    Clan: Hyūga

    Element(s): Fuuton
Skill(s): Taijustu | Ninjutsu (Affinity: Fuuton)

    • Strength: D
    • Constitution: D
    • Stamina: D
    • Speed: D
    • Coordination: D
    • Intelligence: D
    • Perception: C

    Creation Notes:

    Unique Abilities:

Ocular Savant: Ever since the end of the First Shinobi World War, Mura has had his Byakugan active far longer than recommended for users of his level. This has caused his body to become used to the enhanced vision, enhancing his ability to wield it while causing his regular eyesight to somewhat deteriorate. This ability costs 5 CP to activate. [When his Byakugan is active, Mura gains a full tier to his perception for the purposes of eyesight. However, when it is inactive, he loses a tier to his perception in the same manner]

One-Handed Seals: Through repeated practice, Mura can weave handseals with only one hand, for the cost of said handseals of being much slower to form with only one hand [When using one hand to weave handseals, Takano's Coordination is treated as one tier lower when determining how fast he can make handseals]

    Path of Re-Awakening:

Neo-Sanguinis: A Re-Awakening not just of the Spirit but of Blood. This perk grants a player the ability to acquire a single bloodline without going through the traditional implant process for a cost of 1,000 EXP. The player can specify whether this bloodline was latent or received as part of an implant, the storyline is completely up to them. This storyline must be written in a post with at least 1,000 words.

    Appearance:

Face Claim: Saturou Gojo: Jujutsu Kaisen
Standing at 5’9 and weighing in at 160 pounds, Mura is not exactly the splitting image of a Taijutsu specialist. His body is still somewhat emaciated from his long incapacitation, although constant attempts at rehabilitation has allowed some muscle to return. His most apparent features, however, make his mixed blood very apparent: that being his pale blue eyes and stark white hair. Traits inherited from his Hyuga blood, such as his pale skin and high cheekbones, are also present, but often cause more trouble than they’re worth, as many Hyuga see his mixed features as a disgrace to the bloodline. When his Byakugan is activated, his eyes shift to white like any other Hyuga.

Mura often favors utilitarian garb, a remnant of his time as a trader’s son with a definite shortage of funds. His clothing tends to be dark purples and blacks, form fitting and made from sturdy materials. When forced into more formal garb, Mura will reluctantly dawn the clothing that is a trademark of his clan, although only for as long as he absolutely needs to.

    History:

The story of Mura Hyuga begins rather unremarkably, with an ordinary caravan on the side of a road in the Land of Lighting. The caravan, stopped for the birth, had been moving across the border from the Land of Fire to the Land of Lighting, hoping to peddle Fire Country furs in Lightning Country markets before the heavy snow blocked the passes. It was an ordinary trading mission, aside from the fact that almost every member of the ground were highly trained spies and killers.

Nishi Hyuga , otherwise known as the “All-Seer”, had been a legendary Jounin in Konoha’s military, feared and admired in equal measure by friend and foe. It was said that she could see a leaf falling from a tree from three kilometers out, as well as the tiniest follicle of on the human skin. It had been a great loss to have her death faked as to send her on this mission, but the sheer level of information she could acquire as a deep cover spy was judged well worth the loss of her fighting strength. Nishi herself was very unhappy with the arrangement, much preferring the straightforwardness of clashing her Gentle Fist against the village’s enemies, but she eventually, slowly came around to the arrangement. Mura would learn later, however, that many of the Hyuga’s partners on the mission, tagging along on the same mission or others, had been warned not to let the firebrand run off on her own for the first few months.

However, despite her rather….explosive reputation, Nishi was above all things a consummate professional, and adapted to her new role with relative ease. For months, the caravan roamed the Elemental Nations, selling everything from steel to fish, and gradually becoming used to their new roles. Nishi herself, once totally unreachable behind the dual layers of Hyuga mystery and her own temperament, conceived Mura after a tryst in one of the small villages the caravan often stopped at. By the time Nishi found out about the pregnancy, Mura’s father was long gone, moved on to the next village and tavern.

In those early years however, Mura did not spare much thought on the subject. As far as he was concerned, his mother was his entire world, and the pair loved each other dearly. Mura would spend hours listening to her, enraptured by the tales of his birth clan and the legendary abilities they wielded. Nishi was not sure if a half-blood would develop the Byakugan, but dearly hoped he did. After all, what true martial artist did not hope for an heir, a being to pass down all their secrets and knowledge to before the endless march of time took skill and body away. Mura himself spend hours as a child straining his eyes, hoping desperately for the legendary eyes to finally awaken.

And so, the years passed slowly, as Mura learned the art of the merchant and fist in equal measure. Although one could not truly wield the Gentle Fist without the Byakugan, there were nonetheless basic principles that one could hone and develop without its assistance, building a strong foundation for the future. He worked hard to develop his talents with chakra control, practiced for hours with kunai and shuriken, becoming obsessed with the thought of leaving the life of a tradesman for a life of adventure, and wonder.

