstruction, only stopping in front of Yuichi, Tengoku and his wolves, as it took whatever it could gather and used it to recreate Kanaras body, letting her rise like a phoenix from the ashes.

After a few minutes had passed, Kanara was basicly laying naked inside a small crater. While her body seemingly was perfectly fine, it appeared slightly older than she was before, as well as slightly taller.

Since Herja and Kanara had managed to defeat the AI, Herja had used her power to copy the AI's abilities, reconstructing Kanara. However, this recreation was far from perfect. Herja, being an immortal being had messed up the age of Kanaras body, as well as her height, making her 10 centimeters larger then she was before. Aside of that, while Herja was able to control the nanites, it was all that she was able to do.

As Kanara woke up, tearing her eyes open, and gasping painfully for air, she let out a painful scream as the pain she had experienced earlier, while she was dying and suffocating, washed over her.

Tengoku would clench his fist but mostly stay out of the way. He wasn't certain what was going on but Yuichi was the largest suspect available. However there was no chakra connection beyond the medical technique that the suspect was utilizing. Perhaps a poison? Could poison even do this? The chakra signature was so foreign that Tengoku had to accept that Yuichi may not be involved at all. By all accounts Kanara was dead....he didn't move from where he stood as Yuichi explained that he would try to read her mind. Observing the chakra and finding even less of a connection than before. Genjutsu at play? She was dying and he wasn't sure what to do. When Yuichi signalled that he couldn't do anything Tengoku would take a step back. He was angry but powerless. She was dead and Yuichi just sat down. Giving in. Which is what people did when someone died so entirely. There was no revival from this. He would whistle after a moment as some Jounin emerged from the shadows. If Yuichi had read her mind he was the most likely one to have some answers. So the Jounin would land next to Tengoku ready for battle.

"Take Yuichi into custody for questioning. Have some specialists come here and examine the corpse. I want to know what happened and how to prevent it in the future....do not let...."

He would pause a moment as the ground around the body began to shift. Forming around it and into it. He would hop back expecting an explosion perhaps. His jounin guard moving into a defensive formation around him as he began to gather raiton chakra. If this went sideways he would need to have the chakra to counter it ready. Instead he would watch with narrowed eyes as Kanara was reformed into an older version of herself. Made from the materials around her. She was whole again but he was suspicious about all of it. He would take a moment to glance between her and Yuichi before taking a breath. He wasn't certain what was going on but he saw a version of Kanara alive again..the question was....was it her? Questions that needed answers for the sake of the village. He would unclench his fists and sense around for any other chakras in the area before reissuing orders. He needed to be careful now.

"Take them both into custody quietly. I want them both questioned but do so gently. Both will need to give a full report of these events. Keep them under investigation and only release them into the custody of either Zenaku or Satomi Uchiha. They are to be restricted to the Uchiha clan compound until I say otherwise."

With that the jounin would move silently to surround the two. Nerves at odds end and waiting for any sign of hostilities. If the two came quietly or needed to be carried then there wouldn't be any problems. If not the jounin were prepared to defend themselves. The weight of the village rested on the decision these two made now. If they came quietly they would be brought to interrogation room six and given reports to fill out and if they consented their minds read. Already a messenger had been sent to the Uchiha compound with a request for either of those two men to come collect their young.

The hokage ordered that Yuichi go into custody. For a moment, he considered resisting. Considering that yet another person he loved simply died in front of him, staying seemed relatively pointless. It probably wasn't possible, though, and would just make him look bad. It was just some questioning, and after that Yuichi could return to the horrible life of a ninja. Yuichi held his hands out for them to cuff him or whatever.

Kanara's ashes were burning. In fact, they seemed to be getting brighter and... moving. After a moment, Yuichi realized that they were forming something. Soon, they developed into the body of a woman. It was Kanara. Somehow alive and well. She screamed suddenly, then relaxed a bit as she realized she was unharmed. Yuichi simply stared at her. Was this actually Kanara or was some kind of trick being played on him? She seemed normal in every way.

Before Yuichi could form any kind of response, the hokage ordered them both into custody. He said that they may only be released by two people, and that they were supposed to be questioned about whatever had just occurred. At least Yuichi would be able to learn if this was actually Kanara. Before they cuffed him, Yuichi took the opportunity to give Kanara a hug.

"I was scared. For a moment I could have sworn..."

[TIMESKIP TO THE PRISION]

Zenaku had decided to take a late night stroll though the hidden leaf village, he had been doing so much training lately he was getting sick of it. As he was walking he noticed in the distance a large glow of something red, but deep down zenaku felt as if something was very wrong so in a quick burst of speed the Uchiha clan leader would hurry as fast as he could to the sites location. For all he knew there was a major battle happening right in the Mets of his own village.

As he arrived on the scene he could see four people standing around, well two was standing, one was on there knees and the other was laying in a hole on the ground. As he got closer he could see that it was Tengoku the hokage of konoha, yuichi Uchiha and...was that Kanara uchiha. He heard the hokage say that to place both of them into custody but to only release them to zenaku or saitio.

