Culture/Lore: Nobody is quite sure how or why the Qilin came to be, but the most common theory is that they were the product of dragons and various hooved creatures, giving them their extremely unique appearance. Mysterious and rare, not much is known about the race outside of contract holders, or those who are well learned, as they are extremely secretive and will not often appear to outsiders. The few things that are known about this race beyond their unique appearance are their strong healing capabilities and their natural affinity to fire.

Summoning Method: While the normal summoning method works, the Qilin may also be summoned in any field or forest by simply saying the specific summon’s name and offering any kind of foliage or fruit.

Flame Body:
All Qilin have a natural resistance to fire jutsu, it being their natural chakra affinity. Fire techniques lose one rank effectiveness against them, while water techniques gain one rank in effectiveness against them.
Levitation:
Qilin are said to hold life in such high regard that they will not tread on even a single blade of grass for fear of killing it. Instead of walking, Qilin hover roughly 4 inches above the ground most of the time. They cannot fly or levitate any higher than this, and while levitating suffer -1 rank in speed. This drawback can be avoided by simply walking on the ground.
Requirements: All contract holders and signatures must have signed the contract scroll before being able to summon the Qilin. Once signed a holder may gain a small cosmetic trait relating to Qilin, usually in the form of a small patch of scales somewhere on their body or a colored streak of hair. Tattoos have also been known to happen.
Drawbacks: Qilin are healers and speed fighters, not tanks or warriors. When using any offensive jutsu, those jutsu will lose one rank in strength.