However, it was when Mura was twelve years old that his life changed forever: his Byakugan finally manifested itself. At first, he and his mother were ecstatic: he could finally truly inherit the legacy of the Hyuga, and its mighty Gentle Fist techniques. Nishi even put in a request to be rotated off the mission, rationalizing that Mura needed far greater control of his bloodlimit to avoid injuring himself: a service only the Hyuga could provide in an environment that didn’t require them to maintain the disguise of simple traders.

    And then the hunters arrived.

Mura wasn’t sure how they had found out about him, but apparently word about an untrained Byakugan wielder had spread across the bloodlimit hunter network like wildfire. Whole swarms of them practically tore the countryside apart for months, desperate to find the legendary eyes. At first, the situation was manageable: the odd assassin would through a window, and would be annihilated in short order by the mother-son duo. However, soon  the attacks were near constant, and the small group was forced to drop their cover in run, constantly hounded by unending waves of greedy assasins. Every night had to be spent in fear of being awakened by attackers breaching their watch line, every breakfast had to be checked for poisons or other drugs. It wore on a person, especially on a fourteen-year-old boy who had spent his entire life idolizing the way of the ninja.

Eventually, however, the team was able to make it back to Konoha, with only a few bumps and scrapes for their trouble. The endless debriefings and interviews to make sure they hadn't been compromised on the outside were exhausting, but Mura was eventually allowed into the Academy like any other kid his age. The curriculum itself was somewhat of a breeze (having an elite Jounin personally instructing you most of your life was somewhat of a bonus), however Mura's situation outside of it was....less so. Aside from the usual social troubles borne of being a "foreigner", many in the Hyuga clan itself saw his mixed blood as shameful, looking down their nose at the young shinobi. Seeing as there was nothing he could do to change the situation, Mura merely put his nose to the grindstone, quickly graduating from the academy and earning an assignment to a Genin team.

However, it was not long before the First Shinobi World War broke out, plunging Mura’s slowly stabilizing life into chaos once more. By a stroke of luck, Mura’s team was put under the command of Nishi, serving as a scouting and ambush force rather than a frontline unit. However, faced with the temptation of taking out the All-Seer, as well as acquiring two sets of Byakugan, Kumo made it is move. There was screaming, and explosion, and then nothing.

Mura awoke from his coma two years later, learning that he and his mother were some of the only survivors of the massive lightning jutsu, and he had only survived due to the last second Revolving Heaven Nishi had thrown up. Not only had the Hyuga been defeated, but they had also been saved by a passing Uchiha jonin: the ultimate indignity, and Mura and his still-comatose mother were all but isolated by the orthodox members of the clan.

Understandably devastated, and with his worldview in pieces, Mura began the long process of rehabilitation, unsure what to do next…

    Personality:

Upon first contact, Mura is a relatively pleasant young man, attentive and polite in casual conversation. He is often intensely curious when meeting people from new places, asking endless questions about their homeland and the culture it contains. This curiosity and a natural inclination for observation and problem solving culminates in a man who is just as comfortable unraveling the chakra flow of a Fire Release jutsu as he is the culture of Earth Country.

In terms of emotions, Mura is often level-headed and does his best to make decisions from a place of calm and center, as a proper Hyuga is said to do. He likes to have control of himself and his immediate situation, holding himself to a high standard as the son of the All-Seer.

In battle, Mura is a laser-focused pragmatist, seeking to take the shortest path to victory while minimizing his disadvantages. As a Hyuga, he is naturally inclined to melee combat, and he often like to abuse the sheer offensive potential of his Gentle Fist in order to prevent his foes from bringing anything but their own Taijutsu to bear. Although he is relatively honorable in battle, a holdover from his upbringing under a Hyuga mother, he also follows her teachings that honor is only good to a point. If there is no method of survival other than to use underhanded tactics, that is exactly what he will do.

However, underneath the façade he presents to the world, Mura has many of his own demons. Years of being hounded for his eyes has led him to develop a deep-set paranoia, as well as an intense fear of losing that which gives him sight. If one pays careful attention, they can notice the little things: how he is never seen eating his own food, how his back is never towards any door if possible. Paired with a healthy dose of anger issues, this can lead to emotional explosions on his part if he feels the situation is not safe for him.

In addition, Mura also nurses quite a significant prejudice against non bloodlimit Shinobi, seeing most of them as either overly greedy, fools, or both. Against clans such as the Uchiha or the Hyuga themselves, he sees those that are clanless as a dangerous liability on the battlefield at best, or potential bloodlimit hunters at worst.

This just requires a 5 chakra activation when you activate your Byakugan to apply the increase.
