After having taken a few weeks away from doing missions repetitively, Shin had finally reached the point of boredom wherein he decided to take on a mission to get into a better groove. The numerous missions he had done before were lacklustre, to say the least, and today would vastly differ from them, even if the events of the day would be uneventful. The administration wished for the village to no longer show weakness, and that meant improving Iwagakure no Sato’s image both externally to the world, as well as internally to its residents. Shin’s current mission involved tackling the criminals in the village by making a statement. It was relatively simple when he thought about it, find the hideout of a known criminal organization, place them under arrest and ensure the base was no longer an issue for the village. Already knowing that he wasn’t the most impressive figure in the village physically, Shin knew he’d have to rely more on jutsu than anything. While his very first few days had proved that he had room to improve, Shin currently felt that he could utilize higher-ranked techniques than he had that day – he did not practice any but had extensive knowledge of quite a few.
The first and easier half of the mission was already figured out, for Shin was able to gather some information about a local gang during his return to Iwagakure no Sato. Administration had gone on to provide a document that detailed some known hideouts for particular gangs, so for Shin the matter was already settled; making a point by starting out some petty gangs that were constantly in blood feuds with one another. By starting with the small fish, it would give something for those bigger gangs to worry about in the near future. If Shin had any say in it, a normal civilian would not need to worry about getting caught up in a gang war, for there would be no gangs. It was an ideal, perhaps one that could be reached, but it was not a concern for the current Shin.
Standing outside the hideout of one of the known gangs, the Emerald Rats, Shin would take a moment to see if they had anyone posted outside on lookout duty. There was one individual playing lookout, though it did not seem the male was actually being on lookout, but rather seeming to take a nap. The hideout was located in a more sparsely populated area, with no nearby buildings that Shin needed to worry about if he used a technique that caused damage in a greater area. Forming the two hand seals, first boar and then tiger, the entire area surrounding the building would turn into mud. The building would sink a bit, and the sounds of shock and urgency that resounded from the building would indicate the building was far more populated than Shin had initially thought. This was Shin’s first usage of the Earth Release: Swamp of the Underworld technique, yet it had done its job. Shin knew he needed to act on the jump he had on his opposition, for it would be a simple task for them to escape if they so chose and had the means.
His next means for ensuring the members of the Emerald Rats did not escape was simple; using two more jutsus in quick succession. Shin would form the rat, monkey, boar and snake hand seals in succession to utilize Earth Release: Sticky Earth Drop. Once the mass of mud would pile on top of the swamp that Shin had just created, the last step was simply to harden it, by utilizing a katon technique that would solidify the mud from Sticky Earth Drop. Shin would follow up with a technique he was already familiar with and utilized before, Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique. Forming the required seals, Shin would continuously breathe out the flames, using the flamethrower variant of the technique to set the Sticky Earth Drop alight, beginning the hardening process. He wasn’t here to kill the criminals, just apprehend them. Once it was ensured everyone within the building was successfully encased in the earth, Shin would begin the process of ensuring everyone was properly apprehended before backup came to assist him with escorting them to their prison cells.

Element: Earth
Skill: Ninjutsu
Classification: N/A

Description: By changing the surface of an object beneath the target into mud and creating a swamp, the user can sink their target into the mud. The adhesive, chakra-infused mud ensnares the body, making it almost impossible to recover one's strength and escape from the swamp. The size and depth of the created swamp depends on the user's skill and the amount of chakra used, but if the user is an expert in this technique, it will always be possible to make a fair-sized swamp which is extremely effective against a great number of enemies or when having to face gigantic creatures.
Weaknesses: Anyone can negate the effects of this technique by using the Water Walking Technique. Also, if a person is trapped, they can be "reeled out" by an ally or using an object not influenced by the technique.
Name: Earth Release: Sticky Earth Drop

Upkeep Cost: 3
Range: 50m

Element: Doton
Skill: Ninjutsu
Classification: Open

Hand Seals: Rat → Monkey → Boar → Snake
Description: A portal opens above the target, releasing a mass of mud onto the opponent. This mud adheres to the target and weighs it down, restricting the movement of anything with less than B-Tier Strength. The mud can then be ignited by fire to both increase the damage output of a Katon technique applied to it by one rank and solidify, encasing the target in solid earth.
Weaknesses: This technique deals no damage on its own and can be avoided fairly easily due to its Speed. Even when solidified, the mud can be broken by B-Tier or higher Strength.
Name: Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique
Rank: C
Power: C
Activation Cost: 5
Upkeep Cost: 3
Range: v1 0 - 100m | v2 0 - 25m
Speed: C++ v1 | B v2
Element: Fire

Classification: N/A

Hand Seals: Snake → Ram → Monkey → Boar → Horse → Tiger
Description: A technique where chakra kneaded inside the body is converted into fire and expelled from the mouth either as a massive orb of roaring flame or as a continuous flame-thrower. The scope of the attack is altered by controlling the volume of chakra that is mustered. The released flames will engulf their target, and leave a crater in the ground's surface.
Version 1.) When released as a continuous flamethrower, this technique creates a widespread stream of flames, expanding out 25 meters in front of the user. It moves at B-tier speed and possesses the same power as normal, but can be maintained for a small cost to do consistent burn damage overtime, should something remain in it's range.
Version 2.) When released as a projectile, the technique fires off a broad sphere of flames, moving at C++ speeds. Upon impacting something the sphere detonates into a ten-meter fire bomb burning anyone in contact with the flames. Once passing 100 meters, the fireball fizzles out.