" Stop messenger that won't be necessary for I am zenaku. As the leader of the uchiha I shall take these two off your hands and figure out what's going on. But instead call for a stretcher to take Kanara here to the Uchiha compound and bring a medic so she can be treated for any wounds she may have. "

Zenaku said but as he was speaking he did not realize it but his EMS was activated and glowing red from it being night time. He had no idea why his student was laying there on the ground but he would figure that out.

" Come yuichi let's go. Thank you Tengoku for releasing them to me, I shall try my best to find out what happened and then I shall report my findings back to you."

As Kanara got picked up and carried away by shinobi, Herja tried to make the body of Kanara work somewhat reliably, or at least enough to fulfill Kanaras bidding, which in this very second was to just run away. Run from the lights the street lanterns, that were blinding her activated three tomoe Sharingan. Run away from the sound of wooden sandals hitting the paved pathway, carrying her to the Uchiha clan district. Run away from the gazes of the people of Konoha that stared at her.

Due to her promotion she had become somewhat known within the village and the Uchiha clan, so naturally, seeing a newly promoted chunin being carried away, seemingly out of fighting shape and in pain was something that raised a lot of different eyebrows. As if that weren't enough, from the few pieces of information her head was able to take out of the onslaught of feelings in her head, Yuichi had gotten into trouble because of her experiment, or rather souvenir.

By the time Herja got enough control over the nanites, she sat upon the stretcher, looking the one of the shinobi that carried her in the eyes before sliding herself off of it, nearly falling but forcing herself to stand up again. As said shinobis dropped the stretcher and walked closer to her, Kanaras body, being still controlled by Herja simply took off with a surprising speed. With her newfound speed, it was rather easy for Kanara to escape. This however came at a great cost. As soon as Kanara got home to her place, she collapsed, feeling as if she was burning away slowly. Dragging herself into her bathroom she franticly opened the water for her bathtub and dragged herself into it, letting the cold water flow over her body, while simultaneously drinking from the stream.

A lot happened all at once. First, Zenaku arrived and took over for the hokage, explaining that he would prefer if this issue was handled by the Uchiha. He ordered a stretcher to take Kanara away, at which point Kanara fled. Yuichi thought of following her for a moment but decided that could only make the two of them look worse. Zen would surely have somebody track her down while he interrogated Yuichi.

Really his only option was to wait and see what happened. Yuichi thought it was good he didn't have to return home to anyone. Nobody would be concerned about the fact that he was missing for the night, or that he had gotten in trouble with the law again. He hadn't seen his father since the war in heaven, so he didn't need to worry about his opinion.

For a moment, he let some of the uncertainty he usually kept down out in his voice. "Yes, I am the only one hear who really has any idea what's going on, after all." Although, he swore at himself for not taking the opportunity he had to read he mind before she took off. Now he had to live with the uncertainty that she even was Kanara until he saw her next.

Tengoku would shift his attention to an approaching but familiar chakra source. Zenaku was already here? Well that was odd timing but coincidentally useful. Still no one was pulling out cuffs or restraints of any kind. It was basically just Tengoku demanding a report. They were both Chunnin so at this point it was expected that they would comply. Which Yuichi did immediately though overcome with emotion he would approach his fallen friend. Tengoku would shift his attention to this for a moment as his guard waited for further instructions. Tengoku would hold up a hand to hold position. If Zenaku arrived and saw the Uchiha being manhandled he may not take it well. However the man would arrive and with his eyes already glowing red. Tengoku would take note of it patiently as he took a breath and steadied himself. All these Uchiha with their sharingan around him. If this got out of hand it would do so fast. However Zenaku would assure the guard that the messenger wasn't required. Making demands of them with authority in his voice. Tengoku would feel a hint of a smile at the audacity a moment before he nodded. The orders made sense and only a matter of pride would be cause for argument.

"See that you do."

Tengoku would state as Zenaku promised him answers. The guards complied but didn't get too far before one of the two children...surprisingly not Yuichi...decided to make a mad dash for it. The guard shifted as if ready to pursue but Tengoku would hold up a hand and all of them would freeze in place. Well trained to obey. Tengoku would glance to Zenaku and then Yuichi with a raised eyebrow. Already questioning his decision to promote them. However despite his past Yuichi was the well behaved one now. Polite if not a little forward. Perhaps he had it wrong when he had been encouraging Kanara to help keep Yuichi on the straight and narrow. Perhaps it was she who needed adjustment...however...

"Whatever just happened was traumatic for her. Do not let her flee the village Zenaku but get answers gently if you can. For now I have my own appointment with the office. I'm relying on your judgment here."

With that Tengoku would turn around and his ankle bracelets would shift to greeves before he took off at A rank speed back to the office. He had been out for a stroll but with all that adrenaline pumping in his system...well he wasn't sleeping soon anyway. Still these oddities were increasing as of late....What kind of place would the world be tomorrow?
