Daiko cracks his neck, making his way down to the training grounds. He had been here many times before, though it was usually to recite the same routine that he had been used to with shurikens or kunai, doing his best to line up his shot as accurately as possible. At this point, it was almost in his muscle memory to start throwing things at the wooden dummies that lay there as soon as he arrived, just to save some time. Taking a moment, Daiko begins to slowly stretch his arms out above his head, feeling the muscle fibers tugging on themselves and loosening up.
Making his way to a particular dummy, Daiko takes out his Kusari-Fundo. It was in nice condition and was fortunate to have been able to pick one up. He was mildly experienced with chain weapons, though he knew that he would have to learn how to use them in a more specialized way sooner or later.
Taking his chain from the side of his body, Daiko takes a moment to inspect it. It was weighted on both ends and was about 4.5 meters in length. Folding the length of the chain in half, Daiko notes how long the chain is as opposed to the size of his own body. It seemed that when put in half, it was still a bit longer than his height from where he was standing, so he had to make a point to grab hold of the other side of the chain. Tugging on it gently, he finds a sweet spot in which he can have a decent length draped in front of himself, as well as some slack on the weighted end dangling by his right hand.
Going slowly at first, Daiko begins to swing the chain in circles with his right hand, changing the positioning of the weight slowly. He then uses the part in his left hand to strike at the dummy. Right now, Daiko was focused on training his mind so that he could focus on both of these things at once and get a bit more coordination that came with finessing this weapon. He knew that he had to learn the basic styles, and right now he was focusing on offense. The spinning end, Daiko flicks forwards and puts a fair sized dent in the wooden dummy. This was going to work out as planned. Daiko spent some more time, handing the slack in the middle of the chain, Daiko takes the left end and holds it in his hand like a stone. Wrapping the length of chain around his right arm, Daiko throws the weighted end like a rock, tightening up his grip as it makes it next to the dummy, and pulling his hand sharply to the right to have it dent the side of the dummy. He was very basic in his practices, though he would get better.
[Learned Basic Chain Offense]
Wrapping up his chain, Daiko holds close to the weights giving about a foot of length on each one, keeping the chain somewhat tight. He dashes back from the position that he was at, taking note of the length of his chains, trying to think of ways to use it to defend himself or evade. He treats this lone dummy as an enemy and positions himself 5 meters away. If he were to try to attack from this angle, he would be all out of the chain and it could very well be ripped from his grasp. So, he had to try and focus on using his speed to prevent long range attacks. Swinging his chain, he creates somewhat of a 'wall' in front of him, that may very well be able to block projectiles. During this, he darts to the left and to the right, circling around the dummy to try and move in a bit closer, dashing backward every time he manages to make it within 2 meters. While spinning the chain in front of his body, he keeps a bit of slack on the left side of the chain, keeping a bit of length dangling down with his hand 50cm from the end of the chain. Moving in slowly, Daiko, on the upswing, quickly moves his hand along the length of the chain, catching it at the weight, and launching the other weighted end at the dummy. He hit his mark, and wiped his forehead, somewhat satisfied with what he had learned.
[Learned Basic Chain Defense]
Wiping his forehead of sweat, Daiko sits down by the small stream that passes through the training grounds. Looking down in the water, Daiko dunks his head down in, letting it cool him for a minute. Coming out of the water, he lays on his back and stares up at the sky. He only knew the basics for now. Next, what he really wanted to figure out would be a way to align his chain with his chakra nature. That could be... Fun. Stretching out on the ground, he yawns. He had been training diligently lately, and honestly hoped that he might be able to find a partner for the next time that he had to put his skills to the test. Standing up from his spot, Daiko slowly makes his way back to the village, looking for something to do.
